how to be creative (without being creative)

Summary
## Key takeaways - **Adopt a Different Angle**: Having a different angle on things is the most important step, whether in music, painting or writing books, because everyone is looking for something new they've never seen before, not thousands of replicas copying what works for others. [00:16], [00:26] - **Cultivate Delusional Self-Belief**: You have to have at least a bit of delusional self-belief to believe in your vision before anyone else sees it, as most musicians, painters, and filmmakers you look up to had it, and people will call you crazy until it works. [01:33], [02:05] - **Never Lose Curiosity**: Never lose your curiosity because complacency kicks in when distractions get louder than it, and curiosity is one of the main ingredients in creative work, making you open to new experiences even if you think you know everything. [02:46], [03:02] - **Just Create Imperfectly**: Just create without any idea of what you're doing and share it even if it's not the best, because your brain is chaotic with ideas and chasing perfection forgets that every creative thing should be a bit incomplete or with flaws—that's what we call art. [03:56], [04:26] - **Develop Ruthless Work Ethic**: Everyone who made it in the creative space has a ruthless work ethic or is obsessed with their creation, like Jean-Michel Basquiat who spent countless hours in his studio and at 22 became one of the youngest to exhibit at the Whitney Biennial. This is the only video you need to become more creative. Because what's the secret? How the most creative people
secret? How the most creative people influence the things we do and change how we see creativity as a whole. You
might think they're talented, really smart, or just different. But the truth is it's way simpler than you think. We
will go over five easy to apply steps that will change everything. Let me
explain. We are starting with the most important step and that is to be different. Having different angle
different. Having different angle [music] on things. It doesn't matter if you do music, painting or writing books.
Everyone is looking for something new, something they have never seen before.
We see a thousands of replicas a day.
People trying to copy what is already working and thinking it will work for them too. But that can't be more wrong.
them too. But that can't be more wrong.
All of the people we see right now started something huge that changed everything. At the start they were
everything. At the start they were different. Maybe even the people around
different. Maybe even the people around them thought the idea they had sucked.
>> Like I'm going to use everything that everybody says that I can't do or I'mma flip it to the positive. Like I look at everything as a glass half full and half empty.
>> This is exactly what I mean. If you're
starting something new and very different, some people won't understand [music] it, and that's okay if you see the vision and what your art can do for the world, do it. Having fresh and creative angles on different things can
change a lot in your life, not just your creative work. At the end of the day,
creative work. At the end of the day, most of the things we do might not be a fresh new idea. It might be something we added or put our perspective in it. But
the whole idea is to try to do different things in every space you are, whether that is business, social media or art.
because you already know what work for other people. So try to come up with
other people. So try to come up with something that will work for you. But
without the next tip I'm going to show you, this one will be useless. For you
to believe in your vision in art, you have to have at least a bit of delusional self-belief. Most musicians
delusional self-belief. Most musicians that you look up to had it. Most
painters had it and well-known filmmakers had it. You can't always be sure that the people around you will cheer you up and understand what you're trying to do. They will call you crazy until it works. You have to believe in yourself and the things you're creating
before anyone can see it. You're the
only person who will help you out. My
father asked me that question back when I was 15. I was a I was a photographer back in Atlanta and I'll say that, you know, I was pretty good. I wasn't one of the best, but son, what what do you think you stand? And I looked at him, I
said, I am the best.
>> Even if you're just starting out with something, you have to believe in yourself that you can do it. That will
help you reach the next level. Even if
you don't have what is needed at the moment. And at the same time, you have
moment. And at the same time, you have to take criticism and learn from other people. Because a lot of people think
people. Because a lot of people think that ego and delusional self-belief are pretty similar. But in my opinion, the
pretty similar. But in my opinion, the difference is huge. Self-belief will
help you in your journey. It will get you to the point where you want to be and at the same time protect you from other people's opinions. Ultimately, in
order to become more creative, self-belief will help you change your mindset, get better ideas, and build that confidence in yourself, especially as a beginner. However, having
delusional self-belief won't work without having the right ideas and expanding your expertise. That's where
the next tip comes in place. You never
lose your curiosity. I don't care who you are, you never lose your curiosity.
Complacency kicks in when your distractions get louder than your curiosity. Like you heard it from Far
curiosity. Like you heard it from Far Williams, curiosity is one of the main ingredients in creative work. If you
don't have a reason to do something that is not sparking your curiosity, why even bother? A lot of people reach a point in
bother? A lot of people reach a point in their creative journey where they feel like they know everything and don't try to go further, which in my opinion is a really bad spot to be in. I feel like even if you have the best skill set and experience, you can always push a bit
further and there will always be room for new things to learn. The best thing about creative curiosity is that you can include it in everything in your life.
The only thing you need is to be open to new experiences and that alone will make you a more creative individual. I think
if you're just starting, this advice alone can make it way easier for you because at the start of your creative journey, you're the most curious. You
want to learn new things. You simply
want to know more. In the end, being more curious will change how you look at your life and your creative work. Also,
it will make your life way more fulfilling because you just don't stop looking for the next thing. That spark
you get from curiosity is an amazing feeling that you feel you have to chase no matter what. Even if you think you already know everything. The next step we are going to talk about is just as important as this one. Just create. I
know sometimes we get stuck with tons of ideas, plans and goals. But what if we just create it without any idea of what we are doing? For you that might be music, videos, art. Just share it to the world even if it's not the best. For
some people it might be the best and you never know who is going to see it and give you an opportunity. This is my first video on this channel. I don't
feel like the editing or the script is the best, but I'm sharing it in hopes of helping somebody. As a creative person,
helping somebody. As a creative person, your brain is chaotic most of the time.
You got so many ideas that it's hard to keep track of, but make sure to sit and create, not just think about it. I feel
like we always chase perfection and sometimes forget that every creative thing should be a bit incomplete or with flaws. That's what we call art. Sitting
flaws. That's what we call art. Sitting
down and creating will help you way more than a book or a YouTube tutorial and will give you more experience in the long run. The only advice I I would have
long run. The only advice I I would have would be to not listen to anyone and to do what you love and to make things that you love. Whatever it is, make make your
you love. Whatever it is, make make your favorite things. Of course, you don't
favorite things. Of course, you don't have to learn everything by yourself, but once you have the foundation, the process of creating depends on you and how much you want to create. Getting
real experience in your field will always be better than learning a ton of things and never using them. The next
step we are going to talk about is probably the one that will decide whether you will make it or not. There's
one thing in common with everyone who made it in the creative space. They all
have a ruthless work ethic or in most cases they're obsessed by the idea of their creation. We can talk all day
their creation. We can talk all day about how important is to believe in yourself and to look for different angles. But if you don't work towards
angles. But if you don't work towards these ideas, you're not making a change.
Most famous writers, musicians, and painters all have well-known schedule or work ethic. One of my favorite examples
work ethic. One of my favorite examples of this is Jean Michelle Basat. He was
known for his unique style combining street art and graffiti. He was really dedicated to his craft. Some sources say that he spent countless hours in his studio working late into the night or early morning. His work ethic was out of
early morning. His work ethic was out of this world. At only 22, he became one of
this world. At only 22, he became one of the youngest to exhibit at the Whitney banial in New York. This is the definition of becoming obsessed. There
are a lot of great artists that never reach their peak because they didn't have a good work ethic. If you're always waiting for inspiration, you might never get to your full potential. Another
thing about work ethic is that you need to find what works the best for you. Are
you more of a working alone type person or working with other people? creating
during the day or the night. You need to find when and where you perform the best and that completely depends on your creative lifestyle. Let's recap
creative lifestyle. Let's recap everything we talked about. Have
different angles on things. You have to have at least a bit of delusional self-belief. Almost everyone you look up
self-belief. Almost everyone you look up to had delusional self-belief. You have
to expand your expertise. We also have to just create. Doesn't matter if it is music, videos or art. Just create. Also,
you have to have a strong work ethic.
This is how most of the biggest creative people became who they are now. That's
about it. Thank for watching.
