20 Classroom Rules and Procedures every Teachers should know

By Etacude English Teachers

Summary

## Key takeaways - **Establish Procedures Day One for Better Behavior**: A good teacher prepares students for the year by providing a list of procedures on the first day of class. Continual reminders embed these expectations into student behavior, leading to better conduct. [00:04] - **Quiet Entry and Homework Submission**: Students should enter the room quietly and politely, put away their belongings, turn in homework, and then sit at their desks to read or do silent work before school. [00:24] - **Responsible Mess Cleanup**: If a mess is made, students should quietly get the class broom or rag to clean it up without disturbing others, demonstrating group responsibility for keeping the classroom neat. [01:12] - **Structured Help and Questioning**: Students should ask tablemates for help first, then raise their hand for teacher assistance. Questions during instruction should be raised, not shouted, and personal matters should be discussed by appointment. [01:26] - **Visitor Protocol: Host and Respect**: When visitors arrive, the designated host greets them. Students should welcome the visitor and be ready to explain their work, maintaining best behavior while the teacher speaks with them. [04:05] - **Fire Drill Procedure: Calm and Orderly Evacuation**: During a fire drill, students must stop everything, head for the door quickly but without running or pushing, and wait patiently and quietly in line outside until allowed back.
