for me I would say that the most important thing is to unlearn I never assume I know let's say that I need to
uh research about deep time I even go to the very basics of what is time and I go to the encyclopedia and I going to I
don't know what time is so I befriend it again I get to know it again I ReDiscover it with the eyes of today because the eyes of yesterday they
already think they know and there's no uh potential on that artists we are visually literate people we are also have the capacity to invent and
speculate about something to imagine so when you take out that of the conversation you really leave it without imagination it's a civilization without
imagination a civilization without the capacity to see where are we [Music]
going through the design of nature we can actually understand much more you know where things are going what we are made out of it is truly like looking at
this internal force that we have that is able to propel us and especially in the idea of the edges of our conceptual Powers when you see the work you will be
seeing nature looking perhaps much more at a system then the sound puts it in a place where you feel perhaps your own vibration you feel your own sense of
core that nature can actually challenge your safety I think creativity happens when you truly test the boundaries of things and when you push them to a point
where you really don't know and you're not sure an imagination starts flowing the edges of where we feel comfortable is where I want to be when we feel too
com comfortable we stop [Music] seeing I put myself in these extreme situations you know going to the Arctic in a sailboat at minus 25° where nothing
out there wants you to live is a way of my being able to get jolted into really see precisely I realize that sometimes I
might not back when I am in those edges I don't take anything for granted I also lose a sense of myself I
begin to not know and it's only when I'm in that edge of not knowing when I can be [Music]
creative the most important project that we're doing right now which is We are following the Arctic turn which is a seabird that goes from the Arctic to the Antarctic and back every year it's a
solo flight and it is from the North Pole to the South Pole the smallest of creatures are really a barometer of what's happening or what
can happen to us as a species chasing this beautiful bird that sees the most sunlight of every creature in the world just for that reason it is worth chasing that beautiful bird in order for us to
understand truly our place in the world we need to connect the social issues of migration and I do think that the migration pattern for me is becoming a
metaphor of how I like existing in the world it connects all my expertise as a photographer as a filmmaker as a designer as a book maker but also
charting cartography all my might as a graphic designer needs to come forward and I think it's because all of those are different aspects of of my migratory
pattern to me I I feel sometimes that I'm just scratching the surface on so many things and making work that emerges from the physical encounter and I'm really meaning physical encounter with
the natural forces that govern our planet simply so I can understand much more my place within it
