Today I'm eating only matcha for 24

hours.

>> Good morning from Dodo, Japan. Today I

will only be eating matcha for an entire

24 hours. And guys, it's not just going

to be matcha lattes or matcha ice cream.

It's on another level. Starting with

breakfast. We're having pancakes, the

fluffy ones,

>> the jiggly ones, and of course our

matcha pancakes. So we got to go. By the

way, this is my sister, Amber. Hello.

And this is my mom. Here's the deal. I

am a matcha lover. I literally love it

so much enough that I have my own matcha

company, Nami Matcha. I also love

matcha, but I'm quite the foodie. And I

think Ashley will probably say anything

that contains matcha is delicious. But I

will tell you the truth if it actually

tastes good or not. And my mom is a

little bit of a matcha skeptic. I would

say it's growing on me. She'll let you

know if it tastes good. Even for someone

that's like a little me when I tell my

whole family we have to eat matcha for a

whole day cuz I'm doing a video about

it.

[Music]

>> Come look at the sign with me. This

place looks way better. I actually think

this was done by the grace of God. Let's

go.

>> Oh my god.

>> Sweet potato ho. Oh my god. I want that

one. This is lit. This is going to be

our breakfast. Everything happens for a

reason. Oh my god. Look at they're so

cute in the window.

>> Another 2-hour wait, guys. We are

getting cooked.

Rich green tea. Thank god. Thank god.

Mom, can I borrow your coins?

>> Thank you, Mom. Should we get a water,

too?

>> No. Only green tea allowed today. What?

What's not refreshing about a green tea

queen?

>> Um, this is like paying the vending

machine with dimes right now.

>> Yes. Wait.

>> Ooh, that's not what you

>> It's literally not the same.

>> Okay, this is off to a very weird start.

>> Why is the color kind of weird? And why

does it have like stuff growing on the

inside?

>> Give up on this idea. Let's Let's just

go.

>> Honestly, guys, thanks for subscribing.

Make sure to check back again next time.

Love you.

>> Let's at least smell this.

just die immediately.

>> It says 2026.

>> Try a drink. I'll drink it.

>> Okay. Actually, it's pretty good.

>> Okay. Okay. Life is good. Let's go.

>> Whatever.

>> Whatever.

>> Matcha girl.

Cutting our losses. We're going to

[Music]

30 minute car ride from Kyoto to Uchi.

And now we are here. And there has to be

matcha food here because Bji is very,

very well known in Kyoto Prefecture

specifically for having amazing matcha.

They have one road that has everything

matcha themed.

I'm so hungry. We tried so many

different stores. Okay, before we

actually go to the matcha street, we're

taking a quick view of the Uji River.

Oh, these are the stairs where Andrew

had a mental breakdown. This is so dear

to my heart.

>> Oh, we sat there with Andrew.

>> We sat there for like two hours with

Andrew and he just sat with his head

down and he was so sad cuz he thought

that he broke his whole camera. It

actually ended up being fine, but in the

moment he thought he just bought like a

$2,000 camera and then immediately

dropped it.

>> So cute.

Okay, now if you follow down this road,

this is everything matcha related. So,

we are on the lookout for a matcha

breakfast right now. This is so cute and

exciting for me. I'm ice cream.

[Music]

>> I have to buy everything.

>> Is that pancakes, bro?

>> Is that matcha pancakes?

>> Uh, I think it might just be matcha

pancakes.

>> Okay, here's where we're going to go and

get some pancakes. Appetizer time. As we

wait for pancakes to come, we need some

mi. So, we have it with kanakaco and

also matcha here. And then you pour over

the sweet syrup. I'm going to try the

matcha one first. Oh my god. Kill me.

That looks so good. Okay, let's go for a

matcha one.

>> It's so gooey.

>> Okay. Ready?

>> Yep.

>> There's a lot of matcha powder on that.

>> It's so yummy though.

>> Here I have usa. This is how they

traditionally make matcha. It basically

means thin tea. That's what means.

>> And now we have the most dankin

breakfast of all time.

>> The pancakes.

syrup.

>> Cheers.

>> Period.

>> Okay. Breakfast of champions,

>> guys. I'm already feeling sick of matcha

just by looking at this.

>> I'm not. Last time we came to Uji, we

ate so much matcha that it was like a

little pimmen wagashi.

>> That looked really soft. It's

>> so good.

>> Really?

That's so That's like the best thing.

>> Oh, very respectful, Queen. No, this is

so good. Normally, I'm not really into

this super strong matcha, but it's

yummy.

>> Wow. Good job, guys. We ate a very good

amount of this.

>> Tasted.

Now, I want a matcha latte, so we're

going to head to Nakamura Tokichien. I

thought it was closed today, but we are

lucky. And it's open. Look how

beautiful. This is a very iconic matcha

store. I'm really excited. Let's go.

Wa! Jeez.

[Music]

So freaking

>> Okay, so I think that this is the cafe.

So I want to get a latte and then I

believe this is the tea store right over

here. Okay. Okay.

>> Oh my god, this is so cute.

[Music]

Well, my latte is being made. Let's head

into the tea shop and see if they have

any matcha left.

>> It's probably been ransacked.

>> It probably has been ransacked.

>> We're doing samples.

>> Yay.

>> Matcha cake, she said.

>> Oh, cheers.

>> Very good. And creamy.

>> M. That is yummy.

$65.

30 g. Wow. $2 per grand. Very expensive,

but I want to try it.

>> Amber's running inside to go get my

latte. Thanks, Amber.

>> It's so beautiful here.

>> Thanks, Amber. Thank you very much.

>> Of course.

What happened to the matcha? Uh I Oh my

goodness. What is that thing? It's a

butterfly. It's a moth. Uh

she

walking by just saw that. Oh, actually

he's back.

>> It's on me, isn't it?

>> It's a moth. Yeah, I saw it face.

>> You can tell that it's a moth from it.

>> Yeah, cuz it's got that fat face.

>> Finally addressing why my m is half

empty. I tried it in a vertical video

first. Sorry guys. You can find it on

YouTube shorts. Anyways, you keep flying

in my

[Music]

>> Oh my god, it's all over you, bro. As I

was saying, the flavor is actually so

good. I love this. It's super nutty. And

although I ordered it unsweetened, it

did come a little sweetened, which is

always a little happy surprise. I'm not

going to lie. It's the tiniest bit

powdery, but I still think it's really

good. And most of all, this cafe is one

of the most gorgeous cafes I've ever

been to. So, if you're in Uji, come

here.

>> You have to come here. Like, do not pass

this up. And there's a lot of dogs here

for some reason.

>> Oh, I just realized he's wearing like

literally a t-shirt. Look at his legs.

>> You just realized he's wearing a

t-shirt.

>> Now, we are heading to lunch. And I love

the smell of the street. It literally

smells like they're milling green tea,

roasting green tea. It smells

immaculate. We're going to walk across

the Uji Bridge and take you to one of

our favorite secret soba spots. It's so

damn good, guys. It has It's like a soba

soba tray. It's like a soba dish. It's

like a soba. What's it called? It's like

a soba.

>> It's like a soba meal on a tray. It's

called a soba set. That's what I was

thinking.

>> What were you going to say?

>> I was going to say you look like

Primrose Everdine.

>> I volunteer.

>> Like you literally do. I'm curious.

She's my inspo every day.

every day.

[Music]

>> No,

we are taking L after L.

>> Okay, we just came by another place that

does in fact have matcha soba. So, let's

see if they're open. There's a closed

sign.

>> It is open.

Here's

the menu. All in Japanese, but luckily

there are pictures and we all got served

green tea. Iconic

looks so good.

We got all of our food. How are you so

jealous of our food? I'm so mad.

>> You know he wants to steal.

>> Let's start with eating the soba. I'm so

excited. On here we have our soba sauce.

I add all of the tacos. I'm going to add

pretty much all the wasabi.

>> I know. That's so good.

>> So, and we have some tempura and some

matcha powder.

>> Really?

>> Pepper.

>> Ooh.

[Music]

>> Is this really good? So much.

>> The texture is so good.

I just finished mine. You guys want to

see how much is left on Amber's plate?

>> Amber just chews really slow.

>> How long I always chew. I'm realizing

this is really long.

>> Subameoto

city. So delicious.

[Music]

>> Girl, you did it. Give me high five.

We're doing gyoza, man. Even though we

are full of soba, we had to do it. I've

been wanting this matcha gyoza since

last time we came. Yes, I got the matcha

gyoza. Yes, I ordered it all in

Japanese.

Period. They love a little matcha salt.

Very ginger forward. Not tasting that

much matcha. I must be honest. This is

still fun like as a quick little bite.

7.2 out of 10.

>> Next stop, Toby. The last time we were

in Uji, we made hand ground matcha with

Toby. And this is his matcha store.

While we were here, it started

downpouring and there were no taxis,

nothing. We were stranded.

>> Oh my god. Oh, there's no Ubers. We have

to take the train and it's so empty now.

This is so unfortunate.

>> But Toby arrived like an angel from

above and gave us a ride to the train

station.

>> Toby, it's our matcha. Matcha guide.

>> We owe a lot to Toby. We're going to go

buy some matcha from him. I think this

store is new. This wasn't here last

time. So, great job, Toby.

>> I love that they have these matcha

shakers so you can shake it and travel.

Perfect when you don't want to bring a

whole whisk and turn set. This is matcha

being ground still on a stone mill, but

by a machine. It takes 1 hour for 30 g

of matcha to be made on a machine like

this.

[Music]

>> Gucci

everyday tea drinking.

>> Oh, every day.

>> You are you are color red.

>> So nice.

>> Just go getting beer with him. He's

giving us water beer. Wait, this is so

nice. He asked, "Do we like beer?"

Mama's like, "No." Mama's like, "Just

say yes. Just say yes to try the beer."

>> Whatever he's saying, we have to say

yes.

[Music]

>> Wow.

Oh my gosh.

They don't like chips.

>> Thank you so much.

[Laughter]

Well, that was the best experience of my

life. We literally had the nicest Uber

driver ever. He was from Uji and he was

like, "I love Uji. I love tea." He also

was a tour guide. He gave us a full tour

of Uji basically. And we're going to try

the beer that he got us later, but for

now, it is dinner time. So, we're going

to try a little matcha rice dish.

Hopefully, they serve this rice dish.

It's like matcha rice. Let's go inside.

It's so beautiful in there. Look, cuz

matcha is so big. Another L. Dang it.

So,

I'm going to figure this out. Surprise.

We're at conveyor belt sushi. I give up.

I dragged her here. I said enough with

the matcha. Sushi. The conveyor belt is

filled to the brim. Oh, yeah. Like,

there's not an ounce of free space. And

I just got Oonie. Oonie is sea urchin.

Yeah, it's the delicacy girl.

M very fatty. Okay, my drink of choice

is obviously green tea, but they have it

in these little packs instead of like a

scoop. Let's make it.

>> I'm a crazy mofo. This is literally

corn.

>> This is failing your challenge. No, this

is not failing my challenge.

>> You're eating corn.

>> No, I am not just eating corn. I was

hoping this is powdered matcha. This is

like steeped tea.

>> But I have to commit.

>> What are you doing?

What are you doing?

>> You're taking it too far.

>> It's matcha corn.

>> Okay, you're really committed to the

bit.

>> Corn with matcha. Not even matcha. Corn

with sushi rice.

>> It's good. Oh my god. Oh my god.

Even though I feasted a million sushi, I

really got to try this. You have a

sweet. It has fish and soybeans. Need

that. I need a little bit of protein. I

have been pretty protein deficient

today, guys. If you calculate how much

protein I ate is probably like uh

nothing.

It has arrived. So, basically, it's like

really really liquidy tofu almost. Let's

dig in.

>> Underdeveloped tofu.

>> Wo.

I really like that.

>> Protein and dessert feasted.

Wow, that horse me got me [ __ ] up.

[Music]

>> Yeah. Dessert time. We're here at Koha

Matcha.

We're going to get matcha ice cream.

They're most popular for this one.

>> That looks so good.

>> Matcha avocado.

>> Ooh.

[Music]

Okay, we just went downstairs. We're in

a freaking cave made of just gold blocks

and maybe a little bit of redstone.

>> You want to eat this hoe? Yeah, let's

eat this house. Oh my god, so much

matcha later.

>> So much matcha. Cheers.

It's actually really good.

>> So good. Wow. I also chose the highest

quality matcha, so this was like $20.

But they put in a lot of matcha. Like, I

saw them scooping it and they were

scooping it. And I thought I would be

sick of matcha by now, but this is so

good. No, this just like revived me.

>> Mhm.

>> We got red beans and mochi.

I love mochi.

>> The mochi is so good.

>> This actually is fire.

>> Yeah, this is really good.

>> And we get a private room.

[Music]

[Music]

Hey guys, it's time to crack open a cold

one because you guys know how I end

every video, cracking open a cold can of

beer. So, why don't we do that together?

Admittedly, Amber and I are not the

biggest beer drinkers. We're kind of

allergic to alcohol, actually.

>> Yeah, we got that Asian gene where you

can't digest it. Have you ever drank a

whole beer before?

>> No. Me neither. Our Uber driver was so

nice and he got us this locally made

handmade beer. He said it's so cute. So,

it's called Cha Beer. Cyto Beer Lab Deep

Steamed Green Tea IPA. Wish Andrew was

here.

>> I know.

>> Andrew will chug this, girls. Let's

drink this beer.

It's exploding.

>> M.

>> Are you serious?

>> For a beer, it's good. way.

>> It doesn't have that like usual gross

flavor.

>> You got to pour some milk out.

>> Oh my god, I'm horrible. I'm horrible.

>> What's wrong with me?

>> Get that foam on it.

>> Right in my beer head.

>> It's horrible. I have to try. I'm

scared.

>> You know what? I actually think that's a

great beer. It tastes like beer,

>> but it's good.

>> But it doesn't taste like gross beer.

This tastes like I could drink it, which

is actually really impressive.

>> I could actually drink this whole cup if

I

>> Okay, do it.

This is the best beer I've ever had.

This is a great experience for me. And I

can taste the green tea flavor as well.

And we have two more cans that I think

we're going to try and travel home with

somehow.

It

>> really was a beautiful moment. Our Uber

driver was so nice to us. He gave us a

delicious bev. Should we try the regular

green tea he got us, too?

>> Oh, yes, we should. Here's our green

tea.

>> And it also says Bazooka finest green

tea.

Oh, can I smell

>> very distinct flavor?

>> I'm going to try.

>> So yummy. Well, now that I'm cracked

out, let's go to bed.

>> Yay. Wait, I want more.

>> I am so happy that we got to try this.

This was so cool. Shout out to our Uber

driver. He was actually the best Uber

driver I've ever had.

>> He literally turned our drive into a

sporadic adventure. He turned it into a

real guide.

>> It is definitely time for us to go to

bed. I'm filled with caffeine. Thank you

guys so much for watching. If you want

me to make another video similar to

this, maybe in New York or another

location or in Japan, give this a like

and subscribe so that we can buy another

plane ticket.

>> Love you guys. Good night.
