Welcome back to a slow English podcast everyone.

Today, I'm with my brother Leon and we'll be having a conversation, walking around our home a bit and having a slow English conversation and podcast.

This video will be good for shadowing, practicing your accent and your pronunciation and it'll also be clear, slow English.

So watch the whole video and let's improve your English.

So right now, you guys can see, Leon and I have just received our food.

We got takeout, right?

Yeah, we got Japanese food takeout style.

Yep, so this is our food.

Leon got a bento box.

Leon got a bento box with some rice, watermelon, chicken and beans.

And on the side, he got more chicken.

And he also has his drink here with his cup.

I got...

Let me just open it up and show you guys.

One second.

Hey guys, welcome to our slow English podcast.

So we do have food but don't worry, we'll make sure we finish chewing before we talk.

So it won't sound like we have a mouthful of food, literally.

What we'll be talking about today is just whatever comes to mind.

So it'll be completely organic and natural English conversations.

So whatever we think of, that's what we'll talk about.

What is your favorite soda?

It's gotta be anything zero calorie.

No, you have a favorite one.

So what's your favorite soda?

Vanilla Coke Zero.

That's my favorite soda.

And the first time I ever had it was in the Philippines actually.

I didn't know it existed before that.

I knew about Coke Zero, but I didn't know they had a vanilla version.

It's yellow, right?

Yeah, it's like a beige can.

Yeah, like beige-ish.

Okay, I've seen it. I think I've had it in Malaysia.

Yeah, they have it there too.

Now you can find it pretty much all over Asia, but two years ago, the first place I found it was in the Philippines.

I've never seen it in Canada, but also I never drink soda in Canada.

Do you?

Like not this much.

Now here, I have like a 20 pack of these in the fridge.

So, lowkey big back, out of zero calorie.

Yeah, actually when I was in university, I would drink a lot of Coke Zero because I would go to Costco and get like a 48 pack of Coke Zero cans.

And then I would have that for like a few months.

A few months?

What do you like to do, bro?

That probably didn't even last a month.

Well, usually one can a day is what I drink.

Yeah, I know last October or November, before I went to Ecuador, I think he bought that packet and it was at home and I drank like, I don't know, I drank like two a day or something.

We were drinking two or something a day.

And we also had the other one.

What was the other flavor?

It was Starburst.

Ice? Was it ice?

Yeah, it was ice, which is like...

Zero calorie as well.

It's like sparkling water, but flavored.

And I was having that and Coke Zero.

And I just got like literally sick because I never drank that much soda.

I just got like sick and I felt terrible.

But yeah, we have our food here.

Let me show you guys.

So this is my food.

I got beef with onion and also an egg and also some chicken.

And Leon got a bento box.

Yeah, I got a teriyaki chicken bento and there is rice.

The rice has some soy sauce with a chili powder.

Chili flakes maybe.

This is like a chili crunch, which is really popular in China.

And actually the most popular one is called Lao Gan Ma.

Was that Chinese food?

It's like a topping.

It's exactly like this red chili thing.

It's crunchy and oily chili that's used as a topping to add some heat and texture to your food.

Wait, how do you know the Chinese name to that?

Because it's crazy popular.

in China and in the States too.

Oh, and also, I don't know when this video is getting released.

So maybe we've already been to China, but we are going to China next month.

Where are we planning to go?

We're planning to go to Beijing.

I've already been to Shanghai and Hangzhou.

If I'm saying that wrong, bro, you can butcher me in the comments.

But we're going to Beijing this time.

We'll just be in Beijing probably for about a week.

So maybe I'll release this video sooner so you guys can give me recommendations on what to see in the comments.

I really want to see the Forbidden City and just try Peking Duck.

Isn't that from Beijing?

Yeah, it is from Beijing, but they do a lot of good roasted meats.

Oh yeah, I'm excited to try the food.

I've never been to China before, not even nearby in Hong Kong or Macau.

So I'm really looking forward to go to China and explore and just see the scale.

Because the cities there do not compare to any city I've been before.

They're just massive.

So I'm definitely looking forward to that.

And I'm also a big fan of a lot of Chinese technology, like DJI and Huawei.

So I want to see what they have to offer there and maybe do some shopping as well.

How's your food?

It's good. We just had some of it.

So far the food is quite amazing.

But I want to ask you a question on the topic we just talked about.

What is something you want to buy in China?

Something I want to buy?

Yeah, like you really want.

Because I know what I really want.

Two things.

Well, I do know one thing.

So DJI is coming out with a brand new mic, a new mic mini version.

And it's coming out in the middle of July.

So by the time we get to China, it'll already be released.

It might already be released there actually.

And I want to buy that when we get there.

Because I definitely know that China is going to have the best prices because DJI is based in China.

So I want to buy those when I get there.

Yeah, DJI is really one of my favorite companies.

Like in general. I really like... I

think their products are really good.

Yeah, they should sponsor us too.

Because we do use all their stuff.

But one thing I want to buy is also a DJI product.

But it's this new camera DJI is coming out with.

DJI Osmo Pocket 4 Pro.

I had the Osmo Pocket 3 and I actually filmed a lot of my first videos on that camera.

I think the first video ever on my channel was filmed with that camera.

But yeah, then I was robbed so that got stolen.

Yeah.

But now I use this camera and my phone depending on what type of video I'm filming.

But it would be nice to have that camera.

But that's one thing I want to buy.

And the second thing is I heard Huawei has a really good fitness smartwatch.

Kind of like the WOOP or the Apple Fitbit.

Yeah.

Huawei also has one.

It's called the Fit... Huawei FitWatch or WatchFit.

And they just came out with the new version, the number 5.

You had the 3 I remember.

Or we both had the number 3.

Just the one that's just a band though.

No watch.

Like no watch display, just a band.

Oh yeah.

Okay, I know that one too.

I think that one's called the band, the WatchFit band.

Who would have guessed.

But they did come out with a new like...

Because you remember your one, the 3, the WatchFit.

I didn't really like it.

If I want to get a watch, I'll just get an Apple watch so I can use it with my phone.

But if it's just going to be like a fitness tracker, like a band with no display, then I'll get whatever one.

Well, then why don't you get like a WOOP.

Or not the WOOP, but Google...

WOOP is the worst.

Google makes one that looks like a WOOP.

And also a different brand.

I can't remember exactly what it was called, but I did try it when I was in Canada.

And I didn't really like it because it was a little bit bulky, but...

That's one thing.

I don't like wearing stuff on my wrists that much, just like a hair tie and bracelet.

But I don't really like wearing watches.

It's kind of just like annoying to me.

And I always like sweat so much and it just becomes so annoying.

So I don't like wearing like anything on my wrists.

Yeah, but if you don't like that, but you do wear rings, you can get the smart ring, like the Ora ring.

Dude, those things are like massive, dude.

They just came out with a new one.

It's like the same size as that.

They're super slim.

This size.

Like you cannot...

Well, like a regular ring, right?

But is it accurate?

Completely accurate.

They're actually really nice.

But they are a little more expensive.

They're, I don't know, 400-ish dollars.

I don't know if that's like a necessity, to be honest.

But I kind of just want to know like how well my sleep is.

That's kind of the only thing I really want to know, like my sleep score.

Oh yeah.

If I'm being honest.

If I want to track a workout, my AirPods can track my heartbeat.

And they're pretty accurate.

So I can track a workout or a run or a walk and track my calories.

How many calories I burned with that.

So I kind of just want something to like see what my sleep was, like the quality of sleep.

Yeah, I would just get one of those like whoop alternatives then in China.

Because they do make a lot of them.

Yeah, I should do some more research.

If you guys have any suggestions on like Chinese tech products or like a camera or something, I do want to get like a nice, I think film or like a point and shoot digital camera.

Like something that has like a nice built-in like film grade already, like a Fuji film or something.

But like a Chinese version, let me know.

Because since we're going to China, I know they have a lot of like super good products.

And I'm just not very aware of their products since I'm not from China.

And we don't get like any Chinese advertisements and I'm not on Chinese social media.

We can't forget about Chinese fashion too, right?

Because they have clothing.

Crazy, crazy clothing as well.

Yeah, it sucks that I can't have like Douyin so I could see like Chinese social media.

But if you guys have recommendations for like clothing stores or brands and stuff in Beijing specifically, let me know as well because I'll definitely stop by those stores and see what they have.

I'll also search on like probably TikTok and stuff or Google and see like what people recommend and where they recommend to go and also where they recommend to eat.

Food, tech, fashion and also sites, historical sites.

Wait, is the Great Wall of China close to Beijing?

I think it is, yeah.

It's not far.

Let's go to the Great Wall of China.

Loki, that's actually cool.

That is one thing I really want to see.

Forbidden City, it looks amazing, beautiful.

I want to see it.

Great Wall of China?

Wow wow.

Yeah.

Loki, I should learn some Mandarin but it's so hard, it's so difficult.

I've tried to learn Korean because I mean I lived in Korea for a year.

It's difficult dude, difficult, very difficult.

It's not easy to learn a language with a different alphabet.

Yeah, that's why anyone that's like from Asia or doesn't use the Roman alphabet like Japanese people, Koreans, Chinese people, anyone that doesn't use the Roman alphabet.

Bro, good on you for learning English because I know it's difficult because I've tried to learn Korean, very difficult and vice versa.

if you're Korean, you try to learn English, it's difficult but yeah, it's good.

If you guys are learning, keep trying, keep studying, keep practicing, keep watching comprehensible videos, keep shadowing to practice your pronunciation and accent and you guys will become fluent.

Just keep trying.

Loki, I should set a goal for myself, learn Chinese.

Yeah.

That's a big goal though.

Did you hear that construction noise in the morning?

Yeah.

Like around like just before 9?

Every morning they start working No, but did you hear how loud it was?

Not that loud for me but I could hear it through my window so that's like around the building for me to hear.

Yeah, for me it's right outside my window.

It was so loud dude.

I couldn't even like, I couldn't even hear anything.

It was so loud and it's like my balcony door doesn't like block any sound.

It's like they're wide open because the sound just like goes right through it and like shakes my whole head.

Dude, it's so, so loud, so annoying but it was like I was already awake.

It was like at 8 40 a.m. so it was fine.

I usually wake up at 8 so it wasn't that bad but if it was like before 8 dude, I would low key not be impressed.

It's kind of annoying.

Yeah.

Everybody's doing construction now for some reason.

I guess this is the best time for them because it's not fully rainy season yet so it's not raining like all day long but it's also not like the middle of summer so it's not really really hot out.

So they get some cloudy weather, it's maybe 30-ish degrees.

Yeah, because they're demolishing that building and then beside us a little bit down they're building another building and then they're redoing that whole pickleball court down the street.

Yeah, so everybody's working right now.

Oh, and on the way to the pickleball court they're building another apartment building too.

Oh wow.

Even on this building they're doing renovations.

Yeah, on the roof.

Yeah, on the roof.

Then you want to go to pickleball tonight?

Saturday.

Oh, you don't want to go anywhere.

I only like doing stuff in the morning because once it's past noon I don't want to leave my house, dude.

I don't.

We can, the only reason I said tonight is because they have like an open house kind of night where people get matched up with random people.

But if you go by yourself tonight's a good night to go.

But you can go any other time and just play against Play doubles.

Yeah, we can just play together.

Sorry singles.

Yeah, so tonight was just good if you went by yourself.

But they're open any day.

They're open all day, every day of the week.

I think it's better to go in the morning because one, it's way cheaper.

It's like half the price if you go before four.

And two, it's less busy so you can just like play and stuff.

They have paddles you can rent.

I checked on them.

They have paddles and everything.

Not the one that's right here.

Yeah, I just thought they had paddles too.

If it's really fun and we like pickleball, obviously I'll just buy a paddle.

But I don't know if I like it yet or not.

Well, it's just like slow tennis, right?

That's pretty much what it is.

Oh, but people love it, dude.

People love, love pickleball.

I met this guy in Thailand in Chiang Mai.

He was a Spanish guy that was living there and he was obsessed with pickleball.

He talked about it like every day and he played it every day as well.

And I was like, before that, I didn't even know like what pickleball really was.

Like I knew the name, but even now I don't even know exactly how to play it.

I just know they have like...

It's like table tennis mixed with tennis and they put it together because the paddle is like a big table tennis paddle.

And then the ball is like, I think it has holes in it.

So then if you hit it, it doesn't go super far.

So it's easy to play.

I think I would like it.

I think it would be fun and it's like so easily accessible.

So no matter where you go, there's going to be a table tennis court.

When I was in Malaysia, I stayed in that apartment we stayed at.

They had a pickleball court right at the bottom of the apartment.

Big pickleball court.

There's courts everywhere.

And then the second place I stayed when I went back to Malaysia, they had a pickleball court that was like pretty much part of the building.

I feel like most apartments or at least the ones I went to had like pickleball courts very close or like pretty much attached to the apartments because I guess people just love pickleball.

I wonder for how many years it's been around like being this popular because I feel like it's probably always been around, but not like this popular.

Well, I think in Asia, it's always been popular.

Really?

Yeah.

The first time I noticed like pickleball actually being popular was in Asia.

Like in Canada, I've heard about it and I've seen that I can go play it sometimes, but people don't really talk about it there.

It's not something you'll see on social media or walking down the street.

But now it is.

Oh, here in like a 20 minute walk from where we are, there's probably like six to ten courts.

Literally dude.

That you can go to.

Maybe it's just because the area we live in is like mostly residential, but there are so, so many pickleball courts like all around us.

Like I was like so surprised when I first came here.

I was like, why are there so many pickleball courts?

It's crazy.

Yeah.

But hey, if it's fun, it's fun.

That's what I want to try.

But I also want to do boxing, but I asked Leon what he wanted for his birthday.

His birthday just passed.

If he wanted a pickleball membership or like a membership to boxing he chose pickleball.

Yeah.

So next month will be like a boxing gym, because I want to start boxing because I've already been going to the gym or we've already been going to the gym, like weightlifting for probably a month and a half now.

But now we'll start something new.

So this month will be pickleball.

Next month will be boxing.

But we'll keep doing the other things as well.

So yeah, now we're going to just wipe the table But I am super excited for China.

I think China will be so, yeah, so amazing.

I'm looking forward to it.

Honestly, I'm probably looking forward to it more than any country I've been to so far.

Honestly, two countries I want to go to like the most, the two countries I want to go to the most, the most.

Like I've already traveled a lot.

I've seen a lot of countries.

So going to like a new place isn't like super exciting for me.

But two countries that I am excited to go to are China and India.

Those two countries.

India is going to be crazy.

China and India.

But I want to go experience it.

Obviously, you see what you see online.

There's a lot of different opinions online about any country you go to.

I want to go see and experience it for myself.

It was like with Brunei for me.

I heard a lot of things with Brunei.

It's like they had like Sharia law there and stuff.

And I wanted to go experience it for myself.

And when I went there, it was nice.

I really enjoyed it.

I'm good.

I was there like during Ramadan.

So it was very festive and a really enjoyable country to go to.

Although I did spend way too long there.

I was there for a week. too long?

because the country is so tiny.

Like you could see everything in two, three days.

So one week was a little bit too long, especially during Ramadan, because a lot of things were closed during the day.

But it was still really enjoyable.

And I would go back there because they do have some of the nicest like nature preserves. Oh, really?

preserves. Oh, really?

Yeah, on the island of Borneo.

So I'd like to go see the animals they have there.

Like Orangutans and crocodiles and stuff.

But yeah, you have to go experience places for yourself.

Right.

Honestly, everything I've seen online about India just makes me want to go more.

it just seems really interesting.

And same thing with China.

Those two countries make me like really want to go explore it.

Those two countries are huge.

So I'll definitely go back probably more than once.

because I know China is huge.

India is huge.

And I love Indian food and I love Chinese food.

So the food is amazing.

The countries are like mysterious, kind of like something like I want to explore.

It's kind of like an adventure.

You know, it kind of feels like the first time I ever traveled.

I feel like I have that feeling with those two countries.

So I do want to explore those two countries, meet the people, travel around and do everything like that.

So I think that will be really exciting.

OK, so what are we doing right now?

OK, so Foko was complaining that his computer had issues with Wi-Fi connection.

So I wanted to go see if I could troubleshoot it.

And the first thing I did was update his OS.

Yeah, low key.

To the newest OS because he was still on the previous generation.

So he's now fully updated.

And I mean, I don't know if if you have like slowdown issues, but having so many things run in the background is like not good.

Delete it.

Yeah, that's one thing I guess.

I never updated it for a long time because I always saw like, oh, update, update.

I'm like, no, because one, every time I'm on my computer, I'm working.

So I don't really have time to just let it upgrade or update.

Sorry, because it takes like a long time.

And two, I don't know.

I guess I just think if I upgrade it, Apple is going to make my computer worse because they were sued for that in the past.

And it was a thing they were doing.

They were slowing down like their Apple products.

But I guess they don't do it anymore because they were sued for that.

That's that's yeah, they don't do it anymore.

But yeah, but they did do it in the past.

I honestly, I should have updated it I don't know why I didn't update it, but it looks a lot better now.

Now they have the liquid glass display.

It looks a lot better.

Yeah. Anyway, he also has an issue with everything turning on when he turns on his computer.

So I'm going to show him how to turn that all off because Yeah, like all my all my apps or tabs or everything I have open every time.

And I also like never shut down my computer.

Sometimes if it's like really slow, I'll restart it.

But yeah, so yeah, we're just going to sort this out, clear up the stuff.

On my computer.

Hopefully that makes it faster because my Wi-Fi connection has been like really bad.

Like it's good if I come here in the living room since the Wi-Fi router is right there.

But it's really bad for my room and everything is like super slow, which is like just really annoying.

So hopefully this fixes it.

If not, I'm going to have to download all my information from my computer onto my SSD or onto the cloud and then wipe my computer clean and have like a completely fresh slate.

Yeah.

Because having that bad Wi-Fi connection is so annoying.

Yeah, I'm going to give you some or make you download some apps that make your laptop experience so much better.

Because there's a lot of apps that really help out like look at this app.

Why do we have the same background?

no, mine rotates.

But look at this app.

So this app basically just formats your page, your So this app basically just formats your page, your homepage, so you can see everything at once So for me...

I feel like maybe it was giving me a lot of issues because I just simply didn't update it since I've had this, which is like almost a year.

Moral of the story.

What is your favorite brand for technology?

How do we get to that?

It's a question.

For me?

No, for them.

Oh.

Yeah, for you.

Answer.

Put it down in the comments.

My favorite brand is probably Apple.

I'm pretty well invested into the Apple ecosystem.

So I use a lot of items from the Apple ecosystem, but there's also the Samsung ecosystem or the Huawei ecosystem or even just the Android slash Windows combo that's very popular.

It's just not as seamless for me.

Yeah, I just find that like one of the best portable computers out there is the MacBook Pro.

Like for video editing and stuff like that.

The MacBook Pro I think is very hard to beat.

And when you couple that with like the whole ecosystem, it just makes sense to just get the MacBook Pro and then also have the iPhone, the AirPods and whatever other thing because then it all works together.

because then it all works together.

But the main reason I switched to Apple was for the laptop because through all my research, searching like what's the best laptop for like video editing and like working remotely and stuff.

It was the MacBook Pro all the time.

MacBook Pro, MacBook Pro, MacBook Pro.

So I got the MacBook Pro and with that, I was like, OK, my next phone, I'll just get iPhone.

My earbuds, I'll get the AirPods.

So it's just like natural to just get everything from Apple because of that.

You know, yeah, it makes sense.

Anyway, I hope you guys liked this slow English podcast.

We talked about different things.

We talked about travel, technology or preferences.

Whatever questions we asked, you guys can also answer them either by recording yourself with your phone or by answering them in the comments.

Make sure to watch this video again to practice your pronunciation and accent.

And this time, try to answer the questions as we ask them as well and record yourself because when you record yourself, you'll be able to go back in a couple of months and see how much you have progressed.

So hope you guys like this video and remember, you will become fluent in English.

Bye guys.

Peace.
