[Bick] This is 'คำนี้ดี Featuring.'

My name is Bick, and welcome to the show.

A lot of people enter the entertainment business every year, but if I have to guess, less than half are doing really great.

And only a handful manage to reach the top and stay there by proving themselves to be exceptionally talented and unique.

And I think our guest today is one of them.

So, he's a great actor, he's a great singer, and pretty soon, next month, he's going to have a big concert in China.

And a month after that, his very first movie will be in theaters.

Let's go talk to him.

สวัสดีบิวกิ้นครับ [Billkin] สวัสดีครับพี่บิ๊ก [Bick] สวัสดีครับ [Bick] Welcome to the show!

[Billkin] Thank you.

[Bick] Thank you for coming.

[Billkin] Thank you for inviting too.

[Bick] How are you doing?

[Billkin] I'm quite great during this time.

[Bick] That's good news.

So, apparently, this is your golden year because it's only the beginning of 2024, and already, you're very hot and happening.

A lot will happen for you this year, so a huge concert and a first movie.

You must be very excited right now.

[Billkin] Yeah, quite excited.

But actually, some work is the work that I did last year, and it will be launched this year.

So, I think it's just a good momentum for launching the work.

[Bick] And congratulations on your ticket sales because I heard that they sold out in like five minutes.

[Billkin] Thank you.

[Bick] How are you feeling that it went out like that?

Like really, really well and really fast.

[Billkin] Actually, I'm a bit shocked because I never imagined that one day I'd be in this position, this successful.

Because at the very beginning of my career, I just did my best in every work that I did, and I just wanted to explore something new.

At the beginning, I just wanted to find my new hobbies.

[Bick] So it started out as a hobby?

[Billkin] Yeah, actually, but as time passed, I never imagined it would become this huge in every aspect, to the point that I have a lot of international fans and be this successful internationally.

So, quite surprised.

[Bick] I was going to ask that too because it's not only in Thailand but internationally now.

So, your international fans obviously love you so much and have been following you in every work that you have done.

So, what do you want to say to them right now?

[Billkin] I just want to say thank you.

And it's been an honor to be loved by so many people.

Because my work is basically in Thai, I communicate my feelings and everything in a Thai way, in Thai culture.

But I'm still very surprised that our communication can get across the cultural and language barriers and get to their hearts.

Yeah, it's unbelievable.

[Bick] It's amazing, right?

It's like a work of art.

Like movies and music, even though we don't know the language that well, we can still enjoy and appreciate them.

[Billkin] Absolutely.

[Bick] So, this is, like I said, going to be your great year.

[Billkin] I hope so.

[Bick] I'm sure of it.

The big concert, actually, you've done big concerts before in Thailand, like last year in November.

But this time around, it's going to be practically the same, like Billkin Tempo Concert, but done in China, outside of the country, for international fans.

So obviously, it's going to be something different, right?

[Billkin] Yeah, actually, I call it a Tempo Tour, but it will be starting in China.

And in the future, I just hope to have more and more opportunities to go to other places to see more fans in many, many places around the world.

But for the first place, it's Fuzhou, China.

Very, very excited.

[Bick] Huge stadium, huge crowd are waiting for you.

How are you preparing for the concert?

[Billkin] For some parts of the show, it will be quite similar to the first one in Thailand, and also, some parts will be like a new part where I have to adapt our show to match it with the culture of each place I go,

and also about the scale, the situation, and everything.

So almost half of it, I've done it before, and another part of it, I have to make it new.

So, a bit excited, but I've been to China many, many times, and the fans are very nice.

They are such amazing fans, amazing energy, amazing environment.

So that makes me feel comfortable in a way that I have to go to China again with my first solo concert tour.

[Bick] It's going to be your first international solo concert as a solo artist, and I'm sure your audience, the people in China, will be satisfied with what you have to offer because obviously you know them well.

And I think whatever you do, you put more than 100% into your work, so that's a guarantee for the concert to be a huge success.

[Billkin] Thank you.

[Bick] So, before we get to the movie, which is another big thing coming your way, let's talk about your latest single 'ก้าวก่าย.'

♪ อยากจะไปแต่ไปไม่ได้ ♪ ♪ ใจที่มันเดียวดาย ♪ ♪ รักแค่เพียงแต่เธอ ♪ ♪ อยากจะไปแต่ยังพร่ำเพ้อ ♪ ♪ ทรมานแม้เธอรักเขาแล้วหมดใจ ♪ [Bick] It has had a great reception from the fans as well, and it was a great song. I love it.

[Billkin] Thank you very much.

[Bick] So basically, the song says, "I wish I could love myself the way I love you by just moving on already because obviously you don't love me."

Is that the message of the song?

[Billkin] Yeah, I think the situation usually happens when we are in the beginning of the shifting stage from when we're getting apart from any relationship, and we still get used to the things that we usually do when we are together.

We usually care for others, we usually think of others, we usually do something for others.

But when the relationship changes, the situation changes, so we can't do everything the same.

We just have to adapt ourselves to the new stage, and sometimes we just wish to do the same thing, but we can't right now.

[Bick] And I love the message, I love how the song says, "I wish I could love myself as much as I love you."

[Billkin] Because I love you more than myself.

[Bick] But sometimes, that doesn't work out too well for the relationship.

[Billkin] Absolutely.

[Bick] So, speaking of the songs, obviously, you've got a lot of hits, and I love all of your songs.

[Billkin] Thank you, my pleasure.

[Bick] They're different but also the same in some sense.

So, let's play a little game from some of your songs.

Fill in the blank: "I like myself when I [...]"

Obviously, it's from the song 'ชอบตัวเองตอนอยู่กับเธอ.'

'ชอบตัวเองตอนอยู่กับเธอ.' So, I wonder what else is there when it comes to 'You like yourself when are you what, or when do you do what?'

[Billkin] I like myself when I'm myself, actually.

[Bick] That's nice and deep, actually.

"When I'm myself," you mean like when you get to be yourself and do not have to pretend.

Is it hard for you to just totally be yourself?

[Billkin] Actually, not that hard because in the situation that I am, I just think that it would be even more beneficial to me and my work.

The more myself that I can be, it will be better and better.

[Bick] That's so nice, and I might add fortunate because a lot of people cannot afford to be themselves for whatever reason.

But in your case, the more you are yourself, the more people like that.

[Billkin] Yeah, I think sincerity is the key for the artist.

You just have to communicate your absolute feelings, your true feelings from your heart.

I think that's the best.

[Bick] And you can use all of that in your work.

How amazing is that.

[Bick] So, move on to the next song.

'รู้งี้เป็นแฟนกันตั้งนานแล้ว' So, I wish I had [...] a long time ago.

[Billkin] This is a very hard question for me because I really appreciate every moment of my journey.

Because every learning, sometimes people would say that if I knew this before, it would be better for them, but actually, I just think that the learning process is very interesting and very meaningful to me.

That I never value the point that I know it until I know what I've been through.

[Bick] So you're not even going to waste your time questioning yourself by keep saying 'รู้งี้.'

[Billkin] Yeah, never.

[Bick] That's good.

I think I've heard people say that everything happened for a reason, and sometimes I kind of roll my eyes at it, like "Ah, yeah."

[Billkin] Because you never realize if you don't have that experience.

[Bick] True.

That's nice.

So, let's do this one.

Mr. Everything.

That's your song.

So, Mister [...].

How do you see yourself, or what else you got called before?

[Billkin] During this time, Mr. Sleepless.

[Bick] Oh man, that is not good, but...

[Billkin] Just kidding.

[Bick] It's your situation right now?

[Billkin] Yeah, but I'm quite enjoying my situation right now because I'm a bit exhausted actually, yes, but everything that I do at this moment, I really enjoy it.

I really appreciate it. I would love to do it.

[Bick] So hopefully, it's just a state or a phase that you have to get through, and then you can go back to Mr. Sleepy.

Just please, sleep more.

[Billkin] Or change to Mr. Happiness.

[Bick] That's nice.

But you're saying that being Mr. Sleepless now says a lot about how hardworking you are right now.

All right, so another one.

'กลับมาคบกันเถอะ' So, please [...].

If you want to say something to someone and you want to beg them for something right now, please what?

[Billkin] Please...

This one is also hard for me.

Please...

Please take off your shoes.

Just kidding.

You usually find it in front of the door.

That's the first thing that pops up.

Please be sincere.

[Bick] Please be sincere.

[Billkin] Because I love to bare every aspect of myself to everyone that I talk to.

So if everyone is sincere, it would be very safe and comfortable for me and for everyone to just talk about everything.

[Bick] Actually, I've heard that about you, like you're very and super honest.

You can talk about your feelings with no filter, and you prefer it that way.

[Billkin] I would love to.

[Bick] But most of the time, do you think that works well for you, or does it work against you?

Like, do mostly good things happen because you're honest, or do bad things happen because you're too honest?

[Billkin] I think there are pros and cons in some situations.

It's not a lie, I don't lie, but we just have to say something that is partly true to avoid some parts that could be sensitive for someone or some situations.

But I'll never lie.

I'll never say something that is not true.

[Bick] So, you mean you prefer to be honest, but with some consideration of other people's feelings, you kind of manage your truth.

[Billkin] But you know, sometimes the fact hurts.

But, by the time passes, you'll realize that somebody telling you the truth hurts you, but as time passes, when you realize it, I think you're going to get back and say thank you to them.

Sometimes when we're hurt, it gives us something.

It's a learning, I think.

It's a good experience.

[Bick] So, if it were you, you prefer that people tell you the straight facts.

Even though it's hurtful, you would love to have it that way instead of being lied to.

[Billkin] At that moment, I might not love it, but as time passes, when I realize it, I'll say thank you for telling me that because it really changes my life.

It's really meaningful on that day, and it changes me, it develops me.

[Bick] And it must be hard for them too, knowing that they would hurt your feelings but choose to tell you the truth.

[Billkin] Correct.

[Bick] So, let's talk about the movie.

This is big and very exciting.

It's going to be your first movie.

I mean, we've seen a lot of your acting, and all of it is on series, TV, and streaming platforms, but this is the first time you'll be in a movie.

So, it must be a lot different working in a series set and a movie set, right?

[Billkin] Actually, they share something that is quite similar, but I think the key difference is the craft of the way of working.

Because let's imagine that for a series, we might spend around 20-something queues for let's say 5 to 6 episodes, the total duration would be like 5 to 6 hours.

But for a movie, same amount of shooting time, around 20-something queues, for just one hour, Just an hour and something, or 2 hours, sometimes.

The time that we spend per scene, the time that we spend per day, is shorter and more focused on each detail of the scene.

So, I've learned a lot of things from shooting my first movie, and I would say that I love to do a movie more than a series because it's fun and it always gives you time to be prepared.

[Bick] It's, of course, time-consuming, but in a very good way because people are more focused on what they're doing, even though it will take months to finish the whole movie.

[Billkin] Actually, a month, a few months.

[Bick] So, have you watched the whole movie yet?

[Billkin] Yeah, already.

But not the final version, just a draft version.

[Bick] But is it everything you had in your head while you were shooting?

Like, "Oh, okay, I can see the final result to be this way," and it came out exactly the way you imagined?

[Billkin] Actually, this is the first acting work that I never watched the playback during the shooting because I just want to be as natural as I can be.

So, I just want to judge myself.

I don't want to see myself, what I've done, and what I want to change myself on the screen.

So, I just skip it.

I just talk to the director, "What's the problem?

Do you want to change something or fix something? You just tell me."

But he's the one who told me that for this movie, do not watch the playback.

[Bick] I see. And is it possible for an actor to not watch the playback at all?

[Billkin] It's also the method of some actors too.

Since I've talked to some actors, they don't watch the playback too because they don't want to judge themselves.

So, for this work, I think it really works for me.

By the time that I watch the movie, I'm quite excited because I've never seen anything on screen.

[Bick] It's going to be fresh for you too, even though you're in it.

So, the movie is called 'หลานม่า' and it's branded as a family drama.

And that would cause me trouble for sure because I want to say, "Please, go watch this movie in the theater," but I'm not sure if I want to do that because I will cry, man.

I mean, I will cry because family drama gets me every time, and I'm sure there's going to be a lot of crying in the movie too?

[Billkin] I can't tell because...

[Bick] You cannot tell?

[Billkin] I can't tell because the PR is here.

[Bick] But I think we can assume that it's going to have some sort of sentimental factor to it because family is very close to us.

And we could be super happy because of our family, we could be super sad because of our family too.

When you were shooting the movie, did you relate yourself to your character in the same way when it comes to family issues?

[Billkin] Actually, all the time because the background of the movie shares a lot of things with my real family, the Chinese culture, the way that I'm close to my parents, my grandma, my grandpa.

So yeah, I would say a lot.

[Bick] So, your character, M, he's kind of a slacker/loser grandson.

[Billkin] Slacker, yeah, that's the right word.

[Bick] He is a gamer, I think?

[Billkin] No, he's trying to be a gamer.

[Bick] He's trying to be a gamer, but not very successful at it.

[Billkin] Not that successful, yeah.

[Bick] So, basically a loser guy.

[Billkin] Slacker, that's the right word.

[Bick] And he kind of has his eyes on his grandma's fortune.

Like, he wants to inherit all her money.

So, even though you weren't close to the grandma in the movie before, you try to put yourself very close to her, in the hope that you'll get the money.

So, if this guy is your friend, what do you want to say to him?

[Billkin] At which period of the movie?

[Bick] At the very beginning.

So, it's like, he's your best friend, and he's telling you about what he's planning.

[Billkin] I'd say that nothing is more important than family, even money or anything else, for me, because my family is the most valuable thing in my life, one of the most valuable things.

I know, imagine the day when I'm alone without my dad, my mom, my brothers, and other family members.

It really means a lot to me, so, I'd say to him that nothing is more important than family because the bonding is by blood, so nothing can compare, nothing can substitute.

But, by the time passes, he'll realize.

[Bick] Hopefully, and I think for sure because I hope it ends on a very positive note, this movie.

Happy ending, please.

What did your family say to you, or how did they feel when you told them about the storyline of this movie?

They were quite excited because when I told them about the movie, you know, even the setting of the movie, it's a place that the Thai-Chinese community usually go.

So they knew, "Oh, this place, oh, that place.

What are you going to do in the movie?"

"I'm going to do this."

"Oh, that's so real. I did that too when I was a kid," something like that.

So, they were quite excited that their kid's going to portray in a movie that has a lot of their background culture, their real experiences, and their related things that they're quite proud of.

Because, on the other hand, it's like a Thai-Chinese cultural documentary that portrays little details or thinking or norms of a Thai-Chinese family, and they are.

So, that's why they are quite proud of me and this movie.

[Bick] So, M, the character M in the movie, at first, his attention is not very good, like kind of evil.

How do you try to understand him?

Can you make sense of why he chooses to do that?

[Billkin] I can in some ways because before I started shooting, I had done a lot of workshops with the acting coach, P'Chell, and also with the director.

And I think the thing that really helps is the background of the character.

Why he really needs that money, why he really needs to be settled.

And I think those backgrounds that might not exist in the movie are the things that make my character alive.

Like the background that he's not graduated, he's not successful in gaming, he's in the middle age that all of his friends are starting to do something, some of them might be successful,

and he got away from his family for a while since he grew up.

I think those things and many, many more details make my character alive, and that's the reason that makes me believe every action of M.

[Bick] That's good. I think it's amazing how an actor does his job because a lot of the time you might not agree with the character, like the way he does things or his decisions, and yet you have to be that guy, right?

[Billkin] That's a very tough thing for me, actually, because I've been away from acting for a few years, actually two or three years, since 'I Promised You The Moon'.

By the time we grow up, it's hard to believe something that is not true because logically, we grow up and we...

[Bick] You understand things more now.

[Billkin] And also, in your real life, you already know it, but in the movies, you have to step back and you have to believe in the stage that you've already been through, you've already passed it So, it's hard.

By the time I grow up, it's harder to do acting, for me, and I did a lot of workshops and I contributed a lot of things for this movie.

I'm very proud of this movie, and I'm very happy to be a part of it.

[Bick] You seem to have a lot of fun filming this movie, and I'm pretty sure that fans will be very happy if you keep doing both work singing and acting.

Please don't stop doing either, so it's going to be very hard for you to...

If I ask you to choose, can you choose?

[Billkin] I can't.

It's like the happiness that comes from each thing is different.

It's like you can't compare your happiness of sleeping to eating.

It's a different thing, you can't compare.

[Bick] And you need both, right?

[Billkin] You need both.

[Bick] So, there's a word in the industry they say, "double threat," which means people who can do both things well, like acting and also singing.

But there's a word 'triple threat,' it means people who can do three things really well.

If you can see yourself to be a triple threat in the future, what's the other thing you think you want to be very good at?

[Billkin] I can't imagine anything because currently, it's very...

[Bick] Your hands are full.

[Billkin] It's still very...

It's still a lot for me, too much for me right now.

I think taking care of everything that I'm doing right now is very challenging for me.

[Bick] You are already a full-time job, a super full-time job.

[Billkin] So, if I'm going to do something more, I think it must be very, very, very meaningful to me.

So that I would let myself to be in a situation where I have to take care of more things, because if I'm going to do it, I have to make it the best in my way.

[Bick] Well, having said that, besides acting and singing, you still have your own business also.

So, that must take a lot of your time as well.

Tell us about your business that you're doing.

[Billkin] Actually, I'm currently doing...

The first one is The Billkin Entertainment, of course.

The second one is Wital.

It's a, I'd say, wellness brand, but now we're currently doing supplements.

We plan to expand to do more in other industries and other products.

I'll make it fast.

The next one is Caremate.

Caremate is a lip care product.

This one I'm working on with PP and some partners.

I do the Reroute, the sustainability brand.

It begins with my inspiration from the marketing class.

So, I just wanted to do something, to change something, so I thought, I thought, I thought, and then I did it.

This one I decided very fast.

And the latest one, I just joined to be a partner with Yolé, the first in yogurt ice-cream.

Just a small part of it.

[Bick] But many things.

Is this because, like you said before, you used the word explore, you want to explore and see how things work out or how things are like, so you can maybe later put your major focus on the next thing that you want to do?

But why wellness and why health-related?

[Billkin] Actually, the wellness, the health-related, the sustainability is kind of related in this generation in some way.

So, I'd say that I'm quite into it because I like this kind of thing.

I'd love to learn and know something about longevity in humans and also nature.

Sometimes, I find my own pain points from my own life, my own living, and then I just want to solve my own pain points.

And then I think a lot of people might share the same problem as me.

[Bick] Might as well help them too.

[Billkin] So, actually, for Wital, it started from working a lot, and sometimes I feel so brain exhausted.

That's the beginning, so that's why I'm trying to develop the product with the research team and make the product.

And that's the beginning, then expanding to other product lines.

For Caremate, the lip care, it started from my lips being very dry, always dry.

That's the thing that fans always say, PP always says, most people always say.

So, that's a PP idea, that PP wants to do a lip care brand.

Actually, it started from my lips, and then, yeah, until now.

The third one, from the marketing class, I just think that if we could expand the lifespan of nature, it would be nice that we could preserve good things for our kids in the future.

There are a lot of things that we've seen in pictures, some animals that are already extinct, some nature that has already collapsed, and we don't have an opportunity to see it with our own eyes.

And I just imagine that it would be nice if the beautiful things that we are seeing right now, It would be nice if we could preserve them longer than they are right now.

Because nature is beauty.

I love to go to many, many places, like National Parks.

It's really, really super beautiful.

I don't know how I can compare this kind of thing to any other things because it really means a lot to my emotional feelings.

So, I just want to preserve it.

And I find some market gap too.

Sometimes, it doesn't have to be something hard or something complex.

Just changing your daily life, changing your behavior, or the things that you use, that might be the way that you can help the world.

So, you don't have to do a lot of things, but if everyone does it together, it would have a big impact, I'd say.

[Bick] I think a lot of great businesses started out that way, like from themselves, like my needs, my problems. And then it kind of extended to, "Maybe I can help other people too."

because you found out that a lot of people have the same problem exactly.

So, I think this is going to be great for you if it's that good and meaningful place to start the business from.

So, I look forward to more of your success and more stories.

Maybe you can come back to the show and tell us about more things that you want to do.

So, a lot of people might ask you about your fame because, of course, this is something that can get you a lot of stuff in your life, can be super beneficial to your life, but at the same time, it kind of takes away something from your life too,

like your privacy or your need or your want to do something that maybe you want to keep private, but maybe you don't have that kind of luxury now.

So, do you think being famous is okay for you right now, for your life, and how do you manage it?

[Billkin] I think it's understandable.

Everything has a trade-off.

I'd say that there are pros and cons for being famous.

But sometimes, we cannot choose everything that we want to be.

We just have to sacrifice something for something that we really want.

But it's acceptable for me, it's understandable.

And in the big picture, I'm happy with my current situation right now because we can look at it in a good way, in everything.

Sometimes, people say that being famous will take your privacy.

Yeah, that's right.

But every time that people give you attention in public, that's because they value you, they appreciate you, so you should appreciate it too.

You just have to understand it in a good way also, not just a bad way.

And I think I still have many, many ways to keep myself private, stay alone, just thinking by myself, and doing something by myself, I still have that time.

I have a good family, I have a place called home, friends, and good colleagues.

So, every time that I'm with them, I'd say that I feel safe and private.

So, I don't feel that I really thrive for privacy that much because I think we can manage it.

[Bick] That's a great answer. I really like it.

Well, I think we all kind of know that you speak English, but I had no idea before that you speak this well.

You speak really good English.

[Billkin] No, not that good, just communicable.

[Bick] What is your secret?

Like, there must be a lot of people out there who are trying to improve their English and try to practice on their own.

Do you have any tips for them? Any advice?

[Billkin] The thing that really worked for me was the time when I attended summer courses in the UK and the USA since I was in grade seven or eight.

And I think almost everyone has learned English in class, in our schools, but I think, for me, the situation when my English skills really improved was when I had to survive, in the situation where I had to use it.

[Bick] That you really need to use your English, otherwise...

[Billkin] You're going to be forcefully developed.

[Bick] So, great time, actually, I wish we had more time, but of course, you have a lot of things to take care of.

And I'm very thankful, for all of our fans too, that you stopped by.

So, last couple questions.

Since our show is called 'คำนี้ดี', So, I was wondering if you have your favorite words in both Thai and English.

[Bick] It's worth it.

[Billkin] Yeah, really worth it.

[Bick] Really simple and very meaningful, and to me, very important as well.

ความสุข happiness, I like it.

แล้วภาษาอังกฤษล่ะครับ Do you have any favorite English words?

[Billkin] I would say 'passionate.'

'Passionate or 'sincere.'

Actually, they share the same meaning.

Because I think, especially for an artist, but I think in everything, every work that we do, people can feel the outcome of your work, that you're sincere, that you're passionate, or if you put your 100% into it or not.

[Bick] People can tell.

[Billkin] Yeah people can tell, people can feel.

So, I'd say that you have to find the place that you're comfortable to be.

You have to find the work that you're comfortable to do, happy to do, and passionate to do.

And that will naturally extract your 100% potential in your work and outcome.

[Bick] That is so cool. I couldn't agree more.

[Billkin] Find your reason to do something, find your passion to do something, find your happiness to do something, and everything.

For me, I think some people usually say that we have to have a work-life balance, but for me, it would be very, very nice if we could combine work and life.

Work is your life because life is your happiness, so work is your happiness.

So, I can work every day because that's my life, that's my happiness.

So, I have a lot of reasons to do a lot of things, and I'm really happy to do a lot of things.

So, I hope that everyone would find their own reason their own happiness, and their own passion.

And I am very happy to have the chance to talk to you today, Billkin.

[Billkin] Me too, likewise. [Bick] Thank you so much for coming.

[Bick] ขอบคุณครับ สวัสดีครับ [Billkin] ขอบคุณครับพี่บิ๊ก
