All right, welcome back to the channel.
Dan here with Nord Tesla back with another FSD drive. Now, I know it's been a hot minute and I just did a video yesterday and in that video I was complaining I how I do not have the holiday update and I'm always the last
to get it. And sure enough, that seemed to work because that night I got it. So,
here we are this morning going for a drive and obviously this is with the new holiday update which included FSD version 14.2.1.25.
So, here we are. So, the first thing that I've noticed is the UI is a bit different. Uh, so down here, instead of
different. Uh, so down here, instead of having home or work, we have uh kind of like suggested locations. Uh, so we have the Home Depot, which I frequent a lot, as well as the gym. So, maybe it's
thinking out that's where I want to go.
And I do actually want to go there. But
what we're going to do is we're going to use Grock cuz this is obviously the Gro navigation update. So, your choices are
navigation update. So, your choices are either use the scroll wheel or not the scroll wheel, but this button on the steering wheel or just press this Grock button.
So, Gra, can you take me to Home Depot and then I want to go to Forino's and then take me to the Good Life on Wilson Street?
>> Sure. Navigating to Home Depot at 122 Martindale Crescent first, then Forinos on Upper James Street, then Goodlife Fitness on Wilson Street West in
Ancaster. Starting the route now, about
Ancaster. Starting the route now, about a half hour total drive.
Okay. The Forinos isn't on Upper James.
It's on Wilson Street.
>> Got it. Switching Forinos to the one on Wilson Street West in Ancaster at 54 Wilson Street West. Updating the route to Home Depot first, then Forino's
Ancaster, then Goodlife Fitness. Should
still be around a half hour total.
>> All right, let's go.
>> RIT set Home Depot on Martindale Crescent. Then Forino's Ancaster on
Crescent. Then Forino's Ancaster on Wilson Street West. Then Goodlife
Fitness on Wilson Street West. On our
way. First turn coming up soon.
>> So, let's see where it's going to go here.
>> Checking the route. Head west on the current road for about 1 kilometer. Then
turn right onto Martindale Road toward Home Depot. ETA there is 6 minutes.
Home Depot. ETA there is 6 minutes.
So, I noticed that the actual route isn't okay. Hold off, Grock.
isn't okay. Hold off, Grock.
So, it doesn't look like cuz the Home Depot is over here. So, it's not going there. So, let's see what happens here.
there. So, let's see what happens here.
So, in this video, we're going to be testing kind of two different things.
One is the Glock navigation, and two is the offse new drive with uh FSD 14.2.1.25.
I like it better when it was just 14.2.
I can remember that. It was easy.
So, let's see what's going to happen with the Home Depot because it doesn't look like it's going there.
So, it should turn right here, but I don't think it is going to. So, I'm
going to do is once we turn this corner and obviously not going I'm going to kind of ask Rock what it's doing.
Hey Grock, it doesn't look like you're going to the Home Depot. Can you
reroute?
>> Sure. Rerouting to Home Depot now. Where
exactly? Like the one in Hamilton or somewhere specific?
>> The one in Lancaster.
>> Rerouting to the Home Depot at 122 Martindale Crescent in Hamilton. It's
just 1.4 km away, adding 8 minutes. That
the Edcaster one you meant.
>> Yeah, >> got it. Navigating to Home Depot 22 Martindale Crescent in Hamilton now.
ETA's quick since it's so close.
So, it's still not going.
>> Checking the route now. Let me make sure navigation is set to Home Depot at 122 Martindale Crescent in Hamilton.
>> Oh, here we are. We're turning around.
No, we're not. We're going the wrong way.
>> Okay, now it's going.
>> Great. It's locked in now to Home Depot.
7 minutes away. Let me know if it veers off again.
>> Okay, we'll do.
>> Sounds good. Safe trip to Home Depot.
Holler if you need anything.
>> So, it's going to pull into this private road. I'm assuming to turn around. Let's
road. I'm assuming to turn around. Let's
see what it does here.
>> Yeah, it's probably just maneuvering for the best approach to Home Depot. Keep an
eye and yell if it needs a tweak.
All right, I'm going to turn Gro off because apparently it listens the entire time.
All right, so it looks like this is Yeah, this is going to be a good little detour here.
So interesting speed bump there. You
notice that there was no signs and there was no actually markings on the road to indicate a speed bump other than, you know, you can kind of tell there's a speed bump there. So, kind of saw it
last second and kind of slowed down there.
Okay, so we're back on our way to Home Depot. So, obviously the the Gro
Depot. So, obviously the the Gro navigation and the Tesla navigation isn't all that synced up. Uh, I guess maybe there's a time delay maybe
because once I the second time I asked it to correct itself, it was still kind of going and eventually I figured out.
So I guess going forward you should probably check your route to see where it's going.
So, as far as the drive goes, it's pretty smooth. Uh, still no complaints.
pretty smooth. Uh, still no complaints.
I'm not like, it's hard to criticize the driving at this point cuz it's really it's pretty good. Like, I'm not other than edge cases, you're not going to get too many issues.
My one complaint is that's brought up a lot of comments is the turn signal on the roundabouts. Uh there's really no
the roundabouts. Uh there's really no appropriate time to use turn signals on roundabouts other than if you're making an immediate right turn. Uh because the
car will put on the turn signal and other cars don't know how to like because it'll turn put on the turn signal but it won't know what your intent like which exit are you plan on
taking. So I don't use like to use turn
taking. So I don't use like to use turn signals at all in roundabouts unless I'm making that immediate right turns because then you're just turning them right off. But, uh, I wish I wouldn't do
right off. But, uh, I wish I wouldn't do that.
All right, moving forward. So, it's
going to go to Home Depot.
So, this update I think of most people have seen that the driver profiles have been a bit adjusted. When I say driver profiles, I mean the speed profiles.
So, back in my earlier videos with 14.1.2, you could really tell the difference between the speed profiles cuz when you have traffic involved, other cars, pedestrians, weather, there was really
not a lot of difference. And I did do a lot of highway driving, but even on the highway, the few times I did go, it would be, you know, 10. It wasn't crazy like 14.2. 14.2 to if you had it if you
like 14.2. 14.2 to if you had it if you were in hurry mode and you were on the highway going 100, it was going 125 up to 130. Uh, sorry for you American folk,
to 130. Uh, sorry for you American folk, but that's kilometers. I'm not going 100 miles an hour, don't worry.
So it would go it would go pretty fast and like that's why like if you're in hurry mode that's kind of like you know on average of what you should be driving or what would you be driving and when
14.1 no 2.1 see I get confused with all the different dots. Uh but the last update
different dots. Uh but the last update you like sometimes I was I can barely go 120 and that wasn't really acceptable like even like in regular driving I
don't go that slow. Uh, so I'll take this on the highway later and see how much of an improvement there is. But
apparently from the feedback that people have so far on this new update is that the speed profiles are a little more adjusted properly. So hurry will
adjusted properly. So hurry will actually go a little faster and standard is your average kind of driving. So I'm
looking forward to testing that out. But
like I said, driving in the city, you really can't it's hard to judge just based on other traffic, weather, and all kinds of factors uh whether how far like whe what the offset is because basically that's what we're looking for is what
the offset compared to the regular speed limit is.
All right, so we are going to go Home Depot first. Uh so we're just going to
Depot first. Uh so we're just going to turn the corner around here.
So, interesting to note in the navigation, I don't see like usually if you had a like a a waypoint route set up, you'd see all
your locations, but that's not here. So,
I'm wondering uh if the waypoint's already remembered or am I going to go to Home Depot and that's going to be the end of it. It should
hopefully just park and then let me continue on my route, but I don't I don't see the rest of the route here.
So, we'll see what happens.
I don't like sitting at red lights, so we're just going to skip this part.
Okay, and we're back. So, we're just going to make a left turn here. We do
not have an advance, so we're just going have to wait our turn for traffic.
So, it looks like it's going to go to the front of this door and look for a parking spot. And I don't like that
parking spot. And I don't like that behavior. Like, if there's a spot here,
behavior. Like, if there's a spot here, take it.
So, we'll see what it does.
So back to talking about the speed profiles. I am in hurry mode. I should
profiles. I am in hurry mode. I should
have mentioned this earlier.
So, this is kind of like a back entrance for the Home Depot, and it's kind of a tight spot. This is where all like the
tight spot. This is where all like the rentals, vans, and trucks go. So, it's
always quite packed and busy here.
Okay. So,
it's going to go all the way to the front. So, like it could just go down
front. So, like it could just go down this lane. Oh, it is going down this
this lane. Oh, it is going down this lane. So, this is going to be a pickle
lane. So, this is going to be a pickle here. So, it's going to say actually he
here. So, it's going to say actually he saw the two cars backing up. I was like, I want no part of that. So, we're going to go keep going this way.
So, we have a pedestrian here just crossing.
And I bet you it's going to go in that spot over there.
Or it's going to back up here.
Nope. It's going to Yeah, that's what it's going to do.
Okay. Okay. So, this is the first time I've seen where it's going forward into a Oh, no. It's going to back up. Okay,
never mind. I thought it was going to actually adjust itself, but it actually is going to back up into this spot.
So, this is a very good parking job. Uh,
reminiscent of actual auto park as opposed to FSD parking.
So, I don't see any thing in the navigation. So, we're just going to start our navigation. Actually,
let's bring up Grock. Do you still have the rest of the navigation planned?
>> No, navigation's canceled right now.
Want me to set one up to a restaurant?
>> No, we're going to go to the Forinos in Ancaster and then to the Good Life in Ancaster.
Got Forinos at 54 Wilson Street West in Ancaster and Goodlife Fitness at 196 Wilson Street West in Ancaster. Starting
navigation there now. First Forinos then Good Life.
>> Okay. Can you go or do I need to press the button?
>> Navigation set. First to Forinos then Good Life. Just confirm on the screen or
Good Life. Just confirm on the screen or say go if you want me to start.
>> Go.
Starting navigation now. First to
Forinos on Wilson Street West in Ancaster. Then Good Life Fitness. ETA
Ancaster. Then Good Life Fitness. ETA
about 5 minutes to Forinos.
>> So I didn't really go.
>> No worries. Navigation still ready for Foros first, then good life. Just say go when you're set or confirm on screen.
>> We're going to confirm on screen because I said go and you didn't actually move the car. Are you able to do that?
the car. Are you able to do that?
No, I can't press the screen button for you. That needs to be done manually for
you. That needs to be done manually for safety. Just tap confirm when you're
safety. Just tap confirm when you're ready to start to Forinos.
>> Okay, we're on our way.
>> Great. Safe trip to Forinos first about 4 km away. Let me know if you need anything along the way.
>> Okay, so off we go back to uh get back on the road here.
So, I'm actually quite impressed that it's remembered to go this exit because for the longest time it would get very confused in that Home Depot parking lot.
All right, so we're going to go So, you're making a right turn here.
And so, right now, it's in hurry mode.
And the max on this street is 25. I'm
going to go around 20.
So, I'm going to try Mad Max just to bump it up again. See if I notice a difference.
So, we got the 48.
Now, it's now we're at 50. So
again, it's really it's really hard to decipher whether what the speed profiles are.
I did notice the acceleration with MadMax was a little bit quicker. Uh I
felt kind of felt the turn in that last turn. Uh so that uh I think the
turn. Uh so that uh I think the altogether the driving is probably just a little more aggressive and the speed it's not like people a lot of people are saying it's a speed profile and just
it's going to determine what speed you're going but I I find it's more so the entire behavior of driving and because like I said Tesla itself
said that the speed has to do with the flow of traffic and with everything like all kinds of different scenarios or not scenarios but like
aspects go into the cipher go into determining the speed.
So I like how on the right lane there it was going to go in that right lane and then it realized that that lane ends and in my previous video it did that. it
had to like kind of really shoot up to beat the car because the lane was ending. Uh so I don't know if I saw that
ending. Uh so I don't know if I saw that and recognized that or just, you know, learned behavior, but I'm glad that it went into the right lane that went back into the left lane.
So, not bad driving.
And I think like even from 14.2 now to this I think this is the third update. Uh there's been a lot of
update. Uh there's been a lot of refinement. I find it's a lot smoother
refinement. I find it's a lot smoother in the parking lots.
And this is a good update.
And I would say like this is this is doortodoor full self-driving. Like
there's no as you see it driven through snow. It's capable of driving through
snow. It's capable of driving through snow and weather. That was a big thing that like what if the cameras got obstructed while it's snowing? Like what
would the what would the car do? It just
stop especially in like a robo taxi situation with no one in it. Would it
just pull over and that be the end of it? Uh so clearly Tesla has figured this
it? Uh so clearly Tesla has figured this out. Uh cuz right now testing in Austin,
out. Uh cuz right now testing in Austin, they're testing without anyone in the car. So obviously Austin is not getting
car. So obviously Austin is not getting any snow, but even like you know if there was like heavy rain or stuff like that, I'm sure that the car is just not going to pull over if there was someone
in the car as a passenger.
So they must be pretty confident that they've solved full self-driving. And I
think they have.
So, I spoke in my last video with the the new front camera has a wiper or like some washer fluid going to it. So, I'll
be curious to see that next time it like it snows or something like that. I I'm
going to have the camera on and I can see if they activate that wiper at any time during the drive.
That was my biggest thing is that when I first got a Tesla and you know they had cameras and they were going to go with camera vision only.
Why did they not have like either a little wiper or heaters or washer fluid to these cameras? like it's like it would be like such a simple solution and I don't know how they if they they've
obviously figured out how to do it without it but I think that would have been a very easy solution is just to like have like a heater or like you know have the ability to wash these cameras.
So here we are. Speaking of washing cameras, we have our automated washer fluid wipers going. So that just cleaned off the camera just a little bit. So,
you can obviously clean off the front camera, but the sides. And I don't think they rely too much on the back camera because, well, obviously they do for backing up, but just ignore what I just
said.
But what I was going to say is that that camera is ridiculously dirty all the time.
So, I am hoping you guys are liking these FSD videos. Uh, I know I've got a few comments on the format, but if you guys want to see like, you know, do you want me to speed this up? Do you like hearing me talk? I don't like hearing me
talk, so I don't know why you guys do, but if you do, uh, if you prefer just me to speed up this video and have some music going, let me know in the comments. I will not take offense.
comments. I will not take offense.
or if you just want like kind of like highlight videos of like, hey, this is what I did as opposed to these long like full drawn drives.
One thing I will do though is I will skip the red lights because no one wants to sit at a red light and it'd be awesome if we could just skip red lights
altogether, but we can't. Actually, this
one turned green. So, here we go.
So, making a left turn here.
So, I'm actually going to take a look and see where it's going to.
So, it's going to go here. What I'm
going to try to do is have Grock make it go to the side of the store, which is on the east side.
Hey, Grock, when we get to Forinos, can you park on the east side of the building? Sure.
building? Sure.
I'll aim to park on the east side of Forinos when we get there. Anything
else?
>> No, that's it.
>> Got it. East side it is. Let me know if anything changes.
>> Okay. So, if we look at our map, it should I just told it to park in this little section here. So, let's see if it does it.
So, easily handled that uh utility truck on the side of the road. Just went right around it. No big deal there.
around it. No big deal there.
So, I'm going to bring it down to hurry because I've not noticed the difference with MadMax.
All right. So, coming up is uh left the Forinos.
All right, it should go after this. Here
we go. And there's a polestar.
Okay, so it should go straight is what I told Grock. Uh I don't think it's going
told Grock. Uh I don't think it's going to listen because it's already signal to turn right. And no, it's not going to
turn right. And no, it's not going to listen.
So interesting. It's going to come here.
So it should look for a spot here, I guess. And here we are.
guess. And here we are.
So, not bad.
I'm pretty even. not as crooked as it used to be, but obviously did not go on the east side of the building. So now I notice again the gra navigation is not set. So maybe I'm saying it wrong. Like
set. So maybe I'm saying it wrong. Like
maybe you have to set like Well, it said all the points. Okay, so let's start self-driving.
pretty good. Okay.
So, I noticed it does not have a destination in mind. So, I don't know what it's going to do.
So, let's let it do its thing. I'm going
to have some confidence that it still remembers that we're going to the good life and we'll see where it turns.
So, we are turning.
We're going the wrong way. So, I'm going to do is I'm just gonna Okay, so we're back on our go.
So, I'm not too sure why I didn't keep the way points in the navigation because basically what it's been doing is it's been going to one destination and completely forgetting about the other ones.
So, let's talk to Grock and see what went wrong there.
Hey, Grock. I had a couple of destinations in mind, but when we go to the first destination, you completely forgot about the other two. What am I doing wrong?
>> Sorry about that. Sounds frustrating.
Tell me the destinations again, and I'll set the full route with all stops in order right now.
>> It's okay. We're already going to our destination. Uh, I was just wondering if
destination. Uh, I was just wondering if I did something wrong or do I need to clarify anything.
>> No worries. You didn't do anything wrong. Sometimes routes update or
wrong. Sometimes routes update or overwrite if not set as multi- stop.
Next time, list them all at once, like navigate to place one, then two, then three, and it'll chain them perfectly.
>> Okay, we'll try that next time.
>> Sounds good. Got it locked in for next time. Anything else on your mind?
time. Anything else on your mind?
>> No, we're good.
Cool.
>> Okay. So, now we are heading to the good life. Now, since 14.2 came out, this
life. Now, since 14.2 came out, this good life has been an issue with the navigation in terms of it actually doesn't go to the building anymore. So,
when I put in this address, it would take me to this front door of the good life. But, ever since 14.2 two came out.
life. But, ever since 14.2 two came out.
It's been going to the back of this other building.
Uh so we'll see what it does with this new update. See if the navigation has
new update. See if the navigation has been fixed at all.
Uh we'll see what happens.
And obviously cannot ask Grock because uh I asked it to go to the east side of the Forinos and it did not do that.
So, let's see first off where it's actually taking me. So, yeah, it's taking me in the wrong spot.
So, the good life is here and it's taking me here. So, what we're going to do, uh, we're just going to put in a point.
And then we're going to How do you edit this?
So, in the holiday update, uh, instead of you would be able to edit the route easier, uh, I got to figure out how to do that cuz I still have to go through the menu.
So, we are in hurry mode and we are going 80 and a 60. So, let's bring it down to standard. See if that Oh, so we're slowing right down.
So we're going about 68 and we slowed down well before that roundabout was coming. So I think the standard is more of that like 10 over
offset.
So again see what that like the turn signal on the roundabout. I
don't like that at all.
All right. So, final roundabout.
And I remember back in the day when like FSD was first like kind of good, it would still mess up these roundabouts.
And like it is completely perfect now.
It it always mess up this one going in the wrong lane. Uh so full confidence in this system now.
Okay. So, we're going to make a left turn coming up.
And then looks like it's going to make a right turn into this first lane here and find a spot.
Please go to the back. Please go to the back. No. No. I don't want to go right
back. No. No. I don't want to go right now. All right.
now. All right.
One day I hope we'll be able to pick more at the back of the lot if we wanted to.
All right, so good parking job here going front first. Uh we're completely straight, so good issue there. So that
is the first initial drive for myself of the new update which is 14.2.1.25.
It's a mouthful, I know. Uh so obviously tried out the Grock and you know it did fairly good. Uh, however, it kind of
fairly good. Uh, however, it kind of messed up some of the locations. First
off with Home Depot and then, uh, it never remembered. We want we would go to
never remembered. We want we would go to one location and it would never remember the second location. I would have to tell it to go there again. Uh, so some work needs to be tested on that to see
if I'm doing something wrong or was it just a fluke? I don't know. But some
more testing for that. That's the video.
Hope you liked it. If you like this video, if you did, please give it a thumbs up. And also, don't forget to
thumbs up. And also, don't forget to subscribe and hit that notification bell so you don't miss videos, which I release about every week or so. Tons of
awesome Tesla content, and tons of FS videos cuz they're coming, the updates are coming fast and furious. So, stay
tuned for that. Hit that notification bell so you get notified. Anyways,
thanks again for watching. In the
meantime, drive safe and, you know, if you have an FSD trial right now, be sure to take advantage of it because you you will be amazed by this uh software. Uh,
you won't regret it. Actually, you will regret it because then you'll be hooked and you'll have to pay like $100 a month. So, uh, don't say I didn't warn
month. So, uh, don't say I didn't warn you. Anyways, try it out. We'll catch
you. Anyways, try it out. We'll catch
you next time. All right. Thanks for
watching.
