Hello everybody. Today marks a very special day because we have actually owned one of the first 2027 Kia Tellurides for exactly 3 months. Yeah,

it's hard to believe it's been 3 months, but do we have big regrets? Well, we

have a lot to share in this video, so let's go ahead and dive in.

[music] Now, 3 months isn't a ton of time, but it's still plenty of time to really get a good sense of this vehicle and really begin this overall ownership experience.

Now, in today's video we're going to be addressing some key things such as if there's any problems, overall cost to own, likes and dislikes, as well as

recalls. So, let's go ahead and jump in.

recalls. So, let's go ahead and jump in.

So, let's go ahead and start with the problems. Now, before we get into that, I do want to just go ahead and say we review cars for a living. So, being a little bit nitpicky is certainly something we're good at doing. However,

we do want to give you guys all the latest and greatest ownership details and that does include some of the little things that we've experienced with this car. And what's the first problem? Well,

car. And what's the first problem? Well,

the first problem has been kind of a weird one, but we've noticed that this vehicle's panic alarm will sometimes randomly trigger after you lock the vehicle. Um and actually it doesn't even

vehicle. Um and actually it doesn't even flash the headlights when the panic alarm system is going off. The very

first time this happened, it was going off in our driveway and we didn't even realize that it was the Telluride that was making the noise cuz the headlights were not flashing. And this has occurred on four different separate occasions and

normally it'll stop itself in around a minute, but obviously this is very disruptive to our neighbors and kind of an annoying problem because it doesn't even send a notification in the app that the panic alarm is going off. So, you

have to be physically close to the car to hear it.

And on that issue, we haven't taken it to the dealership or anything yet, but we do plan on seeing what they have to say about that relatively soon. Now, the

next issue that we've been having is with the sensitivity of the locking on the door handle. Of course, you know, most cars these days have a smart entry system, which means that there's usually a little sensor somewhere on the door

handle. You can press it lightly and it

handle. You can press it lightly and it will go ahead and lock up the vehicle.

But we've noticed with this Telluride, we have to hit it very firmly. So, you

got that little sensor right there. And

it sometimes, if you don't hit it with like some really serious type of commitment, basically, we'll start to walk off and the door handle won't retract in, it won't be locked. So, you

kind of have to do a little oops, come back again and do it. Is that

a big deal? Not a super big deal, but just a little quirk that we've noticed with this vehicle and these pop-out door handles. But otherwise, as far as like

handles. But otherwise, as far as like when you approach the vehicle, these pop-out door handles have been absolutely flawless in presenting themselves before you get up to the door. Now, we went ahead and popped the

door. Now, we went ahead and popped the hood, and that's not to talk about any problems that we've had with the powertrain, but it is to talk about our three likes and three dislikes with this Telluride. I'll start with the first

Telluride. I'll start with the first dislike, and that actually is going to be the engine that they've put on this all-new generation. So, the base

all-new generation. So, the base powertrain is going to be a 2.5 L turbo four-cylinder, makes around 274 horsepower. And really, the dislike that

horsepower. And really, the dislike that we've had with this powertrain is nothing to do with the power or the performance. It's just the engine noise

performance. It's just the engine noise and the fuel economy. So, first of all, the refinement is not quite what it used to be in the previous Telluride's V6. We

certainly thought that felt more premium than what you get here in this current Telluride model. And I also want to

Telluride model. And I also want to point out that we had one on loan, a fully loaded example, and we learned that the fully loaded like SX Prestige Telluride's have more sound deadening.

So, that actually does make a big difference when it comes to accelerating. You hear the engine a lot

accelerating. You hear the engine a lot less than you do on this mid-trim level EX X-Line. Now, it also brings me to the

EX X-Line. Now, it also brings me to the fuel economy. So, the fuel economy is

fuel economy. So, the fuel economy is not good either. We've been sitting at right around 20 MPG over our 2,000 mi that we've driven this vehicle, which is not really an improvement over the V6

either. Now, I'm going to switch things

either. Now, I'm going to switch things back to the like side of things. I'm

going to say like number one has been a major road trip machine this thing. It

is absolutely fantastic when you go on longer drives. It keeps you in just

longer drives. It keeps you in just absolute comfort. We really like these

absolute comfort. We really like these seats in particular. They just kind of melt away the miles overall. It's just

such an easy vehicle to live with and enjoy. And that actually kind of leads

enjoy. And that actually kind of leads me into like number two, and that is the technology of this vehicle. We have had no problems whatsoever with the technology. [music]

technology. [music] It pairs your phone instantaneously. It

boots up quickly. Everything has just been really fantastic with this, and you know, that says a lot because we actually have, you know, three different devices paired to this vehicle. Some

type rival systems really had struggle with that, but this pairs all three devices flawlessly, and you can switch between them on the fly. And our third like is going to be the overall space that you're going to find, especially

here in the second row. It is a ridiculous amount of space. It's over 42 in of legroom. And then, look at that.

This is like our normal seating position. I have over a foot of space.

position. I have over a foot of space.

That's something very rare that you typically don't find in a vehicle in this segment. And of course, like Drew

this segment. And of course, like Drew mentioned already, it's a very comfortable road trip companion. So,

that paired with the great space makes for excellent driving. But with that, I do have to mention a dislike, and that is going to be the lack of ambient

lighting on this EX X-Line model. Now,

you may have seen actually our night review of this and quite frankly it was very surprising to us that when we bought this it has actually zero ambient lighting. No foot well lighting or

lighting. No foot well lighting or anything inside this cabin at night time, which is very disappointing. Uh

typically Kia gives you good ambient lighting and you do have to go a trim level up. So, starting on the SX you'll

level up. So, starting on the SX you'll get super cool lights that go through the dashboard there. You'll get the foot well lighting. You'll get lighting in

well lighting. You'll get lighting in the floating center console and it's very elaborate overall in its interior lighting. However, just because we have

lighting. However, just because we have the EX X line, we have nothing. So, for

$50,000 I will say I'm very disappointed that we have no ambient lighting because it does make the actual usability of this car a little bit worse at night time. So, for instance, if I want to

time. So, for instance, if I want to store something in this floating center console, I can't even see at all where it's at at night time.

Confections family. Let's learn a lot and have some fun with all the latest cars.

All right, now time for the recalls.

There are two recalls on the 2027 Kia Telluride so far. The first one impacts the first approximately 15,000 units built. That does include this model. The

built. That does include this model. The

second is over a very small number of Tellurides. So, the first recall is with

Tellurides. So, the first recall is with the third row seatbelt anchor point.

There could be something wrong with it.

Kia just needs everybody to bring their Tellurides in, have that part inspected, and potentially replaced if needed. Now,

the second recall impacts 568 Tellurides. It is the highest end model

Tellurides. It is the highest end model with the executive seating package where you have a power folding second row seat. Um, that obviously does not impact

seat. Um, that obviously does not impact this unit like I was saying. Now, we're

on to the section of cost to own. Well,

when it comes to this, we haven't really had any huge expenditures because we do only have 2,000 mi on the vehicle. So,

that does mean that we haven't done our first service. Kia recommends the first

first service. Kia recommends the first service and oil change at 8,000 mi.

Unfortunately, they do not do complimentary maintenance unlike Hyundai used to as well as Genesis does. Now, as

far as insurance, I do want to point that out. It's roughly around $1,500 a

that out. It's roughly around $1,500 a year for us to insure this Telluride, which does mean it's more expensive than my wife's GV80. We were a little surprised by that, but overall, that's

not too bad. And as far as fuel expense, of course, we already mentioned that it doesn't get very good fuel economy. So,

that's really the main thing that we've incurred. And gas prices, of course, are

incurred. And gas prices, of course, are going up. So, at $4 a gallon, this thing

going up. So, at $4 a gallon, this thing is around 75 bucks to fill up. So,

that's a little painful at the pump. So,

overall with our ownership so far, are we still liking it? I think the answer is certainly yes. So far, nothing has happened that has changed our mind about

this. We still really feel that this is

this. We still really feel that this is a very, very strong family three-row SUV, and we've really been enjoying it for these first few months. I absolutely

can confirm that. And would we buy it again? Yes. Although, I will say that we

again? Yes. Although, I will say that we would maybe weigh in getting the hybrid powertrain a little bit more. That's

certainly something that would address our big problems with the engine sound as well as the fuel economy. I think

that would definitely make this experience better. Also, maybe going for

experience better. Also, maybe going for one trim level higher such as an SX.

That would also fix things like our ambient lighting problem inside the cabin and maybe give us a little bit more sound deadening as well. Yeah, for

sure. But, make sure you come back for our next update. That'll give us a little bit more time to process those things and maybe, you know, confirm or deny if that would have been the best

bet overall. And guys, that is it for

bet overall. And guys, that is it for our 3-month ownership update of this brand new 2027 Kia Telluride. If you're
