This is the Sound Core Nebula P1, a tiny projector that runs Google TV with an incredible design that even has a built-in adjustable stand that can flip

the entire unit down and protect it in the shell for ultimate portability. But

if you think that's cool, the top detaches, splits in half, and gives you dual satellite speakers that work

completely wirelessly for the best sound stage experience I've ever tried in a projector this size. Now, if that doesn't blow you away, then I'm not sure

what will. Now, in my opinion, this

what will. Now, in my opinion, this solves one of the biggest problems with small form factor projectors, and that's the sound. Often projectors of this size

the sound. Often projectors of this size aren't able to put out great sound because they try and fit too much into the small body that it has. And because

of that, often the speaker size and capability has been sacrificed. And even

when they've been able to fit great sound into the form factor, like with the Capsule series, as an example, it's still not a particularly immersive sound experience because it originates all

from one location, and there's only so much that the software can do to try and create a more impressive and immersive sound stage. Because the P1 is now in a

sound stage. Because the P1 is now in a form factor that allows separate positioning of the speakers, it can easily outclass the sound of many

projectors with internal speakers.

Simply put, this design makes it sound better. And by better, I mean a million

better. And by better, I mean a million miles better.

>> [music] [music] >> From a performance perspective, They form a sort of sound bar by letting you place the speakers directly in front of

you whilst the projector sits in a different location. However, these are

different location. However, these are objectively better than a soundbar because you can spread them far apart or further than you normally would with a fixed bar system. And it means that

you're coming closer to a surround sound experience with much more directional audio coming from the front left and front right rather than just both directly in front of you like

traditional bars. Now the sound is that

traditional bars. Now the sound is that signaturerich and detailed quality that Soundcore are known for. And the audio is absolutely room filling despite the

satellite speakers being relatively small. Small but dense little things.

small. Small but dense little things.

But it's this form factor that makes the experience what it is phenomenal. Now,

they're both 10 watt speakers combining for a total of 20 W sound output, which is more than enough for situations where you'll be using these. Of course, you don't have to use them as satellite

speakers. You are able to use them as

speakers. You are able to use them as they are attached to the body as well if you haven't got suitable space to place them, but they sound objectively better when placing them properly. The thing

is, the whole beauty of these that there's no real setup process either.

It's literally a case of just popping them off the top, placing them where you want, and they're already on, already paired, and already playing that

incredible audio. Now, obviously,

incredible audio. Now, obviously, because these are wirefree, they have an internal battery, which will vary in duration depending on how loud you run them and the type of content that you're

using on them. But to charge them, all you have to do is snap them together like that. And then pop them back on the

like that. And then pop them back on the top, which is magnetic, and then it charges through these pogo pins on the top automatically like that. Providing that the projector

like that. Providing that the projector is plugged in. However, because the projector itself doesn't have an internal battery, which is slightly odd

given that its form factor is an ultra portable device, it's not a massive deal, but it would have been nice.

Although that said, to have a battery big enough to power this for an entire film would ultimately have resulted in a bigger and heavier build, making it much

less portable. As [snorts] a side note,

less portable. As [snorts] a side note, this thing isn't actually that heavy when you're lugging it around. In total,

it weighs about the same as a large bag of sugar, which for a projector is nothing at all really. And incidentally,

the speakers aren't going to pop off the top if you are carrying this around, you are swinging it about because they remain in place with the lock on the top. And although they do move slightly

top. And although they do move slightly when picking it up a little bit, I don't think they're going to come off. that

locking mechanism really does seem to have them stuck in. Do you know? I love

everything about this device from a design perspective. It's just as genius

design perspective. It's just as genius as the X1 Pro we tested a few months ago, which had equally as innovative design choices, such as the speakers that unfilled like the wings of an

angel, which could then be detached and placed around you to make a surround sound system very much like this one.

But this is in a much smaller form factor. I mean, you're hardly going to

factor. I mean, you're hardly going to fit the X1 Pro into your Rockstack, are you? this one you could, but the design

you? this one you could, but the design is all very well and good, but it absolutely means nothing if the actual projection quality doesn't keep up with the pace of the rest of the experience.

Well, from my perspective, I think it does. I mean, it's obviously got some

does. I mean, it's obviously got some emissions and things they've had to cut back on to make it such a small form factor like this, such as the lack of battery for one, but also the projection

quality is only 1080p. I say only, but then again, the projection quality is stunning. And for the size that you're

stunning. And for the size that you're projecting at, you're unlikely to notice at all because the image is crisp and smooth. And with a brightness of 650

smooth. And with a brightness of 650 ANSI lumens, it's enough to throw some punches even against larger and more expensive projectors and even environments that aren't completely

dark. We tried it in a room with a gray

dark. We tried it in a room with a gray day and were extremely surprised that it was very, very watchable indeed.

Interestingly, as it's a particularly small unit, they've not been able to fit the liquid cooling system that we saw in the X1, which is a bit of a shame, but instead the optical engine is encased in

an all metal body to help with the cooling. It's unfortunately a factor of

cooling. It's unfortunately a factor of the size, but at least they've added a passive cooling through the metal body design and the presence of a fan inside that expels the heat generated through

the large exhaust on the rear of the projector. Now, incidentally, we

projector. Now, incidentally, we measured the sound of this fan, and you couldn't actually get it to record on the decibelometer or whatever it's called. It just wasn't reading. It was

called. It just wasn't reading. It was

that quiet.

>> Testing 1, two, 3. Testing 1, two, 3.

So, it's very, very quiet, even though it does have a fan inside. And it makes this projector quite a genius design.

Now, I've said before that one of the things that gets projectors a higher mark from me is when they've got in a built-in gimbal to allow positioning without having to fuff around with a

tripod to get the positioning right, which nobody on earth likes to do. I'm

sure there's some sicko that does, but this included gimbal gives the projector some incredible flexibility and allowing it to tilt within a wide range of movement, but also doubles up, as I said

earlier, in offering it some protection when you're in transit. Just flipping it down to the body and keeping it away from things in your rucks sack like that ridiculous ball of keys, which you no

longer know what 90% of them open.

But putting it all away makes it very, very portable indeed. And once it's all packed away, it's even got a dainty little carry handle if you didn't want to put it in your rock sack, so you can

carry it around with you like you're some sort of haunted Victorian boy or something.

Now, this tilting gimbal isn't the only method of adjustment because this device has a ton of digital adjustment that it does automatically to give you the best

picture possible using their AA4.0 technology. Interestingly, it doesn't

technology. Interestingly, it doesn't have quite the same inbuilt sensors that the X1 Pro has. So to make up for that, you can pair your phone to the device and use your phone's camera to

automatically adjust for obstacles and screen space, whilst the device itself will allow basic automatic keystone adjustments when moved by itself. So

it's quite a unique way of getting around leaving those sensors out of this model to keep it a small form factor.

There is some limitation when it comes to the adjustment as it's only a digital adaption. So you will lose some

adaption. So you will lose some resolution capability if you have to shrink the image to fit too much. And

with this particular model, you won't want to lose too much of that resolution cuz as I mentioned, it projects in 1080p quality, which is mostly noticeable on larger projection screens. So let's take

it outside and have a closer look at that projection quality on a larger screen.

Boo. That behind me is projecting around 150 in and it's doing really well considering it's 1080p and coming from a body that's pretty small. It's a couple

of cans of Monster that you shouldn't drink. Monster's bad for you.

drink. Monster's bad for you.

But then again, I drink quite a lot of beer. That's also quite bad for me.

beer. That's also quite bad for me.

Anyway, I think that this does extremely well. I've always said that you're more

well. I've always said that you're more likely to watch something that sounds incredible but might not be as good a quality than something that looks like

it's been filmed on a cinema red camera but then sounds like it's been recorded on a beach towel and then being played back on a gramophone. So this although

it's 1080p I don't think really matters because the quality it manages to output even at this size is phenomenal. Just

look at the colors and the pop. And as

well, considering it's only an LED projector and not a laser projector, which you know, I love laser projectors.

But again, this is another thing and another reason why it's so small is because they've been able to utilize technology like LED and create a smaller package. But outdoors here in the dark,

package. But outdoors here in the dark, this I think is where it excels the most. The colors are vibrant, the image

most. The colors are vibrant, the image is sharp, and the sound, because I'm outside, I can crank it right up, and it sounds phenomenal out here. I don't know if you can tell, but I've got the

speakers down there either side of the big screen, and I'm sat just down here while I'm listening to it and watching what's on there. And my god, it is incredible.

I better get back to it. Oh god, is that how I look on camera with this underneath?

Spooky.

>> It is amazing how they've managed to fit all of this technology into a product this size. And the ingenuity that's gone

this size. And the ingenuity that's gone in to make it work is absolutely astounding. And actually, I'd normally

astounding. And actually, I'd normally say at this point that it's not all roses and ice cream. And then I talk about something bad that it has. But

this is a rare time you'll find me saying that this is a nearperfect product. It performs exactly as I

product. It performs exactly as I expected a Soundcore Nebula product to perform exceptionally.

The only thing I can really think of as a critical point, and this is a rather superficial comment, is that once you've got it all folded down and the speakers locked on, there's nowhere for the

remote to go. It would have been great to have had a little slot to hide it in and that way it would have meant the only extra thing you'd have to carry is the power cable separately. Of course,

the remote isn't necessarily needed. You

can always connect your phone and control it through that once you've gone through the initial setup phase, which you're likely to have done because you'll want that better IEA technology

that pairing it with your phone gives.

There's that. and then having to store the remote on the body would mean sacrificing either room on the device but lowering the quality of hardware or alternatively having a bigger unit. So

you can understand why they've not added a little hidey-hole for the controller.

Maybe the only other thing on my wish list would have been an included sock to slip over the device so that if I'm putting it in my rrook sack, it doesn't get scratched from lugging it around. I

guess I'll have to use one of my old socks instead.

>> [screaming] >> But those are really the only things that I thought could have been better.

And those are very superficial comments indeed. Anything else, I think they've

indeed. Anything else, I think they've really hit the nail on the head perfectly and managed to make a really good balance between size, cost, and

functionality. Sure, it's not 4K, but

functionality. Sure, it's not 4K, but then it's also a relatively small unit, and for me, it's not the picture that stands out on this. There's plenty of

more expensive projectors with pictures so dazzling that your eyes will be burnt out, like the X1 and X1 Pro as an example. And then there's plenty of

example. And then there's plenty of portable projectors across the industry with similar levels of projection quality, but absolutely none I've tried have had as good a sound as this

particular device thanks to this form factor. So although the picture quality

factor. So although the picture quality might not stand too far apart from the rest of the industry, the sound experience puts this up a league table.

And if you want great picture and great sound in an ultra portable form factor, this is pretty much the only projector I could recommend right now. Soundcore

have yet again knocked it out of the park with the P1. And since their merger with Nebula, it's had an unbelievably positive impact on the design, form factor, and functionality of the

projectors produced from Anker. This is

admittedly only the second product I've tried from the newly amalgamated Soundcore and Nebula brands, but they've managed once again to delight me by

bringing some of those ingenuity and innovations we saw from the X1 Pro and putting that into not just their top of the range product, but their smaller portable form factor products as well.

Honestly, if they keep up this incredible innovation and momentum, they are very quickly going to become the only option for home theater and portable theater setups from their

technology. Now, as a disclaimer, this

technology. Now, as a disclaimer, this has been a prototype that I've been testing out prior to the actual launch.

So, some of the experience may be slightly different that you'll get, but for the most part, my experience should be indicative of the final one that will arrive in people's hands. I believe the

product is now launched though and they're running a bunch of rather attractive early bird offers on their website. And although this is not the

website. And although this is not the cheapest small form factor projector I've ever used, I would strongly suggest that if this is even slightly tickling your pickle, go and take a look at that link below or the QR code here if you're

watching on TV or a projector to find out the latest price and what offers they've got on it because you're unlikely to be able to get a better deal than its launch pricing discount. But I

would say that this product represents the peak of small form factor portable projectors. If you're looking for the

projectors. If you're looking for the best overall experience in an ultra small size, I genuinely haven't tried better.
