This is my friend. She's owned this 2014 Model S P85D since the early days of Tesla. After all these years, she knows

Tesla. After all these years, she knows she's ready for full self-driving. So,

while shopping for her next Tesla, she's spending real time with FSD on the regular drives that make up her everyday life. Tell me what you were saying about

life. Tell me what you were saying about how you were afraid to drive >> his car for the whole first year or so.

Scared to death.

>> See, I thought that you had bought it for yourself. I didn't realize it was

for yourself. I didn't realize it was car. Okay.

car. Okay.

>> Yeah. And then it was like that for a few years and then he quit that job >> and then something happened with my car.

This was, you know, obviously like 12 years ago, right? 2014. Yeah.

>> And I can't remember what happened to my car, but then it just made sense for me to take the Tesla because he wasn't commuting.

>> Got it. And so what is he driving the SUV >> right now? Yes, he drives an SUV. Yeah.

>> Got it.

>> Yeah.

>> Cool. Was that hard for him to go from driving a Tesla to a regular gas car?

>> I don't think so.

>> Oh, okay.

>> No. Cool.

>> He wasn't afraid.

>> Yeah.

>> And then um Yeah. And he needed a gas cuz he I think he was driving to Vegas or something like that. We we were fortunate we wanted to have one electric and one gas.

>> And back then, I'm sure the infrastructure for the superchargers weren't the way it was today.

>> Right. Yeah.

>> Right. Yeah. And we just didn't know anything about it, you know. So,

>> gotcha. Yeah.

>> So, do you know much about FSD?

>> No.

>> Okay. Um, I guess just let me know whatever questions you have for me.

>> Um, but when you did your FSD test drive, how did how did you feel during all of that?

>> Uh, it was it was a little scary, nerve-wracking. Okay. But then once

nerve-wracking. Okay. But then once Well, especially where I was at, there was a lot of traffic because it was like five o'clock, too.

>> Did you take the freeway?

>> No, because I was at Passion Island.

leave that parking lot then you know where Rogers Gardens is. Yeah. So then

it went to Rogers Gardens but you know it was MacArthur >> really big streets.

>> Yeah. So but then um you know I just I knew that if I did get nervous I could just you know put my hands on the wheel and the brake and I could take over.

>> Yeah.

>> You know so it wasn't like you know I didn't feel out of control but it was just a little nerve-wracking.

>> Okay.

>> But once I got the hang of it I was like this is kind of nice. You were very brave to do that all by yourself.

>> That's amazing. Did you even know that you were going to be trying that feature?

>> No. No. I knew I was But I thought No, I knew I wanted the the FSD. Yeah.

>> But I thought someone would come with me.

>> Okay. Okay.

>> I mean, couldn't I just I guess the car just wouldn't let me steal it.

>> Yeah. They would see where you were.

They can come get you in the car.

>> A [laughter] policeman would come. Yeah.

So, I guess they weren't worried.

>> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And you look trustworthy [laughter] >> I guess.

I guess.

>> So, would you like to long press the scroll wheel and tell them about both of our destinations?

>> Okay. Could we go to Whole Foods Market on PCH and then to Navy Golf Course in Cypress please?

Sure.

Navigating to Whole Foods Market on Pacific Coast Highway in Long Beach first, then Navy Golf Course on Orangewood Avenue in Cypress. It's 12

minutes to Whole Foods, 4.1 miles total to the course.

>> Yay. So, we'll see if it it takes us to that second destination without >> We'll see if it works. Yeah. Let me know if you need to change anything. I was

going to say we'll see if it works without us having to put it in again.

Um, okay. So, as far as your FSC settings go, let's just make sure you're comfortable. So, we'll go to autopilot.

comfortable. So, we'll go to autopilot.

>> FSC is turned on >> and >> Okay. So, as far as speed profiles go,

>> Okay. So, as far as speed profiles go, uh, I guess I was just driving on Mad Max, so [laughter] >> Okay. So,

>> Okay. So, >> I already told you no.

>> No. Would you like to start on chill sloth standard, which is standard I would say is around 5 miles per hour above the speed limit? Um, chill's going to be maybe right about speed. I'll do

chill.

>> Okay, cool. Um, and

>> I'm not a sloth.

>> Okay. So,

um, you can also change your speed profile. So, it doesn't show it right

profile. So, it doesn't show it right now, but when you drive, you can use the scroll wheels. If you want to go faster,

scroll wheels. If you want to go faster, it'll bump you up to the next one, which would be standard. You'll just have to move the Oh, I see. Yeah, I'll show you.

>> Don't press on the gas because that would take it off.

>> That'll uh the gas will not take it off.

The brake will take it off. And if you move the steering wheel, it'll take it off. But if you press the gas, it's

off. But if you press the gas, it's going to assume it thinks that we're going too slow and it's going to bump you up automatically to the next speed program >> to standard. Okay.

>> Yes. Exactly. So, that's going to be >> Or I could go this way. Exactly. So,

those are two ways that you can adjust it while you're in motion. And then when you start, you can use uh this button or you can use this down >> the drive or the reverse

>> uh yeah, the gear stop. You would just press down um to turn it off if you were to freak out. You know, you could press the brake, you can turn the steering wheel, which could be a little dangerous because you could swerve. So, I don't recommend that if you're going kind of

fast. And then you can also press up on

fast. And then you can also press up on the gear.

>> Just Yeah.

>> Yeah. Yeah. And

>> so, do you put your feet flat on the ground?

>> Yeah. And then when I get anxious, which I have no need to, honestly, because it's always been so safe, I hover just out of habit.

>> So, I'm just like, "Okay, I could I could take over."

>> It's hard to break our habits.

>> Yeah. Exactly. Okay. Are you ready? I

am.

>> Okay. So, we'll

>> And then I keep my hands here.

>> Anywhere you'd like, you know.

>> Okay.

>> So, you can go ahead and press start self-driving.

Did you have it park for you when you did your test drive?

>> Um, no, I did not.

>> Okay. So, we'll we'll see how it parks at Whole Foods.

And so here it says chill and that this is where you can keep an eye on your speed profile if you want to adjust it.

And here it's taking us to a parking garage. But if we were if it was not a

garage. But if we were if it was not a parking garage situation, we can elect other options there.

>> This part's a little creepy for me.

>> Yeah, cuz I don't like I do this all the as we all do this all the time. It's

kind of creepy coming out with two lanes, but it did just fine.

>> Yep. did just fine.

>> Cuz I usually I'll get out of the parking lot and I'll go up to the light.

>> Me, too.

>> Yeah.

>> Me, too.

>> Okay. So, does it did that freak you out when it doesn't have anything in front of you? See, mine does. I have both this

of you? See, mine does. I have both this >> Oh, you're right.

>> and front.

>> You do. Yeah.

>> So, did that take a while to get used to? Like, I'm looking for it right now.

to? Like, I'm looking for it right now.

Where's it at?

>> Yeah. I forgot about that. But you're

right. It did take me a while to get used to looking center for everything, especially when I would manual drive when I first got it and I would or even on the test drive and I would put the

blinker on and I would, you know, I mean, you would look that way to go left, but here you have to look at the camera which is center. You know what I mean? So, it's kind of counterintuitive.

mean? So, it's kind of counterintuitive.

>> So, I remember thinking I wish they had a little >> image on the mirror for some reason. Do

the Do the S and X have something like that or maybe that's in other vehicles.

I feel like I've heard of something like that. Camera image on there.

that. Camera image on there.

>> Yeah. And it flashes a light.

>> Yeah.

>> Mine is here. I'm sure yours is on there. Like the car is there. Yeah.

there. Like the car is there. Yeah.

>> Um >> this is the Rainbow Road that Julia mentioned.

>> That's so cute. She knew about that.

>> I go, "What?" I'm like I at first I thought she's like I I said I'm taking a drive. You know I was telling her what I

drive. You know I was telling her what I was doing and she's like oh tell her to put it on Rainbow Road. I'm like where's Rainbow Road at? I thought she was talking about a location.

>> Oh that's funny.

>> Yeah.

>> Maybe she has a friend with a Tesla she's seen before.

>> Yeah. Well Jake has >> Is that her husband's >> Jake has a um Ionic.

>> Okay. So maybe would that I mean that's electric too, right? Do all electric vehicles use rainbow road? I don't know.

>> No, it's just Tesla.

>> Just Tesla.

>> Yeah. So if you were not on FSD, you wouldn't get this rainbow road in front of you if you were manual driving. Uh

the default is blue. So it just has like a blue trail, but rainbow road is just the function instead of the blue trail.

So would the blue trail like say if we put blue and we hit like an accident, would it then go to yellow or red?

>> No, the blue trail just means FSD is on.

>> So that's the that's the only thing.

>> That's not the traffic.

>> So if you want do you want to turn it off and then see how this rainbow road turns off?

>> Sure.

>> Okay. So you can go ahead and switch over to manual however you'd like to >> be ready to take over. Yeah.

>> So do you see how that rainbow road went away?

Oh okay.

>> Okay. And then you can either press start self-driving or push down on that right gear stock to go back on. Yeah.

>> Okay.

>> Okay. There you go.

>> Wow.

>> And Rainbow Road is back.

>> And do you have a Yeah. Okay.

So, I like this.

>> Uhhuh.

>> Because one of them I drove.

>> So, which ones did you test drive?

>> I can't remember if it was a a three or a Y.

>> Okay.

>> I get confused between those two. Yeah,

>> I think it was a Y.

>> Okay.

>> But another one that I was in and it might have been >> Anyway, it had a very tiny sun visor.

>> Oh, okay.

>> It was mostly all windshield.

>> Oh, interesting.

>> That part really freaked me out. I don't

know why I think a sun visor would protect me. I mean, it protects you from

protect me. I mean, it protects you from the sun.

>> Yeah. Yeah. But I just felt really like, you know, like vulnerable or something.

I mean, I I like sun. I like the sunroofs. I do, but it was weird. But

sunroofs. I do, but it was weird. But

>> did it not have this section? So, it was just glass.

>> Yes.

>> Okay. I think that's the X.

>> Yes. I did try I had issues with my car one time and they gave me an X >> and um we were considering it because it's bigger. But I just did not like

it's bigger. But I just did not like that.

>> Like the sun visor was like it was almost like a ruler.

>> It probably just made you feel more exposed.

>> Yes. Uhhuh. Like not as safe.

>> Yeah. Like not inside something.

>> So this goes 40 miles an hour. Wow.

>> Yes. It looks like we're going right at speed limit >> in chill. Yeah.

>> Yeah. Well, we're two miles over speed limit now.

>> Okay. But now it will see when to start to get over. Huh. Yes.

>> How long was the drive from Fashion Island to Rogers Gardens?

>> Maybe 10 minutesish.

>> Okay.

>> And then it took me a roundabout way back. Um,

back. Um, so I was probably do I mean I was all by myself and I just didn't >> you know you're like he didn't he goes go wherever you want to go and I'm like well

>> you know I didn't really know I just wasn't prepared.

>> So the whole time I was in the whole FSD was probably 20 minutes half an hour.

>> Yeah >> because actually the first time I did it >> it didn't go into the parking lot. It

just kind of circled Rogers Gardens.

>> Oh interesting.

>> Yeah. So, I think maybe I he wasn't clear or maybe he didn't. The guy that put the navigation in.

>> Uhhuh.

>> Maybe he just, you know, didn't say park at Rogers Gardens, you know.

>> Where or Okay. When did you do this test drive?

>> I think it was this summer. [snorts]

>> Oh, okay. So, back then they didn't have very good parking destination stuff.

That's fairly new.

>> So, that came out probably November.

>> Oh, that makes sense then. Okay.

>> Yeah. So before so there's all the different FSD software updates. So this

build is called FSD14 and in the summer it was on 13.

>> Okay.

>> So with the introduction of 14 you got all the different parking options.

>> Wow.

>> And 13 I believe usually I mean it would pull me into into the parking lot but it would just pull me right in front of the building and it wouldn't park.

>> Yeah. That's kind of what this was doing. So now, do you get the updates

doing. So now, do you get the updates automatically like I do in mine? Like

like at night, I'll say schedule it at night or whatever. When I'm done driving, it'll just >> I park in a garage that's off of my alleyway, so it doesn't get Wi-Fi over

there. So I I do get the software update

there. So I I do get the software update notification, and so when I get that, then I'll go park in front of my my apartment and I'll just try to download it from there. But the signal is pretty

weak. could take me hours.

weak. could take me hours.

>> Once it took me a couple days.

>> Oh.

>> So, yeah, the Wi-Fi is something I've had to kind of >> navigate around. Yeah.

>> Okay.

>> Now, did you know you wanted FSD before you did the >> drive?

>> I I was thinking about it.

>> Uhhuh.

>> I was thinking about it. Um, I I wasn't sure.

>> But then like Burke was saying, um, you know, I'm the kind he changes his car frequently. That's just him.

car frequently. That's just him.

>> Okay.

>> I'm the kind where if I'm happy with my car, why change?

>> Yeah. Yeah.

>> You know, and I just feel like it's a waste of money. Yeah.

>> You know, >> and plus I'm just lazy and I'm just comfortable in what I have.

>> Yeah. Well, that's not being lazy, you know? I mean, like I feel safe,

know? I mean, like I feel safe, comfortable. It's my baby.

comfortable. It's my baby.

>> Yeah. Yeah.

>> Um, so because of that and because of my age, I'm like, I think I should get the FSD because hopefully I'll keep my car at least 10 years, right?

>> Yeah.

>> And so then I really am going to need the FSD, I'm thinking.

>> Uhhuh. And

>> so I decided, yes, I'm I'm going to just go for it and get the FSD and, you know, the full instead of just paying month by month.

>> Oh, good for you.

>> I think so.

>> That's great.

>> I think so. Yeah, because I think if you do the full upfront, it'll it'll be about 6 and a half years worth of the subscription. So, if you keep it for 10

subscription. So, if you keep it for 10 years, that's a way better value.

>> Oh, how did you figure that out?

>> Um cuz it's 8,000, right?

>> And then monthtomonth is $99. Oh, okay.

>> Yeah. So, I just did the math.

>> Yeah. Did the math on that. Okay. I

didn't know how much it was monthto month.

>> Yeah. Yeah.

>> But so, if you don't plan to keep it, then it's probably smarter to just do monthto month.

>> Yeah. I'm keeping mine for sure, but I I couldn't make up my mind and then I just one subscription and maybe I'll buy it out right eventually. We'll see. Um

because another kind of deterrent was that you can't transfer it to another vehicle. They allow you to do that

vehicle. They allow you to do that sometimes.

Uh but you know when they run special promotions so it doesn't let you transfer it over to a new vehicle. So I

was just thinking you know what if I got in a car accident or something like that. I think that would be covered by

that. I think that would be covered by insurance but >> from my research, it wasn't it wasn't very clearcut. So, I was just like, I

very clearcut. So, I was just like, I don't know. It feels like a big

don't know. It feels like a big commitment.

>> Yeah. Right.

>> Okay. So, let's see how it handles this.

>> So, I have to Will it roll on the window?

>> No. [laughter] I think you'll have to do that unfortunately.

>> Throw in a a a ticket.

Get the right one.

And then I >> I have to unbuckle myself. Short I know.

And then the car has a heart attack.

>> Yeah.

>> No, that happened to even Burke. So,

it's not it's not ours. Take over

immediately.

>> What happened to Burke?

>> He had to unbuckle, too.

>> Oh, really?

>> Okay. Thought it was just us. Sometimes

I have to open the door and >> Yeah. Yeah. Me, too. Switch your little

>> Yeah. Yeah. Me, too. Switch your little foot out. I'm like, "Oh, give me a

foot out. I'm like, "Oh, give me a break." Right.

break." Right.

>> So, let's see where it parks us.

>> Is this the first time you've done this?

>> Yes. I haven't gone in here with this.

Sorry.

>> No. I mean, I've done it. I've done

parking garages, but never here. And

this is a good one to test because it's so busy.

>> Good thing we didn't come uh Christmas week, >> right? Or like a Friday night. Oh, is it

>> right? Or like a Friday night. Oh, is it going to back us in?

>> Probably. Yep. It looks like it.

>> I'm going to look really fancy.

>> I should have dialed up more.

[laughter and gasps] >> Everyone's like, "Look at her awesome parking She's like so confident.

>> Gets it in one shot.

>> Nice.

Well, thank you.

>> Yay. We're here.

>> You know, do you use your front?

>> I don't actually. You know what I do? I

use it for takeout >> because it's isolated from the rest of the cabin compared to the back.

>> Um, so I do use it for that.

>> Okay. Well, oh my gosh, it has a Navy Golf Course. It knows.

Golf Course. It knows.

>> Wow. So, you know, you can come to Whole Foods and go golfing.

>> Yes. [laughter]

Is that where you golf >> sometimes?

>> Okay. Cool.

>> Yes, I do love to golf.

>> Yeah, >> but I still prefer tennis, but >> Yeah, tennis is awesome. All right.

Well, would you like to press start self-driving and move on?

>> Okay. So, it sees all these people.

Well, I don't have to wait for >> Yeah, I think you can start it and then >> it'll >> um it'll wait for everyone to get out of the way.

>> Yeah.

And then I just to feed this in.

>> So, I am so glad that you have the Y because I feel it's not it's small but it's not too small.

>> Yeah.

>> You know what I mean? Because I I like having a smaller car, but I also don't want to feel like I could get run over.

I agree with you. Do you feel is the feeling of this car bigger or smaller than your S?

>> A touch smaller.

>> Okay.

>> But you know, it is a sedan, but not really that much.

>> Oh, wonder why it stopped like that.

Let's see if it scoots up.

I don't know why it's hesitating.

Does it feel like it's going to hit a >> Is it going to go over that bumper?

>> Okay. So maybe Oh, there it goes.

>> No, it had plenty of room.

>> Okay.

>> I I feel like I want to say thank you.

[laughter] Insert ticket.

Not quite.

Sorry.

It's okay, baby. It's okay. Mommy's

putting her seat belt. Did you start talking to your car? [laughter]

>> No.

>> No. Mommy will put her seat belt on. Oh,

look it. It's looking for people who are walking. I'm only my my kitty's mommy.

walking. I'm only my my kitty's mommy.

>> How are your little furry?

>> Oh, they're good.

>> Furry babies.

>> Yeah, they're good. [laughter]

>> But no, um it it it feels wide. Not it feels as wide.

wide. Not it feels as wide.

>> Maybe just a touch short, but how do you feel about your your trunk? Like would I be able to put >> It folds down? I read.

>> Would I be able to put two golf bags back there?

>> Oh, yeah, for sure. Yeah, we we can look at it too when we get out.

>> Okay.

>> Um >> but yeah, it's very spacious. I put my cat stroller in the back all the time.

[laughter] Okay.

>> Oh, look at that doggy.

>> I know. Hi.

>> So cute.

>> That's a cutie.

>> So, how did you know about FSD? Was that

something that Burke was following or you knew someone?

>> No, I mean I just read about it.

>> Okay, that's actually No, actually I know how. I forgot. Burke's mom. She's

know how. I forgot. Burke's mom. She's

86 years old, has a Tesla. I think she has the three, >> but she purchased the FSD. Or may Can you get the FSD in a three?

>> Yeah, you can get it in all of them.

>> Okay. She purchased that. She's 86.

>> Wow.

>> She uses it all the time.

>> That's cool.

>> She drove She lives in Stockton. She

drove I think it was a good four hours.

>> Now, she did stop once or twice. Um, but

she drove from Stockton to a Royal Grande >> for Christmas by herself. And then like she'll go back and forth to her oldest son lives in San Ramon. So Stockton to

San Ramon, it's a little over an hour, maybe longer depending on traffic. Um

she um puts it on FSD because she, you know, especially if she spends the day there.

>> Yeah.

>> Has dinner with them and then she never wants to spend the night. She wants to go home.

>> So she doesn't want to get sleepy, >> you know. So she loves her FSD. That is

so cool.

>> She figured it out at She's going to be 87 soon.

>> Yeah.

>> And um she just she even uses it in town in Stockton because >> I mean Stockton's not a you know it's not a small town, but you know so it's

got some crazy stuff in Stockton too.

>> So she just feels more comfortable um >> using her FSD.

>> That is so amazing.

>> And she just figured out FSD on her own.

I can't believe it. Yeah, she you know because she was she just knew um it's just her now. Bick's dad passed away a few years ago and >> just felt like, you know what, I need a

little bit of extra help.

>> Yeah.

>> You know, out there and >> so yeah, it was it was from Judy, my mother-in-law.

>> I love that. And did she just get that this year?

>> No, she's had it I would say almost two years now.

>> Wow.

>> Her car is not brand new. What a techie grandma.

>> She is techie.

>> That is amazing.

>> I know. But [laughter] um I mean I'm sure she went to the dealer, but I mean her none of neither of her we weren't up there and her other two sons that live near her, they don't have

>> Teslas.

>> So I think she figured it out and or you know went to the dealer or you know went online.

>> Yeah, that is so cool.

>> So that's where it came from. And then

to see you reading about it too like Um because you know we've been Tesla fans.

>> Yeah.

>> So if this if they're offering this now it's probably good.

>> Yeah. Andrew is the one who got me into it and >> really So how did he know about it? He's

been following the company for a few years and he's just a big Tesla fan as well and just loves all the things that they do because they're such an innovative company and so

>> he's uh kind of gotten into like autonomy and stuff like that and got me into it as well surprisingly.

>> What do you mean by autonomy?

>> Robo taxi and just autonomous vehicles.

>> Oh >> yeah. Have you have you heard of any of

>> yeah. Have you have you heard of any of that?

>> The Whimos.

>> The Whimos. And then Tesla has the robo taxi. That's what that version is.

taxi. That's what that version is.

>> I've read about them. Okay. Robo taxi.

Okay.

>> Yeah. And now um I mean there's also Tesla semitrs.

>> I've read about that.

>> Yeah. And so I just >> Oh, what?

>> I saw the person walking person. Okay.

>> On Christmas mode. They're little elves.

[laughter] >> Do they have a Halloween mode, too?

>> They don't. They should come up with that next. People would love that.

that next. People would love that.

little goblins or something or black cats.

>> Yours would be black cats.

>> I know. If they had that option, I'd keep it year round. [laughter]

[gasps] >> But yeah, Andrew is really into uh you know, just kind of all the autonomous stuff that Tesla has in store and it got me kind of passionate about it as well

because I just feel like it keeps everybody safer on the roads. Yes.

>> I love the idea of the semi-truck because those are very scary to me when I'm driving next to one and I don't know if they're going to see me. And I've

seen a semi-truck hit a little car before too on the freeway cuz you'll never forget that. Yeah. So I'm like I love the idea of an autonomous semitr.

Um I love the idea of just like everyone being autonomous and following the rules all the time. It just makes me feel more safe. Um so anyway, that's kind of why I

safe. Um so anyway, that's kind of why I became really interested in FSD. And it

was really the fact that I test drove it because I mean he would show me all the videos and stuff before and I'd be like, "Well, I could drive myself. I don't

need this technology."

>> That's what I think too.

>> Yeah. But then once I actually did the test drive when I needed a new car, I just felt like I and I never realized this before, but when you're driving and you're making all these micro decisions

every second, there's an underlying level of stress there. And I felt all of that just like slip away. I was like, "Oh, I didn't realize I was living with that."

that." >> Yeah.

>> I'd rather not.

>> No. Like you're gripping the steering wheel.

>> Yes.

>> You know, harder. Like

>> Yeah. And you're just strangling at everybody and trying to predict what they're going to do or you get like mad.

>> Yes. Exactly. Like just quit it, you know?

>> Yeah. And someone had commented on one of my videos that autonomous vehicles kind of take the emotion out of driving.

And I was like, "Oh, I like that idea."

Because we shouldn't be emotional when we drive. We shouldn't be getting upset

we drive. We shouldn't be getting upset at someone cutting us off or, you know, anything like that. Like we should all just safely get from point A to point B.

No emotion involved. I mean, it's just it's just transportation.

>> It's A to B and try to be safe and cautious.

>> Yeah. Exactly. So, I was like, "Oh, I like I like the thought of that." No

road rage.

>> Yeah.

>> No anxiety.

>> Wow.

>> I just love that it was Burke's mom who discovered at first that family. I know.

>> Wow.

>> She's a trailblazer. She's very, like I said, she just at Christmas time and then took it home all by herself.

>> That's so cute.

>> Has Burke tried any FSD vehicles before?

Um, besides with his mom, he has ridden with his mom.

>> Did he drive it?

>> I think he did. Yes. When she first Yes, they all had fun with it and took turns.

>> Okay.

>> Two I think it was like two years ago at Christmas time.

>> But he really hasn't since. No.

>> Okay. I think he'll be pretty impressed because it's come really far in two years.

>> Yeah. Seems like it.

>> Yeah.

>> Seems like it.

>> Okay. What else was I thinking? um that

I had questions for you now. Um

any certain and you know if you can't answer this that's fine but any >> which dealer did you go to or did you order it online?

>> I ordered it online.

>> Okay.

>> Um >> because I see that they almost prefer that you do it that way. Yeah.

>> Right. Yeah.

>> Even if I have a trade in.

>> Yes. Because you would put that information online. I googled it and it

information online. I googled it and it says I I just need the VIN and then as it gets closer they may ask for pictures.

>> Yeah.

>> But they should >> already have all of my history in there about this car because I've only had it fixed at not Alexis at a Tesla.

>> Okay.

>> I haven't taken it >> to just an independent person.

>> So have you had any things that you've had to get fixed?

>> No, but I do I am going soon. So, I had my tire rotation done.

>> How often is that?

>> Every I think it's 6250 miles.

>> 6,000 >> 6,250.

>> That's frequent.

>> Yeah, because I think just with the torque of, you know, the EV vehicles and the weight, it just wears on the tires more often. So, you have to to do more

more often. So, you have to to do more tire maintenance. Um, so there's less

tire maintenance. Um, so there's less maintenance.

>> Will it alert you? True. Less

maintenance overall.

>> I'm trying to remember. Did it alert me?

>> I can't remember if it did or not. It It

may have on the app, >> but you just knew in your mind, I've got 6,000 miles. I better start thinking

6,000 miles. I better start thinking about it.

>> Yeah. I mean, when you look at the odometer, there is a place that says last tire rotation, and it gives you the mileage since then.

>> So, it it does keep track for you. Yeah.

I just don't remember if there's an actual notification that pops up or not.

>> Okay.

>> Um, so I did a tire rotation. I didn't

go to Tesla. I went to America's Tire Depot because I've always just gone there for all my other >> videos. That's where we go to. Yeah.

>> videos. That's where we go to. Yeah.

>> Yeah. And

>> Oh, and so they can do it.

>> They can do it. And then after that, I was driving on the freeway and I kind of felt like it was a little It wasn't wobbly, but it wasn't as steady as before. So, I went back and I was like,

before. So, I went back and I was like, "Okay, is there something wrong?" And

they checked the alignment and the align alignment was pretty off for a car that's only, you know, I got it in

March. So, it's only nine months old or

March. So, it's only nine months old or so.

>> Yeah.

>> So, they thought that it was it was a little bit >> America's Tower told you that or Tesla?

>> Yeah. America's tire. I But I had to go and have them check it. And so, uh, I decided to do it with Tesla. Like, they

could have done it for me on the spot, but I was researching and asking Grock and I was like, "Is there anything specific at Tesla that they would be more careful about or something?" Yeah.

And so, I decided yes. And I forget why.

>> Oh, Grock said take it to Tesla.

>> Yeah. I mean, it would have probably been fine, but I think there's just like a couple little specifications that may or may not be missed elsewhere. So, I

just didn't want to take the chance just to save a little bit of money, right?

>> So, I have an appointment with them next Friday for that. And then also get like the camera cleaning. Like they clean like the c there's two cameras in here >> and they'll clean the inside of it

because it can kind of get some Once a year you might have to get a camera cleaning.

>> You know what it says that it'll notify you. So I got the notification that I

you. So I got the notification that I need it. Yeah. So because it'll sense

need it. Yeah. So because it'll sense when it needs it. Like it'll be like, "Oh, it's kind of foggy in here." And

it'll tell you. So

>> I I don't know how frequently it would be. So this one's going to be free. I'm

be. So this one's going to be free. I'm

not sure why, but it's usually $60. It

said on the app.

>> Okay.

>> I don't know if it's because it's my first time or they're running a promotion or something.

>> So I've had two issues. I mean, it is 14 years old and they they did cover it under my warranty. My rear wheel >> drive thing, you know, in the back went out.

>> Okay. So,

>> so what does that mean? Like when you're driving it, what is that like if it's >> um it just I think it just stopped driving. How did what

driving. How did what >> you couldn't move your car?

>> Well, just recently I got stuck. So,

this this was this summer, might have been Memorial Day. Um, Julia and I went to that went into the Whole Foods. We

got our nails done and I think it was Memorial Day weekend. And I went to back out and my car would not move.

>> Oh, wow.

>> Yeah. And so, it was this drive, you know, >> and I know zero about cars. Yeah.

>> But it sounded pretty major, but it it was covered. I'm just about ready to

was covered. I'm just about ready to purchase it. you know, I've gone through

purchase it. you know, I've gone through all the steps and stuff. Um,

>> and but then Jared's like, "Well, >> um, do you know the difference between premium and performance?"

>> Yeah.

>> Is just >> Well, it's there's >> just the speed.

>> It's either premium or standard.

>> Okay.

>> And then there's going to be and then another category is rear rear wheel drive, all-wheel drive, and performance.

>> Okay. That's where the performance is.

>> Yes. Yeah. So, as far as premium versus standard, so th this vehicle was made before they had the two differentiators, but this would be considered a premium, okay?

>> If there was a standard option uh at the time. So, the standard, they just kind

time. So, the standard, they just kind of dressed down some of the features just to make it more affordable.

>> Okay.

>> And then as far as the like rear wheel drive, all-wheel drive performance, um yeah, all-wheel drive is going to be a little bit more powerful. It has a dual motor as Performance does as well. And

performance >> performance does have a dual motor.

Yeah. Okay. Yeah, both allhe drive.

>> No, I meant does premium >> um all-wheel drive >> allhe has >> and performance have a dual motor. Mine

does not.

>> Okay.

>> Yeah. And then the premium versus standard is just relating to the trims. >> Okay.

>> Within the vehicle.

>> So I don't know if I need that performance.

>> If you're doing FSC, I don't think you would need it.

>> Yeah.

>> Yeah. because it's going to drive.

>> That makes no sense.

>> Yeah.

>> And also, I'm not, you know, I don't care that it, you know, gets 0 to 60 in maybe a second quicker. I don't drive like that. I put it in chill.

like that. I put it in chill.

>> Yeah. Yeah. [laughter]

>> I don't think you need a performance.

>> I know. They're like, but then he thought that. So, it's got nothing. So,

thought that. So, it's got nothing. So,

the difference then it's got nothing to do with your your leather seats or your speakers or your sound.

>> It does have better speakers. All-wheel

drive is has better speakers than this car. And I think performance is another

car. And I think performance is another upgrade from that.

>> Okay.

>> I don't remember about any of the other ones. So maybe you can look online. You

ones. So maybe you can look online. You

could do the comparison. Yeah. I don't

remember cuz I I remember thinking that would be the only reason I would consider all-wheel drive was to get like two extra speakers and then if I wanted to drive this up to Mammoth or something like that. But I just don't see myself

like that. But I just don't see myself doing that.

>> Yeah. Um, so I think it would make sense for you though, like in case for some reason the SUV wasn't available or order or something, you know, >> the allwheel drive. Yeah.

>> No, you're right. It is good to have a backup.

>> Well, we picked a perfect day to come to a golf course and it looks like velvet out there, doesn't it?

>> Right. Yeah.

>> Oh my gosh.

>> All that rain.

>> Let's see if it's gonna Will it park it for us >> and then It would be funny if it flipped open the trunk. [laughter]

Don't forget your golf clubs.

>> Oh, I think it's backing in.

It prefers to back in. Huh?

>> You know what?

>> I don't know. I haven't noticed the pattern yet. I think it just does

pattern yet. I think it just does whatever is easiest.

Um, >> probably back in a little bit more than front.

>> Yeah.

[laughter] [gasps] >> Okay.

>> Is it crooked? It looked crooked on the screen. I'm going to look outside here.

screen. I'm going to look outside here.

>> You're going to give it a rating.

>> I always forget how to open my own doors.

>> It's pretty straight.

>> We're going to give it a rating. Yeah.

No, it's straight. Yeah, the picture looked a little crooked, but it it looked more crooked than it actually is.

>> Route updated. Total about seven miles.

>> Thank you.

And then you can say goodbye.

>> Goodbye.

>> Okay. Well, you can go ahead and press start self-driving.

>> Grock probably thinks you're the most polite passenger they've ever had.

>> Why [laughter] is it called Grock? I

don't like that word. Oh, okay.

>> I mean, it's not, you know, >> it's not >> the sweetest thing.

>> Well, you know what? I didn't know either, and Susan had asked that in one of my previous videos, and one of the commenters said it was from uh was it a

novel? Yeah, a novel called Stranger in

novel? Yeah, a novel called Stranger in a Strange Land. So it's I guess grock is a verb for drinking but specifically

drinking and knowledge and learning.

>> So is this something you think Elon >> I think that's totally an Elon >> his uh >> Yeah.

>> Okay. [laughter]

>> Just something he he was into >> Oh, good for him. He's got he's got his stamp on everything, right?

>> Yeah. [laughter]

I bet Burke's going to want a Tesla after he drives yours with FSD.

>> That'd [laughter] be funny. I'm not

going to let him.

>> I'm not gonna let him. [laughter]

>> Does he do much driving nowadays?

>> No.

>> Oh, okay.

>> He really doesn't. He um He has to um go to Vegas like once every once a quarter.

>> Okay.

>> And he does not drive. He flies because now you you know you can fly long beach to Vegas 42 minutes.

>> Yeah.

>> Yeah.

>> So what's the difference between buying a Model Y rearwheel drive all-wheel drive and performance?

Rear wheel drive Model Y uses one rear motor. Cheaper, lighter, best range in

motor. Cheaper, lighter, best range in good weather, but less traction in rain or snow. All-wheel drive adds a front

or snow. All-wheel drive adds a front motor for better grip, quicker acceleration, and handling like yours with long range battery. Performance is

AWD with upgraded motors, brakes, suspension, bigger wheels, 060 in 3.3 seconds, but shortest range, and highest price.

>> Ah, shortest range, too.

>> Highest price. Yeah, I did see that range issue when I compared the models, and I'm like, And like your point was, if you're going to use FSD >> Yeah.

>> why would you need the performance, >> right? Yeah.

>> right? Yeah.

>> Yeah.

>> Yeah.

>> That's what I thought when I compared models that it looked like everything was pretty much the same except for the speed situation.

>> Gotcha.

>> Yeah. Interiors are nearly identical across those trends. Tesla keeps the premium vegan leather and audio consistent. Main diffs are in power,

consistent. Main diffs are in power, range, wheels, and brakes.

>> Huh? Yeah. I thought that my rear wheel um rearwheel drive 20 thou 2025 Model Y had less speakers than all-wheel

drive.

Right. The rearwheel drive Bodel Y has a basic 9 or seven speaker system while all-wheel drive long range and performance get the full premium 14

speaker audio with subwoofer. That's a

trim difference to save cost on the entry level.

>> Is it the same for the 2026 Model Y?

>> Yes. For 2026, Model Y in the US based RWD has nine speakers, while all-wheel drive, longrange, and performance get the premium 15 speaker system with

subwoofer. Varies by region, though.

subwoofer. Varies by region, though.

Some markets match RWD with premium.

Well, what color are you going to get that silver?

>> I like the quick silver.

>> Okay. And then you got to get the white if you like the white.

>> Yes. It's so

>> It's very pretty.

>> And do you have a problem with like sunscreen?

>> Getting sunscreen on it?

>> Yeah.

>> Um >> or do you wait and put your sunscreen on?

>> I put it on while my car is driving me.

[laughter] >> No way.

>> What do you stick your leg out and just start putting on?

>> I just do the top.

Set the light.

when I get out. Um,

>> then you put a little >> Did I put it on the back >> on your [laughter] >> Oh my gosh.

>> All the things you can do when your car drives for you.

>> Oh my gosh. [laughter]

But it doesn't So it's okay if you're doing that. It doesn't mind.

doing that. It doesn't mind.

>> Yeah.

>> I thought you really had to.

>> You used to, but up until I would say maybe a month ago, Elon said you can now text and drive as long as conditions around you were safe. Not that it's

legal, but the Tesla is allowing you to look away. Before it would always alert

look away. Before it would always alert you here if they saw your eyes were drifting or you >> I think when I did mine it, they said you have to keep your eyes.

>> Yeah. So, I think that's cool that they have that much trust in the technology that they can tell us that it's okay to not be constantly supervising. Um, it

will still alert you. I mean, I've never tried it, but if you look away for like a really long time, um, then it'll alert you. And sometimes when I'm wearing my

you. And sometimes when I'm wearing my visor after tennis, it alerts me because it can't see my eyes.

>> Um, >> it doesn't like hats load.

>> Yeah. So, you have to kind of pull it up.

>> Okay.

>> Um, >> well, that's fair.

>> Yeah. But, but yeah, no, you're you don't have to pay as much attention as you used to.

Like the car is taking another step closer to unsupervised because this is supervised.

>> So it's going to hit that hole.

>> I know. I wish it would go around these potholes.

>> Yeah.

>> Like that's like a Tesla FSD joke how it'll steer you into the potholes instead of around them.

>> So this is really interesting.

>> Am I driving you crazy that it's on chill?

>> No. Okay.

>> It feels very relaxing.

>> Okay. You're not like [snorts] Becky, I didn't even notice. I forgot. Okay, so

down there is one of the new model wise.

Um I mean you've seen them before, but they just have that light bar that I think looks pretty cool.

>> Yeah.

>> So, are you considering getting any other model besides the Y or do you have your >> Should I?

>> I don't know. Have you tried the S yet?

Well, I have the S and so my family is like, no, you should stick I mean, don't you just want another S? And I'm think I love it, but then I was thinking, well, maybe I want something a little bit

different.

>> So, I don't know. Do you know anything about the S?

>> Not a whole lot. I haven't been in one, but I know that it they just have a lot more features. Like this is a very like

more features. Like this is a very like bare bones version. Same as the three.

So, the S and the X are more luxury. And

from like videos I've seen, they they obviously like I don't know, a bigger interior. I don't know what the interior

interior. I don't know what the interior would be like of the Y compared to the S. I mean, you say the S feels bigger

S. I mean, you say the S feels bigger inside.

>> Little bit. Yeah.

>> I mean, a little bit longer is what I'm feeling. Okay. Got the width. It seems

feeling. Okay. Got the width. It seems

same. Yeah. You know.

>> Yeah.

>> And then you will have that screen that's in the front over here. So,

you'll have the two displays like that.

Yeah.

>> With the S. Yeah. And then I'm not sure what other >> I don't want the winged.

>> So that's the X. Yeah. Is there a reason why you don't want that?

>> Um >> I think those are cool.

>> Cool.

>> But I kind of feel scared we're going to hit something.

>> But I Okay, so now I'll say um >> Oh yeah.

>> Uh please take us to Elorado Tennis Center on the freeway.

But if not, it's okay.

>> Sure. Navigating to Elorado Tennis and Pickle Ball Center in Long Beach. It's

about six miles away, 12 minutes.

>> Okay. Thank you.

>> Wow, that's new. The three. Um, well, I guess yeah, it scares me with those. It

It is a cool look, but it's I I think I told you I did drive an X as a loner.

It's definitely a much bigger car.

>> And then because I park in a skinny garage, I just feel like it probably would have >> a beast. Way bigger than >> um so yeah, I guess the only re and I've

been very happy with the S. The only

reason is just because I thought I should get something different.

>> But >> we'll test drive it and see what you like better.

>> That's true. Yeah, because I I mean I don't know what the luxury features are, but I'm sure they're they're pretty nice.

>> Yeah, you're right. I probably should.

>> Yeah, >> and they just refreshed them also, just the same way they refreshed this Model Y.

>> Oh, the Y. They did the S.

>> So, they're all refreshed now.

>> Okay. Yeah, I guess I should I need to call and make or I could probably make an appointment online, huh?

>> Or you can just show up. Really?

I don't think they mind. Yeah.

>> Yeah.

>> Do you have a time frame of will you want to get it?

>> Well, it Yeah, I I need to now because like I said, the um my seat warmer is still working, but my um temperature

gauge is out.

>> So, you did get some repairs done recently to get it to drive.

>> Yes.

>> Okay.

>> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.

>> Okay. But now, like I said, the trunk is not shutting all the way.

>> Yeah.

>> And for some reason, like I it's chilly in the morning. I put it like 72 76. It

won't go there.

>> Really?

>> I know.

>> And and then the um >> the trunk is annoying.

>> And there's one other thing. So soon,

like Okay. In the next week or two.

>> So the big issue you had was the rearwheel drive system going out and then you got that fixed. Yes.

>> And now there's just these other little minor cosmetic things. Got it. But

you're still driving. Yeah, it drives just fine, which is hard >> for me, but I've just decided it's it's I don't want something more major to go wrong, >> so I want to do it before.

>> Yeah. And do you know about like the battery, how it's held up, the battery health?

>> Same battery.

>> Okay.

>> I've had the same battery.

>> Yeah.

>> In 93,000 miles.

>> 93. Okay.

>> Yeah. I just looked it up. Yeah. So,

>> um, I've been lucky, I guess, or I I don't know if that's normal or not. I

haven't really >> Well, they were saying that they go 300,000 miles now. No way.

>> Yeah.

>> I'm not sure about like when that started happening, you know, if your vehicle is included.

>> Yeah. And they have a very good warranty. I also think the warranties,

warranty. I also think the warranties, you should probably ask Grock or, you know, research it, but I think the warranties on the S and X are are higher

>> than I should. Yeah. So, maybe look into it, but I feel like I've heard that.

>> Okay. Yeah, I can definitely do that even online when I go on tesla.com.

>> Wow. I didn't think about warranties either.

>> 300,000 miles.

>> Yeah, >> that's like more than a an old Mercedes.

>> I don't know what the warranty is, but I mean it it should last about that long in general, >> but you know, you always hear stories of

Teslas dying and stuff still, you know, so there's going to be outliers and you know, lemons just like any other car car brand.

>> How do you feel on the freeway?

>> Good. Very good.

>> Was there anything made you feel cautious?

>> Um, no, cuz it just saw that car right there and that car pulled back.

>> This is a hard on-ramp for me, too, because it's so short.

>> Yeah, it's short and tight.

>> And now it's going to move me over.

Probably because I'm in chill and because we're just going to Willow.

>> Yeah.

>> Yeah. No, I like that. I'm not I think again it must be chill, you know? I'm

not the kind that would swish over, swish back, swish over, you know.

>> Some people drive that way. I just

don't, you know.

>> And if you want to suggest a lane change, you can turn the blinker on and it'll move you to the other lane and then it'll move you back when it's time to get off the freeway. Do you want to try that?

>> Sure.

>> So, you can just >> Well, but there's a car coming.

>> You can turn it on and it's not going to go right now. It's going to go.

>> But I don't want to freak that person out.

>> Yeah, I agree.

>> Here we go. So, just push down.

>> Mhm. and then it'll go when it feels safe.

>> Okay. Yeah, I didn't want to just flash that person.

>> That is something that FSD will do that I I actually forgot about because I don't drive that way. I'm I'm like you, like I'll wait till they pass and then I'll turn it on because I don't want to scare them, but FSD will turn the

blinker on pretty early.

>> Oh, okay.

>> Well, I get it from both ways. You know,

you're warning people, but you know, >> you don't want them to think I'm doing it now.

>> Yeah. You know,

>> I do like this voice activation. I don't

use it.

>> Yeah. Well, you could do other things.

So, maybe do us a short press. So, it's

not rock and say open glove box >> on the right. Do a short press.

>> Yes. Yes. It's the same button, but just a short press.

>> Open glove box.

>> Oh, you know what? I have a pin, so that wasn't a good example. Oh, okay.

>> I would have to type my pin into it. Um,

>> that's a good idea. I didn't know you could do that, so I just learned that.

So, you can unlock it. An extra lock.

>> Yeah.

>> No, wait. Let me ask you about the key.

>> So, is it true you don't have a key?

>> It's a phone key. So, your your phone is the key, >> right? Okay.

>> right? Okay.

>> Yeah. Is that how it is for you?

>> I have the app and you can do a lot with it.

>> Okay.

>> But no, I have to have a key.

>> Is your key a credit card?

>> Nope. Mine's the oldfashioned. It looks

like a little baby Lexus. It's awfully

cute, >> but [laughter] >> we'll say goodbye to it.

>> It's tiny. So, you know, it's like one of those things I have it zipped in my coin purse.

>> Uhhuh.

>> Cuz, you know, I just feel like if I just dropped it in my purse, it's I'm going to lose it.

>> Okay.

>> So, I'm glad to to just have use and I do use the app.

>> Okay. So, when we get out, I'll have you carry my phone around and you can see how it will lock once you get far enough away from it.

>> Oh.

>> Um, and it'll roll up the windows and everything.

>> Does Does yours do that when you walk away?

>> Yeah. I mean, it shuts.

>> Probably when you press the lock button, it does that.

>> I don't have to press I can just walk away.

>> Oh, okay.

>> Yeah.

>> Cool.

>> Which is crazy. Uh, cuz Burke has done that on his car. He's left his car running >> because he forgot he was he forgot that he wasn't in the Tesla.

>> Oh my god.

>> You know what I mean? Like you forgot to shut your car off. Oh yeah. You know,

you just get into habits, right?

>> That is so funny.

>> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.

>> Oh, wow.

>> So, no, I have that now. I can just >> So, I'm so glad it's just in my purse because it's, >> you know, we aren't needing purses anymore as much.

>> Yeah. I don't carry one anymore. Don't

you you just carry your phone?

>> My phone and my wallet.

>> Do you do >> And my wallet has like a little wrist strap.

>> Okay. So, do you have two wrist straps or are they together?

>> Um is it? No, it's not here. It's in the back. Um no, it's just one and I just

back. Um no, it's just one and I just It's like a wristlet basically. Yeah.

>> But your wallet is on your phone.

>> It I just My wallet can or my phone can fit in the wallet, but it's just a little bulky. So, I usually just hand

little bulky. So, I usually just hand carry. Okay,

carry. Okay, got it.

Wow.

>> And that's also a difficult merge there, too. I mean, there weren't any cars

too. I mean, there weren't any cars >> with the bike. Yeah.

>> Yeah. But other times, there was a bike.

>> No, no, no, no. Yeah, it is kind of a short >> Yeah.

>> Yeah.

>> You don't have a lot of time to see. And

then another one I can think of is when you get off the 405 on going south and you get off on Seal Beach Boulevard and make a right. Oh, that tight. Yeah.

>> Turn turn turn turn turn turn turn turn turn turn turn turn turn turn turn turn turn turn turn turn turn turn turn turn turn turn turn turn turn turn turn turn turn turn turn turn turn turn turn turn turn turn. Oh, and then you go over the

turn turn. Oh, and then you go over the bridge.

>> Yeah.

>> Um that that merge is also a really fast one. We have to get over, but there

one. We have to get over, but there could be a lot of traffic.

>> Yeah.

Wow.

This is amazing, huh?

>> It really is.

>> Do you feel like it just relaxes you more?

>> Right. It does. I'm I have no Well, I don't normally have road rage, but I do get you know, okay, do I where do I turn?

You know, you're not like having to look ahead like I can't quite see that that says Studebaker. You know,

I don't mean to scare you. I have good vision, but you know, I mean, it it takes a while.

>> I'm not scared we have FS.

>> Yeah, that's what I mean. I don't Oh, is that Studebaker? Oh, yeah. D, you know,

that Studebaker? Oh, yeah. D, you know, >> I know. You don't even have to know how to get anywhere you're going. You just

voice command it and it just takes you.

You don't have to know the direction.
