H. So, this is the living room. I want
to talk about this area first. I show it in a lot of videos and I spend a lot of time here. It was also probably my
time here. It was also probably my favorite area in my house. So, yeah,
let's start here.
So, as you can probably tell, we have a lot of light in our apartment. This is
probably the best part about this apartment. These huge windows that run
apartment. These huge windows that run across the living room space is just amazing. The windows here, we face
amazing. The windows here, we face northwest and I get a lot of natural light throughout the day. In the morning in particular, just direct sunlight.
Boom. Super nice orange. Casts a very nice glow across the house. And I love waking up to that. It is it is an amazing feeling. But because of this as
amazing feeling. But because of this as well, it is very hot, especially during summer. We have these blinds thankfully,
summer. We have these blinds thankfully, which keep a lot of light out. And it
does make a big difference just dayto-day. Now, just to be clear, I
dayto-day. Now, just to be clear, I moved in here, I don't know, maybe less than 6 months ago, and my girlfriend Mi, she's been living here for about 5 years at this point. So, a lot of this stuff,
we kind of just stylized it together, but it was mostly her. Now, the
statement piece of this room is definitely the stainless steel shelving system right here.
In almost every video I make, I get questions asking where is this shelving unit from. This is from Muji. This is
unit from. This is from Muji. This is
known as the SUS shelving system. And
there are three different variations. I
think the the three different shelving systems all share the same base wire frame and then the actual shelf is just different material, but we opted to get the stainless steel version. I think
this has such a cool look. Over on to my left here as well, we actually have a lowrise version of the SUS shelving system. This is in like a powdered white
system. This is in like a powdered white finish. That was the only one available
finish. That was the only one available at the time, otherwise maybe we would have got the stainless to match it, but it has a very clean look as well. One
thing I do have to say about the stainless steel is that it does get quite dirty and it's quite noticeable as well. In comparison, this white shelf
well. In comparison, this white shelf over here, it gets dirty as well, but you know, it's not as visible. We have a cat. Got is the editing supervisor of uh
cat. Got is the editing supervisor of uh of this household. He sheds a lot of hair. So, you see hair everywhere, but
hair. So, you see hair everywhere, but for some reason, this this low-rise shelf, it seems to always stay kind of clean looking. This shelf has been here
clean looking. This shelf has been here for about 5 years. So, it has accumulated a lot of trinkets and books and stuff over the time. So, let me share just a couple of my favorite
things. This clock right here, this is a
things. This clock right here, this is a flip clock from Twimco. It is a beautiful statement piece that I like having on the shelf here because it adds
a nice pop of color. This orange flip clock, I think it also gives a bit of character. I I love stuff like this,
character. I I love stuff like this, little contraptions that move, mechanical things. You know me, I love
mechanical things. You know me, I love cameras and stuff, so this is right up my alley. I was actually gifted this.
my alley. I was actually gifted this.
Um, and yeah, super grateful for this.
Just sits on the shelf. To accompany
this, I have a portable lamp from Hey, I actually have two of these. This red
one, this is the POW lamp. This one
here, I kind of I think it's called the PC lamp. And they're different because
PC lamp. And they're different because this one you can actually see the light through the top section here whereas this one is solid. Much more viby a little bit more practical. But these
both kind of live around here. And yeah,
I just utilize them throughout different situations if we're having dinner or just to give a bit of light and character to this background section. So
to be honest, none of the books behind me are my books. I'll show you some of the cool ones, though. This right here is a book of 1,000 different chairs, design books. Very nice to just like
design books. Very nice to just like flick through, get a little bit of inspiration from. I love chairs. I love
inspiration from. I love chairs. I love
design. I love interior stuff. So, this
is kind of right up my alley. I have
flicked through this a couple of times.
Down here, we have a selection of manga.
This one in particular is Dormo. If you
guys know Dormo, he is an OG. I actually
think I had these from when I was a kid.
So, this is pretty cool. My mom, she was like, "Hey, look what I found." And then she passed these over to me. So, they're
kind of just sitting here. And there's a little bit of a collection. It's not
like everything, but these are pretty cute. Okay, so now this is Gacha. This
cute. Okay, so now this is Gacha. This
is the editing supervisor I was just talking about. He started his shift. And
talking about. He started his shift. And
we've actually got a little bit of a mascot collection of little gachis right behind us over here. Mi's got a little bit of an obsession with little decor
cats. Got a little family. They're
cats. Got a little family. They're
having a Enkai, little bit of a party.
We also have another guty here. This is
GI as well. We have a little bit of a vinyl collection. We have a vinyl player
vinyl collection. We have a vinyl player just here as well, which is very cool.
We honestly don't use it too much in um the future. I do want to utilize it a
the future. I do want to utilize it a little bit more, but I also need to get some kind of speaker system that will work well with it. Anyway, we have a couple. Anyway, shout out to Sileru.
couple. Anyway, shout out to Sileru.
Shout out to the internet. Shout out
Miaakisan. Shout out to the boys. Oh
yeah, over here we actually have my silver play button for YouTube, which is kind of cool. I always forget that this is here. But yeah, um it's a very cool
is here. But yeah, um it's a very cool one to just have on display just in the corner. But I worked hard for this one.
corner. But I worked hard for this one.
Thank you. You may notice over here we have some alcohol. We don't really drink that much, but we kind of just bring some back every time we go to Japan. and
it is just accumulated. This was a special one we got from Uji. It's a very pretty bottle. It actually smells quite
pretty bottle. It actually smells quite amazing. Very,
amazing. Very, very sweet. Umeu soda during the summer.
very sweet. Umeu soda during the summer.
Maybe we would actually drink all of this. I don't know. There's also a
this. I don't know. There's also a couple of plants hanging around. I say
hanging around because there was a lot more before, but they've all kind of died because it's just a little bit too much maintenance. It's extremely hot and
much maintenance. It's extremely hot and yeah, not too many of those friends have survived. But I've got one big plant
survived. But I've got one big plant over here which is my friend. So my
friend over here, this guy, my fus, I have had this little plant since he was probably about like this tall. I
remember purchasing him from the nursery and then at that point like everybody was growing their own fiddle leaf figs and yeah I just hopped on the train and
it has been maybe like 3 or 4 years I think since I got this and it has grown just as tall as me. Actually it's taller than me now. So congratulations. He is
extremely healthy. When we moved in here, he had no problem adapting to this like pretty bright but semi- dark environment. Seems to be okay. I just
environment. Seems to be okay. I just
give him a water every single day and yeah, super healthy and happy.
Our couch here, this is from Muji. This
is their unit sofa and we actually kind of broke it. I don't know. We're just
sitting on it one day and then I think the frame collapsed on the inside. So,
we kind of supplement it with pillows right now. But yeah, this is easily
right now. But yeah, this is easily replaceable. You just purchase another
replaceable. You just purchase another unit, replace it. That's how it is. But
surrounding it, everything is quite low here. And I really enjoy that because we
here. And I really enjoy that because we have a low table here. Sometimes we eat dinner here. We sit on the floor. We use
dinner here. We sit on the floor. We use
like a zabaton, one of these cushions, or I have this little fold out snow peak cushion that I often sit on right here while just eating food. And yeah, I actually really enjoy sitting low to the
ground. It kind of gives you that
ground. It kind of gives you that feeling that the ceiling is much higher than it actually is. Surrounding the
couch, we've got a couple of things.
Firstly, you might have noticed our friend here. Pikachu.
friend here. Pikachu.
>> Pikachu.
>> It's a very, very nice squishy friend.
>> She sits over there. We've also got this rug by Stusy. Now, this I bought a long time ago and I get a lot of questions about this as well. But this is just a
throw Stissusy made quite a while ago and yeah, it's a very nice soft billiards pattern kind of tapestry that I just keep on the side here. A little
bit of decoration, but also when you're a little cold, you can just grab it and use that as a blanket. I've got another one over there. It's just like a blue indigo dyed cotton piece that I got from
Japan a little while ago. And they kind of just decorate the piece, give it a bit more color, and yeah, it's just things that I really like. This rug
here, it ties everything together. It's
from Broa. And because of the stainless steel, the white walls, the wooden floors and stuff, this very subtle checker print, it gives a lot of just
balance, I think, to the area without really being too loud, which is just nice.
You might not be able to see me too well, but I hope you can see this stuff around me. This right here is a really
around me. This right here is a really nice floor to ceiling cap tower that we have, and Gacha loves it. He sits in this bowl here. He can sit on the roof
there. He actually never really sits on
there. He actually never really sits on this hammock. But this, I believe, is a
this hammock. But this, I believe, is a great great addition to the home. We
upgraded from a fabric cat tower because it was kind of hard to clean and it was a little bit unesthetic. So, we upgraded to this. It's got a nice plywood finish,
to this. It's got a nice plywood finish, multiple levels, floor to ceiling, and there's no like random parts that we need to connect it to anything. It kind
of just compresses against the roof and the floor and stays in place. So, it's
very clean. On the floor here, we have his little food station which dispenses food every now and then. It's like on a timer, so we don't need to worry about
that. And he can have his little treats.
that. And he can have his little treats.
If you're new to the channel, I work as a freelance videographer as well as doing content creation. So, a lot of the time I'm actually here at home working.
And so I needed to create a good balance between work and life. So having my desk was a bit of a question mark. What do we
do with it? As you can probably tell, this is the solution. After moving in, there has been a couple of changes.
Firstly, the two working desks, they weren't there. This dining table, it was
weren't there. This dining table, it was arranged the other way. And then this light fixture, the mirror, and then some of the other little decoration pieces weren't there either. And yeah,
essentially I need to work here. So
creating a work life balance was very important. And having my desks kind of
important. And having my desks kind of like separated from the rest of the room without any like barriers was a pretty important thing for me. This is my desk.
I spend a lot of time here. What I have is an IKEA table. This is quite cheap.
It's very not deep. So, this allows me to have a small little table set up in the corner without like intruding on the rest of the living space. I have a A1
sized cutting mat from JK Crafts. This I
just found on Amazon and it is a great like it's a cool look. I think I usually work with the Apple ecosystem. So, Apple
keyboard. I've got a studio display from Apple. I've got a couple of charging
Apple. I've got a couple of charging things on the side here. Things that I use all the time. lip balms, hand creams, eye drops, etc. I've got my headset. I've got this lamp from IKEA.
headset. I've got this lamp from IKEA.
And yeah, it's a fairly simple setup, but it's exactly what I need. So, yeah,
that's good. And on the floor here, I have a little crate from Hey. I love
these crates. They're so versatile.
They're very colorful. So many different colors. And this is a mediumsiz one that
colors. And this is a mediumsiz one that I use to collect and just hold a lot of my magazines and stuff. These I actually look upon them quite often for reference
and inspiration, especially when doing any kind of design work because I find a lot of cool things in here. Also, it's
just a nice little flick through, especially if friends come over, you just like bring out the crate, everybody picks out like a magazine, and there's I
think something for everyone in here. I
have a Herman Miller sale chair. I got
this secondhand for a great price. And
the cool thing is it actually perfectly fits into this area. Looks really cool.
Yeah, this is the IKEA chair. This is
also a great one. This one doesn't have wheels though, so yeah, we just got to move that across. This is the dining table. I've got a nice blue indigo
table. I've got a nice blue indigo cotton throw on it at the moment. I
think these soft furnishing items are really great, versatile pieces that you can use as a throw. I use it as a runner in this case just to give a bit of home
homey feeling. I think there's also a
homey feeling. I think there's also a lot of blue items around. It's my
favorite color by the way. We've got
this Helenox chair in a paisley color. I
got this from my sister. So good. I keep
this here because well, you can never have enough chairs, I think. Across we
have some lighting pieces. Now, this one is a pendant light that I installed, I think, as soon as I moved in because, yeah, I wanted to bring my pendant from
my old room across to here, keep it alive, and this little sticky adhesive hook on the roof. I'm not too sure how that's going to go when if I remove it
one day, but we'll have to see. It has
been very secure since then. I've also
got down here, hard to tell, but it's an Akari lamp. It is a rectangle shape that
Akari lamp. It is a rectangle shape that I found in Japan. Very lucky to have found it. And it has been a great little
found it. And it has been a great little friend. In all of the lights here, I
friend. In all of the lights here, I have Philips Hue bulbs. So, I can just change the brightness as well as the color in it. I like to keep it at a nice warm color, especially in the evenings.
It has a much softer home feeling, and I feel very comfortable with that. And
it's especially beautiful at night. I'll
probably put on a clip to show you guys how this place is during the evening when the sun sets because it really does transform. This big mirror, this is also
transform. This big mirror, this is also from IKEA. It's been a game changer. I
from IKEA. It's been a game changer. I
had it at my old place, but bringing it here, putting it on this wall, it almost makes the room feel bigger because of the reflection. It's also extremely
the reflection. It's also extremely practical because I don't know if I'm getting ready to go out or something.
It's a full-size mirror so you can just check your outfit. I always use it. And
having it here, it also reflects the light. So, it kind of makes you feel
light. So, it kind of makes you feel like there's more pendant lights in the room. It's It's great. And over on this
room. It's It's great. And over on this side, I actually have a koiish. This is
a koi noi. It is a Japanese tradition, a common thing for children's day. And I
have this mini red and gold colored one from Beams. Beams Japan. They sell so many cool things. This in particular I found online and it was just so cool I had to get it. And I kind of just love
having it hung on the roof here. It
gives a nice pop of color. As I'm
explaining everything, I've noticed that I have a lot of red/ orange things as well as blue items. I think nice bold strong colors.
Down in the corner here, this is a very sentimental piece for me. This is a calendar. It's a wood block print. So
calendar. It's a wood block print. So
you carve out and then you print it onto a piece of paper. This is something my granddad actually made. Now this one in particular is special because it is
my birthday year calendar 1999. And then
so January the 1st which is my birthday is physically here on the print which is very special to me because this is my birthday calendar if that makes sense.
This is also a print of the station near my grandma's house. And yeah, we were honestly just looking through a lot of his prints that he made when he passed away last year. And this one really
struck to me. So I decided I'm going to keep it. I'm going to frame it and I'm
keep it. I'm going to frame it and I'm going to put it somewhere so I can always remember him. And yeah, this sits perfectly just on the floor over here.
Maybe one day I can hang it on the wall or something, but yeah, this is a nice one. I like having that there. Now, you might be curious,
that there. Now, you might be curious, but behind here, these curtains here, we actually have our balcony. And this just looks onto the road. We live next to a pretty busy street, so it gets quite
loud. So, the double glazed window and
loud. So, the double glazed window and the door we have here does a really good job at keeping that away from in here.
But, we just hang our washing out there.
We don't really have anything special, so not much to show you guys.
We're in the kitchen now. I like eating out a lot, but I also like to cook at home. So, we've got a very nice big
home. So, we've got a very nice big kitchen top here, which is just a lifesaver when it comes to preparing food and everything. Underneath, I've
actually got two little trolleys. These
are IKEA trolley that I picked up as soon as I moved in, and they just been a lifesaver in terms of storage for miscellaneous things. I keep all of my
miscellaneous things. I keep all of my coffee gear up here, and I keep like my breakfast stuff underneath it. Yeah, I
think this it could live in the shelves, but it's stuff that I access pretty much every single day. So, why not have it somewhere accessible and easy to clean
up and just pack away? Storage for pots and pans and stuff, which is also extremely handy. More storage. If you
extremely handy. More storage. If you
cook at home or use the kitchen quite a lot, then I'm sure you understand how nice it is to have a big open kitchen and especially one where I'm looking, like just looking out here right now, I
see the trees and everything. It is just so bright and beautiful. It's a great place.
I start every single day off with coffee. So, I've got a couple of
coffee. So, I've got a couple of different filter kits. And this one is my favorite at the moment. It is like this nice handmade steel one with little bronze rivets and stuff. It's very cool.
Kettle and grinder behind me. This is
from Bario. extremely well-made products and it just really elevates that whole coffee making experience that I do every single day. I can't live without it.
single day. I can't live without it.
Being on the second floor, it gives us a bit of space from the main road that we are next to, but it also gives us an eyline view with the trees. I personally
can't live without good lighting and nature especially. So having both of
nature especially. So having both of them right in front of my eyes as I work, as I cook food, as I relax, it is such a great thing. I'm very aware how lucky I am with this situation here,
moving into a place that has already been semi-furnished, not having to start from scratch. And yeah, this has been a
from scratch. And yeah, this has been a great place that I've been staying at for the last half a year. You guys seem to love it as well, and I'm glad to be able to share it with you guys through
today's video.
The lighting is much nicer here, isn't it? If you've been subscribed watching
it? If you've been subscribed watching the channel for a long time, then you'd already know that I love interior decor.
All of these furniture items and stuff.
It has really become a passion of mine.
I think especially as I'm home a lot, I just want to make my home feel comfortable, feel very cozy, and also quite aesthetic. I think I thrive in
quite aesthetic. I think I thrive in that sort of environment. And I love looking online, finding new purchases and stuff, especially vintage finds when I get the chance. But if you've noticed,
I haven't really been buying anything recently for the house. And there is a good reason for that. And is because we are going to be moving out. I love
waking up every single morning watching the sunrise just over through the window and then enjoying the evenings with our ambient lights and cooking food here.
It's really a dream come true. And
living in Sydney, I've been here my whole life, but I am half Japanese as you guys may know. And my other half of my heritage, it's over in Japan. I spend
a lot of time there for work and I've got my friends over there, too. And we
figured that it'd be a fun time to try living over there. So,
sad news, but exciting news. I'm going
to be moving to Tokyo, Japan next year.
Hopefully, everything goes smoothly. But
because that is already decided, I haven't been purchasing anything for the apartment here, which it has taken a lot of self-control. But I know Tokyo, the
of self-control. But I know Tokyo, the environment there is already an incredible place. I've been there so
incredible place. I've been there so often recently, especially just to build connections and hang out with my friends who also do similar things. Gaku and
Peace, I'm sure you're watching this, shout out to you guys. I don't think any of this would be possible without you two. You guys watching the videos as
two. You guys watching the videos as well, I'm sure you know of them. They're
like my best buddies that are over in Tokyo. They are they inspire me to work
Tokyo. They are they inspire me to work harder to make videos with higher quality and to share my stories. And
without my friends and a support system, moving over there without any sort of foundation would have been really difficult. But having that makes it a
difficult. But having that makes it a lot easier for me mentally at least. I
haven't actually done the move yet. You
guys have any suggestions for furniture pieces and stuff, please let me know because I'm going to start researching, putting together mood boards, trying to figure this stuff out because this will be the first apartment or house that I
move into where it is completely my control. Well, with Mi, of course, but
control. Well, with Mi, of course, but from scratch. We're going to be building
from scratch. We're going to be building our new home, and I'm very excited for that. Anyway, that has been enough
that. Anyway, that has been enough rambling and chatting for one video, I think. So, I'm going to leave you here.
think. So, I'm going to leave you here.
I hope you have a nice day or night wherever you are and I will see you in the next video. Peace.
