Hey friends, it was 1:37 a.m.

David was scrolling on his phone as usual.

His eyes had become heavy with sleep.

His body needed rest.

But David wasn’t ready to put his phone down.

And why should he?

He felt he deserved this time for himself.

After working hard all day like a laborer, handling so many different tasks, this was his “me time” — where he watched Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts.

And in the middle of it, he came across a YouTube video titled, “How to Become a Millionaire While Doing a 9-to-5 Job with a Side Hustle.” When he saw the title of the video, a smile appeared on his face — along with a slight irritation.

Before even watching the video, he went straight to the comments and wrote, “People like you have never done a 9-to-5 job yourselves.

You just write big, fancy things.

Business is easy for those who have never worked a job.” Irritated,

he added, “We are corporate laborers.”

“We don’t have time.” **Part

One – The Cycle** Every morning, David would wake up at 9:00 a.m.

His job started at 10:00 a.m.

He always thought he would wake up at 8:00, but he never managed to get up before 9.

After that, he would somehow rush to get ready.

Many times, he skipped breakfast because he had to reach the office by 10:00 a.m.

— something he hadn’t managed to do on time for years.

Once he reached the office, he never realized where the time went.

Sometimes he was replying to emails, sometimes responding to Slack messages, sitting in meetings, and handling random tasks here and there.

The entire day would go by doing so many things.

Yet, his manager felt like he wasn’t doing any real work — even though he had been working all day long.

There was so much work that by 6:00 p.m., he was completely exhausted.

When he returned home, his time went to his family — his wife and kids.

Sometimes friends would call, sometimes messages kept coming in.

Between dinner and everything else, it would already be 10 or 11 p.m.

After that, where was the energy left to work on a business?

And in the end, when everyone went to sleep, around 12:30 a.m., he would open his phone and start his “me time” — which often went on for quite a while.

He would think it would be just half an hour — but he never realized when it turned into one and a half or two hours.

His life was running on repeat like this.

**Part Two – The Crack** Then one Saturday, which was a holiday, some guests came over to his house.

His cousins were laughing and joking loudly.

In the middle of it, one of his cousins said something that completely shocked David.

“I’m quitting my job.” David looked at his cousin and said, “What?”

His cousin replied, “Yes, I told you, right?

A few months ago, I started my own business.

Now it’s getting some traction, so I’m thinking of quitting my job.

I’m not earning a lot of money yet, but I feel that if I give it more time, the business will do really well.” David’s forehead wrinkled a little.

He said, “How did you even start this business along with your job?” His

cousin replied, “I take out two to three hours every day to work on my business.

That’s how I built a solid base.” Now a slight smile appeared on David’s face.

His cousin realized that David thought he was lying.

But he said, “No, some time ago I watched a YouTube video about time management.

In that video, there was a book recommendation — *The Effective Executive*.

After I read that book, I started managing my time much better.

That’s why I was able to give just one to two hours daily, and the business started doing well.” David said, “Okay,” but deep inside, his mind was still racing with thoughts.

“Bullshit.

No one can build a business by giving just one or two hours.

Either luck is on his side, or he’s just talking big.

Maybe he even got fired from his job.” But something about it sparked something inside David — something that hadn’t awakened in him for years.

It was curiosity.

And no matter how much he tried, he couldn’t get rid of it.

So the next day, which was a holiday, he thought, “Let me order that book.” But

he couldn’t clearly remember the exact name of the book, so he wasn’t able to search for it properly online.

There was a mall near his house that had a big bookstore.

So he decided to go there and buy the book in person.

**Part Three** Now, filled with that same curiosity, he walked into the bookstore.

After entering, he felt a little restless, looking around here and there.

He searched in the business section, the productivity section, the self-help section, even the best-selling section — everywhere — trying to find the book.

But he couldn’t figure out which one it was.

Just then, he noticed a man standing beside him who looked quite smart and confident.

He looked like someone who had read a lot of books, so David asked him for help.

David said, “I’m looking for a book for executives… something related to time management.” The

man understood within just two or three words which book he was talking about.

He said, “Peter Drucker — a classic.

Very good choice.” “But unfortunately, you won’t find that book here on the shelf.”

“You want to become an effective executive in life.” Hearing this, David was a little shocked.

He wondered how the man understood the book so quickly.

Smiling awkwardly, he said, “No, sir, I’m not some executive.

I just do a small job.” The man smiled and replied, “Do you think you have even a little control over your time?” He said, “Yes.

Do you have even a little choice in deciding what work you will do during the day and what you won’t?”

David replied, “Yes.” The man smiled and said, “Then you’re already an executive.

Maybe you’re just not effective yet.

That’s a different matter.” Smiling, he continued — **Part 4 – Effectiveness Can Be Learned** He said, “My name is Doctor Book.” David looked puzzled.

“Doctor Book?

Why is your name so strange?” “Well, many times people come to me with their problems, and I help them find solutions using the philosophy and psychology from books.

That’s how I got this name.” “Come, sit.

To be honest, I have two copies of *The Effective Executive* left.

I was planning to gift them to someone.

I can give one copy to you.” Dr.

Book took the book out from his special cabin, placed it in front of David, and said, “I will give you this book, but on one condition.

First, you must accept that effectiveness is not a talent, not intelligence, and not even hard work.

It is discipline — and a set of practices that you can learn, if you truly want to.” “Do you agree with this?

”David said, “Yes… I agree.” “Well, in this book, Peter Drucker also says the same thing — effectiveness means how you can create maximum output in minimum time.

How you can make the best use of your time.

This is something that can be learned, and that’s exactly what this book teaches.”

“Most people’s problem is that they stay busy all day.

They work a lot, but they don’t actually move forward.

Is something like that happening with you too?” David replied, “Yes, that’s exactly what’s happening with me. My entire day goes by.

I do work — it’s not like I don’t.

Yet, I feel like I’m not getting anywhere.”

“Then this book is meant for you.

But as I said, I’ll give it to you only if you meet one condition.” David asked, “What’s the condition?” Dr.

Book said, “I have one question.

Imagine that 30 years from today, you’ve reached the future.

You have a lot of money. You’ve become very rich.

And at that moment, a genie comes to you and offers you a deal — give me all the money you have, and in return, I will send you 30 years back in time.”

“So, would you take that offer?

Think before you answer.” David thought about it for a moment and realized, “Yes… money can be earned again.

But those 30 years that have passed are far more important.” David

said, “Yes.” Dr.

Book replied, “Any intelligent person would do the same.

Because time is the most scarce resource.

You can earn money again, but once time is gone, it’s gone forever.

It never comes back.”

“But the problem is that most people don’t understand the value of time.

Our memory lies to us.

That’s why many times what we think we’ll do, we don’t actually do.

We don’t manage our time, and we just start doing random things.

So here’s your challenge.

The task — which Peter Drucker also teaches in this book — is time logging.

Not planning… logging.

Logging.” David asked, “What does that mean?” “Well, logging means that for the next seven days, you have to create a record of what you do every hour.

For example, if you worked on something at the office for one hour, you need to write it down.

From 5:00 to 6:00 p.m., I did this.” “From 6:00 to 7:00 a.m., I did this.” “Do you think you can do this?” David replied,

this.” “Do you think you can do this?” David replied, “It sounds a little boring and difficult… but yes, I can do it.” Dr.

Book said, “Alright. Do this exercise and come back.

I’ll give you this book for free.

And along with it, there’s one more very important and powerful thing.

I’ll give that to you for free as well.” “Within the cost of this book, you’ll actually get something that will help you apply its lessons in real life.

But for that, you first need to complete this exercise.

After finishing it, come back next Sunday at 8:00 p.m.

I’ll meet you then.” “Now, before we move ahead in the video… friends, I want to make a special announcement.

*The Effective Executive* by Peter Drucker is a very powerful book.” Peter Drucker, who is considered a modern management guru, explains how you can manage your time at a CEO level.

He teaches how to create the best possible output in the least amount of time, along with many other important lessons in this book. I

have created a complete, detailed summary of the entire book on Summary Board.

It includes chapter-wise breakdowns with all the important points you shouldn’t miss, carefully summarized for you.

Now, coming back to the story — **Part Six: The Audit** When he went home, he searched a little about Dr. Book and found out that Dr. Book was actually a very well-known personality.

He had brought significant changes into the lives of many people.

Understanding all this, he decided to do the exercise.

For David, it was very difficult in the beginning.

For the first one or two days, he couldn’t even do it properly.

But by the third or fourth day, under a bit of pressure — and mainly because of Dr. Book’s words and reputation — he somehow managed to complete it.

And as soon as he did, a clear pattern started to appear in front of him.

Seeing that pattern, he was shocked — and he could barely contain himself.

But he had to tell Dr. Book.

Somehow controlling himself, he waited for Sunday, and at 8:00 p.m., he went to meet him.

As soon as he reached, he told the doctor, “I noticed a very clear pattern.

During the day, I never get one or two hours completely free.

There’s always some kind of distraction.

But if I wake up early in the morning, I can get one to two uninterrupted hours.”

As soon as Dr. Book heard this, he agreed and said, “Yes, you’ve understood a very crucial truth on your own.

Morning is the best uncontaminated time — when you can increase your effectiveness the most.

I could have told you this myself, but when you realize it on your own, its value becomes much greater.” After that, Dr. Book… He handed him *The Effective Executive* and said, “From tomorrow, start reading this book.

And from tomorrow morning, wake up early and begin working on your goals.

If you’re not able to do it, then come and meet me again next week at 8:00.” David happily took the book, almost like it was a reward, and left.

at 8:00.” David happily took the book, almost like it was a reward, and left.

He said confidently, “I promise, I’ll read it.”

So the next day, full of enthusiasm, he tried to wake up early.

He set an alarm for 6:00 a.m.

At 6:00, he couldn’t wake up. At 7:00, he still couldn’t wake up.

At 7:30, his body was telling him, “Just sleep a little more.” But

because of the commitment he had made, he finally forced himself to get up.

In the beginning, this itself felt like a huge achievement for him.

For the first thirty minutes, his mind wouldn’t even function properly.

He tried to do something, but he couldn’t work effectively.

The next day, he tried to wake up again.

He did wake up.

But he still couldn’t get much done.

Some days it worked, some days it didn’t.

And in the middle of all this — along with the chaos of office work — he couldn’t find time to read the book again.

So the next week, he went back to Dr. Book.

He told him how hard he had tried, but there was a strong resistance.

He said, “I’m just not able to wake up in the morning.

And now I’m starting to feel a lot of guilt.

Earlier, I used to sleep till 9:00 a.m. without any guilt.

But now I feel so guilty that I don’t even understand what I should do.”

“How can I wake up early?

Please tell me some method.” Dr.

Book explained, “In this book, Peter Drucker gives an important lesson.

If you want to become an effective person, you must shift your focus from activities to contribution.” **Part Seven – Contribution** “Most people fail — they can’t wake up early, they can’t work properly — because they stay busy with activities.

They focus only on being busy, not on making a real contribution.”

Reading emails, learning random skills, watching random videos — because of all this, people stay busy.

Many times, they even multitask.

But none of these things bring real results.

It’s just like running on a treadmill.

You burn a lot of energy, but you don’t actually move forward.

If you truly want to wake up early, you first need to decide what contribution you want to add to the world.

For example, if I want, I can help people by giving them money — which I sometimes do.

But that’s not the most effective way, because I don’t have unlimited money.

And just by giving money, I can’t fix someone’s health or make someone rich in the long term.

So these things are not the most effective ways to truly help people.

For me, the most effective way to help is to change people’s mindset — so that they start going to the gym on their own, or if they don’t have money for the gym, they can work out at home.

If they don’t have money for a business, they can bootstrap it.

If they still need funds, they can learn how to raise funding.

That’s why I teach people the lessons from books.

And that’s why I’m teaching you too.

Today, on a Sunday, I’m able to sit here and talk to you because I know this is my contribution to society.

And somewhere, this contribution will also help me move forward in life.

“In the same way, David, you also need to find something through which you can contribute.” And for this, Dr.

can contribute.” And for this, Dr. Book gave another example.

A man was passing by on the road when he saw three laborers laying bricks.

He went to the first laborer and asked, “What are you doing?” The laborer replied angrily, “Can’t you see?

I’m laying bricks.”

The man moved ahead and asked the second laborer, “What are you doing?” He replied, “I’m joining bricks together to build a wall, which will eventually become a house — and a church.” Then he asked the third laborer, the one

a church.” Then he asked the third laborer, the one who looked the happiest and was working the hardest.

The third man smiled and said, “I am building a house for God.” “Where people will come, share their pain, and lighten their hearts.” “Now tell me, David — among these three, who do you think will work with more heart?

Who will work harder and for longer?” David replied, “The third one.” “Why?” “Because he’s not just focused on the activity.

one.” “Why?” “Because he’s not just focused on the activity.

He’s focused on the contribution.” “So if you also want to wake up early and work on your business, don’t just think about the activity.” Think about what you will contribute after doing it.

David sat there and started thinking.

He thought, “If I start a business in the health industry — creating and selling products that help people lose weight — how much contribution could I make to fitness?” As he brainstormed, he began to gain clarity.

Then Dr. Book said, “Yes.

From this contribution, you need to create your *why*.

That ‘why’ will help you wake up every morning.

And after waking up, you must follow this lesson.” **Part 8 – Do the Right Things First** To become an effective executive — to manage your time at a CEO level — you don’t need to do more work.

You just need to do the right work.

Effective people don’t do everything. But

they definitely make two lists — either in their mind or practically on paper.

And you will also need to do these two things.

David asked, “Which two things?” Dr.

Book explained, “First, create a **Stop Doing List**.

In this list, write down the tasks you do that don’t really add any value.

For example, sitting in meetings where you have no real input, or doing work that isn’t aligned with your expertise.

Second, create an **Offload List**.”

“You need to delegate the tasks that someone else can do instead of you.

Give those tasks to others.

In the beginning, you’ll face problems while doing both of these things.

But once you start applying them, you’ll begin using your time much more effectively.

Again, for example — in this shop, I could just sit here and contribute by selling books to people.” But that’s something the people who work for me can also do.

For me, it’s better to make YouTube videos, meet people like you, and create a direct impact — something that no one else can do in the same way I can.

That’s why I create videos on social media.

I focus on work that creates maximum contribution and that only I can do.

That’s the second thing you need to do to wake up early.

Now, contribution will give you your *why* — as I explained.

From that, you’ll get your *what* — what exactly you need to do.

That’s what will give you clarity.

And this clarity will help you wake up early, because you’ll know exactly what you’re waking up to do.

As you mentioned, earlier you were waking up and doing random things.

You won’t enjoy doing random things — and you won’t be able to wake up consistently either.

And along with this, there’s one last thing you must do.

Otherwise, you simply won’t wake up in the morning.

Make a quality decision.

This is the most important thing you need to do to wake up early — take a non-negotiable decision.

Whenever you tell your mind, “Wake up at 7:00,” or “Wake up at 8:00,” or “Wake up at 6:00,” if every morning you give yourself the option to negotiate… If you leave it up to your mind to decide whether to wake up or not, you won’t wake up.

But if you make a quality decision and stick to it — no matter what — for example, “I will wake up at 7:00 every morning,” then in the beginning, yes, there will still be problems. But once you commit to it and practice it consistently, waking up will eventually become a natural habit.

Most people fail right here.

They don’t make this important decision.

Instead, they keep making many small decisions every day.

Every morning, they decide whether to wake up or not.

Because of this, sometimes they wake up, sometimes they don’t — and the habit breaks.

But today, you need to make a special, high-quality decision: a non-negotiable decision that says, “I will wake up every morning at 7:00.” And that’s it.

Obviously, 99% of people won’t be able to do this.

But if you want to be in that 1%, you have to do this.

Do you want to be in the 1%?

Do you truly want to do business?

Do you truly want to contribute? David replies, “Yes, of course.

I want to change my life.

I will definitely do this.” He makes a commitment in front of Dr. Book that he will wake up at 7:00 every day, no matter what — and then he leaves.

After making this commitment, the next day he wakes up at 7:00 very well.

He works hard throughout the day.

By night, he’s exhausted, and again ends up going to bed late.

But the next day, he remembers Dr. Book’s words: there will be problems, things will be all over the place, and even if he gets two full hours of sleep, he still has to wake up at 7:00.

Thinking this way, he gets up again.

In the first week, it’s very difficult for him.

But he notices something — in just one rough week, he has done more work on his business than he had in the past several months.

He wrote three or four articles. In week two, he continued working.

Somehow, he created a landing page.

By the third week, he had built an email list.

In just one or two months, slowly but surely, it started becoming a habit.

Now waking up at 7:00 had become second nature for him.

This is where he found himself.

The compound effect showed its results — and after a year, the impact was clear.

After this, one year later, David went back to that bookstore — not as a customer, but as an effective executive.

David came in carrying a big gift hamper for Dr. Book and said, “Thank you, sir.

Because of you, my whole life has changed.

I have become a morning person.

Three months ago, I even quit my job.” “Today, I have a customer base of thousands of people who regularly buy my protein bars and health supplements.

None of this would have been possible if you hadn’t taught me everything a year ago.

Otherwise, even today, I would still be stuck in the same job, thinking that doing business while working a job is impossible.” After this, the doctor smiled, appreciated him, and said, “Changing your life was my greatest *gurudakshina*.

Thank you so much for letting me be a part of your transformation.” “That

contribution gives me the strength to wake up early every morning, to put in extra effort and to become more effective.” After this, they shook hands, and David left.

The interesting thing was that as David was leaving — because he also creates content, posts on social media, and teaches people how they too can leave their jobs and start their own business — he noticed a comment.

The comment said, “Only those people who have never worked a job themselves make such videos.” He smiles and wishes that this person also finds a Dr. Book in their life.
