Hi guys, how are you all doing? I hope
everyone is super well. If you're new here and you haven't seen me before, my name is Chloe. I'm a hair stylist and hair care expert. Those of you who are returning viewers, welcome back. Thank
you so much for joining me. Now, I'm
bringing you a video that has long been on waiting. The return of the Dyson
on waiting. The return of the Dyson Airrap ID with the actual ID mode as well on my phone. For those of you who saw my last video, I'll insert some
clips here. It was a bit of a disaster,
clips here. It was a bit of a disaster, not going to lie. I had never used the ID mode before. It was my first time ever using it on my hair and kind of figuring out how to like do a great job, use the app at the same time, talk and
do a whole YouTube video. It was a bit of an ordeal. So, what I really wanted to do is bring you a video with the same attachments. This is the 32 mm. It's the
attachments. This is the 32 mm. It's the
nice chunky curling wand. Do ID mode again, show you how it works. This is
going to be a perfected tutorial. So, I
know how it works now. I am not going to over complicate it. And I'm going to show you, yeah, how to get the best results using 32 mm curling wand. and
we're going to create, yeah, some lovely bouncy curls from damp hair. Let's get
into it. Product prep. I've already popped
it. Product prep. I've already popped these two into my hair. So, this is the Keristars leave-in heat protective blow dry milk. Amazing for hydrating and
dry milk. Amazing for hydrating and smoothing the hair. And it's super lightweight. It's not heavy. And then
lightweight. It's not heavy. And then
the Kerous Elixia Ultim, probably my favorite hair oil ever. Again, it's not heavy, nice and lightweight. But these
both have heat protection in, and they're going to help smooth and hydrate and nourish and just get that nice smooth base to begin with. What I do want to show you on camera and apply is a product for hold. That's probably one of the questions I get asked all the
time. Why does my hair drop super
time. Why does my hair drop super easily? Like the curls don't hold. They
easily? Like the curls don't hold. They
don't stay. Most of you are styling on dry hair. I mean, technically you can.
dry hair. I mean, technically you can.
There's nothing to stop you from styling dry hair. But the thing is with Dyson
dry hair. But the thing is with Dyson Air Wrap, it's only 150° C. In terms of, I guess, hair temperatures when you're styling hair, it is actually really quite low. It's on the lower end of the
quite low. It's on the lower end of the scale. And that's because it is really
scale. And that's because it is really designed to be styling from damp hair, damp to dry styling. There's nothing to stop you from styling dry hair, but to be completely honest, it just isn't something on dry hair that's going to hold and last and especially not last
for like days on end. So, always ideally style from damp hair and then always also apply a product which is going to give you some hold factor. So, I'm
popping in some mousse here. This is the Pureology. This is called the weightless
Pureology. This is called the weightless volume mousse. Honestly, it's so
volume mousse. Honestly, it's so lightweight. It's not sticky. It's not
lightweight. It's not sticky. It's not
heavy. I recommend moussees like for everyone. If you feel like your hair
everyone. If you feel like your hair Yeah. If it drops, basically, you'll
Yeah. If it drops, basically, you'll just find Yeah. You're not actually popping in a product which is giving you any holds. Yeah, pop that in. I'm really
any holds. Yeah, pop that in. I'm really
focusing on the midlengths and ends there of my hair. And you can see literally just sinks straight into the hair. And as you can see, my hair is
hair. And as you can see, my hair is just damp. It isn't soaking dripping
just damp. It isn't soaking dripping wet. It's actually dried off on the ends
wet. It's actually dried off on the ends there. Yeah, this is kind of the perfect
there. Yeah, this is kind of the perfect level of dampness we want. I'd say it's like it's maybe like 40% damp and wet at the moment. So, it's almost still too
the moment. So, it's almost still too damp. But what we're going to do now
damp. But what we're going to do now that we've prepped our product, so we're fully protected from heat. We've got a little bit of like hold factor in there.
We're going to take off the curling head and then we're going to apply this attachment. So, this is the dryer plus
attachment. So, this is the dryer plus flyaway smoother. And because we just
flyaway smoother. And because we just need to take out a little bit more of this excess water, there's almost just still too much in there before the hair can actually change its shape. And I
feel like this is actually the most efficient attachment to do that. I feel
like it dries super quickly, super speedily, gives actually less flyaways and less frizz compared to the fast drying attachment, the one with just the hole in. So yeah, just make sure you've
hole in. So yeah, just make sure you've kind of angled it so then the airflow is just coming out of here. And you don't need your phone for this part. This
attachment doesn't connect to ID curl or anything like that. Pop your phone to one side. And we are literally just
one side. And we are literally just going to pop it on. I like to pop it on a medium heat just first of all just to warm up my hair first of all because it's really cold and wet and so you kind of want to warm your hair up gradually
rather than going from cold to super hot cuz then that isn't great for the hair.
Medium heat. I'll keep it on the medium speed because this is super powerful.
And yeah, let's go. And I'm just going to brush my hair at the same time with the Dyson paddle brush as I'm just blow drying and aiming this and the airflow
down on my
[Music] hair. So dry your hair off until you're
hair. So dry your hair off until you're already about like 80% dry. So that is the great thing with um air wrap. It
doesn't take actually forever to dry and style because you actually want to yeah dry your hair already. That's because
your hair will only change shape from kind of alpha keratin to beta keratin.
That new shape that you're putting it in. It only happens in that last like
in. It only happens in that last like 20%. If you're trying to do it any
20%. If you're trying to do it any sooner, kind of just wasting a bit of time really. It looks probably quite dry
time really. It looks probably quite dry on camera, but it is damp. You know,
it's got like that cold feeling and like the hair is definitely still got moisture and dampness to it. But what I will say, if you get to this point and you see cuz my ends are more dry, especially if your hair doesn't hold
well and it drops super easily, I would definitely apply something like the L'Oreal Techni Ple. Plea is an amazing product that like hairdressers love. It
just again adds that like little bit of hold factor to the hair, but super lightweight. It's not heavy and it's not
lightweight. It's not heavy and it's not sticky. So that's a nice one to add into
sticky. So that's a nice one to add into each section just as you go as well. Taking off this nozzle, popping
well. Taking off this nozzle, popping back on my curling wand. really good tip I would when you apply it because you can only see these arrows. They're only
on one side, these arrows. I would
always pop the arrows like in the mirror, so they're in front of you. And
then it's super easy to know when you're switching between left and right, you know which way you're actually switching it. So if that arrow is pointing to that
it. So if that arrow is pointing to that way, you know the curl is literally going to that side and it's for that side of the head. Whereas then you go like that, that way. when I first did it in my other tutorial. So, say if you're
doing it like that, the arrows were pointing towards me and then honestly, I was just getting so confused with the direction, but that's one of my key key top tips. Just have the arrows pointing
top tips. Just have the arrows pointing that way in the mirror and honestly, you won't get confused that way. I'm going to quickly run through
way. I'm going to quickly run through this again. So, this is actually setting
this again. So, this is actually setting up on your app what your hair is like, like your hair profile. Click and do the hair profile. Set up your hair profile.
hair profile. Set up your hair profile.
So, my hair is naturally wavy, so ticking that one. It's long, so ticking that one. But yeah, you can go from very
that one. But yeah, you can go from very short to very long. You can choose fine, medium or coarse. My hair is medium. How
well does your hair retains style? Mine
is definitely quite well. Like my hair holds curls super well, but again, you can adjust that. And what's your styling skill level? So, I have put myself down
skill level? So, I have put myself down as advanced. I would definitely, and if
as advanced. I would definitely, and if you've seen my other video because I was so flustered at the beginning, if you're definitely a beginner, honestly, just put beginner because you want to make your life just super easy. And then what are your styling goals? I've put down
voluminous curls and waves, straightening, control frizz, quick daily styling, and then maintaining hair health. Save that profile. When I first
health. Save that profile. When I first use this, I didn't even watch this video, I don't think. But yeah, that is understanding ID decal. And even look, it says there. So, prepare your hair.
And it says you should make sure your hair is 80% dry. Okay, all done. So, the
other questions I got, people were struggling with actually getting their Dyson to connect. So, the first thing you actually want to do when you do install the app, you actually need to go into like your Bluetooth settings and
actually like link your air app to your phone. So, mine should have done that.
phone. So, mine should have done that.
If you are struggling to connect in your iPhone, I can only suggest iPhone because I've only got iPhone. Go into
settings, then go into apps, and you want to find the My Dyson app. And you
actually want that ticked on. So, you
want to allow Bluetooth services on.
Then you go back to your app. It does
say right now it's not connected, and that's cuz the tool's not on. As soon as you turn the tool off, then look, it will change and it will say connected.
If you go into product settings, click on a high heat. I thought this was really interesting. You can actually
really interesting. You can actually click that box to reduce the temperature. So, even when the air wrap
temperature. So, even when the air wrap is on the highest heat, for example, on that top red blob, if you click that and pop that down, it actually isn't even going to go up to the highest heat that
it actually can, which is 150. Because
yeah, I don't know about you, but I do find it quite hot sometimes just because the air flow is so powerful. But 150
does feel really hot. If that feels too hot on your scalp or especially near your ears, you can actually turn it down. And same again, you can actually
down. And same again, you can actually do this on the low heat. So on the middle heat there, if you feel like that's too cold for your hair or too cool, you can actually increase that heat if you just tick that box up there.
But I'm just going to leave the settings as they are because I'm just going to assume all of you guys have your settings just turned on on the normal one.
What I'm going to do, I've got my phone here in front of me. I'm not going to have it on camera, but I am going to screen record so you can see like what's happening on my phone at the same time.
So, make sure your arrow is pointing to the left cuz this is the left side of my head. I want this curl to go away from
head. I want this curl to go away from my face. All hooked up. We're ready to
my face. All hooked up. We're ready to go. It says it's not connected cuz it's
go. It says it's not connected cuz it's not on at the moment. But, I'm going to just swipe that up. Now, it's connected.
All we want to do, and it says it's ready. So, again, you can adjust the
ready. So, again, you can adjust the timings. I'm going to leave the timings
timings. I'm going to leave the timings as they are, but if you adjust the timings here, you could give yourself longer for the pull shot or longer to hold it on. Let's leave them as they are, which should just be the same as what they were last time. So, what I'm
not going to do now is change this button at all. All I want to do as soon as I flip that up into the eye curl mode, we're going to be rocking rocking and rolling and just ready to go. And it
just does its own thing. So, get my section ready, just comb that through a little bit. So, clip that up. Go. So,
little bit. So, clip that up. Go. So,
it's given us 7 seconds to wrap.
Perfect. Now, style. 7 seconds as well on the style. And now cold shot. This is where
style. And now cold shot. This is where I was going wrong. So, I was actually pressing the cold shot myself. And it
literally does it for you. So, that was quite a quick cold shot to be honest.
But, you know what? I'm just going to leave it as it is cuz look at that.
That's a brilliant curl. And again,
don't touch anything. Don't turn it off.
This is my mistake. I was doing it before. You want to leave that running
before. You want to leave that running and just leave it doing it thick. And
all you actually want to do is just move that to the right cuz now we're doing this side. So again, just going to
this side. So again, just going to detangle that hair. Have it ready to go.
And then I'm flipping up. Ready? Go. So
7 seconds to wrap, which is pretty perfect for me. 7 seconds to style.
me. 7 seconds to style.
and 5 seconds of corn shot and just release that. So, if you're a beginner, what it
that. So, if you're a beginner, what it would do, it would give you longer time to wrap. So, you've got longer kind of
to wrap. So, you've got longer kind of to not be flustered. What I am tempted to do is definitely just change the cool shot because, so this is what what happened last time. It doesn't instantly
go like that obviously from like being hot to then straightway cold. So, it's
only 5 seconds mine set at. It
definitely takes two seconds to actually even get cool. I tell you what, shall I change it? I'll change it because then I
change it? I'll change it because then I want I do want to show you guys what happens if you also want to change that.
And then I'm also just spritzing more plea onto these sections. Okay. So, I
want to adjust adjust the time. I'm
going to keep wrapping as it is. That's
perfect. Styling as it is, that's perfect. And I just want to give myself
perfect. And I just want to give myself longer for the call shot. Let's give
ourselves seven. Let's just make them all 777. Save. And now what happens? This
777. Save. And now what happens? This
actually saves onto my app. And it's
going to remember this the next time I then use my ID curl mode. So I want to just flip the arrow back to that way cuz I want this curl to go this side. And
then all you do Yeah. You're literally
just knocking that up. It doesn't stay there. You just push it up so it goes
there. You just push it up so it goes into the ID mode. Go. So, seven seconds of wrap, 7 seconds where you just leave it there,
styling, and now it'll be a new 7 seconds of cold cold shot. So, now I can actually feel it's cold, which works well. So, like when it was 4 seconds in,
well. So, like when it was 4 seconds in, I felt it actually go cold then.
Perfect. I'm impressed with that. Okay.
Okay, guys. I told you this would be an improvement. Definitely an improvement
improvement. Definitely an improvement on the last time I used this. Give the
hair a little detangle and then have it in position ready to go and push that up. And you can hear there's the change
up. And you can hear there's the change in the power instantly as you push it up. So now 7 seconds of
up. So now 7 seconds of style, 7 seconds of cold shot. Now I feel it's cold. Yeah. So, I
shot. Now I feel it's cold. Yeah. So, I
would say it takes 3 seconds to actually then feel cold. So, if you like your hair to like definitely have that cold shot and feel cold, I would max up that
cold shot kind of feature and extend the time in there. And as you can see, I'm actually working through this super quickly. Just been chunky section so
quickly. Just been chunky section so far. Now, I'm going to go up to like
far. Now, I'm going to go up to like recession point. The head is getting
recession point. The head is getting wider now at this point. Now, we're
going to have to start splitting into two sections. I can't tell you guys how
two sections. I can't tell you guys how much of a lifesaver these Dyson sectioning clips are. But they are so good. That's just one. It's so like firm
good. That's just one. It's so like firm on the top of my head. I love them so much. I'll link the sectioning clips
much. I'll link the sectioning clips down below in the description box. Give
each section a detangle. Mist it with some L'Oreal plea
detangle. Mist it with some L'Oreal plea just to give it extra hold. And now you can see that is like too chunky that section. So I'm just going to split that
section. So I'm just going to split that into two. And then yes, style that in two
two. And then yes, style that in two
sections. Okay. Into position. Swipe
sections. Okay. Into position. Swipe
[Music] up. And yeah, even if you don't have
up. And yeah, even if you don't have your phone in front of you to like see the settings and see the timer going down, like you can literally hear it.
the power just as you can hear it drops down just to this low humming sound. So
you just you definitely know when it's
[Music] over. Also guys, it's just reminded me I
over. Also guys, it's just reminded me I do want to talk about the positioning where I'm positioning the air wrap in my hair. So, a lot of you on my last video
hair. So, a lot of you on my last video were like, "You're positioning it from."
Ideally, the product is designed that you like put it into the ends because the ends are so fine and so lightweight.
It's got more power just to wrap it up.
What I find with that, a you're leaving the ends on the heat for the longest amount of time, which ideally you don't want to do. Like, your ends are the most fragile, they curl the easiest, like there's no need for them to be left on the longest. And B, personally on my
the longest. And B, personally on my hair, because it's naturally wavy, it's quite frizzone and fluffy, if I put it on the ends and just push it up and let it kind of do its thing, I actually get quite a bit of frizz. And like, you know, when your just hairs are shorter
throughout your head, I then get frizz.
So, what I actually like to do is I like to position it halfway. I'm literally
like pulling out my hair and popping it there like in the middle. It's still so powerful enough. It sucks up the end
powerful enough. It sucks up the end nicely, but then I can kind of more quickly push this up to the root. And
actually, instead of pushing it up, what I like to do is roll it up instead because then I find even like my shorter hairs are wrapping nicely around the barrel rather than like pushing it up and you're kind of causing a bit of
friction on the hair by pushing it up.
Personally, that works best for me. And
I would also say, yeah, if you find you're getting like frizzy results sometimes from using air wrap, I would do that and like roll it up a little bit rather than push it up. Okay, now we're working like on the top sections. So, I
like to start um sectioning horizontally and we're going to take all of that and work backwards. Now, definitely make
work backwards. Now, definitely make sure you're going in the right direction here. So, just make sure with your I
here. So, just make sure with your I guess if it depends what hand you're going to hold it in. I'm going to assume most of us hold it in our right hand.
This is my right hand. So, yeah, just make sure your arrow is going backwards cuz you want this to go back up and over.
Yeah, on these top ones, let me just turn it on. But I do actually like to start at the root and then just wrap it round within the 7 seconds. Um, like I don't like to
let the air wrap suction any hair off. I
just want to get it straight at the root. just for the most amount of like
root. just for the most amount of like root lift and volume here on the top. Then with this front bit, it's
top. Then with this front bit, it's completely up to you if you want to go forwards. I guess if you've got fringe
forwards. I guess if you've got fringe or bangs, you definitely want to go forwards and then split it into two. My
piece is so long at the front, so I'm just going to go back just to aim for volume. And then I'll just let it fall
volume. And then I'll just let it fall where it wants to fall.
[Music] I do always like to put a little pin just in this front one just to keep it out of my face and yeah, just allow it
to further cool and set cuz even though we do the cool shot, it's still like a touch warm. But yeah, whilst that's in,
touch warm. But yeah, whilst that's in, let me just get a lightweight hairspray and we'll just give our hair a little mist. Going in with the L'Oreal
mist. Going in with the L'Oreal Professional Infinium. At this point, guys, and I'
Infinium. At this point, guys, and I' I've raved about it in so many of my other videos, but light hairspray is your best friend. Don't go in on top of all this and just wear your hair down
with a sticky, heavy hairspray. Look at that bounce and that
hairspray. Look at that bounce and that volume. Pretty much all cool. Not like
volume. Pretty much all cool. Not like
in my usual videos where we need to like wait for the hair to cool because we've done the cool shot. was all cool. So,
we're just going to go in and dress out straight away. And to dress out, I love
straight away. And to dress out, I love to go in with just a little touch more oil. If you're scared of oil, okay,
oil. If you're scared of oil, okay, don't be first of all, especially if you're using a really nice lightweight oil, but just going with that little smidg in. And obviously, yeah, you can
smidg in. And obviously, yeah, you can always add more, but you can't take away. So, just going with a little bit
away. So, just going with a little bit first of all, and then what I like to do is yeah, just literally like rake through my hair. And I'll start off on these underneath sections. And I find just raking through with my fingers is
enough just to dress out these kind of Dyson air wrap curls. I don't
particularly feel like I need to take a brush or a comb through it. But by all means, you can also brush through or comb through if you want like an even softer look, but I know a lot of you just love this kind of look. And I'm
just going to leave that top bit. Just
work on this other side. Going to add a smidge more oil. Any kind of cast that you've got in your hair, maybe from the mousse or the hairspray. And a cast is like, you know, when you've got that
slight crisp or like it's not sticky, but like you can feel this spray or mousse or something in your hair. An oil
is great to break through that cast. So,
it doesn't stop those products doing what they're doing. They're still giving the hair that hold, but it just breaks through that top layer, which might be feeling like a bit crunchy, and it just makes your hair just feel nice and soft
and hydrated again. So, then this top bit, let's just dress through this and see where it wants to fall. Do I keep it on the side or am I going for back in
the center? I might go like kind of like
the center? I might go like kind of like off center slightly. Oh yeah, that looks good.
Guys, have we outdone ourselves here?
Have we outdone ourselves? Is this maybe one of the best times I've styled my hair with air wrap? Well, I don't know cuz there's actually so many times I use air wrap just off camera. Like it is honestly my go-to for quick styling,
especially on hair wash days. You know,
you just want that perfect blow dry that's going to last you and even if I like need to top it up the next day with like a wand or a tong or whatever, Dyson Era is just my go-to for just yeah on hair wash day if I need to dry my hair.
But honestly, I love the size of this curling wand, the 32 mm. I feel like yeah, it creates that perfect salon blow dry kind of look. Just super expensive
and just like perfect bouncy hair. And I
am so pleased I finally mastered the ID curl. I am not flustered with it at all.
curl. I am not flustered with it at all.
I did not get hot during this tutorial.
I was cool, calm, and collected. And
honestly, I feel like I got through it just super quickly as well. So, yeah,
the key tips I would just love to recap on. Style from damp hair. You want to
on. Style from damp hair. You want to make sure your hair is already like 80% dry. Prep your hair. So, I would
dry. Prep your hair. So, I would definitely recommend if your hair drops, prep it with like mousse or a blowd dry spray, something that's actually going to give it hold. Section your hair. So,
you definitely want to be keeping nice clean sections as you're working through just to keep it super neat and tidy. and
you know the pieces that you're working on, I would definitely angle this these like little arrows just towards your mirror so you know exactly if you're styling the left or the right side and which way the curls go in. And yeah,
just to recap on the ID curl mod, you don't need to be turning on and off.
Honestly, you don't really need to do anything. All you need to do is in
anything. All you need to do is in between curls, flip that up and then yeah, you're just ready to go. And as I mentioned at the start of this video, I have mine set to advanced level.
Definitely if you're a beginner, set it to beginner level and it will give you longer time to wrap around. So, there
you go guys, the perfected Dyson Air Wrap ID Curl tutorial. Please let me know down below in the comments if this is an improvement on the last video. I'd
really appreciate a thumbs up if you enjoyed this video, learned anything new. Let me know also if you have this
