Inside the Massive NEW Flying Sparks Garage Shop! (8,000 Sq Ft Tour) | PEAK Auto
By PEAK Auto
Summary
## Key takeaways - **7x Space Jump From 1,100 to 8,000 Sq Ft**: Flying Sparks started in a 40x40 (1,100 sq ft) garage and just moved into an 8,000 sq ft building — a roughly 7x expansion to finally escape constantly shuffling projects with a tractor. [07:05] - **Old Peterbilts Beat New Pickups**: They chose old Peterbilts over new pickups because pickups 'depreciate' and 'wear out' when you're putting a ton of miles on them — Aaron's 18-wheeler background means they can tow hard without strain. [02:16] - **1953 Peterbilt Resurrected After 40 Years**: Their newest Peterbilt is a 1953 model that 'was sitting in a field for 40 years' and they just test drove it for the first time this week. [03:06] - **Paused Diesel Boat Swap for Revenue**: They built a Duramax engine for their 2855 Sierra Bayliner 'Stellar Views' but had to shelve the diesel swap project because truck videos generate more revenue — 'YouTube is a business.' [04:46], [05:02] - **Four-Post Lifts Solve Dead-Battery Problem**: They plan to install glass garage doors and four-post lifts specifically to stack runner cars on trickle chargers, so dead batteries stop killing vehicles that just sit around. [06:28], [06:37] - **Building Is a Retirement Asset**: Even though 'Emily and I will never retire,' they're buying commercial real estate as an asset that 'could be leased out and help us retire' if they ever want to pivot. This is a very specialized deal.
Yes.
Not many people have done this.
Get an idea of the scope of how big this building is. That's a 13-ft tall
building is. That's a 13-ft tall Peterbilt and that's a Peterbilt.
They're both about 27-ft long. They
don't look that big in here.
Well, good morning and welcome to the new Flying Sparks Garage. We're really
excited to take you around. We don't
actually own it yet, but it's in the works and we've got big plans. We've
been working real hard to make money to buy this thing. So, we're excited to show you. Come on in.
show you. Come on in.
Got the girls out front. Roxy, the Z car doesn't have a name yet. We've been
working real hard to think of a name, but our cars kind of earn their names.
[music] They got to have a vibe, you know? And this one we just love. It's It
know? And this one we just love. It's It
was a dream car of ours. And that's Z R want to be. She is raggedy, but we love her.
We wrapped that car like 3 years ago and we we we [music] thought we hated the wrap then. Now we really hate it cuz it
wrap then. Now we really hate it cuz it is crazy raggedy.
We can talk about that later.
Come on in. This makes us feel super legit because it's like a a nice [music] office. We have our little Flying Sparks
office. We have our little Flying Sparks sign and this old like I don't know what it is, if it's like a milling [music] table or something, but we moved it in here and put a piece of glass on it cuz
I love it.
I didn't want just like a normal [music] table, you know? I wanted something cool. And it's pretty dang cool.
cool. And it's pretty dang cool.
So, this is the vibe.
And here is Maverick and Goose. They're
being really good boys. Hi dudes. Hi.
I know. We have company.
So, let's go into the shop.
So, this is an 8,000-sq-ft building and [music] currently we are leasing to own it. So, it still has a lot of stuff in
it. So, it still has a lot of stuff in it from the guy that owns the place, [music] but it's going to eventually get cleansed of his stuff and just be all our stuff.
Yeah, our contract is up in May. We
leased it for a year, so in May we got to buy it or get out, and we're going to buy it.
We've got both of our Peterbilts in here, which [music] is so cool. The The
building's big enough to fit a couple of Petes. This is our first Peterbilt that
Petes. This is our first Peterbilt that we bought, March [music] of 2025.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Last year, right now.
Yeah, about a year ago we decided that new pickups are very expensive, and if we're going to buy it for the sole purpose of putting a ton of miles on it, it's not a very good idea. It's going to depreciate, you're going to wear it out.
So, because of my history in 18-wheelers, I was like, let's just buy an old Peterbilt, fix it up, we can tow with it, we'll never wear it out, we'll never even put a strain on it.
We did that, and we thought, you know, we're going to kind of do this on the side, just get it done, make some videos, and turns out people love watching the videos. So, now we have two Peterbilts.
I love working on these things because I did it my whole career, I'm fourth generation in that industry.
And so, when I come out here to shoot a video, I don't have any stress. Like, I'm not trying to read a manual, and then somewhat sound intelligent to explain it to my audience, because I'm learning it for the first time. With this stuff, I
just know what I'm doing, so I'm I'm just a lot more relaxed working on it.
This is our most recent Peterbilt, and it is a 1953 model, [music] and it is such a cool truck. And we actually just test drove it for the first time this week so it was sitting in a field for 40 years,
and it is now back with the living, so it's really cool. So, back here, this is a fab table we use a lot. This is a forklift we're going to be buying [music] from the owner of the building, cuz that thing is a game changer. So,
this back here, the building was added onto at some point, and [music] there's a whole back area.
So, this is a paint booth that has a drain in the floor. We can use it as a detail bay. [music] Right now it has our
detail bay. [music] Right now it has our nieces' K10, and we are doing an engine and transmission swap on this. We're just
kind of waiting for all the parts and components to come in [music] and that's going to be really fun. Um,
our niece, the kid, and [music] Chloe were editing that whole series. So, we
have one video out on it now and we're going to be doing a video series of actually doing the engine and transmission swap and then driving it and doing all the things. So, that'll
[music] be really fun.
And here's the back of Optimus Grime.
This is one of the coolest things on this truck. Take a look [music] at this.
this truck. Take a look [music] at this.
Looks like toolbox, right?
It's not.
It's a grill that is actually [music] quite used.
We use it all the time.
It's so cool.
Is that not awesome? And back [music] here is Stellar Views, which is our 2855 [music] Sierra Bayliner that we are in the process of diesel swapping. And if
[music] you watch our channel, then you know you're probably one of those people that's like, "When are you going to bring back the diesel swap boat?" Well,
we built the engine. It's right there.
It's a beautiful Duramax with gorgeous fleece head. It's got a lot of good
fleece head. It's got a lot of good parts on it. We just have to figure out all [music] of the the juju that's going to make that happen. Being that we have to have the
happen. Being that we have to have the throttle up at the helm and do all the things.
All that stuff's pretty well figured out, but YouTube is a business, like any other business. And because we stepped
other business. And because we stepped out and made this massive commitment to this building, the videos that we like to do, just kind of pet projects like this that they or may not get a lot of views, we kind of
had to put that stuff on pause.
So, because the trucks are doing so well and they're making more revenue, we're focusing on that so that we can finalize this building and then we can get all our projects in here and do the stuff we actually want to do. We want to do it
all, but we want to do some of the more little pet little fun projects.
This is a very specialized [music] deal. Not many people have done this.
deal. Not many people have done this.
So, it's not like something like Aaron was saying, he knows big trucks like the back of his hand.
We do not know Duramax swapping.
This is a lot of thinking and a lot of fabricating and kind of designing the build, and I just honestly haven't had time this last year.
Yeah. From here, you can see the backside of this ugly looking situation.
That is actually an upstairs [music] apartment. The big windows at the front
apartment. The big windows at the front of the building, um Stewart, owner of this building, has a whole bunch of those big beautiful picture windows.
[music] So, we want to buy some of those and just make that whole upper apartment [music] like windows where you can look down over the shop. It'd be badass.
Yeah. It would be cool, and it'd be really neat if we put like a studio up there and had somebody that come edit for us so Emily's not working all night every night. That'd be super cool up there.
night. That'd be super cool up there.
Okay, cool. I wouldn't know [music] what to do with spare time though, to be quite honest.
The dream for this area, I think what we're going to do is put big garage doors in these walls, probably glass, so they'll come down, [music] and then we're going to line this up with four-post lifts.
The reason we'll do that is we have gosh, how many cars that are runners that just sit around and the batteries go dead on them? A lot.
And we can stack the cars in here, have them on trickle chargers, have them clean. That would be the reason for the
clean. That would be the reason for the garage doors.
Keep that area nice.
That way when we want to drive a car, we just pull it off the lift and go drive it.
Can y'all tell we [music] need to replace these lights? Are they flashing for the camera?
Flashing for me.
They're like They're like a disco. This [music] is the disco room.
So, we started Flying Sparks in a 40 by 40 at I believe it was 1,100 square foot garage, and we've done most of our channel on there, built that. We've
obviously traveled a lot as well, but it's always been this process of if something's mid-project and you don't have a part and can't finish it, you got to load all the parts in it, drag it outside, use a tractor or something to push
another project in, and it's just it takes a lot of time. Like we're
trying to get a video out every week, it just takes a lot of time when you got to move stuff around, and you can't find anything cuz there's so much stuff in the shop. So, this is going to be a
the shop. So, this is going to be a massive expansion [music] and allows us to do our job a lot better. Getting an
idea of the scope of how big this building is. That's a 13-ft tall
building is. That's a 13-ft tall Peterbilt. They're both about 27-ft long
Peterbilt. They're both about 27-ft long and they just they don't look that big in here. It's pretty wild.
in here. It's pretty wild.
We have so much to look forward to [music] making this building our own and continuing to hustle to pay for it.
We're really looking at this as big kid moves [music] like looking to the future and buying commercial real estate is [music] a very very big for us. So, um tell us down in the comment section if you can relate because
[music] it's an intimidating move, but it really feels necessary and it feels like we're in a really cool time in our life where [music] we're hustling and We're in the building. We're in the
building phase of our lives. So,
we kind of look at it like Emily and I will never retire.
But, you know, if we want to go do something a little bit different, this is a building that could be leased out and, you know, help us retire. So, we're
going to use it while we can, enjoy it while we can, and then we got an asset.
So, that's the idea behind it.
We are so thankful that you guys came for this tour. Tell us down in the comment section what you think and we will see you guys on the next fun video.
