four Teslas behind me and choosing the wrong one could cost you up to $20,000.
The cheapest one keeps most of Tesla's technology, but Tesla removed more than you might realize.
What the hell?
This is the version most people assume is the smart choice.
And this one that performance reaches 0 to 60 in 3.3 seconds. Holy. And then we have the big bera of the group, the
Tesla Model Y L. It's seat six. It's
perfect for families. So today I'm testing every difference that actually matters. Space, comfort, range, and
matters. Space, comfort, range, and charging, driving, and of course, value.
Let's start with the cheap one. The
Model Y standard starts at around $40,000.
Rear wheel drive gives you 321 miles in the standard. Now, if you want the most
the standard. Now, if you want the most unique Tesla standard all the way, for some weird reason, you don't get a daytime running light bar. Look, no daytime running
light bar. Look, no daytime running light bar. You get daytime running
light bar. You get daytime running lights right here, baby. A projector
headlight, but it doesn't have matrix LEDs, which means it's not adaptive high beams, less visibility, but not a deal breaker. High beams are still really
breaker. High beams are still really good. Light output is still very, very
good. Light output is still very, very good. You do get [music] a front-facing
good. You do get [music] a front-facing camera over there and air vents as well that close and open for more efficiency.
You still have windshield cameras, two of them. And if you come over here, side
of them. And if you come over here, side repeater camera right there, pillar camera right here. And in the back, another camera. The difference, no light
another camera. The difference, no light bar or anything. You just have lights on the outside. Where's the yellow? I don't
the outside. Where's the yellow? I don't
see any yellow. The reverse lights for the Model Y standard is integrated here.
Another difference between the Model Y standard versus all the other Teslas is that you don't have a motor in the mirror. So, it does not automatically
mirror. So, it does not automatically fold. You have to manually fold it. So,
fold. You have to manually fold it. So,
that could be annoying if you're parking in a tight garage in and out every single day compared to this one where it automatically folds. And then we come to
automatically folds. And then we come to the other versions. Can you even tell the difference between the models from the front? The Model Y premium starts at
the front? The Model Y premium starts at $45,990 with 357 mi in the rearwheel drive. But
for an extra $4,000, you can get all-wheel drive, but the range drops to 327 [music] miles. Daytime running light bar here,
miles. Daytime running light bar here, turn signal indicators here, matrix LEDs down here. You still get that
down here. You still get that front-facing [music] camera.
In the performance, we could see this new black piece they added. You [music]
also have a new diffuser down here. And
the crazy thing is every single model has the same amount of cameras for the self-driving as the cheapest version, which is the [music] standard. Same
cameras in the windshield, same cameras on the side repeater. The back,
everything is the same. Now, here's
where we get some of the differences.
Model Y premiums, no spoiler, you do have a nice LED diffused bar that comes down here. It looks super cool at night
down here. It looks super cool at night because it shines light all the way down to the floor. Turn signals indicated here as well that are yellow. We come to
the performance, which cost $57,990, but you have less miles at 306. They
added a carbon fiber spoiler here. You
also have a rear diffuser. It just makes it a little bit more aggressive. In the
Model Y L's, currently the only version is the launch edition, $61,990 with 328 mi. But once the launch version
is done, it'll probably be a little cheaper. This allnew gloss black
cheaper. This allnew gloss black spoiler. It goes from here and it goes
spoiler. It goes from here and it goes all the way across from here. Better
efficiency, better aerodynamics compared to the Model Y performance. It just kind of stops right here. The Y L is also 7 in longer than the rest of the Model Y's. This allows for more interior space
Y's. This allows for more interior space because it's an actual sixseater. Now,
here is the differences that we're going to see with the Model Y L. One thing
that Tesla does good at now is they put metallic tint, top roof metallic tint.
So, when you look at it, it looks like a mirror. It's supposed to help reject
mirror. It's supposed to help reject heat. It's on that one. It's on this
heat. It's on that one. It's on this one. It's on that one over there. Not on
one. It's on that one over there. Not on
the standards, though. Take a look up here. I don't see any metallic tint
here. I don't see any metallic tint here, but it is a glass roof. Why would
they do that, you say? Because if you look inside of here, where is the glass roof? Where is it? No
glass to look out of in the Model Y standard. They covered it up. Now, I
standard. They covered it up. Now, I
talked to Tesla a long time ago. They
say it's because production wise, it's easier to produce the glass roof on the top. But does it actually matter? Does
top. But does it actually matter? Does
it actually keep the car cooler? So, off
camera, I installed these temperature sensor. Right now, it's around 80°. And
sensor. Right now, it's around 80°. And
we're going to see later on which car gets hottest the fastest because you would think the glass roof and there's nothing on there should be cooler, but the model has metallic tint all over the
car. So, I'm curious to see which one is
car. So, I'm curious to see which one is actually cooler. But now we talk about
actually cooler. But now we talk about paint colors. The model comes in a new
paint colors. The model comes in a new paint color only available to the Model Y, cosmic silver, which is nice. I like
the look of it. Moving on here, this is the quicksilver paint as well as premiums. Both get the quicks. One thing
that they have now that they didn't have before is the allnew frost blue baby girl, but only available in the Model Y performance. Over on the premiums, you
performance. Over on the premiums, you get all the general colors. You get
white, they have a new blue as well, black, quicks, and this nice deep red color. In the Model Y standards, in the
color. In the Model Y standards, in the US at least, they have three colors: white, black, and gray. diamond black
specks of gold in there. I think the black color looks awesome. And don't
forget, Tesla does sell a free color, so you can get any of these cars in gray for free. Now, inside is where Tesla
for free. Now, inside is where Tesla really saved money on the Model Y standard. However, at first, I thought
standard. However, at first, I thought it was a bad thing, but it might actually be a good thing. And if you didn't realize, it's sunny and hot now.
The Model Y standard is giving us 85° on the inside. There's a foam piece on the
the inside. There's a foam piece on the inside, no glass roof exposed, 85 degrees. The Model Y premiums with the
degrees. The Model Y premiums with the glass roof, 100 degrees on the inside.
And the Model Y L with the metallic tint everywhere is giving me 98°.
So even though the Model Y standard is the cheapest model, it's the best at heat rejection [music] because you don't have that glass roof on the inside. Now,
one thing you do not get with the Model Y standard. There's supposed to be a
Y standard. There's supposed to be a HEPA filter right here, but there's not.
Look at this air vents and there's a hepailter underneath. Helps you filter
hepailter underneath. Helps you filter smoke particles. That's very helpful if
smoke particles. That's very helpful if there's a fire or something like that.
All the models have the hepailter. The
standard does not have the hepailter. It
does have a cabin air filter though, but all the other models also have a cabin filter. One nice thing if you do live in
filter. One nice thing if you do live in colder climates, every single Tesla Model Y lineup does come with heated wiper blades. I like that. Another thing
wiper blades. I like that. Another thing
that's different, the Model Y premiums performance and Y L have a nice seal here that's waterproof. Water will not get in. Nice and dry. Ooh, my seat
get in. Nice and dry. Ooh, my seat truck. A very decentiz frunk. And
truck. A very decentiz frunk. And
there's also a drain plug in the frunk so you can just like put your ice in there. We come to the Model Y standard
there. We come to the Model Y standard exposed parts. Here you have this red
exposed parts. Here you have this red thing that it says do not cut unless you're a fireman. It does not fit a carry-on.
Oh man. But it can fit like a backpack or something like that. The problem with that though is there's no seals all around. There's also no seal up here
around. There's also no seal up here which means it's not the most waterproof.
Oh my god, it got so wet. But I feel like with normal rain, normal driving, it's not going to get too wet. You'll be
okay. But that is something to keep in mind that is different between the Model Y standard and all the other Teslas.
But when you close the frunk, see how it closes just like that? I like that.
Whereas with the Model Y premiums and all the other models, you close it and you have to close it again. Boom. So now
let's talk about the inside. Starting
with the cheapest model first. Now
already one thing I do not like about the Model Y standard is that you don't have any seat controls.
How much money they're saving, I have no idea. But to adjust the seats, you have
idea. But to adjust the seats, you have to go through the screen here. Still
comes with lumbar support, but you have to adjust it through the screen. The
beauty is though is that majority of people have a profile because it's linked to their key and it automatically adjusts [music] based on that profile.
Another thing that's different, the Model Y standard has a manual adjust steering wheel. So, you put this down,
steering wheel. So, you put this down, fold it in and out. If you look at the screen here, 15-in screen, so you have less screen area. Still has a fast chip, the Ryzen chip, and you still get the
same tech that all the other Teslas have. The dashboard, textile material,
have. The dashboard, textile material, airless air vent, so it's all controlled through the screen. Nice and black. A
little bit of hard plastic right there.
No ambient lighting, so no RGB strip that goes around. Vinyl cloth piece here. At the bottom, you have a lot more
here. At the bottom, you have a lot more hard plastic. Hard plastic. hard plastic
hard plastic. Hard plastic. hard plastic
on the inside and then when you look at the windows it's one piece of glass so it does close differently and it will be a little bit louder as well when you are driving because it's single pane.
Another difference is that the wireless chargers are [music] different plastic.
They're not this soft Alcantara material and you have a giant hole here that you can store stuff with more hard plastic.
You still get a lockable glove [music] box which is nice but they didn't line it with cloth or anything. It's just
again more hard plastic on the inside of there. They remove lots of tiny [music]
there. They remove lots of tiny [music] little things to cut cost so that's cheaper for the consumer. You still get a standard rearview mirror. However, it
does not have any sort of adaptive darkening. So, if someone with super
darkening. So, if someone with super bright headlights is behind you, it's not going to turn green like the other cars do. But there's a reason why I
cars do. But there's a reason why I still highly recommend this vehicle, which I'll talk about in a second.
Another thing you do not get, which is a deal breaker for my mom, is AM FM radio.
You can choose Spotify, YouTube Music.
Look at all these options you can choose. But there's no AMFM radio in the
choose. But there's no AMFM radio in the Model Y standard. The seats also themselves, it's like a fake leather.
They have durable cloth. Very easy to clean. I'm sorry.
clean. I'm sorry.
I got a wet towel. Not bad. Not cooled.
There's no holes in here. So, you
[music] do not get cooled seats in the Model Y standard. Just heated seats. Now
I'm 6'3.
Head space is great. I have this much head space. But let's see the space in
head space. But let's see the space in the second row. I'm fully back and I have a solid like 2 in of space right there. The seats also recline manually.
there. The seats also recline manually.
So with the full recline, I have this much head space. My hair is touching a little bit, but overall it's very comfortable back here. No coat hook hangers or anything like that. Another
thing you don't get anymore, no pockets back there. You have manual air vent, no
back there. You have manual air vent, no screen or anything. Two USBC ports. And
here is a funny one. This piece doesn't come down. The whole thing comes down,
come down. The whole thing comes down, which reveals some cup holders, and you can put your armrest there. So,
literally the middle piece comes all the way down, but you still have an adjustable headrest. You could still
adjustable headrest. You could still have a higher headrest if you wanted to.
And these seats are not heated in the second row. So, they're just normal
second row. So, they're just normal bench seats. And that's it. And now we
bench seats. And that's it. And now we move on to the Model Y Premiums. Model Y Premiums come in a black or white interior. Baymax not included. Now, this
interior. Baymax not included. Now, this
is the older Model Y premium, [music] so it does have the white headliner. I'll
show you the black headliners in a second. It does also come with a glass
second. It does also come with a glass metallic tinted roof. Everyday Jen is afraid of the sun, so she put some sort of sunshine on one side. I don't know why. I do not condone her Asian actions.
why. I do not condone her Asian actions.
But on the inside of the Model Y Premium, there's a little bit more premium plastic black strip, but [music] there's RGB lighting integrated. Soft
plastic in here, fabric here, metal speaker grill, same white color seat material here, and [music] everything is just soft. See, nothing is hard. Even on
just soft. See, nothing is hard. Even on
the inside, it's all soft. On the
dashboard, you still have that fabric piece there. Airless air vents, but this
piece there. Airless air vents, but this piece has RGB lighting integrated, so it wraps around. Another thing that's great
wraps around. Another thing that's great is [music] you have dual pane glass, so it's quieter. And when you close the
it's quieter. And when you close the door, wow, I take it back. The door still feels like it closes like cheap.
I've been in Lexuses and premium vehicles and when you close the door it closes like tonk. You know that tunk sound like the tink. These ones, the
standard as well as the premiums. Golly, what am I in a Honda 1999 [music] Honda Civic? Anyways, all of these are
Honda Civic? Anyways, all of these are automatic. You have actual physical
automatic. You have actual physical controls in the seats, automatic steering wheel adjustments, up or down, in and out on easy entry profile. It'll
automatically move. Wireless charger
still, but it's like Alcantara, so it's nice and [music] soft and grippy. Center
storage areas here, so you have tons of storage here. You just have like more
storage here. You just have like more [music] material here, like a nice premium looking material there as well.
The seats are heated and cooled, so it shoots out nice cool air on your booty.
Now, when I sit in the Model Y Premium, I feel kind of low to the ground. My eye
level is here. I have whopping this much head space in the Model Y premiums. Now, in the second row, you get some unique features in the Model Y premiums. First
off, look at that. Put stuff here as well if you wanted to. There's no hard plastic on the sides. It's all soft. You
also have a center display now, so you can play games, Netflix, chill, and you have air vents that you can control [music] through the screen. Two USBC
ports. And the beauty with this one is you have automatic recline. So, if you want to recline it, I feel like I have more head space because there's this glass piece. [music] There's no foam.
glass piece. [music] There's no foam.
So, I have more head space in the Model Y premiums versus the standards. And now
bring this down. You have the cup holder here. Higher elbow support, so it's nice
here. Higher elbow support, so it's nice and comfortable. This still adjusts up
and comfortable. This still adjusts up and down as well. So that's nice. It is
heated, so not cooled. The Model Y premiums also have dual pane [music] glass in the rears, so it is much quieter. Now we go to the Model Y
quieter. Now we go to the Model Y performance. And the Premiums have the
performance. And the Premiums have the new black headliner. I don't know about you guys, I love the black headliner look. Completes the look. makes
look. Completes the look. makes
everything fluid, especially cuz all the dashboard and stuff is also black. With
the Model Y performance, you get some unique features. First off, a carbon
unique features. First off, a carbon fiber piece here. In the dash, you also get carbon fiber. Everything else is the same. RGB lighting, automatic steering
same. RGB lighting, automatic steering wheel. Doesn't look any different
wheel. Doesn't look any different between a [music] premium. No change
there. Here's where the differences occur. When I sit in the performance, my
occur. When I sit in the performance, my eye level is so much higher. [music]
It's like here versus the premiums where I'm a little bit lower. And you notice the difference coming from both cars.
And I was like, how did that happen? And
I realized it's because of the new performance seats. These are beautiful.
performance seats. These are beautiful.
First off, all new headrest, fixed headrest. [music] It's comfortable. I
headrest. [music] It's comfortable. I
like it. Performance badging. You have
all new stitching here. A little grippy.
It's all black. It's great. Extended
bolsters to kind of hug you in those curves. [music] Goes all across here.
curves. [music] Goes all across here.
Heated and ventilated. But the best and newest feature is an extendable thigh bolster. But aside from that, Monoy
bolster. But aside from that, Monoy performance, Moni Premiums is [music] the exact same. So
yeah, has the exact same speakers, exact same sound system. One difference, and again this is standard now in the premiums, QHD 16in screen, less bezels, and that allows you to have more screen
surface area. You have a higher
surface area. You have a higher definition screen. Nothing crazy. You
definition screen. Nothing crazy. You
don't really notice a huge difference, but it is a different update screen.
Now, in the performance, same head space, leg space is a little bit less because of these all new seat. The back
piece kind of sticks out. So, you lose a couple features actually. You don't have a seat back pocket here. You still get that recline carbon fiber piece here as well, but other than that, exact same vehicle as the premiums. And now we move
on to the Model Y L. And there's already so many differences. Now, the thing a lot of people don't talk about is insurance. And one website you can use
insurance. And one website you can use that's kind of like a broker for finding the cheapest prices for car insurance is Savemax Auto, which is today's sponsor.
Before you automatically add a new car to your existing insurance policy, it's worth comparing what other companies would charge. Savemax Auto is a free
would charge. Savemax Auto is a free auto insurance comparison platform that helps you shop personalized quotes from more than 100 carrier partners, including names like Geico, Progressive,
and All State. They don't want these random companies to have your personal data, so they make sure they don't spam you with emails or calls. You fill out one simple form about information about you, your car, and your driving habits.
SaveMax Auto then helps you match with coverage and pricing options available in your area. You can compare your choices, and if you find one you like, buy your policy online or even speak
with a licensed insurance representative over the phone. The site says it takes about 5 minutes to check, and SaveMax Auto doesn't charge you a fee to use it.
If you guys are interested in checking it out, you can use my link in the description. The first Tesla that I feel
description. The first Tesla that I feel like has the most premium sounding closing doors. And I think it's because
closing doors. And I think it's because of the extra seals they added. Listen.
First off, interior choices. They have
black. They also have a new Zen gray color, black headliner, standard, which is [music] great. Still have that metallic tint glass roof, dual pane in the front and the rears as well. RGB
lighting. You have cloth here, metal speaker grill. However, this is all new
speaker grill. However, this is all new in the Zen [music] gray. It has kind of like a suede look to it. This one is Alcantara, so it does have a more premium feel. The dashboard also has
premium feel. The dashboard also has that Alcantara look. Really nice as well. RGB [music] lighting, ventless air
well. RGB [music] lighting, ventless air vents, wireless charger. Same, same,
same same. It all seems the same, right?
You all it's the same car. But then we come to the seats. You think it looks like the performance seats, but they're not. You get an adjustable headrest,
not. You get an adjustable headrest, clutch. Everyday Gen has it down here. I
clutch. Everyday Gen has it down here. I
have it all the way up here cuz I'm tall. like the performance seats. You
tall. like the performance seats. You
have the bolsters here, but they're not so hefty and thick. It's a lot softer.
This is going to be comfortable for more people. It's a lot of people don't like
people. It's a lot of people don't like the bolsters in the performance. They're
a little too stiff, too rigid. This
one's soft. It's cozy. It's comfy. It's
nice. Heated and ventilated as well. But
they kept one of the performance features, which [music] is what I love.
Extendable thigh bolster. I like it a lot. Just like the premiums. When I sit,
lot. Just like the premiums. When I sit, my eye level is here. So, it's lower.
There's no real difference. Like it
doesn't feel like a Model X where it feels like bigger [music] and taller on this side. It's all the same here.
this side. It's all the same here.
Here's the difference where all that extra money you spend actually matters in a Tesla Model Y L. The second row.
Now, one difference with the Model Y L versus all the other Teslas is they opened up this piece here. So, it's a lot wider. So, getting in and out is so
lot wider. So, getting in and out is so much easier because it's completely straight. Another thing they focused on
straight. Another thing they focused on was they wanted to be as quiet as possible. They added another seal there.
possible. They added another seal there.
67 mph, 62 dBs. Not bad. All the way across for the Model Y L. Something you
don't find in the premiums. Captain's chairs, adjustable, so all automatic.
You can go all the way as far back as you want. When I go all the way back, so
you want. When I go all the way back, so much leg space. You can recline.
And apparently, you could really recline.
No, that's the only recline you could do. I thought it would be like legit
do. I thought it would be like legit recline. So much head space. this much
recline. So much head space. this much
head space. Seat back pocket here. You
also have heated and ventilated seats in the second row, adjustable headrests here. So, they took the seats from the
here. So, they took the seats from the first row, smacked it into the second row. You think that, right? No, they
row. You think that, right? No, they
didn't. They added way more elbow support here, but it's automatic. Push
this button, automatically comes up. Or you want to adjust the height, you just do it. They
improve the climate. And they added way more stuff. This whole piece is all new
more stuff. This whole piece is all new for the Model Y. Not only does it give you a little bit of extra shoulder space in the front because it curves in, you get air vents and it's all soft plastic,
it's nothing hard. They did a great job with the Model Y. You also have, of course, just like the other Teslas, the premium, the performance, LED lighting, adjustable, and you have coat hood hangers in the center here. You still
have that center [music] display with the airless air vents that you could adjust the C ports, but you have cup holders here now, which is awesome. The
Model Y L 19 speakers, new speakers. I
want to steal this speaker and put in my car. Is that Can I do that? Will Tesla
car. Is that Can I do that? Will Tesla
find out if I stole this speaker? Man,
one thing you can do with the Model Y, you can completely lower the seat if you wanted to, but that's all it does. It's
not like the Model X which kind of it goes up so you can gain access to the third row easier, but the third row is great in the Model Y. Let's check it out. Now, I am a little bit on the hefty
out. Now, I am a little bit on the hefty side. I ate a big munch.
side. I ate a big munch.
Okay. Okay. That's not going to I like how you could put the elbow rest down so I have a little bit more space to get in and out. Bit more here.
and out. Bit more here.
Back here.
So getting in and out as in a fulls size adult male is not the easiest in the third row. However, once I'm back here,
third row. However, once I'm back here, my knee is touching and smashed against the seat here. But I can always extend my leg out like this, and it is much more comfortable, which is nice. I like
that. You have real air vents in the third [music] row now. So, they work.
They're real air vents. This window is actually bigger. So, it's a bigger
actually bigger. So, it's a bigger window. It's also tempered. I think it
window. It's also tempered. I think it sounds quieter, which means you're going to get less road noise. You have
switches here to automatically recline the seats, [music] too. And when I'm all the way recline back, my head is jammed.
But when I'm forward like this, my head is not touching, and I have this much head space. It's [music] nice. You have
head space. It's [music] nice. You have
cup holders, elbow support, USBC ports.
Very comfortable. Back here. They have a new rear comfort mode which makes it so if you go over big bumps it kind of levels it out better so it's a little bit more comfortable for the third row and second row. But overall not too bad.
Now the real question is trunk space.
Right? We have all these six people and how's the trunk? Let's [music] check it out. Okay. My big clown feet
out. Okay. My big clown feet and then getting out of this thing is
so tough. Oh yeah. Okay. All the Model
so tough. Oh yeah. Okay. All the Model Y's have the same trunk motors, powered trunk motors, so it opens and closes easier.
Holy, this is Okay, if you guys own the Y L, be careful. The hatch height seems way higher than the normal premium wise.
That is like all the way up there. But
here's the cool thing. All the trunk heights are adjustable. Find the height that you want. Hold.
It's going to chime but go to the screen and it'll save that height at the location too even which is awesome. Surprisingly, the trunk is
awesome. Surprisingly, the trunk is almost identical across the cheapest Model Y premium and performance. Same
size, same storage compartments, two sub trunks, and enough room for four pieces of luggage. Now, the Model Y standard is
of luggage. Now, the Model Y standard is standard. You don't get a parcel shelf,
standard. You don't get a parcel shelf, although you can add one aftermarket, and you lose the automatic seat release switches. There's no way to lower the
switches. There's no way to lower the second row right here. So, if I try lowering the second row, it always smacks into the second row and I have to go adjust the first row and then go to the second row. [music]
Here, when you fold the seats down, there is a slight angle, but thankfully there are no awkward gaps or holes.
It is more comfortable here cuz it's fully flat. So, with the [music]
fully flat. So, with the [music] mattress, you can actually sleep pretty comfortably, assuming you're not too tall.
My feet are sticking out much more than the Model Y. The beauty with Premium's performances is that they have switches here where you can lower all the seats.
And if the front seats are too far back, they'll automatically move forward to make room for the second row to fold flat, then move right back to where they were. But the Wild takes it a step
were. But the Wild takes it a step further. You get the same feature for
further. You get the same feature for both the second and third rows. But now
we're in the Model Y and there's already a lot of differences, right? You still
have a ton of cubby space on the sides here. You also have grocery hooks here
here. You also have grocery hooks here if you want to store your groceries there. Still have a 12vt [music] outlet.
there. Still have a 12vt [music] outlet.
However, because we have the third row, you don't have a secondary sub trunk, but you do still have a nice deep sub trunk [music] with magnetic latches. So,
it could stay open like this.
[sighs and gasps] However, one thing you can notice have a new design glass now in the Y L. So,
it's more circular. Look at all the space you have on the inside of the vehicle. Still so much space to load
vehicle. Still so much space to load stuff up versus the older ones, which is kind of like a flatter shape here. So,
that's why you can't really load stuff up this way because it's just flat. So,
now that the seats lowered, look at this little gap that we have here. But, they
thought of that. So, they have these like plastic pieces that you lift up, but now it just makes it a little bit more flat. So, I camped here overnight
more flat. So, I camped here overnight with my wife, my golden retriever, and Pomeranian. because it's longer. You
Pomeranian. because it's longer. You
would think that it would be more comfortable to sleep in. And overall, it is more comfortable. However, one thing I realized is the way that these second row seats, it's kind of molded [music]
like this. This slopes down. So, if I
like this. This slopes down. So, if I can't put my pillow here, and when it's molded like this, it means that when you put a mattress or a pillow, [music] it's going to sink down. So, when it does sink down, I can't use that. Obviously,
no one wants to sleep with their neck in hyperextension. So, I end up having to
hyperextension. So, I end up having to sleep [music] further back.
Have to sleep at an angle again. So,
just like the Model Y premiums, I would have to move my body at an angle.
It's so uncomfortable.
Something to keep in mind, something I didn't realize until we actually camped in it. But yeah, I thought it would be
in it. But yeah, I thought it would be the best camping vehicle, but I don't think it still is just for a tall person. If you're a normal size person,
person. If you're a normal size person, I think it's great cuz a lot of people want to know. I just want the Model Y L for the increased space. In that case, yes, I do recommend the Model Y L for sure because you [music] have way more space. But the biggest difference
space. But the biggest difference between the Model Y's isn't just the interior. It's what happens when you get
interior. It's what happens when you get behind the wheel. Now, the Model Y standard rear wheel drive 0 to 60 in 6.8 seconds.
Handling is decent, but not as good as the normal all-wheel drive. But now they have an all-wheel drive version. You get
0 to 60 4.6. Definitely a huge difference just in terms of speed and cornering because you have all-wheel drive. You have better traction. But is
drive. You have better traction. But is
it worth the $2,000 upgrade to go from rear wheel drive to all-wheel drive? I
don't know. But overall, this car drives great. It has a fixed suspension.
great. It has a fixed suspension.
Not bad. It's not as soft as the Model Y premiums. It is a little bit rougher, but it's noticeably rougher, and it's not as rough as the OG Tesla Model Y's.
I drove this thing. I was very comfortable with it. I have no complaints. Now, the Model Y premiums,
complaints. Now, the Model Y premiums, it's a great daily driver. You can
choose between rear wheel drive and all-wheel drive, [music] which gives you a 0 to 60 time of 5.4 versus 4.6 seconds. If you've driven an older Tesla
seconds. If you've driven an older Tesla Model Y, it feels like you're like on a Jeep. Brace yourself.
Jeep. Brace yourself.
The suspension is much improved. 8 mph.
Ooh, that's smooth. Good handling.
[music] Does a great job. I think it's a solid vehicle for most people. But if
you're like me and want the feeling of a sports car without giving up the practicality of an SUV, [music] the Model Y performance the one to get. 060
3.3 seconds. You want to turn up.
THIS is insane.
Woo! And it's so much fun. The handling
is amazing. But then if I just want to not even worry about it, just push a button and I'm on full self-driving [music] just like that. You can adjust the ride comfort from standard and
sport, but it's not overly aggressive, overly bumpy. Slightly softer than a
overly bumpy. Slightly softer than a Macan EV, [music] I would have to say.
Again, if you want a sports vehicle, though, get a Model 3 Performance or something else. smells like rubber.
something else. smells like rubber.
There's no track mode on this thing, which I don't really care about. I'll
never take it to the track, but overall very, very comfortable. Love the
vehicle.
But the Moto Y, it's bigger than the rest, so you'd expect it to drive worse, right?
Launch Series 0 to 60, 4.2 seconds, which is fast for something that's longer heavier taller.
Oh, yeah. Held well. Doesn't feel like a longer vehicle. And then the
longer vehicle. And then the acceleration boost. This thing is so
acceleration boost. This thing is so fast. It is very similar to the monitor
fast. It is very similar to the monitor performance as adaptive dampeners. No
air suspension any of these models, but the adaptive dampeners allow you to have something called balance mode or rear comfort mode if you want to prioritize the comfort in the third row and second row. So, when you go over speed bumps,
row. So, when you go over speed bumps, it looks like this. The problem with the model, only problem is that it has a longer wheelbase. So, making U-turns is
longer wheelbase. So, making U-turns is a little bit more difficult. Here we go.
Oh, definitely three lanes.
However maneuverability driving dynamics, everything else is amazing.
We're going to talk about something that [music] I feel like nobody talks about or thinks about until they actually own a Tesla, which is wheels and tires.
Now, standards come with the 18 or 19 in. These are the 18 in. Keep the 18 in.
in. These are the 18 in. Keep the 18 in.
Don't go with the 19s. You don't need to decrease your range even further. 18 in
look great, work well, highly recommended. Also, tire sizes are the
recommended. Also, tire sizes are the same in the front and the back. Coming
to the premiums, 19s or 20s. These are
the 19s. Keep the 19s. Don't go with the 20s. The 20s have all these holes in
20s. The 20s have all these holes in them and it reduces your range like crazy. You could actually move the cover
crazy. You could actually move the cover of the 19s.
Okay, there we go. Be careful. Put some
black lug nut covers on there. It
actually looks really good. I highly
recommend doing that if you still want a cooler, sportier Tesla Model Y look while you drop off your kids at soccer camp. Tires in the front kies, same
camp. Tires in the front kies, same thing as the rear size. Same tire sizes.
It's a good thing you go to America's tires, you rotate them, the tires last much longer. But then we come to the
much longer. But then we come to the Model Y performance in a whopping 21in wheel. You can see that there's some
wheel. You can see that there's some covers on here. So, there's a cover here, cover here, cover here, cover here, red brake calipers in there. But
because it's a 21 in, because we have those holes, it does decrease your range. However, one caveat, the front
range. However, one caveat, the front and rear tires are not the same size.
Now, I've been driving this bad boy for around 1,300 miles now. I've been
ripping it a little bit here and there because I mean, it's so much fun. Why
not? And if you guys didn't know, one thing you can use is a penny. You can
kind of already see we have some wear.
There's no way this is going to last like 20, 30,000 miles, maybe 15, but that is insane. And some people argue you could cross rotate, but I talked to a bunch of tire people and
they all say it's not worth it. The
problem with that is that you're going to go ahead and decrease the life of your tires because you can't rotate them. You're going to be buying tires
them. You're going to be buying tires more often. But the pro is you have
more often. But the pro is you have better traction, better handling because the tires in the back are wider. And
then we move on to the family SUV, the Model Y L. Now the Model Y L already they changed it up. These are 20 in. And
look, this is the only hole you could finger.
Everything else is closed up. So for the first time ever, going with bigger rims is not going to dramatically decrease your range. It's only a 5 mile
your range. It's only a 5 mile difference going from the 19s to the 20s. The 19s look great though. Comfier
20s. The 19s look great though. Comfier
ride. So, if the Model Y L is like, I want it just to be a family vehicle. I
don't care about anything else. Go with
the 19s. However, because you're having more weight in the back, six people, they still want it also to have good performance as well, good handling. So,
again, you are going to decrease the life of your tires quicker. So, keep
that in mind. Now, all these Teslas are supported with Tesla Supercharging. 160
mi in 15 minutes, which is very good considering when you go to the premiums, 169 mi in [music] 15 minutes. Even a
little better. When we come to the Model Y performance, and for some reason, I still don't know, 144 mi in 15 minutes.
So, not the best charging curve, not a good road trip vehicle, but something to keep in mind that even though it should be charging at 250 kW, I thought it was because it's [music] a different battery
type, that's why it's a lower charge.
However, the Model Y L is also a different battery type and it's also a bigger battery, but you can charge 15 minutes, 164 miles, so very, very good overall. No matter [music] what, you're
overall. No matter [music] what, you're in the clear charging wise, except for my favorite vehicle, the Model Y performance. But [music] the Model Y
performance. But [music] the Model Y performance and the Model Y L were the only two vehicles to have vehicle to load where you can charge another
electric vehicle. You can power your
electric vehicle. You can power your hair dryer. You can power your Ninja
hair dryer. You can power your Ninja Slushie.
Oh yeah.
Because they just released an update where some of the premiums can [music] now use vehicle to load and use an outlet. But since mine is a OG premium,
outlet. But since mine is a OG premium, the launch series, I want to see if it's compatible or not. Let's check.
not lighting up. It does not work unless there's a software update that needs to be pushed to my vehicle. Premiums launch
series edition for right now doesn't work. Now, after driving all these
work. Now, after driving all these vehicles, they all have something different to offer, right? However,
there are issues. First off, the standard all-wheel drive is the first Tesla to have less than 300 mile 294 miles at 100%. You should not be charging your Tesla to 100%. It should
be 80% and after a few months battery degradation, you're going to have less miles regardless. So, even though it's
miles regardless. So, even though it's like a $2,000 upgrade, it doesn't seem that much. I don't recommend the Model Y
that much. I don't recommend the Model Y standard all-wheel drive. The rear wheel drive is great. It works well. Use that
$2,000 on full self-driving. But what
about the sound? Because these four don't all sound the same. Sound test
with the Model Y standard. It comes with nine speakers [music] to save on cost.
But already with the EQ at least, there's less presets. There's only one, two, three, four. However, surprisingly,
they still did a great job. Like, I'll
let you hear the mono wise standard, then we'll go into the premium. So, you
hear the premium [music] like on flat cuz this is how you know a good sound system is how it is on flat.
[music] I don't know how they did it, but the standard sound system is amazing. They
don't have an actual sub anymore, but the woofers provide plenty of bass.
[music] It sounds so good. Good job,
Tesla, on the Model Y standard sound system. The Model Y premium and the
system. The Model Y premium and the performance has 16 speakers, but how well does it sound?
[music] Teslas always have amazing sound systems. I found that the Model A premiums are a little bit on the brighter [music] side, so I have to lower the treble a little bit. Now, I've
personally owned a Tesla Model [music] X, personally own the Tesla Cybertruck.
Cybertruck had one of the best sound systems in any vehicle I've ever been in, and I thought that was it. The Model
Y L 19 [music] speakers, new speakers, it sounds so good. They have a new thing called immersive sound X. Don't believe
me? [music]
And it sounds so good. I don't know how they did it. I feel like I'm at the concert. Taylor Swift concert. Sounds so
concert. Taylor Swift concert. Sounds so
good. But all these Teslas include a 4year or 50,000mi basic warranty. The
Model Y standard receives an 8year or 100,000 mi battery warranty. and all the rest of the Tesla Model Y models extends that battery warranty to 120,000 miles.
But after driving all these vehicles, the Model Y L, the Model Y performance premiums, I own both of these two and the Model Y standard, here's my thought, and I'm also curious to see what ever
Jan's going to say. If your goal is commuting, if you just want to like, I just want a car that I could drive from point A to point B. I have more utility.
I could take stuff with me. Easier
Costco trips. Model Y standard rearwheel drive. All these Teslas come with the
drive. All these Teslas come with the same tech. Same full self-driving.
same tech. Same full self-driving.
Sentry mode. Amazing [music] app. The
best software in any car company ever. I
don't know about China, but in the US at least, it's the best.
I'm a little down in the dumps. The
weather's bad. I mean, what do I do?
Get some natural light if you can.
Has good miles. Fast enough. Charges
well. Model Y standard. Rear wheel drive is a little bit slower, but once you're on the freeways, you get that instant torque no matter what. So, it doesn't feel like a very slow vehicle. There are
homes, eight to$9 million homes like up the hill up there somewhere. I mean, I feel like it's a different zip code, a whole another world. Sometimes I walk there so I could feel like, oh wow, this is what it's like to be rich. Even they
have Model Y standards and a Model Y stands right there. So, what does that tell you? It's a good value. [music]
tell you? It's a good value. [music]
It's a good daily driver. It's a good car and it's safe. The premiums gives you a little more features. you know,
the heated seats, the automatic rear folding seats, miles, quicker speed. I
love my premium all-wheel drive. I think
it's a great car. This would be the one for most people. [music]
If you just started a family, have one kid, maybe two kids, Model Y premium rearwheel drive is a good choice. No
need to get the all-wheel drive unless you want a little bit faster speed, a little bit better handling, but I do recommend it if you are in an area with bad weather. The performance is the car
bad weather. The performance is the car that nobody should need unless you have money to waste and everyday Jan.
Hopefully you didn't hear that. My wife,
it's a car that I love to drive. I love
this car. I love everything about the vehicle. I love being able to go next to
vehicle. I love being able to go next to like a Lambo Urus and be like, I could almost beat you. I think a Lambo Urus does 06 and like 2.5. What is that?
Pikachu.
What?
Pikachu dabbing. Damn. But 3.3, not bad.
The Model Y L, it's a great vehicle. The
Model Y L. I think the Model Y is solid if you're saying, you know what, the Model Y premiums are nice, but I want a little bit more space, a little bit more practicality usage in case people are
over. I want to have that extra seat in
over. I want to have that extra seat in case I need to. Model Y is great in all aspects, and I cannot stop with that sound system. It is the best sound
sound system. It is the best sound system ever. If I had to choose
system ever. If I had to choose personally, of course, I chose already.
I chose the Model Y performance, my PP, baby. And what does PP stand for? Pepe
baby. And what does PP stand for? Pepe
performance. But in second place, if I didn't get the Rivian R2, I for sure would have gotten the Model Y. But
that's my answer. Everyday Jen, if you could choose one Tesla only, which one did you choose and why? Actually,
you're the practical woman in your normal size. I choose the premium rear
normal size. I choose the premium rear wheel drive because it has the most miles. 357 miles and I'm on FSD like 95%
miles. 357 miles and I'm on FSD like 95% of the time anyways. But I need the HEPA filter, the waterproof frunk, the automatic seats folding down because
when you go to Costco, that really helps a lot. So, premium
rear wheel drive for me.
Which one will you choose? See you guys later.
And today I'll show you which Tesla version you should actually buy. I just
realized I talked I should be talking more and more and more and then now I'm here. These are a lot of cars. Just took
here. These are a lot of cars. Just took
us forever to get these.
