he's always good I want to encourage you today with a psalm and I want us to focus

on Psalm 138 and I want to bring some things for your attention that are contained in this Psalm that I believe

will be a tremendous blessing to you I pray that today throughout your day you're able to

relish on the scripture Delight in the scripture just like we cannot live

without food and water we cannot live spiritually without the word and his presence

we cannot live without the spirit and the bread we cannot live without prayer and the word

amen once we cannot live just as we cannot live without eating and drinking we cannot live

without prayer in the word amen so I pray that you take this hide the word in your

heart I pray that the seed of God's word would become germinated on the inside of your spirit and that

because of that and through meditating upon that I pray that it would produce fruit I want to encourage you to look at the word

as not merely something you're reading I want you to look at the word and I want to challenge you to look at the word of God as food

and as seed I want you to look at God's word as food and Seed what do I mean by that

scripture tells us in Psalm I mean in the in in the um in the New Testament and also in the book of Deuteronomy for

man does not live off of bread alone but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God

just as bread provides nutrients sustenance and strength so does God's word when we have

the nutrients and the sustenance of God's word we will be able to walk in the spirit and walk strong

have you ever eaten have you ever lived for a few days without food have you ever fasted for long periods of time without eating

you will begin to notice that your body will feel weak weaker and weaker and weaker and weaker

and strength will begin to flee from you it's the same thing with God's word many walk around spiritually emaciated

spiritually weak because they have not been properly uh

received nutrients spiritual sustenance spiritual nutrition and they wonder why they cannot hear the word

of the Lord when we go about without food we lose our ability

to be productive and have strength in the same way in the spirit many want to hear a word from God

many want to hear God speaking but they don't go to the scriptures for in the scriptures speaks of the speakings of God

if you're in a season right now where it seems as though God is not speaking directly to your spirit you can still go to the scripture

for God always speaks out of the scripture for some want to hear a word that comes from God will go to the word of God that

comes from the scripture many go about without that manner many go about in their Journey without the meat of God's word there are two things that are like and

three things that are likened to bread in the Bible first is the word man does not live off of bread alone but

by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God there's this relationship between bread and word

the second thing that we see is that the bread this nutrition also comes from his presence

we see when Moses built the Tabernacle before the holies of holies there was this sacred consecrated bread that was in the Holy

place and it was reserved the leftovers were reserved for the priest that bread was called the penim the

bread of many faces or in other translations the bread of his presence so that we see that nutrition comes from

the word the scripture but it also comes from God's presence We There are on the other hand of the

spectrum there are some that consume the word but there is no spiritual nutrients that

makes the word come alive through prayer through presence and so the word must be consumed and the presence must be consumed as

bread the third thing that we see as bread in relation to spiritual things is in Jesus

Jesus said I am the bread of life the scriptures testify to me

he is the living bread he is the face of God he is the bread of his presence in which the priests

consume and who are the priests I say it many times here God has called us to be a holy nation

a royal Priestly Nation what is the role of a priest to stand in the presence of God to make intercession for the people of

God and to be in God's presence there are things that are reserved only for the priests

the bread of his presence is reserved only for the priests it was not for just the everyday common person

except for one occasion when King David ate of the bread that was consecrated that was not permissible for him to eat

but he ate it why because he was a man after God's Own Heart David represents the Messianic shadow of priest king

and so the priest the levitical priests and the Tabernacle received the bread the consecrated bread whatever is that was left over and it

was it was permissible for them to eat that in the same way we are priests of the Lord we stand in God's presence we minister

to him a minister is someone who serves the Lord a minister is someone who ministers to

his presence and so everything is found in his word and in his presence for the word speaks

of the presence and the presence speaks of his word the spirit and the word agree they cannot be separated

amen so today let's look at Psalm 138 and let's look at it let's relish the word together and let's see

that bread that came from heaven and so Lord I pray for a spirit of wisdom and Revelation to be unveiled to your people that you would give

spiritual nutrients to your people I pray this in Jesus Messiah amen okay

Psalms 138 this is a Psalm of David and first and foremost we need to understand something that a majority of the Psalms were written by David some of the Psalms were written by other

musicians other Levites the sons of Korah there's even Psalms written by Moses but for the most part the Psalms were

written by King David King David was a man after God's Own Heart A righteous King who lived and reigned for third he

he reigned as king over Israel for 33 years King David is a Messianic foreshadowing

of our Messiah Jesus and just as David ruled for 33 years Jesus appeared

on Earth was made flesh manifested in the flesh lived for 33 years the son of David now watch this

Psalm opens up with David committing himself to praise the Lord

he says I will praise you with my whole heart before the gods I

will sing praises to you let's look at this together he says I will that means that he made the conscious decision to

praise the Lord with his whole heart and that is what God is looking for he

is looking for a people to praise him not with some of their heart not with the the the dregs of their heart not

with the leftovers of their heart but with all their heart and he says I will many people wait

around to feel God to begin to praise God David was a man after God's Own Heart who chased God's presence

and he would often decide within himself I will praise the Lord what is your will today do you will to praise the Lord well I don't feel like praising the Lord

sometimes no one is talking about your feelings what are you going to do sometimes you're going to have to make yourself choose

for even David said in in the word in the Psalms it says he said bless the Lord O my soul there were times in David's own soul

that he did not desire to praise there were moments where he was discouraged there was moments where he felt like God wasn't hearing him

but he had to decide he had to will no I will bless the Lord O My Soul bless His holy name

what creates maturity and consistency in the abiding life of God's presence is not the fleeting feelings that come and

go but your choosing of him daily I will praise you

his absolute resolution was to sing praises to Him some of you need to repent of magnifying the other gods

some of you need to repent of the other gods the other Idols that are surrounding your life right now and you're wondering why you're always

in a spiritual tug of war not realizing the war has already been over Jesus has already defeated the principalities powers in dominions Jesus has already

made a public spectacle of them in the cross he's disarmed the devil he has no arms the only thing he can do is speak

praises to you you see David was not motivated by his feelings David was motivated by the goodness of God and he

you see there's so much beautiful Revelation in that first verse I mean you can meditate on verse one all day long I mean you can sit there you can

he says verse two he says I will worship toward your Holy Temple and praise your name how many times

is David's decision mentioned in the first two verses I will praise you with my whole heart

before the gods I will sing praises to you I will worship toward your Holy Temple you see David understood something

he understood that there is a first draw scripture tells us in the Book of James draw near to God and He will draw near

to you your will to draw near to him is your choice God will do the rest but you must choose him every day

I will worship toward your Holy Temple and praise your name for your loving kindness and your Truth

for you have magnified your word above all your name now let's stop here and let's let's let's break this down a little further

he says again he Wills I will worship toward your Holy Temple so he starts with praise

singing praise and worship there is a difference between praise and worship praise is the proclamation of his

goodness worship is the the handing of yourself worship is the submission and

the surrender worship comes from the old English word worthy ship it is it is to see the worthiness of God

God is so worthy he is worthy of your life he is worthy of your attention he is worthy of every decision that you make he is worthy in order to see his

worthiness though You Must Praise Him First for scripture says enter into his gates with Thanksgiving and into his courts with praise

but then there's a deeper way there is praise and then there is deep worship and what is worship it is the

surrendering of your entire being worship is a is like a sacrifice to the Lord

it is a laying of your life on his feet it is worship it is you're so worthy I lay myself before you

I will praise you with my whole heart before the gods I will sing praises to you I will worship you see

the higher the praise the deeper the worship you want to go real Deep In Worship you want to know the depths of his

worthiness you want to go deep deep deep into true worship go high high high into praise

and the higher you praise him the deeper you will experience his holy presence he says I will worship toward your Holy

Temple and again praise your name now what do we notice here well during

the time of David there was a temple a holy Temple right a temple that was made that was made of stone

a temple that was made a physical location but there is a spiritual principle to keep in mind

for the things of the old Covenant are concealed in the newer revealed in the new and where is this Holy Temple now

we understand that according to First Peter we are a holy nation we are living stones built up together to make a

spiritual house we are the temple presence of the Lord we are let me say it this way let me rephrase this we are the temple of God that house the

presence of the Lord right and he will he says I will worship toward your Holy Temple right now why is this important to understand

we must understand that his presence is on the inside of us his presence yes he's got above he's omnipresent but he is also imminent which means he is actively at work

within our lives the kingdom of God is within us Christ the hope of glory Messiah the hope of glory is tabernacled within

our bodies we are the the Temple of the Holy Spirit the ruach hakadesh the Holy Spirit the

holy wind of God and the reality is every time you close your eyes you are worshiping toward the Holy Temple

every time you are focusing on God's presence to worship him where is his presence it's on the inside of you

you see so many times God's we we as God peoples we we say God come down the reality is this God wants to come up

on the inside of you worship toward his holy Temple

we close our eyes and we sit there with the Lord where is the Lord he's on the inside of your being

beautiful and look your temple is Holy your body is

holy your being your vessel is Holy and praise your name

see praise who his name for in his name is the revelation of who he is

for your loving kindness and your truth see here's something really beautiful verse 1 opens up with I will praise you with my whole heart before the gods I

will sing praises to you verse 2 says I will worship toward your Holy Temple and praise your name you see look at what we see here there

is praise a praise of your whole heart there is a singing before the gods right there is a

worshiping toward his holy Temple and then there is this Praise of his name there is a revelation of who he is in

the atmosphere of praise and worship you see he says I will worship toward your Holy Temple and praise your name for your loving kindness and your truth

you see when you want to know what God's like you want to taste and see what he is like you want to see you will see that when you live a life of Praise when

you live a life of worship you will begin to see his name you will begin to see his character that he's loving

kindness that he's full of Truth you will see that he is good you want to know what God is like Praise

Him you want to know what he's like as a as as a as as a spirit to spill spirit Fellowship learn to praise the Lord watch what happens you will begin to

taste of his truth and goodness you'll begin to see how amazing he truly is for your loving kindness verse two and your truth

for you have magnified your word above your name now what is that you have magnified your word above your

name you see here's something interesting scripture tells us in the book of Philippians the second chapter for God has given him the name that is above

every name that at the name of Jesus Yeshua Jesus every knee must bow every tongue must confess that Jesus is Lord

you see his word you know you have magnified your word above your name in the beginning was the word the word was

with God the Word was God it is speaking of Messiah you have magnified your word above your

name the father lifted the word of God made flesh and made him high and holy and lifted up in the day when I cried you answered me

and made me bold with strength in my soul this is a very beautiful reality right here what do we see we see that in the day when I cried out

you answered me now this is so beautiful because if you read scripture if you're a student of the word if you

are a student of scripture you will see often times that when the phrase in the day is mentioned

it doesn't always literally mean a literal 24-hour window but it means a moment of time for

example let me give you some biblical passages to kind of back up what I'm saying for example

when it says in Genesis chapter 3.

when I believe it's in Genesis chapter 2 or 3 where it says that in the day that you shall eat of it you shall surely die when Adam and Eve Aid of the forbidden

fruit God said that in the day that you shall eat of it you shall surely die

now we know that when Adam and Eve partook of the forbidden fruit they didn't die immediately

the Hebrew is actually translated as in dying you shall surely die in the day that you shall eat of it you shall die

in the day is is is is is a is another expression of saying a moment of time a Divine time frame

we know that Adam lived nearly almost a thousand years 900 in some odd years and then he died

the Bible speaks of the day of the Lord and theologians speculate that the day of the Lord is approximately the three and a half years um leading up to the second coming of

Messiah you see now why is this important in Genesis chapter 2 it says in the day when the Lord made the heavens and the Earth and then he begins to talk about

creation why is this important to understand because he says in the day when I cried out you answered me now why is this

encouraging because sometimes he doesn't always respond within a 24-hour period there is a day that is preserved and

reserved in a Divine timetable for you that he begins to answer you do not be discouraged when he does not answer you right away for in the day he will

respond to the Lord a day is a thousand years a thousand years is two a day to the Lord God has a timetable that is so different

from us and so many times we want God to speak to us right then and there right now right here this moment this second and God Wills for a day to come in which

he will speak in the proper Divine time frame in the day when I cried out you answered me and made me bold with strength in my

soul this is encouraging because David cried out David prayed out there were moments where there was silence there was

moments actually in the Book of Psalms there are moments where he's complaining and he's like when will you answer me O Lord in the day

sometimes God doesn't respond to you right away it's because he's working something behind the scenes and he is working a fruit of godliness and and he

is trying to marinate and saturate you to receive that at the right time you see in the waiting there is a

fruitfulness that is produced in the waiting there is a knitting of two hearts together between your heart and his heart in the waiting in the day of which

you're waiting for sometimes God is trying to cultivate his holy character in you for scripture tells us in the Book of James let patience have

its perfect work so that you'll be complete mature lacking in nothing come on I'm preaching to someone here this is blessing someone because the

spirit of the Lord is encouraging someone right now why is it necessary that I wait there is a work that he is doing in the waiting

in the day when I cried out you answered me and made me bold with strength in my soul boldness comes at the response of

God's word you answered me he spoke and made me bold with strength in my soul

you want to receive boldness some of you struggle in the area of boldness boldness does not come from you

boldness comes from the word of the Lord boldness comes from God himself you know who struggled with boldness

excuse me the disciples in the book of Acts in the book of Acts we see that the religious were breathing threats down the disciples neck

and they begin to magnify the Lord and the Bible says grant us boldness that we may preach your word

and God responds with a holy shaking and they were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to preach the word of God with boldness notice the boldness and the

word of God in the book of Acts come together boldness comes from his word boldness comes from God's presence and Power

his response and where does the boldness come the strength is given where

in your mind your will your emotions when you are renewed in the spirit of your mind your soul is being renewed your mind your will your emotions your thoughts

are being renewed with strength is this blessing someone is someone out there is this blessing you I pray it is

in the day when I cried out you answered me and made me bold with strength in my soul beautiful some of your timid and shy that's okay

get in God's presence let him answer you through the word and boldness will rise within you amen

verse 4.

all the kings of the Earth shall Praise You O Lord when they hear the words of your mouth

yes they shall sing of the ways of the Lord for great is the glory

of the Lord so beautiful all the kings of the Earth shall Praise You O Lord when they hear the words of your mouth says in this beautiful there is coming a

day in the Messianic age the age to come the age of the anointed

Son of God where he will land his blessed Eternal feat his pierced feet on the ground of Jerusalem

where the Lord himself will descend and all the kings of the Earth shall Praise Him when they hear the words of his mouth

speaks of a day yes they shall sing of the ways of the Lord for great is the glory of the the Lord now here's something so beautiful

the ways of the Lord are only given to nose to those who know the Lord for the scripture tells us that Moses knew the ways of God Israel knew God's power but

Moses knew God's ways how can the kings of the earth know his ways well scripture tells us

our identity we are a royal priesthood we are a holy nation a nation of Kings

and Priests unto our God for the Lord will reveal himself as king of kings

and our identity is a Priestly kingship we will cast our crowns before the Lord

the elders and angels will bow those who will Who will be in heaven there's this beautiful scene in The Book

of Revelation where the where the scripture says that God uh is in his throne and the elders and and the Saints they're they're

casting their crowns before the Lord he's they're worshiping him we are a holy priesthood we are a kingly

people the kings of the earth that shall Praise Him is you and I praise God sorry I had to mute myself

for just a quick minute here all the kings of the Earth shall Praise You O Lord when they hear the words of your mouth Yes they shall sing what of

the ways of the Lord for great is the glory of the Lord now notice the capital l-o-r-d l-o-r-d-l-o-r-d verse six though the

Lord is on high see though this is the name of the Lord this is the personal identity of the god of Israel it is the

Divine name they will praise his personal Divine name when they hear the words of your mouth they shall sing the ways of this personal Lord

for great is the glory of the Lord I love the word Glory because it is the Hebrew word kavod in the word kavod or kavad it means the

heavy weight of his royalty his majesty the glory of the Lord is his brilliance

it is his manifested power in presence they shall sing of the ways of the Lord for great is the glory of the Lord now I

love this because verses one through five it begins with praise and worship and then a revelation of the glory the higher the praise the deeper the

worship the deeper the worship the greater the revelation of glory and when the revelation of his glory is there you just sit and yoke with him

that's awesome though the Lord is on high yet he regards the lowly now right here

there is this beautiful statement concerning the character of the Lord though the Lord is on high yet he

regards he takes thought of the lowly but the proud he knows from afar now what do we see here we see that the

Lord is high he is Holy he is so full of Glory he is above the heavens of Heavens he's above

every Throne every Dominion every principality he is the most high he is El Elon God most high he is the loftiest

he is the highest he is the most loftiest he is so high that it is inconceivable

yet he regards the lowly yet he thinks of the lowly it reminds me of Psalm 57 I'm

sorry Isaiah 57 verse 14.

where it says for thus says the Lord I am high and lifted up he's he is high I live in a high and holy place

then he says with him who has a contrite and humble Spirit to revive the spirit of the lowly the high and lifted up place is where

the Lord is but he also considers the lowly the high place is his high and holy place but from his perspective the high

and holy place is with the whole with the lowly why because God is the absolute expression of divine humility God

resists the proud but gives grace to the humble why does he resist the proud because if there is any being on on this

creation that deserves to be proud it is God and God himself is not proud but is absolute humility God resists the proud

he regards the lowly why because they speak the same language God regards the whole the lowly he

regards those who are low in spirit low in heart because he himself is lowly what do I mean Jesus said Matthew 11 28

I believe he says come to me all who are who are heavy laden I am and he says he says learn of me I

am meek and lowly of heart the only the the few times where Jesus describes himself regarding himself I am meek I am lowly I

think of the prophecy in the old Covenant where it says behold your king comes meekly he comes in a writing on a

donkey meek see he just doesn't have humility he is humility what is man that you are mindful of him

what is the son of man you've made him a little lower than the angels you see God is deeply invested and interested in

the lowly nothing attracts God's presence more like humility the man Moses the man that was that that attracted the glory of God he was a

humble man scripture says he was the most humble man that ever lived on the earth at that time who was more humble than Moses and the old Covenant and who is more humble than

Jesus God manifested In the Flesh who was born in a dirty stinky Manger

in the House of Bread the town of Bethlehem you see now

the Lord is on high he regards the lowly but the proud he knows from afar that expression is very interesting

because it means that he knows them from afar he's not close to them why because they are proud

the greatest repellent of God's presence is pride Pride is the sin in the seed of the Devil

Himself as in the words of a famous man of God

you cannot fight Satan with Satan you cannot resist the enemy if you're in Pride

the proud he knows from afar He makes himself

in opposition the Lord opposes the proud but gives Grace Joy empowerment

to the humble why because that is the language that he speaks

you must learn the Bible says the fear of the Lord is to hate Pride Pride he knows the proud from afar then he says

though I walk in the midst of trouble you will revive me this is so beautiful because the first six verses is a constant Declaration of praise and

worship to the Lord and then he lists then he speaks of the trouble

that shows us how to approach him listen if you spend 15 minutes with the Lord spend 12 minutes praising him

and then bring up the troubles you see he says though I walk in the midst of trouble you will revive me

you see David's perspective was revived in God's presence he doesn't open up with his troubles

he opens up praising the Lord praise shifts your perspective praise takes you to the high place

and then he was confident to say though I walk in the midst of trouble you will revive me he was assured

that he was going to be revived why the Assurance came from the presence of God's glory the assurance

came because he praised the Lord Praise provokes presence

provides perspective look at all those peas praise provides perspective praise provokes presence presence

provides perspective somebody's got to write that down praise provokes presence

presence provides perspective he knew he wasn't doubting doubt didn't come why because he was in God's presence some of you feel like man I don't know

where to go I don't know where to turn I don't know what to do spend time praising I don't know what to say I don't know what spend time praising my perspective

is all messed up praise the Lord hush and praise be still and know

spend time everything is in the lingering great is the glory of the Lord though the Lord is on high he regards the lowly

but the proud he knows from afar though I walk in the midst of trouble you will revive me Faith Comes

this is a declaration of Faith you will revive me you will stretch out your hand against the wrath of my enemies your right hand will save me now isn't this

interesting that on the seventh verse it it it's you will revive me you will stretch out your hand your right hand will save me and then in the beginning

he says I will praise you I will worship I will sing praises you see when you go to him he will come to you

when you come to praise he will respond to you when you will to come to him he will come to you

that's right phrase provokes presence presence provides perspective praise God

and how much does he provide his troubles here not much he says though I walk in the midst of trouble you will revive me you will stretch out your hand

against the wrath of my enemies and your right hand will save me I love it who is at the right hand of the father Jesus

and I love it he says your right hand will save me your right hand is my salvation salvation the Hebrew word salvation is

yehoshua or Yeshua it's it's Christ Messiah Jesus and I love this verse the Lord will perfect

the word perfect means to cause to mature that which concerns me the Lord will perfect

that which concerns me Jonas Aleman bless you I've been thinking about you for quite some time

though I look what he says the Lord will perfect that which concerns me there is a perfecting there is a maturing there is if you will

a what's the best way I could say this a fermentation there is a fermentation God will make you a strong drink

he will perfect that which concerns me the things that you're concerned he will perfect he will mature he will cause a

in the middle of your concerns there will be a a Perfection a working of his

maturity in you the Lord will do this he himself that which concerns me that's so powerful because the the things that

you're concerned about sister brother guess what he is concerned about he is deeply concerned

about your concerns as well

your mercy O Lord endures forever do not forsake the works of your hands your mercy O Lord endures forever it's

it's who he is he is merciful tender compassionate it endures forever his Mercy endures

forever and then he mentions the last thing here he says do not forsake the work of your hands why is that important

how much time did David spend in this Psalm working on what God can do for him his hands

not much time how much time did David was concerned how much time was he concerned for praising him

most of this psalm 90 percent of the psalm was spent praising him worshiping him being confident in his presence

and then he says don't forsake the work of your hands we do this in the opposite way don't we sometimes we are too caught up in God's hands God

touched me God do this God do that and we wonder why his presence seems to be afar off we need to contemplate some a hundred

and thirty eight we need to take some lessons from Psalm 138 we need to take some lessons from David the king the man

after God's Own Heart how many times do we spend talking about our problems to God talking about our concerns to God nothing wrong with that

want to be clear but there is a time for it how much time do we spend God touch me I want you to touch me I want to have an experience

for the sake of the experience and we walk away untouched you know why because we are looking at his hands

we should be invested in praising his holy face remember what I said earlier today the bread of his presence the bread of his

face your nurture your your nourishment comes from his face not from what he does for you you are meant

to live and germinate in the Sun you are meant to live into habitate in

his holy presence you are meant to be in the presence of the Lord amen

let Psalm 138 be the meditation of your heart this morning let Psalm 138 minister to your heart

let Psalm 38 be the reflection of your heart this morning maybe you're here today and you're struggling in your prayer life you're struggling in your walk with

God I want to encourage you the Lord will perfect that which concerns you he is calling you

to his very near presence don't look too much at your problems don't dwell on your past mistakes

don't dwell on your inadequacy before God choose this day whom you will serve before the Gods

like Psalm 138 says you've got to decide to worship Him and praise him he wants to provide nourishment

sustenance spiritual nutrition I pray that the spirit of the Lord ministers to you as you minister to him
