I'm cat Miller and this is Dice TV cover letters aren't just annoying papers you write when you apply for jobs they're an opportunity to guide a manager through your experience and highlight specific
credentials to show why you're the best candidate for the job an effective cover letter needs to capture the reviewer's attention right off the bat so it's important that your opening statement isn't generic or flimsy a strong one
will show that you know something about the company and its needs maybe from something you read in the John post posting or in the news if someone referred you to the position this is where you mention their name then
introduce yourself and express your confidence that you can do the job the introduction should only be a couple of sentences long so just hit on the highlights it should say for example
that you have experience as a systems administrator not where or for how long or what your experience is you'll have the chance to explain all that later in the body of your letter for example you
might say as a successful systems administrator with seven years of experience I am confident that I would Excel as the Senior Systems administrator for XYZ Corporation my
background in project management networking and technical support will allow me to make numerous contributions to your Company Success now where do you
give them the details in the body of the letter and we'll tackle that in the next video I'm cat Miller and this is Dice TV
