It's been 3 months since I've entered my City Girl era, and I've never been busier. Between balancing work and my
busier. Between balancing work and my social life, it's been a challenge to maintain that structure I had when I was living at home, especially my eating habits. Although it is so tempting and
habits. Although it is so tempting and easy to eat out and order in all the time, I want to make sure I'm still being healthy and financially responsible while living on my own, which is very hard to do if you're always running around like me. So, this
is a realistic what I eat in a day living alone, where I share the meals I make at home to stay healthy, toned, and on budget.
Every Sunday I always meal prep. I am a big believer in time savers, especially if you have a hectic schedule. And
usually Sunday is the perfect day to meal prep. To be quite honest with you,
meal prep. To be quite honest with you, meal prepping takes me like maybe 3 hours, but it is so so worth it. Instead
of having to cook every single meal every single day, I just batch cook everything at once so that I can grab and go during the week. The other reason I really like meal prepping is that I have full control over what I'm cooking.
If you live in a big city like me, then you know it is so easy to eat out, especially if you work all the time and are too tired to cook. But the cost really adds up and you don't know what restaurants are putting in the food. So,
the best way to just make healthy choices and stay on top of your health goals is to meal prep. When you're
rushing between meetings and you need something quick, the food is like right there and you don't even have to think about it. And don't worry, I'm going to
about it. And don't worry, I'm going to show you the exact meals I'm eating right now. The very first thing I put in
right now. The very first thing I put in my body is lemon water. You guys must be so sick of seeing this because I always show myself drinking it in my videos, but I cannot talk about it enough.
Hydration first thing in the morning is so important. After 8 hours of sleep,
so important. After 8 hours of sleep, your body is like a raisin. So, you need to replenish all the fluids you lost at night to become a nice plump and juicy grape. I don't know about you, but
grape. I don't know about you, but chugging a ton of water first thing in the morning is really hard for me. So,
that's why I squeeze half a lemon in it.
It just gives it some flavor, and the vitamin C is really good for your skin and health. I'm a little embarrassed to
and health. I'm a little embarrassed to admit this, but I am not doing workout classes anymore. Well, I'm taking a
classes anymore. Well, I'm taking a break for now. I don't know. At first,
they were really good and I liked going to them, but after a couple weeks, I started feeling extremely tired, like abnormally exhausted, and my hunger just went through the roof. Like, the
highintensity workouts were putting so much stress on my body. I was eating everything in sight and I just felt really puffy and inflamed and that really messed with my body image. So, I
decided to take a break and see how I felt. And so far, I feel a lot better. I
felt. And so far, I feel a lot better. I
initially wanted to try workout classes because everyone in the city does them.
And to be honest, I just wanted to fit in with everyone else. But guys, always listen to your body. I realized my body is more sensitive to stress and it takes me longer to recover after a hard
workout. But that's okay. I don't need
workout. But that's okay. I don't need to be doing what everyone else is doing.
Plus, I was paying like $200 a month and only going three times a week. So, it
just like was not worth it in my opinion. But this is me not trying to
opinion. But this is me not trying to hate on workout classes. If you like them, I love that for you. They're just
not right for me in this season of my life. But who knows, maybe I'll try it
life. But who knows, maybe I'll try it again later. For breakfast, I prioritize
again later. For breakfast, I prioritize quick and easy foods because mornings are just really busy for me and the last thing I'm thinking about is cooking.
That's why I love prepping chia seed pudding. This week, I did a chocolate
pudding. This week, I did a chocolate flavor using chocolate collagen powder.
It's so easy. It requires zero effort in the morning and you can take it on the go. The collagen provides that protein
go. The collagen provides that protein and chia seeds have a lot of fiber which is great at keeping you full and providing that stable source of energy.
This will also make you very regular if you know what I mean. Sometimes I eat this in the morning, sometimes I eat it at night for dessert. It just depends how hungry I am in the morning. And if
you don't like chocolate, you can also do a vanilla version, cinnamon, matcha, or just add some fruits or granola on top. If you guys have been following me
top. If you guys have been following me for a while, then you know I used to have some health issues, especially my gut health. I've had general gut
gut health. I've had general gut dispiosis, candida, and some vitamin deficiencies. So, I took matters into my
deficiencies. So, I took matters into my own hands and did my own research. But
unfortunately, with social media and the internet, there's a ton of misinformation out there and brands that just promote a very inauthentic version of wellness. So, to just avoid all of
of wellness. So, to just avoid all of that, I wanted to speak to a specialist directly about my diet. And I found the perfect dietitian for me through Nourish. I needed someone who would walk
Nourish. I needed someone who would walk me through my specific needs and goals and who would give me that specialized guidance. And Nourish makes finding a
guidance. And Nourish makes finding a professional so frictionless and easy.
They connect you with vetted registered dietitians who you meet with online. And
most of them specialize in a specific area like gut health, women's health, hormones, etc. This way, you can get the specific help you need without having to physically go to a bunch of different offices, which is a huge hassle. I got
connected with a dietitian super quickly and we went over my specific health goals, history, and diet plan. And
normally, I get really nervous whenever I go to a doctor's office, but since I'm able to meet with my nurse dietitian in my own home, I feel a lot more comfortable to open up about my health.
They can also order your labs for you and help you interpret the results, which is very convenient. We love
services that are just a one-stop shop.
What I love about Nourish is that 94% of their patients pay 0 out of pocket. They
accept hundreds of insurance plans across all 50 states. So, this is not one of those wellness things that's only accessible if you have a lot of money.
If you have insurance, there's a really good chance you're already covered. They
also have a nourish guarantee. So, no
surprise billing and your first appointment will always be covered. I
truly believe that health starts with food. So, if you're tired of sorting
food. So, if you're tired of sorting through the misinformation and you want to meet face to face with a professional, I highly recommend trying Nourish. You can book your first
Nourish. You can book your first appointment in under 5 minutes using the link in the description. For lunch, we are having a chicken salad wrap with a side of roasted potatoes. This is one of my favorite busy girl meals because of
how stupidly simple but delicious it is.
The secret to the best chicken salad is to make it the night before. All the
flavors get to marinate with each other and it honestly gets better throughout the week. And when you're ready to eat
the week. And when you're ready to eat it, all you got to do is wrap it up with some lettuce and enjoy. This pack's
great for lunch and you don't even have to heat it up. For some more carbs, I like to eat mine with some roasted potatoes. I also meal prep this just to
potatoes. I also meal prep this just to save myself some time. And if you don't eat meat, you can swap the chicken for chickpeas or tuna. So then it becomes a chickpea salad wrap or tuna salad wrap.
This is a really easy, high protein meal that's simple and quick. Okay, I just finished my lunch and I'm feeling like I want a matcha. I recently have been
obsessed with this strawberry matcha latte from like a cafe in Chicago, but I want to make it at home, which is going to be really, really hard cuz I don't know how they do like this pink thing
and then they have like freeze-dried strawberries up here. So, I'm just I'm going to do the best I can. I have
strawberry jam, so I'm going to use this instead. Let's see how this goes. And
instead. Let's see how this goes. And
while I'm making it, I kind of want to do like a little Q&A. Well, actually not Q&A because you can't ask me anything, but I want to answer some questions you
guys have been asking me and just like getting to know me since I feel like I don't really talk about my personal life in these videos. A lot of people don't know this, but I used to be an actor
before I started doing YouTube. So, I
went to the University of Southern California in LA to be an actor. Okay,
it's really hard for me to multitask, but anyway, I grew up doing acting pretty much my entire life. like all
throughout middle school, high school, and then I was like, well, I'm good at this. And I can see myself doing this as
this. And I can see myself doing this as a career, so that's why I went to school for it. But towards the end of college,
for it. But towards the end of college, I was like, m this isn't for me. I feel
like even more so than social media, Hollywood is very, very competitive, especially, you know, if you're like ethnic. So, I was like maybe in another
ethnic. So, I was like maybe in another life. But that's initially what drew me
life. But that's initially what drew me to social media because I feel like it's it's still entertainment, you know? So,
I'm still using my degree. Oh, speaking
of California, my family and I lived in California for like 7 months when I was in like kindergarten. I don't know why we moved. I think it was because of like
we moved. I think it was because of like my acting career, but we don't really have too many family members out there.
So, we just moved back to Chicago. And
that was the only time we ever lived in another state other than Illinois. Let's
see. I've never broken a bone. Knock on
wood.
So hopefully that doesn't happen to me.
I've never had any like major surgery except when I was like in first grade. I
had to be hospitalized because they thought I had like like a weird disease cuz my I had a really high fever and um they didn't know what was wrong with me.
But I was just really sick. I am full Korean. Oh, actually this is something
Korean. Oh, actually this is something you guys always ask me. You guys are like Allison, how do you speak like such fluent English? your English is so good.
fluent English? your English is so good.
Well, I was born in the States, so thankfully my English is good. If it
wasn't, that'd be kind of questionable.
I grew up in the States, and um I'm full Korean, though, so like I'm basically Korean-American, but I don't really speak Korean. Um I understand kind of
speak Korean. Um I understand kind of like 50% of what people are saying. So,
like a first grader equivalent. And um I really only speak Korean to my grandmother cuz as she's getting older, the more she like reverts back to just what she's familiar with. And so the
more and more she speaks in Korean to me, it's been good because I feel like I feel like it helps me like practice my Korean, if that makes sense. But I used to take this like Korean course and then
I stopped cuz it was really hard. Oh,
wait. What am I doing? I am the youngest of my family. I have an older brother and well he's cool. He's only like 2 years older than me though and so I
think us being like really close in age made us fight a lot as kids. And to be honest like I mean we're cool now. Like
I'd consider him like a friend. A
friend. I mean he's my sibling, but you know I I don't know. Maybe like as we continue to get older the more close we'll be. But yeah, he's cool. Oh no, my
we'll be. But yeah, he's cool. Oh no, my um swirly thing is like broken. Oh, I
guess I'll just have to mix it like this. Bro, what is going on here? Hello.
this. Bro, what is going on here? Hello.
I do want to go back to Korea soon. I
don't know if it's going to happen this year or even next year, but definitely within the next couple years. The last
time I went was like 2013 or something.
And I was just a kid, so I don't remember that much. And I feel like when you go as an adult, you're able to like appreciate the culture more. And
obviously, I want to do some shopping, some eating. Do I pour I think I pour
some eating. Do I pour I think I pour the milk first. Every time I make matcha, the matcha always separates, which is uh not the vibe I'm going for.
So, let's see if I can do this correctly. All right. You ready? You
correctly. All right. You ready? You
ready for this? Here we go.
Ooh, wait. I should have made more. This is
wait. I should have made more. This is
not a lot. That's my uh five sips of matcha right here. I know what we need.Oop loop. Boom. Okay, now it looks
need.Oop loop. Boom. Okay, now it looks kind of full. Let me just add some more milk. How come my matcha is like not as
milk. How come my matcha is like not as green as I want it to be? All right,
here is my not so strawberry matcha latte.
Oh, shoot. I should have like um blended this or something cuz there's like pulp.
It's kind of chunky. Okay, this was a fail. It kind of tastes like strawberry.
fail. It kind of tastes like strawberry.
Oh, I can't even suck it up the straw.
There's like a big big chunk. All right,
next time it'll work out for me.
All right, let's talk supplements because I know people are already going to ask. I always believe food first,
to ask. I always believe food first, supplements second. They supplement the
supplements second. They supplement the nutrients you need outside of your current diet, but you shouldn't rely on them. You know what I mean? Ideally, the
them. You know what I mean? Ideally, the
main food that you're eating should contain the vitamins and nutrients that you need to sustain yourself. But
because of like industrial agriculture and like processed foods, we're not getting all of our nutrients. Okay, so
that's why we supplement. And because
food is not as nutrient-dense as it used to be, I really do think that everyone should be supplementing with at least a couple ones. So, here is my current
couple ones. So, here is my current supplement stack. I am taking a
supplement stack. I am taking a probiotic. This is the Leummy DBloat
probiotic. This is the Leummy DBloat Daily Digestive Gummies. Listen, I'm
normally very skeptical when it comes to celebrity products. I mean, most of the
celebrity products. I mean, most of the time they're kind of like a cash grab, but these like low-key work. 30 minutes
after taking these, I'm running to the bathroom. These will clear you out,
bathroom. These will clear you out, which is why I think the debloat part works cuz if you're feeling backed up, that's definitely going to make you feel puffy. And they taste really good, too.
puffy. And they taste really good, too.
So, I like these. I also have the Lemi curb gummies. These are actually for
curb gummies. These are actually for cravings. When I was working out a lot
cravings. When I was working out a lot and going to the workout classes, I was like starving all the time, so I wanted to try these, but these I feel like are not as effective as these. But honestly,
they still taste really good. So, I just take them. The next supplement I take is
take them. The next supplement I take is vitamin C. This is for immune support.
vitamin C. This is for immune support.
It's great for your skin and it's how you don't get sick. Next up is vitamin D3. I live in Chicago, so 9 months out
D3. I live in Chicago, so 9 months out of the year, it's cold and so we're all indoors. So, I take vitamin D3. This is,
indoors. So, I take vitamin D3. This is,
I believe, 5,000 IUs. This is a non-negotiable for my mood and also my immune system. Next up is magnesium.
immune system. Next up is magnesium.
This one I added specifically for sleep and stress. Magnesium helps to regulate
and stress. Magnesium helps to regulate your nervous system. And did you know most people are actually deficient in it, including myself. So, if you work out a lot or you have a very demanding job, I highly recommend taking
magnesium, especially before bed. Oh,
another fun fact. I actually used to have a phobia of swallowing pills. And I
don't know, I think I just like forced myself. I peer pressured myself into
myself. I peer pressured myself into doing it, but it's still kind of hard for me. Next up, we have vitamin B12.
for me. Next up, we have vitamin B12.
Again, when I did like my nutrient panel, I found out I am deficient in this, which makes sense because I am always tired, so this is good for like energy. These are also really small, so
energy. These are also really small, so they're easy to take. And then lastly, I have a multivitamin.
This is just a baseline for like my nutritional safety. It just covers like
nutritional safety. It just covers like all of these vitamins at once, and I take it in gummy form because why not?
It makes it more enjoyable. All this to say though, you should not just blindly follow what I'm doing, okay? These are
all supplements that I personally need.
So, see your own doctor. Go get your labs, your tests done, and take supplements that your body would actually benefit from. We made it to dinner, guys. My second favorite meal of
dinner, guys. My second favorite meal of the day after lunch, of course. Tonight,
I am having a burrito bowl with ground beef. This is probably the most complex
beef. This is probably the most complex meal of today just because there's more components. But I promise if you meal
components. But I promise if you meal prep them all at the same time, all you got to do is put the bowl together when you're ready to eat. This is a super high protein and filling meal. And
because there's different sides and flavors, I never get sick of eating this multiple days in a row. Listen, there is a reason why slot bowls have supremacy in corporate culture right now. They're
just so easy to customize and they taste great. But at an average of $20 a bowl,
great. But at an average of $20 a bowl, that's $100 a week or $5,200 a year. Why
pay $5 grand for some yummy slop when you can easily make it at home for a fraction of the price? Plus, anything in a bowl is so customizable depending on your health goals. You can easily adjust the macros depending on what you need.
So, if you need more carbs, add some more rice. If you need more fats, add
more rice. If you need more fats, add more avocado. If you need less carbs,
more avocado. If you need less carbs, put less rice and more lettuce. This
meal is super flexible and delicious.
Always end the night with something sweet. Of course, it's not a what I eat
sweet. Of course, it's not a what I eat in a day without a little sweet treat. I
got some green grapes here. These are
huge. If you guys like this video and you want me to do more, then let me know in the comments. I'd love to know what you guys eat in a day or any of your current food fixations. Thanks so much for watching and see you in the next
one. Bye.
