[music] [music] Zebra 3 is a pure joy. And I don't know how exactly it happens, but this synth wants me to play it, wants me to squeeze
some cool music out of it right away.
Hello everyone. It's me, Paul. Welcome
back to my studio. You know what? I hate
synthesizers.
[music] Yeah, I somehow hate them because whenever a new synth is out, I can't focus on anything. I can't work because I have to tweak it. I enjoy it a lot. I
can't stop. And that's exactly the case with new Zebra 3 that's been out just yesterday. And you know what? What I
yesterday. And you know what? What I
created with it in just a couple of minutes, like 15 minutes, using only presets, is insane. You have to listen to it to believe it. And this
synthesizer left me seriously speechless today. So, I'm going to tweak it for you
today. So, I'm going to tweak it for you just right [music] now. Let's go.
And maybe we're going to start with U-He website to see what's up. Deep
synthesis, Zebra 3, 249 euro. I know. I know it's not cheap,
249 euro. I know. I know it's not cheap, but it is worth it. And also, U-He is sometimes does discounts. Look for Black Friday. Look for other occasions because
Friday. Look for other occasions because you will see this discounted. Also,
there's a build for Linux, which is really great. This is how it looks. And
really great. This is how it looks. And
these are the new functions. Adaptive
interface, new presets, unified spline editor, a reworked wavetable or additive, 20 oscillator effects, 13 filter models, new filter models, FM
oscillation, modal resonators, modal synthesis. This is really cool. We're
synthesis. This is really cool. We're
going to take a look at that. Noise and
exciter, a part of physical modeling. As
I said, we're going to take a look into this. Vector and scan mixer. So, vector
this. Vector and scan mixer. So, vector
synthesis is here. Mappers acting as step sequencers or freely drawable transfer curves, ring modulations, distortions, wavefolders, new effects,
CLAP VST3, MPE uh support and more.
Guys, that's it on paper because now I'm going to take you here. I created this.
I took some drums and I created bass. I
created some ambiences, stabs, sequences, and a lead just using only Zebra 3. It took me minutes. And I'm
Zebra 3. It took me minutes. And I'm
going to run you through this synthesizer showing you some presets that I ran through and I I picked for my uh production. And we're going to start
uh production. And we're going to start maybe with bass. And this is how Zebra 3 looks like. And you know what? This
looks like. And you know what? This
refreshed look is great. I've seen
better. Wasn't that clean. Wasn't that
comprehensive, well laid out. Colors
were different. Now it's clean. Now it's
inviting. Now I want to play it. Uh and
just the look at the previous version of Zebra. It was a bit clunky, outdated,
Zebra. It was a bit clunky, outdated, not so really convenient. This is much much better. And I just took a preset
much better. And I just took a preset and did this bass.
[music] [music] [music] [music] Yeah, that's it. And you know what? Uh
I'm going to create one more instance of Zebra 3 because maybe a good idea is to run you through some presets because presets going to tell you a lot about this synth, what it is, how it sounds,
what its character. And it has shifted a bit to something more experimental, even deeper, very spacious, and based on FM and
physical modeling. It's much more of a
physical modeling. It's much more of a physical modeling plus FM than in than it used to be. I mean, it wasn't physical modeling at all. But anyway, I
want you to listen to some presets.
[music] [music] [music] First five presets, they do sound amazing. Sound design
amazing. Sound design with this synth is crazy. There's not a single bad preset here. Let's change the category to drum loops.
[laughter] Oh my.
[music] [music] And so on and so on. Everything,
literally everything here is more than usable, inviting, and sounding simply great.
[music] [music] [music] [music] And so on and so on. Just Just take a listen to some presets. There's a free demo so that you can understand what
this thing is. And then I created some ambiences.
We're going to take maybe this one. And
you're going to see here this modal oscillator that together with exciter creates physical modeling. Let's try to
Yeah, the whole world of most wild sounds is possible with this synthesis.
And I'm not going to try to make it a tutorial. There's too much of it. You
tutorial. There's too much of it. You
just need to experiment with it. These
are very advanced physical modeling um oscillators, and it's simply good to give them a go, to tweak them, to experiment, to see what they are capable
of. Next ambience is also taken from a
of. Next ambience is also taken from a preset. It is just a preset. I didn't
preset. It is just a preset. I didn't
even modify this.
And again, I'm going to have physical modeling with modal component, but I'm transforming noise actually here, two noises that go like this. The routing,
you know, the routing of this synth from version 2. You can You have four lanes
version 2. You can You have four lanes that can go separately, but they can intermodulate and they can interconnect in even wildest form. Also, you're going
to have effects here that you also will have three buses and main effects.
You're going to have a lot of new effects actually here. Multi-segment
envelopes are even more editable, more advanced than previously. And then
you're going to have these mappers, which are step sequencers or generally modulators, advanced modulators for your sound creating a new
plethora of craziest, wildest sounds.
Uh and generally, the look of this, the feel of this synth, is simply much better.
Uh it's inviting me to play. I want to spend time with it. I could not really say this about Zebra 2. Now
I understand it better. I know what it's doing. I know how it behaves. These are
doing. I know how it behaves. These are
some very small changes sometimes to the look, to the feel of this synth that make the use of it so much easier.
Then I created this ambience with another preset.
[music] Yeah, I'm telling you, presets are wild on this machine. And then
you're going to have this also created with a preset.
Two oscillators, two noises, some filtering and distortion, and you get this. And I can't think of even a single
this. And I can't think of even a single sound that would not be possible with Zebra 3. I mean, Zebra 2 was already
Zebra 3. I mean, Zebra 2 was already huge, vast, but Zebra 3 is really a a behemoth. But it's not intimidating. I'm
behemoth. But it's not intimidating. I'm
not afraid to touch it.
[music] [music] [music] Yeah, that's it. So, let's say I went for some sort of dub techno today. Last
time it was weird oriental tech house.
[laughter] Check it out here. Today,
we're into dub techno. And then I created, because it's dub techno, I created stabs like this. Also, it's a pure preset.
And this texture verb is cool because it's shifting.
Yeah.
And this bottom part is cool because I have my LFOs here, everything I can imagine.
I can display it here, and I can, yeah, exactly do it like this and choose the modulation amount. So, it's kind of easy
modulation amount. So, it's kind of easy uh and quick, which is important. And
then I created a second stab going like this. Also, using just a preset.
this. Also, using just a preset.
[music] And I have to tell you I love new reverbs on Zebra 3 a lot. They are
definitely new reverbs, and they sound really absolutely lovely. Then, to spice the things up, I decided to add a
sequence. Also, another preset with some
sequence. Also, another preset with some physical modeling regular oscillator, ring modulation, some mixing and filter.
And filters are another great great thing. Maybe I'm going to solo so that
thing. Maybe I'm going to solo so that you can hear some filter models.
[music] [music] Let's change the model.
[music] [music] [music] [music] They all sound very very good, very convincing, very uh [clears throat] attractive to my ear. I'm going to get
back to vanilla.
And maybe to this sort of a filter feel.
And then I went for another sequence.
Ah, I'm going to play to you with drums and bass.
[music] [music] Yeah. And the last step is I created
Yeah. And the last step is I created this lead.
Also, just a pure preset.
[music] [music] [music] [music] Woo!
Guys, do you want to hear the whole thing? You know what? I'm going to even
thing? You know what? I'm going to even try to make it a bit sort of live for you, and I'm going to try to somehow perform this for you. What do you say?
Let's go. And again, maybe it's a good moment to ask you this. If you enjoy my channel, if you like my studio, my videos, and the loops I'm creating for you, please consider subscribing somewhere here down in the corner, and
please drop me a comment down below. You
are important to me as my subscriber. I
want to discuss things with you. I do
read your comments, and I do reply to them. Thanks.
them. Thanks.
[music] [music] [music] [music] [music] [music] [music] [music] Uh seriously, uh
producing this loop took me 15 minutes with pre-presets, then another 15 minutes pre-mixing it for you.
[gasps] Uh and it's another project that I could easily turn um into a track, and I probably will because uh Zebra 3
is a pure joy. And I don't know how exactly it happens, but this synth wants me to play it, wants me to squeeze some cool music out of it right away. So, I
know it's not cheap, but please give it a go. Download the demo. Tell me what
a go. Download the demo. Tell me what you think down below in the comments section.
And let's discuss things once again.
Take care. See you soon.
