So, I'd love to just start with having you introduce yourself.

I'm Dr. Fei-Fei Li. I've spent 25 years teaching AI to see and to interact with the world. The most important thing is

the world. The most important thing is to remember it's our [music] agency that would dictate how AI will shape our future.

Well, as a mother, I should you know always tell myself to be more patient with my kids.

[gasps] I'm naturally not a patient person. I

want to get things done and I want to make the changes. But I think it is important to remind myself [music] and ourselves that as technology accelerates

so fast, let's be patient with who we are, with our humanity, with our relationship with ourselves, with each other, and with nature.

If I were to go back to the start of my career, I would tell myself the same thing as I did, which is find a biggest North Star that you're so passionate to

pursue and just keep running towards it.

Don't let go.

So perfect.

I know. It's beautiful. Truly.

Thank you.

I'm a very visual person. I really don't lose sight. It's okay to be tired. It's

lose sight. It's okay to be tired. It's

okay to be disappointed. It's okay that we have setbacks. But for me, not letting go of what that North Star is and not losing sight cuz I imagine

them on this journey. And one beautiful thing about North Star is that you don't have to reach it. It's just there. Just

keep going towards it. You will find yourself in a place you never imagined before.

Fantastic.

AI can be overwhelming, especially now the public discourse is just there's so many voices. If you have the foundation

many voices. If you have the foundation of knowing what AI is and knowing how to use the AI tool, I think it still starts with the willingness and curiosity to learn. Is that this is a tool and this

learn. Is that this is a tool and this tool is not going away. It's going to become more and more powerful, no matter if you are a teacher, a doctor, an

artist, a lawyer, whoever you are, you've got interest, you've got work you feel proud of, start with looking within. What makes you most passionate?

within. What makes you most passionate?

What is the story you want to tell or what is the technology or product you want to build or what is the impact you want to make? Don't be afraid of it.

Once you get familiar with it, you will actually feel that empowerment and know how to use it more responsibly.

I don't have to imagine it's 2020 because 2018, my colleagues and I did imagine that AI will take the world by storm. As AI technologists, we see that

storm. As AI technologists, we see that where this [music] field is going, the incredibly exciting technology that's coming up, but it's profound implication

of human lives, human society. And

because of that duality, we started Stanford's Human-Centered AI Institute, [music] we call Stanford HAI, where technology, humanity come together and

we not only do the cutting-edge research of AI, but also imagine as a tool came empower people, help people, but also

using the tools of social sciences and humanities to help us understand what AI is, what is impact to society, how do we predict it, and how do we guide it? So,

that's what we did. We're still on that journey till this day.

The one bet [music] I will place for myself is spatial intelligence because I believe it's the linchpin technology that connects our perception [music] of

the world to how to make embodied AI and robots happen. If it's a [music] bet for

robots happen. If it's a [music] bet for everybody, I would encourage everybody to invest in yourself in this AI era and empower

yourself with AI tools and pursue whatever your dream takes you. Let AI

augment you and empower you.

When it comes to AI today, a lot of people, including leaders, start with more fear and anxiety, and some of us

even let go that agency. I think the most important thing is to remember it's our agency that would dictate how AI will shape our future. If you're a

leader in business, if you're a leader in a group of people in a community, if you're a policymaker leading a state, a country, think about what you want to do to use technology to help people, to

make a difference. Start from that position. Don't start from

position. Don't start from fear. Don't start from anxiety. Don't

fear. Don't start from anxiety. Don't

start from the sense of we don't have agency. We have all the agencies. It's

agency. We have all the agencies. It's

our responsibility to use this technology right.

I love the birds, by the way.

Yeah.
