Hello everyone. So, this vlog is a
little bit of a different format. I
really wasn't planning any of it. I had
nothing organized or arranged, but as I
was recovering from food poisoning and
being really sick one day, I got a call
from my dad suddenly and we had a family
emergency. So, I booked the first flight
straight back to Sydney. Honestly, I had
a lot of mixed emotions on this flight
and I was just really tired for the most
part. But as soon as I got off the
flight, I was looking for my dad and I
found him.
>> I'm with Papa Chen.
>> Hi everyone.
>> I spent the first night just catching up
with family and being really shocked at
how empty my room was compared to what I
remembered it to be. Let's get under the
blanket.
I woke up this morning like, where am I?
So confused. I'm not even going to lie.
It's such a weird familiar but
unfamiliar feeling to be here. Like I
feel like I just stepped into another
reality. But I'm about to head to the
city. I've got a few errands to run.
I've got to renew my license. I've got
to sort out my SIM situation, which if
you guys have been following for a
while, you'll know that that's been like
a whole issue. And then I'm going to pop
into the office, catch up with my
bosses. I don't know if my team's going
to be in cuz I actually haven't told
them that I'm going to come in. I'm just
going to rock up unannounced with some
snacks, some goodies, and then later on
I'll catch up with a few friends. Dad is
currently driving me to the station so
that I can catch a train to the city.
That is one thing about Japan that's
better that well Tokyo in particular
that it's such a walkable city. I do so
much walking and the trains and the
public transport is so much more
convenient.
>> Yeah. Whereas here, if you're not in
like a major area, a busy neighborhood,
and you don't have a car, then it's
really difficult, isn't it?
>> Yeah. But why is the cap so expensive
the other day when you were saying, "Oh,
but then again,
>> because Okay, because when it's past a
certain time,
>> Yeah. they charge. Taxis are very
expensive. They're search charge."
>> No, but in general, I think taxis in
Japan are very expensive, but walking is
good in Tokyo. Trains are good. The
subway is good. The I don't really catch
the bus, but I've heard it's good.
Apparently, I missed the 40° weather.
And today has cooled down, which is very
nice. When I landed yesterday, the sky
was so beautiful.
>> I saw your thing.
>> Yeah, it was like blue, pink, yellow.
It's my favorite type of sky. I almost
forgot how to catch the train. I was
like on my phone. I'm like, should I use
Google Maps? What app should I use? And
I remembered there's an app called Trip
View. You know, now my viewer ratio is
mostly Japanese.
>> Oh, really?
>> So, I'm pretty Yeah, it's surprising,
right? I'm pretty keen to show them my
old
like daily view around the city.
>> I swear it hasn't actually been that
long, but I almost forgot how to catch
the train because I was meant to
exchange trains, but I nearly forgot to
get off. But anyways, I made it into the
city and it was such a nice vibe. I
actually forgot how crisp the air is.
I'm about to head into the office and
surprise my colleagues.
It was my first time going to the office
in so many months and I hadn't seen the
renovations of this half of the lobby
which was crazy. It looks so much better
now compared to before. And then I went
upstairs and surprised my team with some
goodies and spoke with them for a little
bit. But then I had to go and meet my
boss who was somewhere else. He was at a
cafe. So I went to see him and this is
my reaction. He's actually the best boss
ever. Even though we communicate almost
every day on emails or messages, we
actually very very rarely call. So I
think it was a bit of a shock to him
when I told him that I was going to be
in Sydney suddenly. Currently having a
little catch up with my boss and it
feels weird. I kind of feel like a
tourist almost, but I'm just admiring
all the beautiful scenery, even though
it's something that I used to see on a
daily basis, but it is nice. We decided
to head up for a quick lunch. This place
has been on my radar for a while. It's
called Grandfathers, and it's actually
done by the same team as Clamar, Pelgro,
and Neptune Scott. And one of my other
colleagues actually did the deal for
this place. So, I really wanted to check
it out. I had heard good things and my
boss had been here a couple of times.
The food honestly was so good. Service
was incredible. And then I did my
errands around the city since I was
going to only be there for one day. Did
a little bit of retail therapy. Had to
go check out a few Australian classic
brands including Kokai for my basics and
Mecca for my beauty products.
>> Wait, so we're going to have dinner.
Have you been here before?
>> No, I haven't. First time at the moment.
The restaurant is still closed, so we're
gonna go walk around Chip andale for a
little bit, catch up, and then we can
eat.
>> Eat and yap.
>> Eat and yap. A lot of a lot of yapping
today.
>> Yes.
>> Last time I saw her was our girls trip.
>> Girls trip.
>> Yeah. So, it's been a few months. Lots
to catch up on.
>> To me, it feels like yesterday.
>> Honestly, even when she was in Sydney,
we'd catch up like once every 3 months.
>> Yeah. Months. So, this is normal.
>> It's like I never left.
>> Yeah, exactly. Oh, maybe we should ask
for recommendations. Maybe that's the
best way to approach this. I'm going to
look at the dessert.
>> Me, too.
>> The desserts sounds good.
>> Hello.
>> Hi. How are we?
>> We're good.
>> That's a very good place to be here.
>> We're We're hungry.
>> Hungry is good. Absolutely.
>> And we want to know what you recommend.
>> Do we want to go? Do we want to go seven
this evening?
>> How you feel? We definitely want to get
the potato bread. friends
you might want to try.
[Music]
>> Okay. All right. We'll do that. And then
the blood sausage sanger too. Oh, am I
am I going too fast? Okay. Okay.
>> The potato breads, the peas, the
oysters.
>> How many oysters do you want?
>> Ah, how many do you want?
>> Half dozen.
>> Yeah. Half a dozen.
>> Half dozen. The sangers.
>> Yeah. One.
>> One each. The curds. Is that enough or
should we get one more thing?
>> You want to pair it with something like
my favorite dish.
>> Oh, let's do that.
>> I do love eggplant.
>> Yay.
>> Amazing. Yay. Thank you. Thank you so
much.
>> Thank you so much.
>> Thank you.
>> We're going to have a look now.
>> I really missed the service in
Australia. I miss Australian culture.
You should come back. Should I?
Cheers.
[Music]
Just what I needed. Where are you?
You're not even in the frame.
>> If you guys get the chance to go to
Sydney or if you do live in Sydney, make
sure you check out Esther restaurant. It
is one of my faves. I've been here a
couple of times and they do really good
quality Australian dishes. And they
recently got awarded two hats again for
the Australian Good Food Guide. So, it's
really good.
>> I've been Oh my god, that's really
annoying. I've been really craving an
asai bowl and also yogurt, Australian
yogurt, but dad saved me some at home so
that I can enjoy a little bit later. But
right now, we are going to Fruitologist,
which does like the best asai bowls, one
of the best. And then we are going to do
the Baywalk, which dad has never done
before, even though he's lived here his
whole life and he drives past it like
every day. Can't believe you've never
done it.
So, I'm going to make him do it today.
Get some steps in. Let's go. So,
Frutolus is actually a grocery store in
Roselle, but they're known for their
asai and smoothie bowls. Just trust me
on this one. Do you know what you're
getting?
>> Hey, can I get the Angus grass-fed um
>> burger?
>> And I'll have the organic asai bowl.
>> What drink?
>> Um and can I get a long black?
>> I'm not even going to lie. It wasn't
until after I sat down that I realized I
didn't add any peanut butter or like
some type of sauce to go with this. So,
I was eating this. I'm like, something
feels like it's missing. But, you know
what? It's probably for the best because
peanuts and peanut butter is quite
inflammatory and I was still trying to
get rid of that pimple that was on my
face. So, probably for the best anyway,
but it was still very delicious and
honestly all I needed. And then I went
to get cookies. We're also getting
butter boy cookies. We got butter boy
cookies. Yay.
>> I think it's about 7 km around the whole
lap and like 10 or 11,000 steps. So, dad
and I just yapped the whole way. We
caught up on life and it was really
nice.
My family actually had the longest day
and we were tired, but I knew my time
was limited, so I made sure dad and I
went out for a nice dinner. I'm taking
dad to my favorite restaurant in Sydney.
It's called Auntie in New Town, and it's
a sake bar. I actually featured it in my
vlog exactly this time last year with
Cindy, but it's dad's first time here
and such a nice vibe. We're just waiting
for a table now. Do you have an appetite
after the walk?
>> Oh, big time. And it's it's the best way
to wind down with a glass of beer. Can't
wait to try the food.
>> Incredible atmosphere with jazz music
playing in the background. Amazing
cocktails and the food is topnotch. You
really cannot ask for anything better.
>> This is my favorite one. It's a fried
mushi. Potato mushi.
Cheers.
[Music]
>> Good.
>> I should also mention that they don't
take reservations. It's walk-in only,
but trust me, it is worth the wait.
>> Is it weird if I use chopstick?
>> I guess you can use either. It's pasta,
but like the Asian and they just want to
use chopsticks for this like noodles.
[Music]
>> Good morning. I stayed up quite late
watching Roam Mango. I still haven't
finished the video, so I'm like
continuously watching as I get ready,
but currently waiting for the girls to
come over. We're going to do a little
morning day in Bondi. There's a new what
is it? like a health health food
store/cafe
or I don't know. It's called Common
Supply and it has such good ratings and
reviews online. So, I've been wanting to
check that out and then do a little hot
girl walk. I'm so excited to see the
girls. This is Yuki.
I had to drive by the way because the
girls are too tired to drive.
>> Mommy's coming back. I'll
>> get you a leash, baby.
>> We're looking for a leash for you.
Oh, she'll be back. She
>> guys, what do we do? Like, oh my god,
>> we're babysitting right now.
>> Oh my god.
>> Dog sitting.
>> We're dogsitting.
>> No, but she's a good doggy.
>> Guess who's back.
>> Hi.
>> Is it this?
>> Another brand new joint that's been on
my radar for a little while. It's called
Common Supply. It's a cafe cross between
an organic marketplace in the heart of
Bondi and it is right up my alley.
They've got smoothies, they've got
toasties, they've got just a bunch of
goodies.
>> The girls are reunited.
>> Yeah, except Tracy's outside right now.
>> Tracy's outside with you. So, we're
going to order first
>> strawberry smoothie.
Yeah, I think it's like yogurt and
there's like jam.
>> I missed Australian yogurt so much.
>> Not yet. But dad got me like a huge tub,
so I'll have it for dinner tonight. The
whole the whole tub.
>> The top juice one.
>> Top juice. I was going to say
>> it's the best one. It's thick and it's
not sweet. It's like a bit tangy,
>> but it's the perfect consistency.
Whereas here it's going to taste like
ketchup as well.
>> Oh, you bring it home. It's the best.
>> Japanese yogurt is trash.
>> It's watery.
>> After a brief little yap sesh, we
decided to head down to the beach.
>> Come.
>> We're literally holding her on a rope.
>> Y forgot the leash today. So, this was
the makeshift like leash and collar
situation.
>> Pretty pretty good. So, we found a
collar. Where did you guys find it?
>> We had to go all the way to like a
Woolly's Metro. It's like a mini
Woolly's like a mini supermarket.
>> Woolly's is Wworth.
>> Yes.
>> For my Japanese viewers.
>> The slang. The Aussie slang.
>> Yes. Aussie slang. Woollies. And then we
got a rope. Come on. Come on. Okay. I
heard that week the Sydney weather was a
little bit whack. It was a bit all over
the place. So the day before I arrived
it was really warm and hot and sunny.
But then when I arrived it actually
cooled down heaps. though it wasn't warm
enough to swim at the beach, but we went
for the coastal walk, which I actually
featured in my Bondi vlog from a few
months back. So, go check that one out
if you haven't already. And then, of
course, I had to get Yi.
>> Yay, I got Yi.
>> Yay.
>> Absolutely have to get the cookie cake
and the brownie. It is the law. It's a
must.
M.
>> And since I was already here, I had to
pop into some of these gorgeous
Australian boutiques.
And just like that, my trip to Sydney is
already over. There was a lot that I
didn't vlog and I didn't film because,
as I mentioned, I did not come here for
the purpose of filming content, but it
was amazing to see my friends and family
again. And as for traditions, you know,
I had to grab a macaron on my way out.
