i will kick this off and

again welcome you and thank you for

joining us today

so first off is our dean radical station

who will talk to you about

talk to us about the global campus

vision and who we are

thanks joe for the introduction do you

want to slide move to the next slide

good morning good afternoon good evening

wherever you are i just want to say

welcome to

learning more about sdsu global campus

all that we do

and today we have a set of panelists who

will be sharing information about our

programs

but before we get there i just want to

say

we are proud to be part of a phenomenal

university and a

leader in the california state public

education system

and what we bring is

a an access to that excellent education

for everyone who is not an in-person

full-time student that's studying on

campus so extending our sdsu mission

with flexible access with the amazing

instructors that inspire everyone

uh that that they that we all meet

together

in our alumni and our local and our

regional community communities

we offer tailored support for

non-traditional adult learners

we serve both on-campus students as well

as

online students we welcome international

students

who have access to sdsu through

various programs that we offer and of

course we are

a partner with the local

and global workforce through our

professional development programs

so let's talk a little bit more about

what they are

next slide please joe thank you

so aside from flexible programs we offer

the same

sdsu degree that with the same

curriculum

that is accredited and supported by

the by wasc by our creditor

by the campus community

and by our faculty senate they are

taught by

these programs are taught by our

instructors

uh and the support that you will find uh

which we will talk about

um at an upcoming session that joe will

mention at the end

is unique because we tailor it

to be available offline and in a

responsive and virtual way

to the students that are indeed working

with us

so let's talk a little bit about what

these programs are

starting from the top we have degree

completions and these are

for students who have either completed

an associate's degree or have transfer

credits that can help them finish the

degree program

we have microsites which is a unique

program that

our sdsu panel will talk about in a

minute

that partners with local colleges we

have

a variety of programs that help our

traditional students

our existing in-person students

accelerate and finish

we have international programs which

again our panel will talk about and show

you how

if you're international you can enter

sdsu with our programs

graduate and degree certificates which

will help everyone

advance in their career and potentially

also pursue a degree through a

certificate

and finally we have a range of

professional

uh adult learning and other programs a

lifelong learning programs which

which engage serious hobbyists

uh people who want to burnish their

career in some way and prepare for the

next step that they're considering if

it's a career change

we're very excited to for you to learn

more about our programs

and we welcome you to add any questions

you have in the chat

because being many things for many

people can be confusing

so with that i'm going to turn you back

over

to the next slide which is

a student tanya who is going to

share with us in her own words

what her experience has been working

with one of our online degree completion

programs

hi i'm tanya and i am part of san diego

state university's

global campus i've chosen the business

administration program

because it actually aligned with my

current role as a client support

tech and the fully online program

would enable me to actually juggle work

volunteering and also

social and personal relationships too

which is extremely important um one of

the

probably favorite memories thus far was

getting to work with someone from my

mom's home country which is a pretty

rare occurrence so it really speaks to

the diversity on campus

both on and offline and

this program i know that i'll gain the

experience and skills necessary to

really

elevate where i'm at in my career and

achieve the desired salary so thanks for

this opportunity to share a little bit

about myself

all right that's one of our

bachelor's degree from patient students

and next up casey

will talk to us about these programs hi

everyone

as you heard tonya is in our bsba

program our bachelor's of science and

business administration

it's one of our many online degree

completion programs at the undergraduate

level

these programs are designed for students

that have some units um

60 or more and but need to come and

finish their degree

they're either in a fully online or

hybrid format we have multiple starts

each year which means we have both a

fall and spring admission cycle so if

you're finishing up your

transfers or associate's degree at a

local community college

or even anywhere we have these

degree programs where you can come in

and finish your two years

if they're fully online again they're

financial aid eligible

and they are the same exact degree that

you would earn if you were in an on

campus program

so you'll see on the right we have our

list of current programs which is ever

growing

and we're adding more um we right now

have applications

uh for fall 21 open through april 30th

uh let's hear from another one of our

students in our criminal justice degree

completion program

hi everybody my name is lily kashishan

i'm currently enrolled in san diego

state university global campus to get my

bachelor's in criminal justice

i work full-time as a paralegal so when

i was looking at colleges to apply to

was definitely important for me to find

something that was going to be flexible

with my schedule

and the global campus does just that

now keep in mind even though it is a

global campus you're not going to feel

disconnected from your instructors or

even the students

and i really love that about this

program because we have a home room we

have a ta and even the instructors

they're always there willing to help you

if you have any questions

regarding your assignments i highly

recommend the criminal justice program

to anybody interested in the field

after i graduate with my bachelor's i

plan on transferring to law school

good luck to everybody

so as you were hearing a little talk

about these degree completion programs

have

a lot of support built in and

specifically our microsite programs

these are

brand new we launched them in fall 2020

and if you are a student in the san

diego region

finishing your associate's degree at one

of our local community colleges

you have the opportunity to join a

global campus

microsite degree completion program in

the areas listed on your right right now

communication business administration

child development and criminal justice

and you can complete these programs

without ever having to step foot on

sdsu's campus um

there's built-in support such as

tutoring on-site success advising and of

course

the caveat with the on-site right now is

uh it's virtual due to covid but as soon

as cobin 19 restrictions are released

the on-site success advising and

tutoring for these programs will resume

our current partners in the local san

diego region are san diego city college

san diego mesa college and southwestern

college

and we are working to grow those

partnerships as well and the programs

that are offered

so they're designed for pathways so if

you're finishing or working on your

associate's degree at one of these

community college partners

you'll be able to easily transfer into

our sdsu microsite degree completion

program

with all the prerequisites completed and

ready to to

finish your degree at sdsu within two

years

and uh with that i'll turn it over to

joe brock for

student achievement all right

thank you casey so we have a couple of

programs that we wanted to talk about

that uh well geared primarily towards

our

traditional on-campus students they're

also available to community members and

and other folks who want to get in get

an advancement or a leg up on their

program

so we've got winter session and then we

have one unit courses winter session is

typically offered in the gap between

fall and spring semesters

and i just want to point out both of

these programs are intensive programs

you're compressing

a semester's worth of time into a very

short period

but it gives students an opportunity

to either catch up on something or to

get ahead in their degree

program um or add an elective that they

wanted to take we offer variety programs

from all the colleges across campus

they are just like our other programs

taught by the same instructors

as our on-campus programs and they're

available

like i said the winter session is in the

gap typically

mid-december to early january and their

one unit courses are offered throughout

and these are typically uh two sessions

like a friday saturday

combination but we have some other

varieties but you can check our website

for more details

but uh each of those programs will give

everyone a chance

even people in the community to either

take single courses or

or have an opportunity to get ahead in

their degree

plan so we hope you

will check that out on our website and

now i will

um take it back to eddie or

i'm sorry introduce eddie uh to talk

about our international programs

all right thanks joe and great to great

to be here with everyone

um my name is eddie west and i work at

global campus overseeing

our international programs uh mainly

programs for

international students from all over the

world

to come to sdsu for purposes

um that include long and short-term

study

i'm going to go through a couple of

different programs and then give some

general information about folks who

might be interested in study abroad

uh but for now we'll start with uh the

semester at sdsu program on the left

side

semester at sdsu is a very cool program

for students from another country who

want to come and study at sdsu

take credit bearing courses alongside

fully matriculated sdsu students earn

credits and then be able to bring those

credits back to their home country and

apply them towards

a degree program in their home country

so it's basically like

if you're a student thinking about

studying abroad in another country

overseas

it's the same idea except it's for

students from overseas who want to come

study

at sdsu and it's really it's really cool

because we get students from all over

the world

germany denmark finland japan

china korea and on and on and they just

immerse themselves in the campus culture

and campus life

as well as enjoying uh all of what san

diego has to offer

so when you're here at sdsu studying in

your classes you may be studying right

alongside some of our international

students in the semester at sdsu program

the middle program on the screen the big

globe is our undergraduate pathway

program

and what this program is also very cool

is if you're a student say in mexico

say in china say in

brazil and you want to come study at

sdsu but you don't yet

have the english skill in order to be

able to

do so meaning you don't you don't have

the proficiency

in order to be admitted or to succeed we

can enroll you in what we call our

undergraduate pathway program

and that is essentially a combination of

english as a second language coursework

plus credit bearing coursework so

essentially allow students who don't yet

have that english proficiency they need

to be successful

to get a jump start on their academic

studies by taking classes that are less

language intensive alongside actual

english as a second language

courses so we're just launching this

program uh this fall

and are very excited about it so if any

of you are interested and or know folks

overseas

who might be interested you might want

to have a look at that program

and last but not least our certificate

programs on the right hand side

global campus you can tell as our dean

explained and joe and casey also did we

do a lot of different stuff

including not just degree programs but

short-term certificate programs

so those can be in a wide range of

different disciplines from

business to uh hr to uh

entertainment to hospitality and tourism

management

and they're geared towards students who

just want a short-term certificate

experience so

say six months or maybe 12 months

however

one of the cool things about our

certificate programs is

whether you're a domestic student

meaning a local student here in

san diego or elsewhere in america or

you're an international student

you can enroll in some of these credit

bearing certificate programs that we

offer at global campus and apply those

credits that you earn

toward a degree should you later choose

to do so

so very very cool we've got so much more

uh to offer but not enough time to talk

about it all

i will just also highlight any of you

who are on the call today

or may be checking in later who are

interested in coming to sdsu

as a freshman or a transfer and are

thinking i'd like to study abroad

so many opportunities at sdsu to do so

even

or including for our degree completion

students there's a session at three

o'clock today that i would point your

attention to

all about study abroad at sdsu so check

that out if you so desire

uh so thank you and i think i'm going to

turn it now back over to

casey thanks eddie

um so what i want to chat with you now

about is our graduate degrees and

certificates

we i talked earlier about our

undergraduate our degree completion and

our microsite programs

we also have a number of graduate level

master's level

both certificates and master's programs

and the cool thing about many of our

certificates is that they actually stack

into

master's degrees as well so you'll see

in our advanced certificate regulatory

affairs and public health

those advanced certificates will prepare

you and

allow you to transfer those units into

the master's programs that we have

on the left-hand side in regulatory

affairs and public health

these are uh either fully online or

hybrid programs

hybrid and that some portion of the

degree is

in a face-to-face format on site

and um these programs are also fully

financial aid eligible

they are cohort based and um

are many of them are also accredited by

the crediting bodies for the school

uh that they belong to at sdsu and just

like with the undergraduate degrees

the degree completion programs the

degree you earn is the same as the

degree that you would earn in the

face-to-face on-site program

at sdsu and they're taught by the

sdhq department faculty and lecturers

and the experts that

sdsu uses just designed for

people that can't come face to face to

the main campus

monday through friday nine to five so

people that are working full time have

families

flexible schedules asynchronous in the

online format

and we are also growing these programs

as well we have

a number of graduate programs and more

to come in in the coming years so

please come back and check out our

website for if you if you see

uh if you don't see a program listed

here that you're interested in

we're always adding new programs we'd

love to hear from you if there's

something you want to see uh and what i

love now to turn it over to one of our

students in our graduate programs

he is in our master's in public

administration program let's hear what

brandon has to say

hi my name is brandon lum i live in

sacramento california

and i'm an mpa student at san diego

state university global campus

being a full-time state employee board

member for a non-profit organization

coast guard reservist full-time father

and husband

i joined global campus because i needed

the flexibility

i decided on the mpa program for one

main reason

that being my dedication to public

service i always knew and will always

want to provide goods and services to

the public in an efficient manner

and i know the mpa program will help

bring out those desires

additionally i know the mpa program will

help groom me and prepare me

for more leadership roles in both my

civilian career

and my military career lastly i aspire

to be a professor

teaching the next generation of homeland

security professionals

that seek to implement government policy

in an efficient manner

thank you so one of the things you heard

from brandon is that he actually lives

in sacramento and that's a great uh

point to make for these programs both

the graduate programs and the

undergraduate degree completion programs

is that

if they're fully online you don't have

to live in san diego you don't live in

california even

the programs are primarily asynchronous

meaning that you log in

when you are able to after work

on the weekends when you're not

supporting your family

so that's one thing i wanted to point

out is that the great thing about these

programs is you can take them anywhere

and uh with that i'll turn it back over

to joe for

uh some information on our professional

development programs

yes thank you casey in addition to the

degree programs that you know you get a

diploma they're fully matriculated

students

we offer a broad range of professionally

developed pro

development programs we have more more

than 20

certificates and i won't go through this

entire list that you see on screen

but these are designed for those who

want to

advance at the in their career and or

enhance their

current you'll learn more about their

current job that they're in

lifelong learners as radical mentioned

earlier we have a

you know we've got uh virginia c towards

the end of the list we

you know we have business of craft beer

which is very popular in san diego we've

got business of wine

most of these programs here these

program tests like those last two

admission have some sensory elements

that are

still offered in in person but these

programs as well

are online flexible asynchronous

fit designed to fit into your lifestyle

with your

schedule and it makes it a

very easy and accessible method to

enhance your career or attain your life

goals uh

so we also encourage you to check out

these programs as well

they're on our website

and that's really a very broad

and high-level brush of our program

offerings

right now we'd like to open up to if

there's any q a i know we have one

question that was answered already

you're always welcome to join us at our

visit our website or give us a call at

these numbers here or if you want to

email which

uh it's global campus at sdsu.edu

so we'll open it up now if there's any

other questions

and in the meantime if the other

panelists have any things they want to

highlight

and add very very please feel free to

speak up

hey joe this is uh radhika i just wanted

to

make sure to remind everyone about the

the session that follows later in april

and our services yes

uh on april 17th we will have another

session

so that will focus totally

and this is actually a very exciting

session because we've done some great

things

we have developed a student center that

is designed to

meet your needs from beginning to end

from

inquiry through graduation we've got

a set of admissions advisors to help you

get into programs

and we have a set of success advisors

that help you through your program

so on april 17th we will have another

session that really talks about this

how we've worked with campus to bring

all of the student services that you're

familiar with in person on campus

we've been able to get most of those in

a virtual environment

you know covid obviously helped

accelerate that plan

but we're very excited about what we can

offer the sensor community that we've

built i could tell you anecdotal stories

but

uh for anyone who's a little nervous of

an online format and not feeling

connected as you heard from our students

who spoke they are very connected with

their instructors and their fellow

students

and we have some programs to help do

that through our

student center so please join us on

april 17th

which is the next explore sdsu day

same time at 9 30 in the morning and

we'd love to see you there

so at this point i don't see any more

questions

and we appreciate

all of you attending and we hope you

have a great day at explore sdsu

good to see some other great things

about san diego state university

and we look forward to seeing you on

campus or online

okay thank you very much thank you

everyone

thanks everyone

you
