but really how noiseless are noiseless pickups that's the question today hi how are you doing my name is Landon this is lando 27

music alright let's get real hi how you doing I hope you're doing okay I'm Landon this is lando 27 music and I hope you're doing ok which I just said if you haven't already please

subscribe to my channel and click the like on this video let's get this video to 8 million likes they'll be awesome um so today we're doing a mod video and a

blind tone challenge at the same time and the point of this video is I've got a set of fenders generation 4 Telecaster noiseless pickups Gen 4 noiseless that's

what they call them and I've been curious about these noises pickups for a while from what I know and the ultra series are on generation 5 which you can't buy standalone yet but I got a

pair of these and I'm gonna pop them into my shoulder when I pop my shoulder back in I'm gonna pop them into this Telecaster this is my roasted maple tele

that currently has I'm gonna up here because I've got the case still it currently has twisted tele pickups in it I'm gonna do some tone samples of each pickup and we're gonna do a blind tone

challenge and see if you can pick out which is which as well along with that I'm gonna show the whole process of swapping out the pickups because it's super easy it's really easy to do this

this mod because I've got an obsidian wire wireless kit it's a four-way wiring switch so it's just a matter of pulling out the cables and reconnecting other ones and of course mounting the pickups

so do you have to take the bridge off son of them man I forgot about that part that always sucks okay so the strings are coming off - this is more work than I expected

I always expect less work and then I do more work than I expected look at that neck come on what are we talking about take a look at the timestamps everything will be in the timestamps you can see

what I'm doing the mod section and you can see what I'm doing the blind tone challenge section as well so yeah it'll be up to you to leave some comments let me know what you thought about the two different pickups which one did you like

more and were you able to tell the difference between the two I'm really curious about these generation 4 pick ups I haven't actually played them I really haven't heard them I've heard a

few of the older ones in some videos but I haven't really heard these ones which is now a lie because I'm just realizing I've heard the elite guitars played a number of times but forget I said that

we're cutting that part out no we're not all right let's get into the video [Music]

[Music] [Music] all right this is it in this whole next section I'm gonna be talking about taking out the current pickups which are

the Fender Custom Shop twisted tele pickups and I'm replacing them with the generation 4 noiseless and so I'm just taking the strings off here and I realized earlier that I have to take everything out I have to take the

pickguard off have to take the bridge out and the control cavity here so we're gonna do that right now taking the pickguard off and super fast motion just opening it up here then realizing yeah I

got to take the cables out first so first thing you actually have to do is take your strings off and then open the the control cavity and get into that and

the nice thing with this upgrade or mod switch really it's not I wouldn't say it's an upgrade because pickups are personal taste I'm using an obsidian

wire wiring kit a 4-way wiring kit that's all solderless so you'll see how it's really quick to get into it so on the bridge you have to turn the saddle sideways to get access to the four

screws so I'm doing that here and then once you flip them sideways it's kind of hard to get them sideways a little bit but once you do that then you can get everything open alright so you can see here I'm trying to be careful putting a

cloth over the guitar I want to scratch it and then got the the Obsidian wire kit sitting there it's got all the connections currently to the twisted

tele pickups so it's a matter of getting a little tiny screwdriver like a flat flathead and you're basically pushing on these little plastic connectors and they

release the release the cable or the wiring and so I'm doing that here it's super fast like you can get them off within a couple minutes so they're going nice and clean didn't have to heat up a soldering gun or anything like that

nothing wrong with soldering if you like doing that I've done it in the past it's also fun to do this is just a lot quicker you do kind of pay a bit more for these obsidian wire kits but I

personally love them because they're super easy to do this exact thing so like I'm not making a mess with the soldering iron and again you know if you're good at doing

soldering that's fine but so taking out the first neck pick up the twisted tele pick up here it's just two screws and just loosening it up and then it just

pops off the back and so it's basically gonna be a swap an exact swap I'm taking the neck pick about popping in the other

neck pick up and it shouldn't be too bad like it's it's actually a pretty pretty straightforward job nothing really special to do there's a close-up of the twisted tele pick up just to give you an

idea of what it looks like close up got the three wires hanging out there and I'm keeping it in the I keep the packaging for everything that's just me but if I do want again some point use

them for another job or another guitar got them put away nicely and cleanly so anyways taking out the bridge at this point it's four screws and just be

careful not to always be careful when you're pulling out things like this you don't want to rip any solder points or any cables three screws are connecting the bridge to the the bridge plate and

it basically drops out and the new the new generation for noiseless set comes with all the hardware I'll show you exactly what it comes with when we when

we open it up and I have to say it's the nicest screws and I can't member with the rubber springs are called maybe they're just called rubber Springs they're really well made and you'll see

that in a second so again just cleaning up you can see the back of the plate on the twisted tele it's all brass or maybe it's gold you tell me they're really

expensive so opening it up here taking it out having a look the instruction so there's the bag that was talking about that has the hardware in it here's what

you get and here's the backside pretty cool-looking PCB board and the instructions are really good with the fender with the fender kits I find them like they're the best diagrams you can

have there's a close-up the back of the neck and we're gonna start with the neck so this one has three cables I'm just fishing them through the little slot here

and it's nice this player tell a player tele body is routed for humbuckers so here's the screws I'll show them close-up there's two different types of screws the one on the left is for the bridge the one on the

right is for the neck pickup and it's pretty easy to put them in here see the rubber spacers Springs I forget what they're called again but they work

really well he put in two screws and super easy to do like you there's nothing nothing to it it's really really nice I was really happy with the hardware I really liked those spacers

they work really well really easy to use so that's a matter of just getting I put the pickguard back in and moving on to the bridge so that's it for the neck pickup it's pretty much ready to go just

have to wire it into the kit but so you can see how the there's a close-up quick close up the rubber springs just like sit in these little holders which is

awesome it's super easy pop it in got three screws and this and the screws I didn't mention this the screws on each of the pickups there are for adjusting the height and so you can have the

height up or down depending it's a preference personal preference it's a taste thing it's kind of like once you get it set up you decide how high you want to have it and it can it can impact the sound a little bit and here we go

just routing it through fishing it through the hole again there's three wires on this one and just popping it in place and now just reading the screws to

get the bridge in place and at this point this is where I'm adding the wires to the Obsidian wire kit and you have to follow the Obsidian wire kit

instructions because they explain how to do a 4-way tele kit in this case so really useful and you can see that I mentioned the actual installation time here seven minutes really fast done there we go

I'm not going to go over what each one is because it's in the instructions you can't get it wrong it's super straightforward if you do have any questions though let me know if anything doesn't make sense to you at this point

it's pretty straightforward here I'm doing my tap test before I close everything up I always test the pickups to make sure the wiring is working all you got to do is grab some kind of amplifier or something plug in a guitar

cable turn the volume up turn your switch to the pickup you want to test and then you just do a little tap and hear the plastics is still covering the pickup so I'm not scratching it but then

you'll know if you have a good connection to each each pickup and each selector switch setting basically so here we go putting it back in this part you got to be careful you want to you

want to you know push the wires out of the way but you don't want them to pop out so got to be a little bit delicate took me a little bit of work to get it through there but it's okay now putting

back on all the screws and here we go they're plugged in they're ready to go I like the look of them they're pretty cool it's got like a shiny glossy face

and at that point you're pretty much done okay that's gonna do it for this video what did you think about the pickups what did you think about the twisted telly

what did you think about the noiseless generation for tele pickups leave me some feedback give me some comments let me know is there another type of pickups you'd like to hear in the future in a

comparison like this this is a lot of work swapping out pickups but hey you know what I don't mind it it's fun that doesn't seem very sincere let me know your own personal experience with these

generation for noiseless pickups or just noiseless pickups in general I wonder if anybody's done comparisons between all four or all five generations now and I

know strats have them as well I don't know how they compare but we'll leave that to another day no we won't just mumbling on I'm trying to run I'm trying

to make the run time go longer right gotta get at least 20 minute video I'm just kidding alright yeah that's gonna do it for this video again I'm Landon this is Nano 27

music if you haven't already please subscribe to my channel like the video give me some feedback if there's any videos you'd like to see any ideas you have give me some feedback below give me a comment I always try to answer
