One of the best AI tools for academics and researchers has just got even better because Research Rabbit has had an awesome upgrade. And there are loads of

awesome upgrade. And there are loads of little things that you need to know about that I'm going to show you in this video. And oh, it is a pleasure to use.

video. And oh, it is a pleasure to use.

Check this out. So now when you log into Research Rabbit, it looks like this.

Look at the sexy upgrade. Now everything

you can do in the past, you can still do with a few extras. Now there's going to be something in here that may annoy some of you. This button up here, upgrade.

of you. This button up here, upgrade.

Oh, didn't they tell me it would be free forever?

>> Well, good news for you. Everything you

used to be able to do will remain completely free and is completely free here. They've made it even better. And

here. They've made it even better. And

if you wanted to, you can upgrade to get a few more awesome options. But that's

completely optional. And that's why I still love Research Rabbit. The team

have worked hard at delivering, I think, one of the best literature searching tools out there for academics that's completely free. So, the first thing you

completely free. So, the first thing you got to do is find literature. Well,

there's a couple ways you can do that.

The first way and the most sort of like useful if you're starting a fresh is here. You can put a title, a document

here. You can put a title, a document object identifier or a keyword in here or keywords and then it will give you new stuff. So if I want beards then I

new stuff. So if I want beards then I can go in and click search and you'll see that the interface has changed for the better. Do you remember research

the better. Do you remember research rabbit used to spew out words and papers and it used to be so confusing but now we have got an interface that makes

actual sense. This is what it looks

actual sense. This is what it looks like. So now this is all of the papers

like. So now this is all of the papers that it found. It's like, okay, where do I want to start? 1 to 10 of 389,000.

[laughter] Okay, we'll just do the first one. So you can see down here we've got

one. So you can see down here we've got similar papers, we've got references, or we've got cited by. So let's do similar.

And then this is where the magic really happens. So you can see here that this

happens. So you can see here that this is the map that's been created. Now

there's a few things in here that have changed that are very, very important.

The first thing is you get this first sort of like um completely customizable map. And what I mean by more

map. And what I mean by more customizable is that down here now you've got more citations and more recently published. So anything up here.

recently published. So anything up here.

Oh, I'd want to know about that, wouldn't I? Because it's recent and

wouldn't I? Because it's recent and highly cited. Um but I can change these.

highly cited. Um but I can change these.

You click on it and then you can change whether you want site count. You can

also change the log base, whether or not it's linear or logarithmic. You've got

reference count, publication date, and also you can change things like the size, what it means, what each of these bubbles means, fixed, reference count, and then you've got advanced as well.

So, you can actually create the map of your dream, something you couldn't do in Research Rabbit, and you can now do this thing where you can move it around, but down here it says position and moved.

You click on that and you can reset it back to where it was. So, all of that awesome uh juggling of the balls [laughter] still happens, but you can reset it to

what you want. So this is awesome. And

what if we want to go deeper? So now

this panel over here is where you get to go deeper. So I can click any paper on

go deeper. So I can click any paper on this side. It will pop up on the right

this side. It will pop up on the right here. And then I can dive deeper on this

here. And then I can dive deeper on this article that I've selected. Similar

references cited by. If I click here, you've also got advanced settings, but you need to pay money for it. may be

worth it to you to pay for these um because you can put keywords, publication date, the quartiles, whether you want something in quartile one, which is the journal ranking, which is what you want, journal, h index, open

access, or retractions, which are very important, especially if you're new to a research field and you're not quite sure if research stands up to the peer review process as well as it should. Well, you

can find retractions at the click of a button, but you don't need to do that.

All you have to do is click on these if you don't want to pay and that is powerful enough. Um, and yeah, let's go

powerful enough. Um, and yeah, let's go here. Similar bonk. Okay. And now we're

here. Similar bonk. Okay. And now we're in another page. But you're asking yourself, "Oh, Andy, what if I wanted to go back?" Well, they've made it really

go back?" Well, they've made it really easy because they've got this cute little animation at the top. So, you can see as I've been searching, I have been creating new little rabbit holes that this cute little rabbit's popping up in.

So, here popped up here. If I wanted to go back, I can go here. There he is. He

does a little blink as well. Oh, that's

cute, isn't it? Anyway, so now we're back here and uh yeah, that's really it.

So now you can actually save these into a library so you can reference them later. So let's go back to the end here

later. So let's go back to the end here and let's say that I wanted these papers I really really like the look of. And

you can see it gets added to this list over here. And then I can save it to any

over here. And then I can save it to any collection that I've created. I'll put

it into unsorted at the moment. And you

can see tick tick tick, they get added to that unsorted. And I can go and check that out in a minute. And that's exactly what we'll be doing, by the way. Spoiler

alert. And then we can uh yeah, just keep on going. So clear those. They're

now in my reference. You can see they're in uh this. They've changed color, and that color relates to the color of the collection that they're in. Um and yeah, I can just keep on going. Follow your

nose. It's an adventure for you, for research rabbit, for everyone. And then

once I'm done, you can see here I can click out of here. Finish searches. I've

saved. Uh let's have a look. two I've

selected that I've not saved. Oh yeah,

let's uh let's add those to unsorted and then I can click finish and then we're back to the beginning again. Absolutely

love it. So let's go back to the homepage because it gets even better.

All right, then let's look at your library. So over here we've got your

library. So over here we've got your library and you've got collections. So

here are the five unsorted that I've just created. And then I could decide to

just created. And then I could decide to put these in a particular collection just by clicking on this button here.

And then I can say, okay, yeah, I'm going to put it into OPV additives, which it's not. I'm just going to remove it out to unsorted because that would annoy me, even though I don't really care about this. Um, and then you can see all of the different collections

that I've created. I've got OPV additives, transparent electrode materials, and all of my research that I've published. Now, here's the thing is

I've published. Now, here's the thing is maybe you want to use something in here to find other papers. Well, that's

brilliant as well. OPV additives, let's say, okay, I want this one. And then you get the same thing. You get a paper and you also get a deeper dive on this article. Let's look for cited by. So,

article. Let's look for cited by. So,

I'm looking for all of the papers that cited this paper here. You can see that.

Yep, this is great. Most recently

published more citations. Oh, 2024. I'd

want to know about that one, wouldn't I?

Click on that one. Save it to OPV additives. Great. It's now in my

additives. Great. It's now in my collection. Does it get any easier and

collection. Does it get any easier and dare I say it even fun searching the literature? I think Research Rabbit have

literature? I think Research Rabbit have just done an absolutely great job and the team have been a pleasure to sort of interact with as they've been developing this. So, I absolutely love it. Now,

this. So, I absolutely love it. Now,

okay, let's get out of here. Oh, there's

one thing I want to show you actually.

Now, if you want to change this little rabbit search, so we're on this rabbit search. Let's just say, okay, we want to

search. Let's just say, okay, we want to do similar and say, oh, actually, I didn't want to do similar. You can click on this tab up here and then you can change the actual search settings. So,

let's h have a look at this little rabbit hole that we're in at the moment.

We can go up here and we can say actually I was looking for authors, other related authors, and then save it.

And then it will change that little rabbit hole into the authors. Um, which

is great. No. Okay, let's go back. Uh,

authors save.

Save.

Save.

All right, there we go. I couldn't do it in the last one for some reason, but I can do it in this one. And look, look what happens. There's [laughter] a

what happens. There's [laughter] a little ring, like a little uh uh what do you call it? Like a seance, like some sort of weird uh thing where it's like

>> like a cult gathering around this paper.

I love it. I mean, because if academia isn't a cult, then what blooming is, that's what I I want to know. So anyway,

there we are. This is the the funny um uh cultlike um author search. And then

you can click on these search uh these authors and you can see who's what they've published or any collaborators.

[laughter] That was God. Oh, I hope I can go back.

Look, I click on this guy and he's got 666 collaborators. [laughter]

666 collaborators. [laughter] Yes, that was completely unplanned. I

love it so much. The mark of the devil.

All right, let's move on. Let's not get distracted. That worked out so well. All

distracted. That worked out so well. All

right, then. So, here we are. [laughter]

Good. So, there's the search. There's

the library. Research Rabbit has just made searching literature fun, intuitive, and free. So overall, I really cannot recommend the current

version what they've done. And look,

here's Deagle. He is great. I love

Deagle. He's such, look at his cute little face down here. Him and the team have done us such a great job at really sort of like modernizing Research Rabbit, keeping the important bits free.

But yeah, we've all got to eat. We've

all got to employ developers to make this a better tool. So, of course, they want some money. And I really think that the upgrade is completely worth it. um

if you want access to all of the awesome sort of advanced searches and you want more than one um project here. So

overall that's great. And then let's have a look up here account settings.

One of the things I really like about it is that in preferences you can see you can connect your libraries. So you can link a Zotterero and other things as well. So, they've really kept the

well. So, they've really kept the important things at the front of the process and uh yeah, overall I I think this is a bloody fantastic tool and pretty much every single researcher

should be using it. There we are. A

blooming said it. Let me know what you think in the comments. If you like free research tools, go check out this one where I talk about the seven best free research tools that you should know about. Go check it out.

about. Go check it out.
