Quietly but quickly, the secret is getting out there. This is Cape Town, and its beauty is only just one of the impressive things about it. Cape Town is
health. Cape Town is community. And yes,
health. Cape Town is community. And yes,
Cape Town is astonishing beauty.
Thousands of travelers are now coming here every single year. One visit and people are hooked. This isn't just a vacation spot. This is a place that has
vacation spot. This is a place that has people dreaming bigger, thinking that this actually could be a home. And Ruby
and I are asking ourselves that same question. But there are no fairy tales.
question. But there are no fairy tales.
This is a very complicated destination.
Maybe one of the most polarizing I've ever been. And there's a lot to unpack.
ever been. And there's a lot to unpack.
But I want to bring you with me on an entire month lived in Cape Town. From
the ocean views to the vineyards to the days spent on a laptop living the digital nomad life.
Now, most of us have heard of the great migration.
What?
But you see, there's a totally new migration here in Africa, a digital nomad migration. You see, the year kind of looks a bit like this.
January to March is now Cape Town season. It's where people come to enjoy
season. It's where people come to enjoy 25 degrees, beautiful blue skies. But
it's not just the weather. I, like most people, came here with about a 10-day trip. But one ticket after another, I
trip. But one ticket after another, I kept pushing back, pushing back. Next
thing I knew, I was a month deep into Cape Town. And I promised myself I'd be
Cape Town. And I promised myself I'd be back next year. And here we are doing it all over again. I think the most amazing thing about this, though, and why the Cape Town experience feels even more
incredible this year, is the community.
I came here last year with a group of about six other friends. By the end of that trip, I left with 30 friends. This
year, I swear it's doubled again. I've
brought more of my friends and we've been introduced to new circles who have brought in more of their friends. I've
never found a destination where people visit once and say, "Yeah, I'll be back again next year. Not since Bali, at least." This digital nomad migration is
least." This digital nomad migration is real. And cities like Cape Town, they're
real. And cities like Cape Town, they're becoming primary cities in this new world that we live in. and I'm all here for it. Let me explain how it feels to
for it. Let me explain how it feels to be here during the migration season. One
minute you're down with hundreds of people at the pier going on a run club.
Next, you're doing a polar plunge at Saunders.
It's very cold.
It is very cold.
Next up, it's a villa party. No, there's
actually two, and you've got to decide which one you're going to. Next morning,
it's a vineyard day. You go onto the other side of this mountain here into the farm world and fantasize your life with a few hectors. Next minute, you're meeting new friends and they invite you the next morning to get on a helicopter and to fly across Cape Town, but you
can't go because you've already made plans to go to the shooting range with a bunch of friends. And that also sounds pretty awesome. This pattern never stops
pretty awesome. This pattern never stops and every event somehow feels like it's outdoing the last. After about a week, you're promising yourself to have a rest day, but the opportunity never shows up.
My business during Cape Town season takes a little bit of a backseat, something that I admit I could use more of in my life. Cape Town kind of forces that slowdown, that reset. But every now
and then, I do find a way to cram in a workday. And when I'm working from Cape
workday. And when I'm working from Cape Town, I feel inspired. I feel like this is exactly where I want to have my laptop. And it reminds me why I left my
laptop. And it reminds me why I left my 9 to5, why I took a chance to try to build a business online. It's exactly
for these reasons to be living this life. But you see what I've just shared
life. But you see what I've just shared with you, the migration season, it's temporary. In fact, by the end of
temporary. In fact, by the end of February, a lot of people have left.
Everyone is back to their routines.
My first year in Cape Town, it was always about hitting the most famous hikes, visiting every vineyard, renting the Cobra car. Basically, I was a traveler. But this year was very
traveler. But this year was very different. I was trying on Cape Town in
different. I was trying on Cape Town in more of a local way. I was seeing how it felt to do less. And honestly, I got way more from it. My local life routine was
seriously unmatched. This year, I spent
seriously unmatched. This year, I spent a lot of time here on the beach. One of
my friends got a spike ball set. Then we
moved over to the paddle courts. Maybe
the only place where paddle is as big as in Bali. There's now a bunch of new
in Bali. There's now a bunch of new courts, and they're always full. And the
perfect way to end the day is always a good dinner with good friends. But
tonight, I was becoming a real South African cuz dinner was a bri. This is
like initiation into becoming a South African. My very first piece of wood on
African. My very first piece of wood on a bri. Woohoo.
a bri. Woohoo.
I'm in.
You're in.
What are we working with, Kyle?
We've got, as we can see here, we've got a beautiful rumstick. Man size.
How big is it?
South African. It's
No, man size. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Man size.
Oh, they spelled that rum.
We've got size.
These are burst bites. So, basically,
this is South African sausage.
Ooh.
And Yeah. As you can see, they're big and thick. Yeah, they do the job.
and thick. Yeah, they do the job.
Respect, Kyle.
I hate to put you on blast for all the Africans, but he did put he did put charcoal on his on his fire.
Some extra heat, but there is Camille Durang down there.
Buy it.
You broke the golden rule, bro.
Apricorns cat sate. I did use Camille Durang. Okay. Why?
Durang. Okay. Why?
Yeah, look who's coming back to Bali.
I'll tell you, I'll just grilling with your mates. Chapman's Peak
in the background. Pretty hard to beat.
I love it.
I'm going to take you on an entire month here in Cape Town. And while it might be the most action-packed of destinations, a lot of my favorite days are the ones with no plans. I booked this place in
Clifton for four nights and it cost me around 250 a night. I got to say there's not many places in the world where I feel such a emotional almost spiritual
level of connection with a destination.
We are onto our fourth week here in Cape Town. Didn't record the entire first 3
Town. Didn't record the entire first 3 weeks. I just captured little moments.
weeks. I just captured little moments.
So, literally just the other day in the mail got a couple of these and I've been using them across Cape Town from beautiful moments in the sunshine to using supernight mode where you can
really get the most out of the low light performance on this camera. From life on the road to life in the air. And the
best thing about 360 cameras is you got all sorts of options. I can make this horizontal for YouTube. I can make it vertical for Instagram. And if I'm not needing to follow the action with 360, I can just shoot in single lens shooting
mode. This is actually pretty cool.
mode. This is actually pretty cool.
Check this out. So, there's a button. It
locks the selfie pull. I've got single lens shooting turned on. And now, when I hit record, I don't have to deal with any of the editing in post. I don't have to deal with anything other than just
pointing at what I want. And it shoots 8K up to 50 frames per second, which means you can actually slow motion even in 8K. And for me, the most underrated
in 8K. And for me, the most underrated feature is that you can actually connect two DJI Lab mics at once. I'm going to leave this one with Ruby. And check this out. Hello.
out. Hello.
And now you can hear her audio, my audio. You could literally have a
audio. You could literally have a podcast with two of these and one Osmo 360.
This is how you live life.
Yeah.
So, we're just doing a little Where's Waldo moment. Ruby said, "Come outside
Waldo moment. Ruby said, "Come outside and try to find me."
I think I found her. Let's see. All
right. Dance around, baby.
Run. Run.
First thing you need to get used to though, security. Lots of gates. Some of the
security. Lots of gates. Some of the best things you can do is go down to Clifton for a little run.
You know you're in an incredible place when the best days are the most unplanned. Daily life here kind of feels
unplanned. Daily life here kind of feels like a vacation. Cannot think of a better daily routine. You wake up up top, you run down here, go for a little
cold plunge.
It's so good, man. It's actually really dope, too. I took the selfie pull,
dope, too. I took the selfie pull, shoved it in the sand, and now got like a full little full little 360 rig. Life
is being captured and life is being lived. I don't have to think about the
lived. I don't have to think about the camera at all.
I love it. I love Cape Town. I want to move here. I want to live here by the
move here. I want to live here by the beach and every single day.
Yeah. So, that's one thing that we're definitely not accustomed to in Bali, but you have to be so mindful here of where you are when you're going places.
I mean, especially for Ruby, this run is fine because you're steps away from the beach. But, I will say the first time
beach. But, I will say the first time I've ever been robbed in my entire life was here 2 days ago and it was luckily nothing serious. It was our Uber Eats.
nothing serious. It was our Uber Eats.
Our food was sitting on the doorstep right there and within just 2 minutes it was gone.
highfashion vineyard. That's my kind on kind of runway. We are here at Babylon Storin, which is a vineyard we came to last year. We had amazing vineyard
last year. We had amazing vineyard experiences, but I think this was the one that probably stood out the most just cuz of the garden. It's just so enchanted. And today we're doing a full
enchanted. And today we're doing a full tour seeing how they make it. And it's
uh Mama Moiselle's birthday.
Yes.
Happy birthday, baby. Thank you, Forever 21.
Forever 21.
I guess Ruby's birthday is also her luckiest day of the year because thanks to some last minute cancellations, we skipped a 3mon waiting list and got to experience our favorite vineyard.
He wants all the attention.
You're a very beautiful donkey, though.
You're a very beautiful donkey.
And this is why it's our favorite of the vineyards. I mean, you just walk around
vineyards. I mean, you just walk around and you literally get lost in paradise.
It's so pretty. Four glasses of wine deep.
Thank you. Oh, the birthday keeps delivering.
Mhm.
Chakuri. Some more wine. The sunset.
Breakfast.
The food in Cape Town is different. A
different kind of fresh. I think there's more farm-totable options here than anywhere else in the world.
Later that night, we celebrated Ruby's birthday with a group of our friends at another vineyard called Cape Point Vineyard. An amazing view, a long table,
Vineyard. An amazing view, a long table, and best of all, a group of people we get to share this chapter of our lives with.
Celebrate you.
A thank you so much.
Thank you very much.
That's very drunk. I see your plan.
Thank you so much, guys. Yeah, like what you saying like how recently she's been in her uh feminine era. Your wedding cake.
feminine era. Your wedding cake.
She's always such a yes queen. She's
always down for everything. We could
move to Timbuktu and she would say whatever is best for us. The luckiest
guy to have such an incredible partner.
And I'm so special.
Yay. Y
got it.
alone was looking.
You see, I haven't really prioritized social life since I started building my channel, and it's honestly been a big missing part of my life. I feel like Cape Town has been a huge part of
restoring that missing piece of our lives.
We're going to lose a dress.
Wow.
Take it in, bro.
The view's that way, dude.
The view's the other way.
You okay, dude?
Doing your job, dude. We just got a copyright strike.
So the question is why is everybody coming here? And the first reason is
coming here? And the first reason is Cape Town is health. There's something
about this place that pulls you to be outside, to go for a walk, to go for a hike, to be out by the water, to be playing, paddle. I mean, I swear to you,
playing, paddle. I mean, I swear to you, this is one of the most active cities I've ever been to. You see it in the people. People here are fit. People here
people. People here are fit. People here
are chasing a better and longer life.
And there's very few places in the world where I feel that. Bali is also one of them. For Ruby and I, this is one of the
them. For Ruby and I, this is one of the most important qualities in a place to call home. Just the other day doing
call home. Just the other day doing work, saying today's a lockin day. And
then next thing I know, I'm invited to go to a run club. I show up and there are hundreds of people. I mean, look at this. It's incredible. And right after
this. It's incredible. And right after it, we went for a plunge at Saunders.
The Atlantic Ocean is a total wake up.
And afterward, I felt absolutely incredible. And then there's the hiking
incredible. And then there's the hiking in this city. It feels like you're always five minutes away from the ocean.
It feels like you're always five minutes away from a beautiful hiking trail. And
because of that, you find yourself getting on those hikes that back home you never found the time to get around to doing. Here, it just happens. But as
to doing. Here, it just happens. But as
you know, health isn't just the physical. It's not just getting a sweat
physical. It's not just getting a sweat on. It's also how you feel and how your
on. It's also how you feel and how your mind is unlocked. And I really feel like the daily routine of Cape Town somehow shifts the mental state into such a
positive place. I feel good here. I feel
positive place. I feel good here. I feel
at peace, but also sort of not. I mean,
I'll talk about the safety problems later, but there's something so uplifting here, and it goes way deeper than just the physical. One of the most beautiful parts is I found myself an
amazing and uplifting church. The Hill
Song in Century City has a powerful Sunday service where people of all walks of life come together. I can't tell you how much this place made me feel not only at home, but like I was exactly
where I was meant to be. Everyone that
comes here feels like they're reclaiming their body, their mind, their time, and there's not many places in the world that can compete or even come close to this. Cape Town is full of beautiful
this. Cape Town is full of beautiful places to live, to visit. And I want to give you a bit of an understanding of how it works. Now, instead of just pointing around, let me fly the drone to give you full context. This is
Seintoint, and this is where a lot of people will stay. It's busy. It's a hub.
It's got the gyms. It's got tons of restaurants, great nightife, and it's less expensive than what I'll show you next. Flying over, you start to get into
next. Flying over, you start to get into Bantry Bay and the famous Clifton Beach.
One of the most beautiful beaches I've ever seen. This area is more laid-back.
ever seen. This area is more laid-back.
It's gorgeous. And these two areas are protected from the incredible winds that Cape Town is known to get. Now, flying
just a little bit further down the beachfront, and that brings you to Camp's Bay. This is the most famous
Camp's Bay. This is the most famous neighborhood in all of Cape Town. Just
like Bantry, just like Clifton, it's full of mansions. be prepared for a lot of wind on some days, but unless you're looking to move here, the wind's not really a problem. It's part of the experience. And because there's no way
experience. And because there's no way this drone's going to keep flying around the mountains, we have to fly over top.
And that brings you to a completely other side to experience Cape Town. And
that's something I'll be bringing you to see later in the video because for those that want to escape some of the action and experience more of a laid-back sort of energy, this is where you might want to go. Now, another reason why people
to go. Now, another reason why people are coming here is that Cape Town is an incredible place of opportunity. I'm
talking about networking that I've not really seen outside of a couple major hubs. Dubai, New York. The people that
hubs. Dubai, New York. The people that come here, they're extraordinarily successful entrepreneurs, people that have made a name for themselves, found success, or they're currently working on
that. Now, unlike Bali, one thing that
that. Now, unlike Bali, one thing that isn't quite here in a big way are co-work spaces. I highly doubt that will
co-work spaces. I highly doubt that will always be the case. There's just simply too many entrepreneurs coming here for that not to start to rise. But for now, it does not touch Bali, does not come close to some of the digital nomad hubs
I know. Most people are usually working
I know. Most people are usually working from more informal setups. And one other thing that I think makes Cape Town so attractive to these successful entrepreneurs is the time zone. For a
lot of people, coming to Bali is extraordinarily difficult. It's like the
extraordinarily difficult. It's like the opposite of the American Canadian time zone. But when you're in Cape Town, it's
zone. But when you're in Cape Town, it's roughly 6 hours ahead or 6 hours behind from the Asian markets. It kind of splits that time zone difference and it makes it compatible for people that are
working remotely and need to stay tied to the real world, the big cities. But I
do appreciate these days spending my time around other entrepreneurs. I find
it inspiring. It's that combination of having a lot of fun in some moments, but being able to reel it back in and lock in to spend weeks at a computer completely cutting off your social life.
I think that's why entrepreneurs tend to gravitate towards each other. There's a
lifestyle that comes with it, it's not for everybody, but when you find those people that you really fit in with, it's hard to go back.
I cannot live without a bomb.
And there's horrible. It's like
Neanderthal. I just don't get it's like if you This is hard-hitting stuff, dude. I
think it is. The world needs to know this.
it is. The world needs to know this.
There is one big problem with Cape Town.
Well, with Hi, I love Cape Town.
Once you are slotted into a community in Cape Town, your social life will quickly become your full-time job. And today, my friends Isaac and Greer invited us to join them on a special double date. If
your friends jump off a cliff, you do it, too. I set Ruby and I up with the
it, too. I set Ruby and I up with the Osmo 360 and a selfie pole and we got ready to paraglide off Signal Hill.
Here we go.
Standing on top of Signal Hill.
I'm so excited. Launching.
Oh my god.
Perfect.
Oh my goodness.
There she goes. Woo.
Caroline, this is amazing. Ruby's
takeoff was smooth and graceful. Mine
not so much.
And that's out. Hey,
that's out. Hey, run run run run run run run run run run run run run run run run run run run run run run run run run run run run after 1 2 3.
But we finally got up there flying above the city I have started to fall for. The
entire experience is calm and passive.
The wind does all the work and you just take it in. It's a feeling that everyone should try once and the Osmo 360 made sure I only had to hit record and every
angle was captured beautifully. No
microphone. No idea how this is going to hold in the audio quality with all this wind. But just behind me there, Signal
wind. But just behind me there, Signal Hill over there. You can see Lion's Head. And right now we're flying over
Head. And right now we're flying over Seo, which is a special way to see it.
Feel like a drone right now.
Oh my gosh.
Oh my god, that feels crazy.
And now run for run.
High five.
Get ready to run. The most awkward run of your life.
Nice flying with you.
Appreciate that. Yeah, likewise. I feel
so alive. I love the feeling.
And because we landed in Seo, I knew exactly where to go.
We're back to my favorite spot in all of Cape Town. Pasta from real Italian.
Cape Town. Pasta from real Italian.
So, how far does money go in Cape Town?
Well, I'll show you a few rentals, but let's just say Cape Town rent in high season is very expensive, but food prices can be reasonable if you manage it. One of our favorite places allowed
it. One of our favorite places allowed us to have pasta for around eight bucks and steak dinners for around 10. Not bad
at all.
Cape Town is community life built around other people. I think there's plenty of
other people. I think there's plenty of reasons to visit here, but why people extend from one week to 2 weeks to a month, it's the way everybody comes
together with common interests. people
in search of better health, wealth, freedom, travel, and business. Again, I
I hate to keep comparing to Bali, but it's kind of one of the few places where I see such an extensive push for the same values. Now that it's my second
same values. Now that it's my second year here, I can tell you the faces are reoccurring. People are not only going
reoccurring. People are not only going to be here for this year, but they're going to be back next. That's a really beautiful feeling. I think the community
beautiful feeling. I think the community aspect is one of the best I've seen, but with the caveat that unlike Bali, it's not year round. Maybe with time this
starts to become more of a permanent home base. I'm even seeing it within my
home base. I'm even seeing it within my own friend circles, people talking about coming in the offse, but that's not really the case right now. And one last thing that I think is so unique about
the social life of Cape Town is that everybody here is kind of on their time off. They're building businesses, yes,
off. They're building businesses, yes, but they're also in a place to meet people. Open-minded, openhearted. They
people. Open-minded, openhearted. They
invite you to different things. You get
to connect with people in a stage of their lives where they're actually open to receiving it. I can definitely feel the same way. It's kind of a time where I have unplugged from a lot of the things that sometimes prevent me from going deeper in my friendships. For a
lot of digital nomads like myself, Cape Town represents belonging.
Day trips keep life spicy in Cape Town.
And one that's got to be a yearly one for us is a 1-hour drive down to Boulder Beach to visit our friends, the Dassis and the Penguins. Your cousin wouldn't really answer this question, so I'm
going to ask you instead.
Oh my lens. Now, the next reason people are coming here is that Cape Town is beauty. I mean, stunning, jaw-dropping
beauty. I mean, stunning, jaw-dropping beauty. And just the other year, I
beauty. And just the other year, I actually did something that was on my bucket list. I swam in the kelp forest,
bucket list. I swam in the kelp forest, got lost in this magnificent beauty. One
of the best things I've done in Cape Town and one of my favorite travel experiences. The amount of wow factor
experiences. The amount of wow factor you get per square kilometer is probably the most impressive in the world.
Do you see any sharks?
Come.
Come here. Now, this is not exactly a perfect route, but we took a good detour for what we were promised was a meal to die for.
Apparently, this is the best fish and chips in the world. Not only
did I hear that not true. Never mind.
It's not true. Apparently, yeah, they're trying to keep it hush hush. I was just saying this is the best fish and chips in the world. And the locals were like, "No, it's not true." They're like, "Don't tell anyone."
This cute local spot was located in a gritty fisherman's village. Honestly, it
might not be the best in the world, but this place was really good.
So, this is Cam's place. Living the Sea Point life. How's Seint,
Point life. How's Seint, dude? I love it.
dude? I love it.
I had I didn't even know I was coming to Cape Town.
Yeah. Yeah.
And then I just end up here in the literally I mean, I would argue one of the best spots in Se. No, it it really is. So, right
Se. No, it it really is. So, right
there, that's the the big building there is like BU gym. All of the most happening bars are like down here. And
yeah, it's super super connected to everything. Little bit like like would
everything. Little bit like like would you say it's safe to walk around at night?
Here specifically?
Yes. Like three blocks that way and that way? No.
way? No.
Yeah. Yeah.
But here. Yeah.
So, the one block is good.
Yeah.
It's a good block.
It's a good block.
How much is this place per month?
$7,000.
And for that you get what? How many
rooms?
Two big ones, one guest room.
They tell me if you're booking it for like a full year. Yeah.
Get a much better rate.
For sure.
Like we were getting destroyed just by doing.
That's like a nice place, you know? Like
it's got three fulls size rooms, two bathrooms, but like Cape Town high season is really, all things considered, very expensive. If you come here like in
very expensive. If you come here like in 2 3 months, that could be half the price.
Downstairs, our taxi was waiting to take us from Seint to the real downtown Cape Town for the locally famous first Thursday.
It's a good day to be in Cape Town, honestly.
Yeah. Why is it a good day?
But so, so currently the students are back in town.
So, the university has basically been opening again and um so they all are coming from all over South Africa. So,
all of them goes to Bree Street on a first. So, it's a big party.
first. So, it's a big party.
It's a big party. You'll see when we get there now. It's packed. It's packed.
there now. It's packed. It's packed.
Really?
Lots of bars, lots lots of eating places all next to each other.
Oh, so you guys should have fun.
Is it safe?
It's Bri Street. I would say it's so much safer than Long Street. So, between
Bri and Kof and Sever here, you guys should be safe. It should be cool for you guys to be here.
Turns out the first Thursdays is less of a night market and more of a pub crawl.
The entire city block was shut down and hundreds of people came out drinking and even a little eating.
This guy's wild.
ALL RIGHT.
You're getting a fivestar review, my friend.
You're wild.
Yeah, I will. I got your number.
Yes, definitely. Thank you.
So, every month, the first Thursday, this street just turns into a giant party. Look at this. Everywhere.
party. Look at this. Everywhere.
Cape Town season is a time of parties.
It can happen at anywhere from a club to a villa, but the biggest party of the season was definitely this. My buddy had some serious success in his business and two years in a row has thrown Mystic
Grooves, which is basically a private music festival for friends. This year
was at a manor with two stages surrounded by some of the best views.
This was next level and a big highlight of this Cape Town season.
But you see, there's more to the Cape Town story. Yes, a lot of people are
Town story. Yes, a lot of people are coming to Cape Town, but Cape Town is not that simple. And it would be wrong to pretend that it is. You see, just
behind that mountain right there, it's the reality. It's the outside of the
the reality. It's the outside of the bubble because where we are right now here in Camp's Bay, it is artificially secure. Talk to any South African and
secure. Talk to any South African and they'll tell you, they were raised to have eyes behind their head, to question everything. And the saying I've heard
everything. And the saying I've heard multiple times is, if you think you might be in danger, you probably are.
And that is a crazy way to live. Coming
from a Canadian, I never once in my life even questioned my safety. But every
turn, every corner, and every place you go, you need to be vigilant. And even
today, I had a little runin where I felt like there was a moment I might not have been safe holding all of my equipment and gear. Robberies happen all the time.
and gear. Robberies happen all the time.
You see, in the townships, this is a place where it's said that there's upwards of 70% of people without employment. People don't steal just for
employment. People don't steal just for the thrill. They steal to survive. in a
the thrill. They steal to survive. in a
country where resources are not in abundance for all. The truth is the difference between the rich and the poor could not be more in your face. Now, I'm
not going to fix the problem. I'm simply
here to tell you about it. But I can definitely say there are little ways we can help. And last year, we actually
can help. And last year, we actually raised $13,000 for the Langa community.
And one of you DM'd me on Instagram and said you had a spare shipping container laying around. And because of your
laying around. And because of your generosity, this soup kitchen got a whole new area to prepare for the local community. It's not going to fix the
community. It's not going to fix the problem, but little steps like this hopefully create a future for South Africa that can be less divided because right now in some of these communities,
it is some of the record homicide rates of our planet. Now, while most people won't visit the townships, the way most people will experience the first little glimpse into the other side of Cape
Town, it's actually by driving the Nighway leaving the airport. This is
known as the hell run. If your car breaks down, you'll be lucky if you just lose your things because people have actually lost their lives by being stuck on this road. Just the other day, my friends told me there was a bunch of
kids in the middle of the road standing in the middle on their knees trying to get cars to stop with their friends just around the corner waiting for that person who didn't know South Africa. The
person that stopped and at that point once they stopped a bunch of bandits would come out, smash the windows and take what they could. I mean it happens all the time here. And when somebody tries to resist, don't think for a
second they won't take the ultimate action. People have lost their lives for
action. People have lost their lives for very, very small things, less than a phone. It's a crazy thing to be here in
phone. It's a crazy thing to be here in a place where you run in with these risks every day, and yet you don't want to leave. But I'm getting to a stage in
to leave. But I'm getting to a stage in my life where kids are very much a priority soon. And that's definitely a
priority soon. And that's definitely a risk that I think I'll be measuring differently at that stage.
I love Cape Town, but I'm also deeply curious about this entire continent. And
that's why I'm taking the next steps to connect with Africa. I just bought two motorbikes here in Cape Town so I can plant my first roots and so my best friend Cam and I can begin the trip of a
lifetime. Driving across Africa, coast
lifetime. Driving across Africa, coast to coast. That is my next series here on
to coast. That is my next series here on YouTube. As I'm recording this, I'm
YouTube. As I'm recording this, I'm already in country number five, and I can say the best videos I've ever made are just ahead. But before I left Cape Town, we took these bikes all around the
city and beyond. My social battery was running low after weeks of parties and events. So Ruby and I wanted a change of
events. So Ruby and I wanted a change of pace. We followed a rumor that there was
pace. We followed a rumor that there was magic on the other side of the mountains. And we found this place just
mountains. And we found this place just outside of Nord Hook. Now, I told myself I wouldn't record today, but this is a very, very special moment. It's a new chapter, and it's part of my story of
better understanding Cape Town. Today,
Ruby and I drove this bike through the passageway coming through Chapman's Peak, one of the most beautiful drives on our planet, and it has brought us into a new side of Cape Town. It is like
a 180 from Camps Bay. You see, Camp's Bay is so energetic. Being there makes me feel like my social life is my full-time job, and it's left me feeling in need of some time on my business, and
honestly, a lot more time with you.
Yes, we've been around so many people.
It's been so busy.
Crazy. Cape Town season takes you to everything. There's so many parties, big
everything. There's so many parties, big events dinners hikes.
We needed some peace and quiet. So,
we needed this. Yeah,
we came to paradise and this is seriously one of the best areas in Cape Town. I love it. We have this beautiful
Town. I love it. We have this beautiful lake and the mountains and a pool and a garden and just some time to relax and unwind. I cracked open my laptop and
unwind. I cracked open my laptop and took like a deep breath of relief because can finally make some progress.
I have so many things to do. But when I work, I want to be surrounded by a place that inspires me. And that's what Nord Hook does. It's got gyms. It's still got
Hook does. It's got gyms. It's still got a little bit of a social scene, some nice vineyards, but comparatively, it's absolutely reclusive. It's so peaceful.
absolutely reclusive. It's so peaceful.
I love it so much. This gorgeous old home for five nights here, it's costing about $1,200. Not cheap, but it is three
about $1,200. Not cheap, but it is three bedrooms. Share it with some friends.
Get out into the countryside, and it is an incredible escape. Funny enough, this is pretty much the same price as my friend's apartment in Seint, which is also three bedrooms. But instead of hearing sirens and garbage trucks and
opening up onto harsh concrete streets, you're looking at this as your backdrop.
And you did some grocery shopping.
M m the produce, the groceries in Cape Town.
How do you review? It's maybe the best.
The best ever. Seriously, I got so excited to go to the grocery store.
Yeah.
Hello.
That was so hard driving with your burger and my phone on maps.
I feel like a housewife here waiting for my food.
I had So, thank you.
I had So, do I get a kiss?
Yeah. I'll sit I'll put down some coasters and some doilies and we can have a drink. Cam said that next door is like a a massive and amazing food market. There's a vineyard, there's a
market. There's a vineyard, there's a brewery, there's a restaurant, and there's like horses and animals all on the lake.
It's so sick.
Yeah.
The first two days were just for us, laying in the sun, enjoying sunsets by the lake, and we also got to meet our neighbor.
So, Alex, you were just telling me so she's a local to this area. You said
this is a wild area.
Yes. If there's going to be an intruder in the house, it's it's a it's a large baboon.
And And how do you get rid of them?
Um, so you phone the baboon hotline and the guys come with the paintball guns to get them out the house. But they don't shoot at them. They'll shoot next to them and they're gone. As soon as they hear the walkie-talkies, they run.
They're gone.
You have experience with this. I I see.
Yeah. You getting the baboon hotline?
I am.
Thank you.
She was saying that it happened three times this week. And what have we done?
We've left all our windows open. So, if
you look right over at the end there, there's like a last little white house over there. That is our mission for
over there. That is our mission for tomorrow morning. I don't think 5 days
tomorrow morning. I don't think 5 days is going to be enough. I think I wanted a few years with this as my backyard.
Uh-oh. Uh-oh. Oh, [ __ ] Okay. Okay. Take
it. Take it. TAKE IT.
[ __ ] OH, THERE HE GOES.
There he is.
Baby, shut the windows and doors. He
sees were easy. We're
Look at the barrel on that guy.
Yeah. Yeah. He's cruising. Oh, yeah. a
little belly on.
Good morning. Morning. So, we're
exploring our new neighborhood. Decided
to come out this morning. Check this
out.
Wow. Yeah.
It's absolutely beautiful. The sand is the softest sand I've ever felt. It's
perfect.
Oo, it smells like rotten eggs, though.
Smells.
Is it from the kelp?
The good news was that the smell was gone after just a few meters. And this
is what I want my fitness routine to look like. Running alongside my
look like. Running alongside my girlfriend on a perfect white sand beach. I've been flying drones for
beach. I've been flying drones for almost 10 years now, and they have gotten more and more convenient thanks to DJI. But I will say it still doesn't
to DJI. But I will say it still doesn't fit in my pocket, but this does. Check
this out.
You can start down low.
Yeah, this camera doesn't fly, but you throw it on a 2 and 1/2 m pole that folds nice and down and compact just like this. And you can bring this
like this. And you can bring this everywhere with you. It's in my backpack at all times. It's just so creative what you can do with it. I also love this quick release. Just pop it in the bottom
quick release. Just pop it in the bottom and you're connected.
It's actually so helpful. And just next to the beach, a super cute coffee shop with a crazy good flat white.
Are you moving?
I was already I'm planning everything in my head right now that I'm I'm moving here.
We are so happy right now. Barefoot
riding the motorbike around town. Just
cruising like it's like a little village.
Are like they make me come alive. I'm
like my spirit has awakened.
Yeah. And look at this. We just ordered food and we're going to try all these different restaurants over the next few days. I love this life. You know you've
days. I love this life. You know you've crossed your 30s when you have this ambition to just own land and have animals.
And that's where we're staying right down there. Surrounded by mountains,
down there. Surrounded by mountains, greenery, ocean, a lake. Now, I have to say being here is absolutely incredible.
It's such a feeling. I see you doing the happy dance. Means it uh it's approved.
happy dance. Means it uh it's approved.
I feel like this is the life I was meant to live. And uh when I think about
to live. And uh when I think about what's coming next, I mean, I really want to book us hopefully half and half next year. Maybe half of our time would
next year. Maybe half of our time would be Cape Town, downtown Seepoint or in Camp's Bay. The other half would be out
Camp's Bay. The other half would be out toward this area getting lost in the vineyards, lost in the countryside. But
another side that has also come to mind here is just how nice it would be to call this place home. I have already began doing something I tend to do. When
I find somewhere I really like, I creep around on a property website, start kind of gauging the costs, and who knows, maybe a good season of work could lead to an opportunity to to build something
deeper here. It's something else. This
deeper here. It's something else. This
entire experience was everything we could have asked for, but eventually we kind of missed the energy of our friends. So, we invited them to join us
friends. So, we invited them to join us on the tranquil side of the mountain.
This might not be the most action-packed part of the trip, but it was one of the most memorable.
Hey, come on. Go for it.
And when it's over, we're turning the cars over and we count.
So, why is everybody coming to Cape Town? I don't think I have to tell you.
Town? I don't think I have to tell you.
You can see for yourself. But the truth is, it's not going to be for everybody.
just as I myself am struggling with the realities. I love this place, but to be
realities. I love this place, but to be honest, I feel I've only gotten a little sliver. Ruby and I's goal is to see Cape
sliver. Ruby and I's goal is to see Cape Town outside of peak season and to see it when it's primarily the locals to feel what it's like to be here without the parties, without the rush, and with
just the raw Cape Town. Something tells
me we'll be back again soon and we'll probably be visiting land trying to understand better how much it costs where we see ourselves here in this beautiful place or if we see ourselves here at all. But either way, it's time
to pack the bags, get on the motorbikes cuz we've got six countries, about 12,000 km, and 45 days if all cooperates. If you're up for that, you
cooperates. If you're up for that, you can subscribe and join Cam and I. Let's
get lost again in the next
