- Wow, that is going on so smooth.
- Yeah, I love this.
- Oh, I love it!
(upbeat music) - Hi everybody!
Welcome back to Macy's YouTube channel.
I'm Elise Saetta, the Beauty Director, and I'm here with Kelly Augustine.
- Hi!
- And today we're gonna talk about what you do right before you go on a job interview.
- Dreaded job interview.
- It's always a kind of high-pressure sitch, so we're gonna talk about keeping it zen, and then what you should do in terms of, like, your beauty look and key products, too.
Let's talk about the night before.
- The butterflies, they're fluttering around, and you just really have to keep reminding yourself, I'm good. I've got this. I'm relaxed.
I'm good. I've got this. I'm relaxed.
- They called you for a reason.
- They called you for a reason!
- I mean, come on.
I know when I'm a little stressed, and I just need to, like, collect myself, I like to take a nice bath, hang out, and then I love doing a mask.
This is Tony Moly's Luminating I'm Pearl mask.
They have the cutest stuff.
They have an entire line of all different masks, for all different targets.
They're a green brand, which is great.
They all have like, I'm Pearl, I'm Green Tea, I'm all these things.
- Can I try it?
- Yeah.
Yes you can!
That's what it's here for, girl.
- I'm so excited.
- Yay!
All right.
Go at it.
- All right.
Am I doin' this the right way?
- Yeah, you got it.
- I feel so crazy right now.
(laughter) - [Elise] So when you're sitting in the bath, just trying to collect your zen, it doesn't matter how funny you look in a mask.
But just know that your skin is gonna look glowing!
- Well, I mean look at me!
(laughter) - It's very cooling, and I feel like within a matter of minutes, I'm going to look really, really nice.
I've been dealing with acne a lot lately, and I think the idea of having something cooling will probably help with the inflammation.
- For sure.
When I'm masking, I like to leave it on for at least 20 minutes.
I put a timer on my phone.
- Yeah, I feel like you could actually do this and like prep and go over questions for your interview.
- Yeah!
- Yeah, good job.
Are we ready?
Am I cooked?
- I think so.
- Okay.
Oh, this smells so nice.
And ...
- [Elise] Look how illuminated you are.
So there you go.
You're all brightened.
Your skin is super dewy and glowy.
So another thing that I like to do, too, is right after I take the mask off, I like to just, like, push.
- Okay.
- Yeah.
Why not?
Don't let any of it go to waste.
(laughter) - We're all zenned out.
We've done our nightly skincare routine.
It's the next morning.
You've called out of work from your other job to go on this interview.
(laughter) - Which is already nerve wracking enough!
And we're ready to put on our face.
I always love to start with a primer.
- Yes, always.
- And this one in particular, since you have dry skin, is amazing.
So this is Smashbox Photo Finish Primerizer.
It's a primer and moisturizer in one.
- How do you usually apply it?
- So I've seen people apply it with a brush, but since this is like a two-in-one moisturizer, I'm - I would just put it on with my hands.
- Okay.
Do you pat or do you wipe?
- I tend to, like, wipe it on.
- Okay.
- [Elise] But I know that you can also pat too.
In terms of your skincare and stuff, though, I always pat that on, because I feel like I'm trying to push in, like as...
- You want as much of it to get into your skin as possible.
- Exactly.
For those of you that don't know what a primer does, it really does prep your face.
Some formulas will actually, like, blur your complexion a little bit to give you that nice, smooth canvas to apply your makeup.
Now we go into foundation.
- The good stuff.
Two of my new favorite foundations are from Estee Lauder and Bobbi Brown.
So these are the two that I've really been going to because I have so many dark spots.
- Well you chose two classics.
So the first one is Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-In-Place Makeup.
Super, super iconic.
Go to for everybody.
And then Bobbi Brown Skin Long-Wear Weightless Foundation.
And this also has SPF in it, too, so again, talking about that whole double-duty formulas and stuff like that.
So really, really cool.
Yay!
- So I usually do a few, like a couple pumps on my hand, just so it warms up.
And then I use my stippling foundation brush.
- This is from Smashbox, by the way.
- It's really pretty.
It has grooves in it.
- Yeah, I like it.
It's like ergonomic.
Wow, that is going on so smooth.
- Yeah.
I love this.
- Ohh, I love it.
Shade-matching is so, so important.
You really should take the time to go into the store and consult one of our beauty advisors so that they can properly match you to a foundation.
You know, a lot of brands do dramming so you can actually take some home and try it out, and give it a whirl.
Oh my God!
You look, like, absolutely flawless!
- Ha ha, I mean!
- [Elise] I mean, I love it!
Now your confidence is like...
You're starting to be like, okay, well, they're going to give me this job obviously.
- If they don't give me this job, your loss.
- [Elise] Love it!
- I think we're okay now.
- No, I mean, you look completely evened out.
It's amazing.
- Thanks.
- [Elise] What a boss complexion.
- I mean...
Excellent.
- I love using a concealer to really brighten up under your eye.
Even if you don't really have dark circles, it's just a great way to kind of like, add a little bit of youthful plumping to your complexion.
- It gives you a nice pop, and it really makes you look, like awake.
- Yeah.
Kelly's using NARS.
Love NARS!
And this is their Radiant Creamy Concealer.
I mean, I love the texture of this one.
- I do, too.
- It's actually really, really creamy.
- It's brilliant.
- This is our Beauty Blender.
- I really like to use a Beauty Blender because you can wet it, and it presses it into the skin, especially when it is wet.
Just kind of like sets it in really nice.
- Totally.
If you put your Beauty Blender under the faucet and wring it out, as long as it's damp, it actually helps apply the product a lot more even.
And it does, like, get into all your pores a little bit better.
Next, usually what I go to is highlighting, contouring if you're into that, and blush.
We have highlighter.
You're using Smashbox, and this is their Spotlight Palette in Gold, and it's an illuminating highlighter.
So I always put my highlighter on, like, my cheekbones, on my brow-bone, in your corner.
People do down the bridge of their nose.
- Yeah, that's what I was gonna say.
- Do it.
I mean, my nose is a little crooked so I don't like to really highlight it, but you have a beautiful nose, so you should definitely!
(laughter) - When I'm applying highlighter, I just like to do it very lightly because I don't want to look like an Emmy.
You know?
So I just like to tap it onto my skin.
You're kinda going for like a sun-kissed kind of a glow.
You don't really want it to be, like, gilded.
- [Elise] Mimic how you would naturally glow after just washing your face or something like that.
- Exactly.
- We have two blushes today.
One is more a warmer tone, and one is more of a cooler tone.
These are the Bare Minerals, another green brand, by the way.
This is Peachy Keen and then this is On the Mauve.
On the Mauve!
- On the Mauve is my actual, like, go-to.
But now I'm wondering would I want it to be a little bit brighter?
- This one actually really looked pretty on you.
- I'm gonna try Peachy Keen, and see how I feel about it.
- Do it!
- We're tapping lightly.
- Nice. You can get away with a little bit extra color, you know what I mean?
Like a little brighter pops is kinda fun.
- Oh, I like this.
- Oh, that looks really pretty.
- Yeah.
I like that.
- Well your complexion is absolutely glowing right now.
- Really?
- [Elise] Yep.
I love it.
- Thank you so much.
- Usually the next step for me is I start to go into my whole eye look.
Urban Decay's Naked Palette came out about 10 years ago, and what they've done is they've kind of like reevaluated what the Naked Palette means to the girl today.
And I think some of the shades maybe are from the original palette, but most of the colors have been reworked.
Rule of thumb when you're going on a job interview, I think keeping it, like, neutral, but pretty and sophisticated is definitely the way to go.
- Yeah.
And I like to go with more of the flat colors for interviews.
- Why don't you tell me what you would choose?
- I'm gonna do Boundaries for the base.
- [Elise] It's super important to do kind of a base color when you're doing a more neutral look because you want to make sure that your eyelids are, like, evened out.
You might not actually see the color of the base after you apply the rest of your look, but it is nice to start with kind of a clean canvas so you kinda see where you're going.
And since you've concealed and used foundation on your eyelid, too, it is great to use some sort of powder to set it in so that you don't get that super-annoying crease.
- Yeah.
Oh my gosh, that crease of death.
- I hate the crease!
- Now I'm gonna go on with Reputation, and it is a shimmer.
But we're gonna do it.
Why not?
- [Elise] It's a sophisticated shimmer.
- Sophista-shimmer.
It isn't look like...
- It's just kinda iridescent.
I think that's, like, the key thing to keep in mind, is like iridescence is fine.
That's kind of like a sophisticated shimmer.
You don't necessarily want glitter.
No matter how amazing the formula is, there's always a little bit of fall-out with glitter, so the last thing you want is glitter on your face when you're trying to get a job.
- I'm gonna go on with Burn, which is that darker brown.
Just for the arch.
Everything that I do, I like to stamp it in.
Kind of just like pat it in.
Once I've started swiping, things go left, like, very quickly.
- [Elise] I also think, too, if you're really trying to get pigment on your eye, stamping is a little bit better than swiping.
You actually got amazing pigment out of this without even wetting the brush.
- Without even trying.
- [Elise] I mean, seriously.
Next is the brow.
We gotta master the brow and the lashes.
- We have to have a strong brow.
- You have to have a power brow.
- You do.
I like to brush my brows and then put gel on them just to keep them in place before I even try to fill them in.
It's really important to brush your brows because it fills in spots that you may have thought that you needed to fill in with a pencil.
- It's all about kind of taming your brow, no matter what kind of a brow that you have.
If you have a little hair or a lot of hair in your brow, when you brush it up, it really kind of gives you a nice stencil.
I love, like, right in here, like when you brush your brow up.
I just feel like it lifts your whole look up.
So gorgeous!
- There we go.
We're starting with Gimme Brow from Benefit.
- [Elise] It comes in a whole range of shades, so yes, it's like a brow gel, but it's also a tint and you can pick whatever shade works best for you.
I love the little tiny brush, because I feel like you get a ton of control.
And we're gonna have to do like a side-by-side here.
I mean you can already tell the difference.
You really could stop here.
When you're going for an interview, I feel it's really important to look put together, but not super overdone is also just as important.
- Slight filter.
- And maybe like no face-tune.
- No face-tune.
- No, you don't need it for this.
So your brows are poppin'.
On to the lash.
- On to the lash.
I feel like I have stubby lashes, and so I always go for mascaras like this one.
This Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara is honestly the, I mean...
- It's amazing.
- It's gotten to the point where, like, I was using these so much that I was buying them, like, two at a time, just 'cause I was running through the tubes.
- Oh, that's amazing.
- Yeah.
So I like to wiggle when I do my mascara.
I like, wiggle from my lash line up.
- [Elise] For sure.
What Kelly's describing is absolutely perfect.
You want to start at the lash line.
You kind of want to, like, dig it into your lash line with the wiggle, and then you just, like, pull it out.
- Especially when you have shorter lashes like I do.
Oh.
Guys.
- [Elise] I know.
- Do we even need to say anything?
Look at the difference.
When you look your best, you feel your best, and you can kind of go in there and smash it.
So right now, if I were in my house, I'd be like, blasting Beyonce or Rihanna.
I'm ready to go and just, like, kill the interview.
- You know, for me, that's always been really important.
To make sure that I look my best, so that I feel my best, and then I do my best.
- Wow.
Someone put that on the wall.
Frame that.
I love that.
I mean, mmmm.
- [Elise] Amazing!
You look very sophisticated.
- Would you hire me?
- I would.
I would.
And you seem so knowledgeable.
- I think we're ready for lipstick?
- I'm not a huge lip person.
I'm more of an eye person, so when I'm going on an interview, I just want to be very authentically me.
I would probably do a more natural lip.
But if you're like a lip person, I would say go for it, because whatever makes you feel more comfortable.
- I am a red lip person, so I am going to go for this Smashbox lip.
It's a cooler red, so it's not as bold and bright.
This is, like, professional red.
- It's almost kinda like a brick red.
- I have like this natural lip-liner thing going, so I don't usually do a liner, but I definitely recommend it for a deep color.
- Yeah, I would do a lip-liner definitely here.
- And the applicator for this is so great.
It is very, very precise.
- [Elise] Yeah, I love how it's like flat, but tilted up and it has a point at the very beginning.
Oh my God!
- Oh my gosh!
- [Elise] That looks amazing on you.
- Wow.
Wow.
- It really does.
It's so pretty.
- I'm obsessed with this color.
Wow.
- I know.
You can keep it.
- Thank you so much!
- So, last step.
Most important.
We have MAC Prep and Prime Fix+ Ahhh!
- Okay, ready?
On the count of three.
Don't breathe in.
Close your eyes.
One two three.
(spraying) - Ahhh!
I mean, this is also just an icon.
So many people use this to set their makeup.
It is an absolute go-to.
So you have your makeup look all done.
What are you wearing to your interview?
- I like to keep it very neutral for an interview.
Especially when I do have on, like, a color, I like to go with, like, a white button-down shirt.
Maybe like a black blazer.
Depending on the job, maybe like a pair of jeans?
A really nice dark-wash pair of jeans.
- Mm-hmm. No holes.
- No. No distressed.
I always do black and white.
That's my go-to.
- Easy, easy formula.
- Sure-fire.
Way it is.
Just, like, look professional.
- I love that. We already got the job.
(laughter) - Why are we even here?
- We're two weeks in already.
Please.
