Today I'm going to show you how you can use AI and Claude to make you graphic designs directly within Canva super quickly and super professionally. I used
to run a marketing agency back in the days and I've spent years of my life inside Canva creating marketing content for clients, but now the process has
become dramatically easier and quicker thanks to AI. If you're new here, hello.
My name is Matt. I've helped thousands of business owners learn about AI and also apply it in a way that actually saves time or generates their business more revenue. So, let me show you how
more revenue. So, let me show you how you connect Claude and Canva to create designs for whatever you want super easily just by prompting it. So, first
things first, you're going to want to install Claude Desktop. This is the app that you use on your computer rather than on the browser. Simply search
Claude Desktop and download Claude and you come here and download it. Once
you've got it uh downloaded and installed, you want to come here and what we want to do is connect a connector. So, there are several ways to
connector. So, there are several ways to do this. The easiest way is to come to
do this. The easiest way is to come to this plus button, go on to connectors, and then we go manage connectors. You
can see I've already got a few um installed already, but let's connect Canvas. So, you can, in fact, you can
Canvas. So, you can, in fact, you can see it down here, or we can go up here and go browse connectors and find Canva.
Once we click on that button there, it's going to open up to Canva, which is going to allow us to connect to our Canva account. Um, and then that's going
Canva account. Um, and then that's going to essentially build that magic connection that we need in order for Claude to be able to use Canva um to build you or to edit anything that you
need. So, there we go. It's literally
need. So, there we go. It's literally
that easy. One thing that we do have to note though is that when you install any connector, including Canva, before you can use it, you have to restart uh the
claw desktop app. Sometimes this isn't made clear, and this is a a reason that many people have issues when installing connectors. So I'm simply going to close
connectors. So I'm simply going to close claude code or claude desktop even and then I'm going to open it again and then we'll have access to that connector. So
there we go. Now when you are trying to use Canva there are two ways you can use it. Either you can directly invoke it by
it. Either you can directly invoke it by saying hey use Canva to do this or um Claude will see where you might want to create something. So if you say hey create me
something. So if you say hey create me an Instagram post it will go ahead and use Canva. However, especially when you
use Canva. However, especially when you have lots of connectors um installed within Claude, you want to be specific and you want to say, "Hey, use this connector to do this thing." So, what
I'm going to say is use the Canva connector to create me a Instagram post for my bakery announcing that we have launched new cinnamon quason. Okay,
there we go. And we will send that off.
And because I've said using Canva, it we are going to see that it's going to connect to Canva and then it's going to do its thing. And actually, very quickly, we're going to see some previews of some options um that it's
going to create for us. Okay, so here we go. Here are four Instagram posts
go. Here are four Instagram posts designed for your bakery's cinnamon quason launch. Okay, so we can see there
quason launch. Okay, so we can see there are some pretty good options here in terms of these are looking pretty good.
Much better than I could design myself.
So, let's click on this one. This one's
my favorite. And you can see it gets a little bit larger. And then I can open this in Canva. Open link. And uh let me bring this onto the correct screen. We
can see we are within Canva and we have got this post which we saw in Claude. So
a question you may be asking is Matt you could create something like this within like Nano Banana 2 Nano Banana Pro.
What's the point in creating it in Canva? Good question. The reason for
Canva? Good question. The reason for this is that everything is editable.
When you create something completely using AI as in like the AI images generated um it's very tricky. It's very
finicky to change certain elements with this not at all. It also means that we can go in and edit certain parts or use templates. So I can come in here and if
templates. So I can come in here and if I wanted to say new arrival, I can change this to say um look what's new.
Should probably have an apostrophe there. Uh if I wanted to change any of
there. Uh if I wanted to change any of the text, then I could do that much more easily than if I was doing it with Nano Banana Pro. And also these changes are
Banana Pro. And also these changes are free. If I was wanting to make a change
free. If I was wanting to make a change with an image that I created purely with AI, then it's going to cost me a new credit every single time. And especially
if I creating like a 4K image, that's going to cost me like um 15 cent every time I create a new image, which isn't a lot of money, but if you're making lots of iterations and you're doing this all
day, every day is going to quickly add up. This way, you simply use AI to
up. This way, you simply use AI to create this within Canva and then you can edit it however you want for free essentially. So you can come in here and
essentially. So you can come in here and say, "Okay, we can't see cinnamon. Let's
change that color to white." There we go. It's a little bit more readable. So
go. It's a little bit more readable. So
there we go. That's the first example.
Let's have a look at another one. So I'm
going to go back over to Claude. Uh
let's close this. And in fact, let's start a new chat. And I'm going to say, "Using Canva, can you create me a thumbnail for a YouTube video talking
about how you can use Canva and Claude?"
So there we go. I'm going to send that off. Pretty meta. that it's going to
off. Pretty meta. that it's going to create me a thumbnail for this video here. The thing to note here is that
here. The thing to note here is that it's very good at creating your first stage, a first iteration. I am probably not going to use this thumbnail here.
The reason being that we'll see is that they are pretty generic. It is very good at going from having done nothing to getting something 80% of the way there.
But going from 80% to 100% of the way there, you still need some sort of human interaction, human intervention. And
this is pretty much the same with any AI process at the moment. So that's not unique with this. But here we go. Here
you can see it's created us a few um ideas for some thumbnails. You know,
actually they're not too bad, you know.
I mean, they're not in my style. Uh but
I mean they could work and I'm sure they would be fine, right? And of course, like you could do previously, you can open it up and you can view it in Canva and you can make any changes that you want. You know, you could change this
want. You know, you could change this background color from purple. You could
change this text over to like a wonderful yellow color. How wonderful
does that look? And make whatever changes you want to make. Okay. So,
let's have a look at another example.
So, what I'm going to say is, please can you use the Canva connection to create me a new logo for my fintech company?
You can make up the name of the company and the colors. Please make it professional. Okay, so we're going to
professional. Okay, so we're going to make it create us a logo. So you can see it's going off accessing Canva and just like it did with the other ones, it's going to take maybe 15 seconds, maybe 30 seconds, and it's going to give us some
options. Okay, so here we are. Here are
options. Okay, so here we are. Here are
four professional logos for next vault.
Yeah, that sounds strong, doesn't it? So
we can have a look and we can see like some of them are not bad. Like this one is genuinely quite good. So I can open this up and of course I can go in I can play around with it. Change the colors.
I can see the logo and I can edit that if I want to edit that in any way. But
this is pretty good. Like if you are going from n to one then this is a pretty good way to actually like get off the marks. Is it exactly perfect? No.
the marks. Is it exactly perfect? No.
You still need to make some changes and that's a story with everything with AI at the moment. It's not 100% straight away but pretty damn good from like 30 seconds. So let's have a look at one
seconds. So let's have a look at one more example. I've been getting into a
more example. I've been getting into a little bit of sauna recently. So, I'm
going to say, can you use the Claudeco connector to create me a presentation of a couple of slides talking about the benefits of sauna on your health? And
we're going to send that off. Again, I'm
using Whisper Flow to um enter in these prompts here. And you can see it looks
prompts here. And you can see it looks like I actually misspoke here and I said use clawed code maybe rather than Canva.
But here's an example of me saying create a presentation and it goes ah okay, it's a presentation probably wants to use Canva. So even when you make a slip up, it still knows. So here it is
uh giving us the outline of what it's saying it wants to create. So the health benefits, cardiovascular, mental health and stress and muscle recovery. I can go in, I can customize this if I want to and change any of this. Um change it
from being professional to casual, minimalist to playful, whatever I want.
But I'm going to say, "Yep, that's good.
Go ahead. I trust you AI." And I'm going to send that off. So what it does really here is it generates me a prompt. And
then the prompt goes over to Canva and creates the presentation. So let's have a little little look at the prompt. This
is kind of like behind the scenes in terms of how Canva creates the prompt to create the presentation. So it says, "Please generate a presentation design with the outline by calling the generate
design structure tool with the following arguments." So you can see here it's
arguments." So you can see here it's kind of like a deconstructed API call, which is kind of interesting. This says
the topic, the audience, the length, um style, minimalistic, uh presentation, and you can see we've got the information for all of those slides. And
here you can see we have got back several different iterations of um what this might look like. They all look reasonably good. I quite like this one
reasonably good. I quite like this one here. So, I'm going to open this one up.
here. So, I'm going to open this one up.
And here we go. The health benefits of sauna presented by. And then I can add my name in there. And here we go. We've
got some text here. Um, we've got some lovely photos of some sauners, cardiovascular benefits, improved heart health, blood flow. Look at this. I
mean, this is pretty good. Again, you
will probably want to go in and make some changes. You want to make sure
some changes. You want to make sure that, you know, the information it's put in here is actually correct. But you can see this is like really good in terms of if I was going to create this absolutely
from scratch, then um it would take me a while. I wouldn't really know what to
while. I wouldn't really know what to create. I wouldn't know what font to go
create. I wouldn't know what font to go with, what colors to go with. I wouldn't
know where to find the images. It does
it all for you in literally a matter of seconds, which is just a massive timesaver if you're wanting to create presentations about sauners or whatever it is that you want to use it for. So,
there we go. That is an overview of this Canva connector within uh Claude and the Claude desktop app. It's super useful and it's only going to get more useful.
This is like the dumbest version that there is ever going to be. So, if any part of your role involves creating creatives, then this is going to be a massive help going forward into the future. If you really want to
future. If you really want to supercharge your Claude experience and your AI experience, I would highly recommend checking out these over 600 Claude code skills that I've put together in a list absolutely for free.
I'll leave a link in the description where you can go and check all of those out. They personally save me between 15
out. They personally save me between 15 and 20 hours every single week. And the
people in my community, it's saving thousands and thousands of hours for.
So, I would highly recommend going checking that out, having a look through them, and it can start saving you a lot of time. That's it from me. I will see
of time. That's it from me. I will see you in the next one. Bye-bye.
