well hey everybody it's your good budy 650 e here welcome home to the channel today I'm going to be doing a full unboxing and review of the BMW connected
ride smart glasses yes these amazing glasses can be used with any modern BMW that has the 6.5 in or larger TFT screen
so that means my beautiful M1 th000 and r1250 GS Adventure can use these smart glasses so uh let's get inside and get
these things unboxed pretty nice box on the side you have the serial number and other important information
and once you carefully pry open the box be careful when you're removing the top because the smart glasses are right
inside and a very nice super sturdy carrying case with a clip on it so you can latch it on
to whatever you want super stury inside we have the smart glasses and a protective
pouch which also doubles as something you could clean the lenses with cuz it's just that
soft but yeah very attractive glasses you see there the mechanism for the headup display we'll talk more about this in a
second inside the super sturdy carrying case you also have tinted lenses and I will show you just how easy it is to
swap the lenses so this is really cool because if you're riding your bike on a sunny day you can have the tinted lenses in and if you have the case with you at
night you can swap them out for the clear lenses really thoughtful and there's even a additional spot inside the case where you can put the USBC
charging cable we'll talk about that too I like that all right back to the packaging underneath if you lift this
up on this side we have nose pads these will come in handy there are three different sizes I'd like to call it small medium
and large for the nose pads we will discuss that too and on this side we have uh the USBC charging cable inside this nice neat
packaging set that over there and then we have a very quick getting started guide It's one-sided nothing's on the
back with a QR code that you could scan to access this digitally and that's it for the super nice packaging let's put this all together
here all right let's talk about the glasses really nice and sturdy they come in two sizes medium and large this one is large
because I have a large head but they are really really nice um let's talk about how you can easily swap these nose pieces all right because you want to
make sure that a the glasses are very comfortable when you're wearing them and B that they are the correct distance from your eye so that you can see the
information in the head-up display all right so first thing we want to do is want to remove these
guys and then you'd select one of the three sizes now for me I'm going to go with the largest size super easy to place them on the glasses you want to
make sure that they are are facing the correct way which is outward and they simply slide right on there
done so now we have that super super cool and I mentioned earlier we would talk about the lenses these are brand new lenses so
they have a protective covering on them I'm not going to remove those just yet but of course before you wear these you want to remove this
um very quickly okay but to remove the lens you hold it nice and firm and you pull upward and The Lens comes right out
all right so we'll do it from this side pull this side the side closest to the arm up comes right out take one of the other
lenses and there's a little slot right in there where it slides in nice and
easy there it's in and you do the same for the other side see that right there when you are
charging the smart glasses it has a magnetic end that goes onto the left side of the
glasses and it simply attaches like so boom as I mentioned it's magnetic so so being magnetic it can come off kind of
easily so there once it's on it's on and then you would attach this into a wall mount and it's a simple USB uh does come
with this awesome adapter you can remove it and then you can uh use it USBC when you're charging the LED light on the
side will illuminate red and once it's fully charged it will illuminate green and to turn on the smart glasses there is a button right here on the same side
left side of the arm you press it once single tap and now you see the LED is blinking
blue once I actually connect this to my phone it will blink white and that is the exact light that will flash red when
charging and green when fully charged all right to put the glasses in standby mode you simply tap really quickly one more time and now it goes
into standby mode and to turn off the glasses you long press on them until you no longer see that led light and also
through the head-up display a red light a red powering off symbol comes on as well so now let's connect the BMW connected rid smart glasses to our phone
and then to the motorcycle so first you want to download the BMW motor rod Connected app you can find that in the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store
once it's launched scroll down to connectivity Hub single tap on it next you want to power on your smart
glasses by tapping the power button you will see a flashing blue light on the side and then you want to place your smart glasses on your head and go back
to your phone and tap on connect new device it is going to find your BMW glasses tap on
that and it's going to display a number on the head-up display in my case it's 0 27765 27765 hit pair and it is actually paired it is
that simple and the glasses on the head-up display will uh will read connected it is absolutely cool guys to see that all right so now that we're
connected there's still so much that we can do we want to tap on our device right there and now as you see right here we can actually move the head-up
display in the glasses to various points to where it's going to be seen through the smart glasses it could be a the top right the bottom right you can move it
over to the left this is just absolutely cool you can move it up top and this is this is happening real time this is actually what I
see in the smart glasses as I move this guy around guys this is amazing totally amazing so you can choose layout one or layout
two oh wow that's pretty cool so you can't see this very well but that number that is uh in the red box that is the posted speed limit next to it is your
actual speed next to that would be your gear indicator below that you would have your navigation and uh really cool stuff it even shows you the road that you're
supposed to turn on when you are using the navigation but I prefer layout one and you can also select
mini or Max nav so if you don't want a tremendous amount of information you would select many and right now it's only showing me the posted speed limit
the actual speed and my gear and then if I click on Max it's showing me the navigation and everything else this is absolutely amazing
guys all right but now that I have this connected oh we can scroll down here you can actually change the brightness of the head-up display you
could turn it on automatic brightness if you want your speed warning you could set that up too to let you know when you're speeding so this is very helpful
information the fact that you can have in your head up display a speed warning to tell you when you're exceeding the speed limit to helpfully hopefully help
you avoid tickets that is absolutely amazing I'm going to keep mine I don't like the automatic brightness so I'm going to keep mine at
about yeah about 100% cuz it looks just and it's so clear guys it is really amazing all right so I've taken you through all of the features and how to
connect now what we can do we're going to go outside in the garage we're going to connect to my BMW m1000rr so now that we have the smart glasses paired to our phone we are now going to pair the phone
to our BMW motorcycle and we're going to use our wheel here and uh the menu button to press down on the menu we're going to scroll over to
settings press down on settings we're going to go to connections we're going to go to mobile
device and we will pair new mobile device go to our phone our bluetooth
settings and as you can see it found my s23 ultra we'll click on that confirm we'll hit pair on the phone and we're going to let the motorcycle do
the rest we'll hit allow and now as you can see in our
mobile devices my s23 ultra is paired to the motorcycle so now I can go into the Connected app right
there while that's working we're going to power up the smart glasses we're going to look for a blue there it
is and it automatically connects you can see here in the connect connectivity Hub that it automatically connected to the glasses still waiting on it to load the
image but it does have my motorcycle the m1000 r shows it's connected we can tap on the Hub there we can tap on the glasses and we see everything that we
did when we were going through setup so now our smart glasses are ready to wear and ready to be used on our beautiful m1000rr it's finally time for me to
actually hit the road and test these glasses out now because we have a surprise visit from the Sun today here in filthy Cleveland I'm going to swap the clear lenses for the tinted lenses
okay guys I have the glasses on and what I can see right now is there's a big uh dash for the regulated speed limit because it's not displaying anything I
can see that I'm going 0 m an hour and I'm in neutral there's a big beautiful Green in displayed in these amazing glasses I'm going to give the m1000 it's
cold start very cool it still shows that I'm in neutral
wow these are very very nice um the feel of them now that I have the helmet on they feel great the little black tips on the arms they
are adjustable so if it's a bit tight you can definitely make some adjustments but the way it's set up right now for me is just fine so my first few miles with the smart
glasses and I can tell you they're very very comfortable the glasses themselves I will say that the head-up display seems to bounce around a little bit with
the movement of my head right so it kind of flickers on and off I'm going to see if that's something I can uh adjust in the settings or with the
glasses themselves but other than that the actual display of the information presented through the glasses is crystal clear it shows me well three dashes for the speed limit because it's not
registering anything it's currently showing that I am doing uh I have to look closely at that actually 42 mph is what it just flashed up and it shows I'm
in third gear so yeah oh now I'm in second yeah it says second gear 27 28 mph yeah so it's pretty darn accurate and it
really should be I mean BMW has been creating and making Head Up Display units for their automobile since the E60 5 series back in
2003 that's a long time so by now they should have a lot of experience with the actual functions of a headup display now
granted we're talking about reducing the size of all the components greatly from that of which is found in an automobile to these
glasses but uh for their first attempt I think it's very very good okay so I just made a major adjustment and these glasses are totally epic now you cannot
have the glasses too close to your face all right so when I initially put them on I smashed them way up against my face um when I put them you know when I put
the helmet on and because of that it was making the head up display unit Flicker and go in and out and it was uh a little annoying because I could see it and I couldn't but I got to a light and I made
the proper adjustments I moved them out away from my face a little bit and now man this thing is amazing all right so now that I'm fueled up I'm going to test out the navigation feature of the smart
glasses by typing in an address Rock and Roll Hall of Fame we're gonna hit go and let's see oh look at that on on
the head up display it shows uh yeah that I'm zero feet it on it shows the the flag to start it shows just what's on this screen here really really cool
but let's get rolling and actually see how this looks while we're riding the bike so now is telling me to keep left really
nice and 1 and 1/2 miles is on the screen 78 mph six gear 50 mph is the displayed speed limit and it wants me to
do something in 1.3 miles is what that's what's showing up on my head up display so we got some nighttime use of the BMW connected ride smart glasses and I'll
tell you I really like these things and I've kind of gotten used to them so much so that earlier today I took them off for a little bit and did some riding and uh was was looking for for my freaking
Head Up Display up there I kind of got used to it so if you're one of those people that love the head up display in an automobile like I do then you're
absolutely going to love these connected R smart glasses the glasses themselves are very comfortable to wear you really don't even know you have a war like I
said earlier the arm the end of the arm is like rubber and you can easily you sort of mold it um to help with release the tension on your ear and when
you do that like I said you don't even know you have the darn things on and it is really nice even when you're not using
navigation to see the useful information right in front of you because now you don't have to look down at your beautiful TFT gauge cluster you can
focus focus focus Straight Ahead just like you can in a car and it was just really really amazing the price $750 they're available at your
dealerships right now BMW motor rod dealerships and I tell you guys it's worth definitely trying out another one of my
favorite Parts about the connected ride smart glasses are the tinted lenses that they come with and the fact they're very easy to Interchange and on the sunny
days those lenses help out quite a bit all right folks hope you enjoyed my very first unboxing and review video on
the BMW connected rid smart glasses stay tuned for more epic videos guys um I do want to say that I I could find myself
using the smart glasses more so on my adventure bike or on a sport touring bike or a Touring bike more so than the super
bikes because I noticed when I was doing really crazy excessive speeds earlier for a little bit on a track yeah on a track um the glasses you
know the head-up unit moved around quite a bit um but you know as long as you're doing speeds below let's just say I don't know 120
mph then these connected Riot smart glasses are absolutely just fine guys you definitely see myself using these when I travel to different cities to
avoid getting lost all right guys thanks so much for viewing this video we will catch you next time on the 650 E YouTube channel
