everybody wants to know why the Rashad me watches are so expensive so ladies and gentlemen today I'm going to try and explain it to you as simply and as
straightforward as possible without getting into a long-winded story so what you have to understand first is that big watch companies such as Omega Rolex and
so on obviously sell thousands hundreds of thousands of pieces every year and because of this
and because of the volume that they can put out their production cost comes down added to the fact that a lot of their
things are made inhouse uh because they were founded by watchmakers and they are long-standing uh companies the story of
Rashad Mill is a little bit interesting because Rashad Mill was actually a jeweler not a watch maker and he he
wanted to combine his passion uh for watchmaking and his experience in jewelry and I believe he was actually a very Avid Formula 1 fan he wanted to
combine all that together uh into a watch brand so because he was not a watch maker to begin with he had to consult a company that can make his
vision come true that can make watches for him that means he needed a company that would be able to make the case that would be able to make the movement that
would be able to make the design that would be able to make the screws and so on and so forth and that's not such a simple thing luckily there is a company
uh that does exactly that they are a third party company and they can make any movement any kind of watch for you and basically put your own brand on it basically kind of like Drop Shipping
right and I believe this company is called uh Rena and and in Switzerland so he consulted them luckily enough he was actually friends with with uh one of them one of the
owners of the company and that company has since gone on to be uh taken over by AP so a lot of the lot of
the parts that are made for AP watches are actually made at that company and they actually specialize in being able to make a lot of uh complex parts of the
movement so we're talking like turbion or like chronograph turb on movements and things like that so they are basically the best of the best in regards to being able to make pieces
very well respected and they can do pretty much anything they have fantastic engineering and they can do things custom made for you as long as you're able to explain to them what it is you
want so naturally he's come to them with a particular vision for his Watchers and a particular design something that does not exist yet so they can't take uh
pieces from other watches and be able to put into what what his design and his dream and his vision is so for example
even the screws here that you see on Richard Mill is a unique design to these watches you don't find these on other watches what that means is that this
company has to be made to go and uh create these uh screws the design for these screws now if you're having normal screws used for any regular watch that's
going to be much cheaper but as soon as you start telling a particular company I want you to make my screws look like this and then you add to the fact that
you want the screws to be made from certain precious Alloys and metals and um and things like that the cost starts to really creep up right and then added
to that fact that we're not working with big volumes here right there's only uh ever a few few thousand pieces of a of a Rashad Mill watch that's made per year
it's not like for example Amiga like I was saying at the start of the video or Rolex where they're rolling out you know tens hundreds of thousands of different
types of watches so you need to understand that when you're making a a particular screw that's this specific design that also requires now particular
tools to be able to work with unscrewing that screw without damaging it for example uh the case itself this design
for the screw to go in that requires its own particular kind of uh production and then again add to that fact that uh this is going to be rose gold it's going to
make it much more different to if it was just steel for example you know if you're going to have titanium it's going to make it much more different to if it was just steel and even within the uh
movement itself so a lot of the rad me watches you'll see you know through its skeleton design that a lot of times uh on the sapphire itself they'll have uh
the hours and different things printed on there that's not such a common thing on watches right usually you have a sapphire case like here for example or any other watch that you may see where
it's just a sapphire case on top just just a normal Sapphire case on top of the watch but now you start having Rashad M Watchers where they're doing
prints on top of the sapphire case uh and that's their unique design so all of these elements when you put it together you can see how the costs start uh
stacking up because to be able to do things like that requires research and development as well so not only are you making unique pieces such as the screw such as the different things within the
movement itself such as printing on the sapphire crystal and figuring out how to be able to do that correctly and everything else that goes with it you have to continue to do research and
development to be able to know how to do this reliably so the watch can last and can do the things that it wants but the other thing is ultimately Rashad M
wanted to have a watch wanted to create a watch that really broke away from what watches were because watches were always sort of considered as something serious
right they were the cases or the design has had to be of a serious kind of formal nature uh it was done with a particular
purpose to serve a particular purpose and that's it right they they wanted to break away from that a little bit and make Watchers unique make them fun make
them exciting a little bit more and frankly I think they've done a very good job they are great watches as far as the movement itself is concerned it's it's top of the line like it's the same
company that AP deals with so uh there is there is as much as a as much as Richard Mill gets a flack from from from uh some people they're actually fantastic watches as far as the movement
is concerned as far as the research and development is concerned as far as the functionality is concerned and everything else in between so that's a little bit of a rundown as to why uh
Rashad Mill Watchers are so expensive it's not just hype it's not just um marking things up for the sake of doing it although I'm sure there's some of that involved as it is with all kinds of
luxury uh products but it is a legitimate and well-respected watch with great functionality great features and great movements you guys
